My experience was brief but great! After calling one of my go-to bike repair shops in town and finding they did not have what I needed, they suggested I contact Bend Electric Bikes. I try to avoid downtown, but parking over by the library meant only a short walk over to the shop. The guy behind the counter quickly located the two items I needed and the price was better than I was expecting. Turns out it was the owner, Stirling! Great service, great prices. I purchased 2 mid step Gazelle E bikes in 2021 totaling 7,000 . We are both in our 70s . Never had been on an E Bike . We were told they were perfect for us. After only a handful of bike rides , we felt the bikes were just not right for us . We should have been sold a more appropriate step through bike. I called and asked if it would be possible for us to trade them in for a bike that is better suited for a senior. I was told no we can't do that . The owner gave me a call back and pulled up all our info. He told me he felt bad the bikes were not right for us , but again he could do nothing for us. But added if you sell them I hope you'll buy new ones from us. Wow very bad customer service - The purchase was right before Covid - I believe they just wanted a sale before they had to close. I have shared our experience with many friends - As it turns out we went to Voltaire e bikes they were very accommodating and took our bikes on consignment. Best place to rent e bikes in Bend! Service was great. We dealt with 3 different staff members when we reserved and checked in and out and they were all very knowledgeable and so helpful. I'm not sure why this place has 4$ for the pricing. The rental prices are very reasonable and comparable to the other Bend e-bike rental place that never was open or returned texts over the week we were in town. Do not recommend renting. We flew in from out of town, there are no e-bike trails close by, they don't tell you that. Also didn't offer any air pump or rental air. I got a flat and had to ride about 5 miles on it and our day of mountain bikes got cut considerably short. Bummer was a nice bike but with no air was not worth the money. They didn't care either. They talked me through options and, once we narrowed it down a bit, Marnelle took me out to demo a few bikes. My wife and I rented two electric bikes for the day in order to complete the Bend Ale Trail. Bend Electric Bikes rented to us on a day they were closed, which was generous and accommodating. The whole day went well but I popped a flat on the way back in to town. We didn't know what to do, as most Uber XLs won't take bikes, so we called BEB and they came to pick the bike up immediately. We rented two e-bikes from Bend Electric Bikes for a week in town. It was, by far, the best part of our entire vacation. The folks at Bend Electric were incredibly patient, helpful and accomodating. Rates were fantastic. They let us take out an Urban Arrow, which our two year old is now hooked on, and had all the gear needed to keep him safe for no additional charge. For all the e-bike nerds, their stable of e-bikes, including mountain e-bikes, was top of the line. I would rent here again. I would advise friends to rent here. We rented two high-end electric mountain bikes from these guys. Sterling was super friendly and helpful. He set up the bikes and showed us the ropes in the parking lot and then we were on our way. Given the quality (great-condition) and price (~$5K new) of these bikes, I felt like this rental was an excellent value. The bikes performed great, and we had a blast. I would certainly rent them again when we come back next year. Tips: - Be aware of winter-hours. (if booking then) - You may want to request the charger if you plan on going on more than one epic ride. (so you can charge-up between days) - Book in advance because they only have a couple of these electric Mountain bikes. - There aren't a lot of electric bike legal trails, but Sterling can point them out to you. read more

I stumbled across Bend Electric Bikes when we were searching for a bike for my wife. They were the only bike shop in the state that had the exact bike we were looking for (Liv Intrigue E+ 2). That said, we made the trek to Bend from Portland. The buying experience was amazing. My wife was able to try different bikes out before we pulled the trigger, which put both of our minds at ease. I ride a 2020 Turbo Levo Comp, so I was thrilled when I discovered that Bend Electric Bikes also happens to be an authorized Specialized dealer. I've busted out just over 2000 miles YTD (all single track), and with that came a laundry list of self-induced repairs/maintenance. The service I've received in the Portland/Metro area has been terrible... every time. I get people are stressed right now especially in the retail environment. I am in banking and can totally relate. I was so impressed with our buying experience at Bend E-Bikes, that I decided to hit them up when I was having issues with my bike and needed a quick turnaround on repairs for an upcoming 10 day downhill bender, in Central Oregon. We rented 4 bikes today , everything was fine at check in and was very informative. Bikes were in good working order when we left for our 3 hour rental around the river. On our way back to the vicinity of the shop the chain on my bike came off the sprocket. We were able to get it back on but only temporarily. The chain separated and caused the wheel to lock. I took a spill hurting my back, my wife ended up pushing the bike back to the shop. My complaint is the no big deal attitude of the shop. No offer of any kind to make up for the equipment failure. They did tell us to go buy ourselves a beer on our own dime. read more

We visited other bike shops in Bend to rent and shop for e-bikes but this shop was by far the most helpful if you're looking for an electric bike. The staff were so knowledgeable and so thoughtful that they even made a comparison chart to easily compare different levels of a popular model. Courtney was super patient and took the three of us on lots and lots of test rides (and even went out to find my father-in-law when he got lost in the neighborhood). Bendites as well as summer visitors will LOVE cruising around town on a guided tour offered by Bend Electric Bikes. I've lived #inbend for five years and never even knew about most of the places our wonderful guide Courtney led us to. The tour took us through historic downtown (Courtney knows her Bend history--including spots that are a little bit scandalous and/or might be haunted), past the swanky homes and through cute alleyway shortcuts (that your average motorist never sees), and on the smooth and scenic Northwest Crossing bike trails all the way to the top. Yes! Zipping up the hill is easy and fun on an electric bike! There was even a stop for a tasting at Deschutes Brewery. I'm always searching for new things to do with houseguests, and this was a perfect activity to enjoy with my two visiting girlfriends from Portland. And I'm now inspired to become more involved in our Bend community, and I'll be keeping my SUV in the garage more and doing local chores on my bike instead. Too much fun! read more

Great shop with awesome people! We rented a family/cargo bike while visiting Bend and had one of the best days of our entire year. We put three kids in the bucket and rode all over town. We are traveling for the summer and had some issues with our Raleigh Electric Bikes. We were referred here by the factory Rep. They had gotten needed parts and were ready to get things done. While the shop was busy they got both bikes repaired along with some other needed fixes. Technician Sterling was great, He did the repair history of the bikes and replaced needed parts to get us on the road again. Terrible experience the second we walked in. The old hag with the short hair told us to wear masks, granted we were vaccinated and are able to not wear a mask. I would usually not have a problem with this but seconds after an older couple walked in and she did not tell them the same and they were shopping and looking at the bikes etc. They do not offer military discount aswell. Great electric bike shop (Viva La E-Bike Revolucion!). Sterling is great...our family comes up to Sunriver each year (4th year now) and for the past three years we grab some e-bikes from Bend Electric Bikes...tour Bend and just have a wonderful day...craft breweries, swim in the river, get lunch...all on electric bikes. You can throw your kid on the back of one (e-cargo bike) or tow your kid in a Burley...so nice when riding all day and you crank up the pedal assist when going up that last hill. This year I converted two of our own bikes to electric...had an issue with a poorly crafted battery charge lead and Sterling gave me some ideas for a quick fix...wire nuts...thank you Sterling! If you think you are too out of shape, too old, etc. to ride a bike...get on in to BEB and talk to Sterling about how awesome electric bikes have become with pedal assist..not to mention you are helping clean up the air for the generations to come...silence is golden. They wouldn't answer the phone (I tried 3 times throughout the day) so I had to make an appointment late afternoon to look at a Onewheel. When I got there the sales guy said I couldn't try one out due to insurance and also they didn't allow returns. So basically zero incentive to buy from them. Purchased a high-end Electric Bike. The whole staff was very helpful. Sterling's expertise helped me become confident that I'd wind up with the right bike and that BEB would get it set up correctly for me with all the necessary accessories. My reason for going E-Bike is extended range and capacity. To make that possible, he made extensive modifications for me - changed to street tires, added fenders, swapped axle for trailer towing, added great lights, lock, mirror. The light control was seamlessly joined to the control console and the wiring harness was re-enforced. All done perfectly - bike looks terrific with all of his modifications. I've only just taken delivery, so not much time really riding it - but during the buying process, Sterling took me out on a tour around Bend with this bike's sister - so I know I'm going to like riding it. Bend Electric Bikes truly went out of their way to put the bike in my hands. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and couldn't imagine a better overall buying experience. Don't have much to add to the other reviews out here regarding Bend Electric Bikes, except to say Sterling and Sam are really great people to deal with. Renting and purchasing a bike from them is the best experience you could hope for. They are so old school Bend. i.e. Be Nice You're In Bend ... its amazing. Oh and the bikes are amazing... there is no better way to experience Bend than take an electric bike out for a 2 hour tour.. its hard to stop. Today, in Bend for the PPP, my daughter and son-in-law rented tamdem electric bikes to tour my son and me around Bend. So fun, we had a great time. It is a good way to take people out and about who might not be too comfortable on a bike by themselves. Double wow! I ask about combining a bike they do sell with a motor that they don't even list as having on their website and told that that's an interesting idea give us a few hours. I get an e-mail with a photo showing it fits! Follow up with all sorts of technical questions answered. Then, the embarrassing part. With the chaos around me I get confused, I mix up who I was e-mailing and look at competitors website, see their floor model discount and write BEB about buying it the next day and the motor I asked about. Although BEB sells that same bike they forwarded the e-mail to the other bike store to let me get the savings of a floor model and the other store the sale. I plan on buying the motor from them though, had more questions but could not wait to rave about how helpful and great a store. read more
