The Sportsman's Warehouse (SW) in Bend, OR sells Columbia PFD Rambler shorts with an attached $50 price tag. An internet search revealed that many other stores currently list them at half off that price, clearly closing them out for the end of summer. SW online lists these shorts as a clearance item and offers them on sale from $31.77 - $45.00. I purchased them and another item at the store only because I had a $50 gift card from a previous promotion, and I was passing through Bend. Until the next day, I failed to notice that I was charged $85 for the $50 shorts that other stores are closing out for $22-$32 and SW online is closing out for a $31.77-$45. I then called while 30 miles from Bend, with no plans to ever return there. The answering clerk stated that PFG had raised their price. This is a questionable claim, because Columbia manufactures these shorts and offers them for $50 on their website, and SW online and other retailers are offering them at clearance prices. The clerk then informed me I could only receive a refund for their having overcharged me 70% by coming in. That would cost me far more in time and driving expenses than the $35 that SW stole from me. I escalated to a manager who claimed company policy would not allow a refund over the phone due to "risk". He could not articulate what this mysterious "risk" was despite online and phone credit transactions being a worldwide routine business practice. I claimed that SW must find it more acceptable to cheat a customer by overcharging them than to possibly expose the company to this mysterious "risk". Presumably for lack of a reasonable reply, that mid-level manager claimed there was nothing he could do. I requested to talk to someone who could make decisions. After about a minute, the manager returned to our call and stated that members of upper management weren't available, but "they would tell me the same thing." He offered me a $40 gift card and stated that is all he could do. Clearly, that solution ensures any refund I receive of the money SW stole from me be spent on heavily marked up merchandise at SW. Apparently, cheating a fixed income senior citizen (and perhaps many other customers) by overcharging, knowing that a high percentage of customers cannot economically return to the Bend, Oregon store, is acceptable business practice by SW, a corporation worth $43.7 million. Representatives of the Bend, OR SW store ensured that a "risk" does exist, but it is the customer that incurs that risk. I will ensure that my future purchases are made elsewhere. Being short of options for restitution, I will spend the $40 gift card and not a dime more, I will post negative reviews on every possible site such as here and Google and Yelp, and will be filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Division of the Oregon Department of Justice. Please help me to ensure that SW's unacceptable business practices cost them far more than the $35 they stole from me. read more

If their customer service in store is as bad as they're online customer service then this place is horrible. Tried buying two Benchmade knives first one said it was in stock in store that I could pick up that day come to find out it wasn't in the store and none of the other stores happen to have it either, so I said okay mistakes happen the next day ordered another one, only to find out the same thing happened! Very disappointed I probably will never purchase anything from sportsman again I still haven't got refunded. read more

Sportsman's warehouse is running scams in several ways. I signed up for their credit card only to find out the interest rate is 33% interest even with very good credit. Then they tell you when the card arrives that there is a $3.50 per month fee for paper billing. In order to stop paper billing you need to get the app or get online and weed through the site to find out how to change it. They offer 15% off your first purchase which I never got. When I complained to customer service, they sent me 10% off. But I needed to use this online. The store is over 100 miles from my house. I explained I was not from the area and asked if I could just order online then get the item off the shelf? The clerk said no... that's an online only deal. The price of the ammo I was wanting to purchase was $149 on the shelf. When I looked online it was $155 another 3.5% more. That makes the savings only 6.5% a far cry from 15% So why can't you just buy it online and get it there at the store you're already at? Nope they have to send it to the store even though it's already there. Isn't this a plain restocking issue? They don't want you to know the online prices are higher than regular store prices. I then decided to look around the store a bit more. When I looked at their gun safes....there's a big sign in red saying "SALE" $2199 however on that same sign it says was $2199.......so what's the sale? Are we to believe because a sign says sale and lists a price with the same price on the same sign with a line through it that's an actual sale? I have provided pictures for proof, but I'll stick with cabelas and their card at 9.99 % interest and offers for one year free interest plus points over a card that charges 33% interest plus a $3.50 per month paper billing fee that's not easy to change. read more

Poor service and overcharged for items in the store unfriendly people prices not correct and out of order

I've been shopping here for almost 20 years. This place has gone way dowhnill since Cabela's took over. Despite the hip makeover of the checkout area, the service is officially terrible. On my last visit, I asked to see a pair of boots that were on sale. The website/app said they were in in stock, my size, and available to pick up same day at the Bend store. Sales guy in the shoe dept. said he had no idea, the weren't in stock. I still had a couple of other things to get so not an entirely wasted trip. I went to check out with those items. Didn't mind the short wait. However, when another register opened up, the guy scanned my loyalty rewards card..asked if it was a military ID...I said no, it's my rewards number...he promptly ignored that and was more interested in filling out the customer satisfaction survey on the credit card keypad for himself before letting me slide my card. He practically lunged at it. Very weird. How about let the customer rate their own experience? Don't know if this a PIC or MOD or just a cashier trying to boost their own metrics. Anyway. Unpleasant experience. And then I had to email customer service twice to get my purchase credited towards my rewards points. I used to stop by here almost every week back in the day. Now if I come to shop once a month, it's the exception rather than the rule. I used to be a shareholder in the company. Not a huge shareholder. I sold what I had recently. That's how stocked I am about this place now. It used to be my happy place. read more

Can this place just throw in the towel already so this store space can become something useful? I've been shopping here for 20 years. This used to be the kind of store that it was fun just to go in look around and see if it could spend money on something. It's the kind of place. That's literally depressing to go into. I know online stores are tough to deal with. I get it but this place is like a sick old dog. Do the right thing and put it down already. I swear every time I go in here, it's more and more bleak and depressing and they never , ever have anything ya need. It's getting more sparse every day. They keep shuffling stuff around to make it look more full but it's like a bad comb over in there. The place is run by kids now too that are basically just warm bodies because they have absolutely zero knowledge about anything outdoor related. I was shopping for a particular pistol and called three times and could never seem to talk to anyone that knew anything. Ended up buying at a place in prineville, mostly because the people could actually answer my questions. Tried to buy some ammo there and most of it wasn't even price marked. I think they've changed that because I was just in there today and really briefly looked around and it did look like they had priced more of the ammunition. read more

Ordered a gun online that was stated to be "in store" and available for pickup the same day. It took me two days to even be able to get someone to answer the phone to check the status. That ended up turning into several days to be able to be able to start the background check. The worker at the gun counter was less than helpful and quite rude. Don't order anything online here and expect it to arrive when stated. read more

This outdoors store had it all! Stopped by on a weekday afternoon. The huge parking lot out front was only 1/6 full. The store was not busy. Sportsman's Warehouse was stocked with everything you need for the great outdoors (fishing, hunting, hiking, water sports, camping, etc.). The store was clean and organized during my visit. Prices were reasonable. Customer service was outstanding! The two gentlemen who assisted us with our questions were friendly and helpful. read more

Update (after posted response from the owner) Dear Owner, While I appreciate that you have taken the time to respond to my review, it would have been far more helpful if you had provided a direct contact number for yourself or the store manager rather than the nationwide number for the franchise customer service. They were not helpful as they are not aware of the contradictory return policies unique to your store. I have posted a picture of the sign, hanging directly above the customer service desk in your store, that outlines the return policy visible to shoppers. I have also posted the conflicting return policy that is provided to shoppers after purchase, detailed on the backside of the sales receipt. The publicly visible, pre-purchase return policy should be honored, NOT a separate and different one that is disclosed after purchase. I am still left with an item that is not working for me that Sportman's Warehouse is not willing to refund despite the opposite of what is posted in your store. I hope this clearly outlines my frustration, both for you and for future customers reading this review. read more

I purchased a meat grinder online and went to the Bend Oregon store to pick it up. The product was not at the front desk so I asked the front desk if an associate could assist me. When I went to the shelf the box the associate was directing me to was opened so I asked the associate to make sure that all of the components were there and I went ahead and bought it. When I got home and took it out of the box my son noticed that It had been used. There was dried meat on some of the blade parts and cylinder and there was no way I was going to use a contaminated meat grinder. I immediately called the store and spoke with one of the managers I believe her name was Charlie. I was very frustrated and explained what happened and asked her to see if there was another one on the shelf that was not opened and after holding for a few minutes she confirmed there was. She told me that she was a new manager and I told her that I wasn't her fault and I'm not mad I'm just really frustrated that this used meat grinder was put back on the shelf and that I was an hour away and now had to leave when I had my Elk staged and ready to grind. I told her that I was on my way to exchange the contaminated one and asked her if she would put it at the front desk and explained again that I was processing an Elk and I was an hour away and needed the exchange to be quick. She said no problem. I heard another male voice in the background while I was on the phone saying "Im going to have to look at it first". When I arrived at the store they did not have it at the front desk so I asked them if an associate could get one and that's when another manager "Jessie" came up and immediately start challenging me on my return and suggesting that maybe I was the one that used it and now want a new one. I told him that was absurd and explained that I had just purchased it a couple of hours ago and what would be the point of that and explained that the dried meat all over the grinder parts had been there for awhile. He then suggest that maybe I have another old one at home that I exchanged parts for and was just trying to get my money back. At that point I was so appalled that I started video taping him as he escalated his accusations against me and refused to make the exchange. None of what he said made any sense! I wasn't trying to return the grinder I was trying to exchange it for one that wasn't used. During the conversation he cussed at me several times, which is on video and was extremely rude and condescending. This would be a viral video if posted! I only wish I started the video sooner! He made some more very rude comments as he continued to refuse the exchange and then went into the office near the front checkouts and hid there until I left but before he walked away I told him that he shouldn't be in management and that I am so certain that one of your superiors will look at this interaction and make the exchange but for now, I have no other choice but to purchase another one so me and my son could complete the processing of the Elk. This person "Jessie" completely misjudged me and does not have the demeanor to be in a position to make decisions. He made many comments about not caring about customers that it means nothing to him. A managers role is to resolve problems, not create or exasperate them. I want a refund for the contaminated meat grinder and an apology from Jessie for the way he treated me and at the very least he needs some training on how to treat loyal customers if he is going to remain in a manager role. I have been shopping Sportsman's for decades and have purchased most of my outdoor equipment from them including guns, ammo, fishing and tackle etc and never for a moment have I ever encountered such incompetence and unprofessional behavior from a Sportsman manager who questioned my integrity for no other reason other than what he stated that he see's this shit all the time. He seemed to be having fun digging his heals in while other associates watched him attempt to embarass me. I want to end this with a positive comment on the new manager Charlie. She completed my purchase of the 2nd meat grinder as Jessie hid in the office and she was very kind and compassionate and kept her composure the entire time. She is very capable and should be looked at to be fast tracked into a higher position and my hunch is If she would have been allowed to handle this without Jessie's interference and bad example of how to treat a customer everything would have been fine. This is not the Sportsman's Warehouse that I have been shopping for decades and I am hoping that common sense will prevail and someone in a higher role than him will make this right. I have left a message with the corporate office and waiting a response. Has it really gotten that bad with Sportsman's Warehouse that even your best and most loyal, long time customers are suspect and treated like they don't matter? We will see! Dan read more

I will never shop here again. The Gunsmith refused to sell me a gun for no reason at all. I feel like I was discriminated against. I emailed the corporate office to tell them about my horrible experience. The employee seemed to care more about a paycheck instead of making the customer happy. By refusing to sell me a gun you just lost a customer. I will spend my money somewhere else. read more

I came here to purchase a fishing pole, but I didn't have much knowledge about the equipment, so I had to ask an employee for assistance. Bob originally came off a bit intimidating as he was kind of becoming impatient with my misunderstanding of his questions, but after a while, he was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. He helped me pick out a good fishing rod and even gathered the needed accessories. Thank you, Bob! read more

Was told the price was a mistake and they wouldn't honor it. Why send a pickup notification and waste my time then? A-OK Sportsman's Warehouse is a large store with everything you need in the way of camping and hiking. Or if you want to shoot something. They have a huge ammo section and more fishing rods & reels than I've seen anywhere else. That section is actually intimidating to me - I'm thinking of trying my hand at fly fishing but wouldn't know where to start with all the choices. Good sporting boot selection. Charlie recently helped me assemble a fishing kit for my dad's birthday. He took the time to understand his experience level and interests, and knew exactly what gear my dad would need for fun & successful time on the water. I know nothing about fishing, but Charlie went as far as to give me specific written notes on which bait and lures to use at which fishing sites, and he deliberately refused to upsell me on things that my dad wouldn't need as a beginner. Charlie's a gem and a real gift to the local fishing community. Thank you Charlie - the kit was a hit! read more

I really liked this place. :-) I found the people there very relatable even though I don't do many of the activities in which they partake and for which they sell equipment -- and that makes it very different from and better than a lot of other seemingly similar but actually totally different stores (well, shops, to be more accurate). We might have dissimilar purposes for the reasons for purchase but I love the selection of orange things! Varied and great! Being an emotional being, I have associations with this place that have nothing to do with it, so I'm thinking about those as I write and because of the sad nature of these associations, it makes it difficult to think about the actual place rather than what it is for me. I wanted to buy a container for geo-caching and I got a beautiful bright orange waterproof one perfectly suited to the needs of the task -- mine and the treasure-seekers. I didn't end up using it for that, though. I was in the area in order to see someone I did not realize had passed away, so instead it's become a memory box holding the gifts I'd intended to give -- and it does hold them perfectly, and very much relates to the intended recipient's life in the outdoors. I am thinking of putting it at the 'final resting spot,' along with a note so people can look through it, remember, and maybe communicate in a real-world, offline, tangible kind of way. Now, on to other things. The nut rolls were out of stock when I arrived. As I left, it seemed they were just being re-stocked so I had to go back in for a second round and it was just as enjoyable as the first. :-) This is a fun place! The staff are really knowledgeable, friendly, take time to talk, go over and explain things (or find someone else who can if it requires a certain level of expertise in that particular area) -- and perhaps most importantly, I found them all to be very encouraging of my desire for outdoor pursuits that many people would be more into discouraging rather than encouraging, so it was refreshing, enlivening, and you could say I found it to be an overall breath of fresh air. I had a nice discussion in the sleeping bag area about cold-weather camping and what kind of equipment is needed or useful for that, for instance. There was one item I bought there that didn't work out for me and that was a beautiful bright orange thermos that just leaked. :-( I know I was supposed to be able to return it but of course that would be difficult for me as I do not live in the area and was travelling at the time, so I would have had to figure out how to get it to them and all that, plus there's the calculation of worth such as price/ refund possibility versus shipping cost. Overall it was a very nice place -- although, with seriously limited selection of clothing for women -- and I totally highly recommend it! :-D read more

I stopped in today looking to get info and advice about handguns as I've never owned one before. I spoke with a guy at the gun counter who was helpful but he was called away so he handed me off to Ben who spent about 45 minutes with me giving me (1) the current rundown on the pending changes in the law , and (2) showing me a number of handguns while pointing out the pros and cons of each and also answering all of my questions. He was super knowledgeable and candid in his opinions, which I really appreciated. No rushing and no pressure, just good advice. First time experience was great in and out with the gun I wanted. Second time was a good experience up until I came back after my background check cleared and the guy wouldn't allow me to pick up my rifle because my id had a crease in the top corner and he wouldn't except it after my background check had cleared. I previously made a gun purchase with them with my id in the same shape. I won't be making any further gun purchases from them. read more

I bought a fishing rod from this store. I go from home Depot where I pick up my building supplies to sportsman's , which is next door. When I got home I realized I picked a rod next to the one I wanted. When I went to return it a week or so later. They wouldn't let me exchange it for the one I wanted. They told me I didn't buy it from them. Basically calling me a liar. So for a hundred dollar rod they lose my business for good. There's good business practice at work. No customer appreciation here. All of the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful but all of the things that they are selling are total garbage. Aside from the rifles where you know the quality, The accessories, apparel, and shoes are the lowest quality that each of the brands produce. I think their corporate headquarters needs to fire whoever is doing their commercial sourcing. They could be so much better than the Kmart of sporting goods. read more

Went in to sportsmans in bend on Sunday. The store inventory management is a joke to say the least. The last three times I have been in the store there are pricing errors or items that are stuffed on shelves with price tags for other merchandise. Pull a sticker every once in awhile! Very confusing. The fact that the cashier literally told my wife to walk back to the back of the store and take a picture of the shelf was outrageous then his reply was it is not the same SKU?? I do not work at sportsmans I don't give a ?#%$ what your SKU is. The shelf is full of the same item. I do not manage your inventory. Once again take the time to properly price the item on the shelves. The ASM scoffed when my wife politely explained that there are four of these items on that shelf and to Please fix the way the shelves are priced in the future. Maybe if the plastic manager took as much time checking inventory management as he does squeezing into a small vest the pricing error would have never been an issue. read more

I called in to request information about a particular pistol I was interested in. I spoke to Greg at the gun desk. After explaining what I was looking for, I was rudely cut off and told to look online for it. I said I just wanted to see if you guys have it in stock, or if on their website it can be ordered and sent locally, but again was cutoff and was told "it doesn't work that way". All I wanted to know is if they had stock, which is a simple question, but was unable to get an answer since the in store rep was too lazy to be bothered with looking it up for me. I love Sportsman's Warehouse, but there's no place for a sales/customer service rep who doesn't understand the basic requirements for that role. read more

Another horrible experience. Came in to get the line changed on some reels. I was asked if I could leave them overnight to help them out. I said of course. Showed up up two days later to pick them up. They gave them to me and told me to give the ticket to the cashier to pay. I looked at the reels and they had not even replaced the line. They gave me excuses on why they did not even notice they had not started the job. Had to wait in my car an hour and a half before they finally got them done. This is not the first bad experience. I guess I am used to shopping at a larger store or something. I was extremely disappointed in the selection they had here. Upon walking in, it is so open that it almost gives you the feel like it's going to be closing down or something because there seems like there is barely any merchandise! This is hands down the best sporting good store in Central Oregon. We go her regularly for footwear and camping consumables and gear. They have a great selection and helpful staff. They are the best prices in the area! I often wish they had a little more Colombia clothing but with the Columbia outlet and REI in town that is covered. With archery, firearms, and the best selection of camping and backpacking gear I appreciate the focus in these areas. read more

I've used many different Sportsmans and outdoor stores (even dating back to GI Joe's) here in the PNW. I've been to several Sportsman's and Cabellas stores. All-in-all, SW (here in Bend) has a better selection of hunter/sportsman gear then any other options. Coastal has a lot of stuff too. That said, the reviews on here are correct. Sometimes, you may catch employees (not present) with the customer. They should have all their employees read FISH! Anyways, I've personally had great service most every time. I've bought many guns, ammo, reloading supplies, clothing and more. The manager (Dave) helped with a rifle (out of the box) factory defect and followed up as promised. Overall, they are the "one-stop-shop" for sportman's gear in Bend and fairly priced. IMO read more

This place seems to have it all, but when my husband and I made an inquiry about a specific firearm, the staff at the gun counter could hardly be bothered to leave their huddle. One employee begrudgingly broke from the herd, while he others continued their conversation while leaning on the counter. The general lack of enthusiam from the rude staff made us seek out another local business who was more than happy to assist us and sell us the firearm we were looking for. So Thanks Sportsman's Warehouse for your crappy service that introduced us to a much better business to give our money to. read more

My wife and I bought a pistol a couple days ago 7/2/2020, and while the service that we received from the gentlemen at the counter that day was great, we discovered there was a problem with the laser sight. I called the next morning to see if we could exchange the sight itself, or work something out, they said there would be no problem. Once we came in to resolve the issue, they had no interest in helping their customer. They diagnosed that the battery was bad on the sight and that the sight was fine(cool, no problem), but they wanted us to buy a new battery! Why should I fork over more money for new battery after I just spent $550 for something that is supposed to work properly? Each time I brought up the option for them to comp us a battery in some way, they had the attitude of "If it's not broken, we aren't going to do anything". I don't want to cause a fuss over a 5 dollar battery, so after about three attempts at nudging them to step up and do the right thing, I just bought one myself. If it were for something of greater value I would've pinned them down, but it's the little things like this that matter in customer service, and they didn't have any. read more

I told the clerks behind the firearms counter that I must buy a firearms safe today. I tried opening the safes myself to look inside and I could only get a couple open. After going to the counter another two times and asking for assistance I left. I spent 30 minutes and not one associate left the counter to help a customer who plainly stated that they must buy a safe today. They must be hourly employees because it didn't seem to matter if I bought from them or not. I guess I won't! read more

I waited over 40 minutes for help even though I was next in line and acknowledged on helping me as soon as other sales person returned from running to check an item. Well when I checked to see what was taking so long, both were knee deep in helping men who showed up after me. I guess a women's money and purchases are secondary to their sales staff. read more
