I am a big fan of Repeat Performance Sports. I've bought many items there (skis, bindings, packs, etc.) and have always found the staff helpful and knowledgeable (way better than some of the other larger gear stores in town). They are certainly the best place to go for any odds and ends parts for outdoor gear and they've been growing their stock of repair and maintenance gear (head here before you go pay more at the other ski or bike shops). I've also consigned a number of items and always been treated well. The only criticism I'd offer is that the outdoor clothing isn't very well laid out or shopping friendly. Everything is packed together and falls off the racks so consistently that I skip looking at it as I don't feel like picking items up off the floor. read more

Good selection. Prices are higher than expected. Some are higher than retail. But the deal killer is disinterested and/or straight up rude staff. Two that we interacted with seemed annoyed that we were there ands spent $150. Don't plan to return. read more

After visiting another used great shop in Portland a few days prior. I stopped by this awesome shop in Bend. Seemed to be off the beaten path a bit, but I would drive miles for this shop. They have so much product! I scored a few good deals, and if I had more time I know I would have found some more treasures! First time in and they had an amazing selection of gear from what I was allowed to see! Apparently I was too close to closing time for any real help from the employees. When I asked for a fitting room with an arm full of merchandise the first thing the employee said was, you know we close soon right? I said no but that I would make it quick.. after I scrambled through trying on my options I hurried over to the snow boot section to complete my outfit. Before I could try the second boot on Hannah, her name tag read, was right next to me and said that they were closed... in disbelief of how rude that was I followed her to the counter to pay and leave as soon as possible. We had a great experience at Gear Fix. We decide to get some bikes for casual use, like riding to the park. The staff was friendly and helped us choose some used bikes to get us back in the saddle. We got a pair of bikes for $500 and have rode them a couple times and they seem to work great for what we need. The bikes were several years old but in great condition and probably retail for about $5-600 each. read more

As a bonafide dirtbag, I've haunted the many generations of used gear stores in Bend shopping for everything from bike parts to whole setups. Recently upgraded my ski setup, and Dan and Joe went out of their way to help me figure out best choices from their inventory - but also willing to discuss parts and labor required to bring skis up to speed that I bought elsewhere. Their shop services were fast and professionally done. We've also bought kids bikes from them in the past, and were pleased by both the shopping process (fitting and choosing from their inventory) and the condition of the bike we ended up getting. Other reviewers commented on price, and while I agree the prices are not as cheap as garage sales or CL, it's usually in the same ballpark. Plus you get the benefit of their advice, ability to compare side-by-side, and saving time and hassle of meeting up with individual sellers. There are also discounts on shop services (adjusting/remounting bindings, for example) when buying from them, so the comparison is closer than I expected. I'll keep going back. read more

What an absolute joke. The most incredibly expensive consignment store you could imagine. Smells terrible inside. You can buy used gear here for about the same price you could buy it brand new on sale. 200 dollars for used ski boots that retail for 300?? 80 bucks for a pair of the shittiest, worn out, old shoes you could imagine? I've gone here a few times having forgot how bad it is but each time I'm reminded why it's not worth even looking there. Go on craigslist or buy online and pay half the price read more

I really wanted to like these guys, they're a local business and they guaranteed their work. Even their website said "That's why we GUARANTEE our work. If you aren't happy with what you get back, we'll make it right. Plain and simple." So I decided to get my old climbing shoes resoled as it had a hole in it after 5 years of climbing in it. $60 bucks to fix the hole and have both shoes resoled with some Five Ten rubber and no need for a break in period seemed like reasonable enough deal. I get my shoes back and they don't look like brand new shoes, they looked hand crafted rubber added to the front half sole of my shoe. All that matters to me is the grip and a good edge. Seems good enough. Fast forward 3 months I start to get another hole. The rubber used to resole was cheap rubber, no where near Five Ten or La Sportiva quality and I definitely could see edging wear so quickly. I contacted them because they GUARANTEE their work. Their response was "At 4 months after the resole, your shoes aren't showing any spectacular or abnormal amount of damage. Best I could do for you is offer you 20% off your next repair with us, just to make you feel a little better about the situation." Thats the type of guarantee you can expect, a 20% off your next repair. Its sort of customer service you expect at a corporate retailer like Bed Bath and Beyond. I've been climbing for over 15 years and own several pairs of shoes for different styles of climbing, it took 5 years for my favorite pair to finally get a hole in it and it took their resole 4 months. None of my other shoes have burned through rubber that quickly and I've been climbing in a different pair of shoes since with no problems. You're better off just buying new shoes instead of having it resoled. I have pro deals so I could get new shoes for $100 but I really wanted to support these guys, they're local and seemed to stand by their work. If I were you, I would just wait for REI to give you a 20% discount and at least they'll give you a full refund after a year if you're not happy, not another 20% off. Their customer service was more disappointing than their resole work. read more

I consigned a road bike with Gear Fix... There was a little mishap with the price, but they fixed it immediately without question. And they were able to sell it within a week! These guys know bikes, and on top of that they just have an awesome store with tons of great gear. I will definitely be back because I love working with a company that has great customer service. This is the best used gear shop in town by a wide margin. The staff is polite, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The selection and diversity of used gear for sale is huge, especially clothing. The prices are much better than the other used gear shop in town. The repair shop is capable of fixing/tuning/setting up literally anything. They will do work that other shops in town wont, such as adjust and inspect older ski bindings. They also have the lowest prices on shop work and turnaround time is quick. As far as selling your stuff, you'll definitely get more on Craigslist, but if you don't want the hassle of that Gear Fix is the way to go. Don't bring them your "junk"; they don't want it in the store. I love this place! read more

So great to have a used sporting goods store in a town like Bend. The owner and staff are super friendly and helpful. Really good selection of items. Pricing of items varies because the consignor can command the price. Some consignors are asking too much, but hey, the price drops over time, so wait and see if the item is still around in two months. Most items are very reasonably priced - to move! read more

Wow! What generous customer service. Went in to buy bindings for my tiny rider. They didn't have what I needed so instead they spent almost an hour working with and adjusting the ones I had. In the end, I had fitted bindings and when I went to pay... "That's okay." While I didn't buy anything today, they had a great selection at excellent prices and I will most certainly be back. A gear shop is only as good as their burrito recommendations to outta-towners and the feller at Gear Fix steered me in the right direction to a delicious rito. They have a rad collection of used bikes that I always check out when I roll thru town and a bunch more throw back gear inside. Solid disc golf selection too. Love The Gear Fix! They have been so helpful with outfitting our kids with used ski equipment at a reasonable price. Also turned in our daughters gear from last year and got enough store credit to cover most of her gear for this year. Worth it to not have to hassle with selling it ourselves on craigslist. We were very unhappy with the condition of an Osprey Child Carrier that we ended up purchasing. And the customer service was awful. The carrier was extremely dirty and really over priced. I regretted my purchase after I bought it. I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning the carrier before I could give it to my son. The two employees that were working were extremely rude and not at all helpful. I would not waste my time at this store again. Very disappointing. read more

I've had 4 pairs of resoles done at Gearfix now and for the money, it's amazing. My futuras came back better than new and I actually prefer the resoled shoe to the new pairs. If the lead time was better, I'd give them 5 stars. Also, since we sell most of our old ski gear here, I haven't paid cash for anything in about 2 years. Trade old gear for top notch resoles?
