The terminus of the Pasana to Long Beach is a short 10 -15 minute to shoreline village. I came during the week so no big crowds. Splendid zeashore weather; clwar as bell and more pleasant than in the valleys. Loved basking in the sun near the water. Grwat way to kill some lazy hours. We stopped by during happy hour which we thought they offered which they don't. There was a good crowd both in the front patio and the back. Inside wasn't that busy as everyone was enjoying the sun outside. That only time we really had food here was an order of the onion rings which was just ok. And an order of the chili cheese fries which was great. This time we were having a meal. Even though they don't offer happy hour they do have drinks specials all day. Somewhat their version of happy hour. The guy behind the bar was quite sweet and very friendly. Started off with a couple of beers and a meal. First full meal so there were some options in what to have. Menu wise has an array of everything. Starter, sandwiches/burgers, salads, and entrees. As it is a seafood place, we heard that their fish and chips were great. So we went with that and an order of the shrimp po boy which was recommended. Plus as the last time we had the chili cheese fries which was great, an order of that was place as well. Food didn't take too long to arrive. Chili cheese fries came out first. It's not your typical fries but potatoes wedge slices. It was good but last time was way better. It was covered and drenched with chili and cheese as this time was barely any. Good but a little disappointing. Entrees, it's always a little iffy when it comes to fish and chips as the batter tends to be too much. Well, it was decent. Wouldn't say it was excellent but decent. Served with cole slaw and a side of tartar sauce. Then the shrimp po boy, that was also served with fries. Half a roll with shredded lettuce, tomatoes slices, red onion and pickles. There were four pieces of fried shrimp which was over cooked and very crunchy. It was a little disappointing as I had high hopes and it was recommended. The place is great for a drink and hanging out. Food, it was just ok. The only time I enjoyed something was the last time with the chili cheese fries. This time, it was ok. We love the Pike; it's a local staple! Free parking in the lot in the back or paid metered street parking. We come here for the awesome bartenders. They're friendly and always remember us. We also love the food! They have daily lunch specials and I usually opt for the BLT and add avocado. The ambiance in great; very laid back and casual. They also have an old school juke box! I always visit the pike when I'm in Long Beach, and when checking the website I saw that they had the famous lobster Caesar wrap that has been getting such a bad review up the coast. Since the food is always great here I just knew I was going to come here and get it. Which I did as you can see chocolate lobster super tasty fresh and exactly what I was expecting. If there is any thing that wasn't quite right I would say it was the server she bring the rap to me with ranch and when I asked her is this lost her seizure out can I please get Cesar dressing it went downhill from there. I had to ask for silverware and wasn't that welcoming towards me but was towards others. But that's not what I came here for I came here for the food and as usual it was stellar! read more

Love this place as a bar. The bartenders are super friendly and helpful, the decorations are really cool, and it has a cute back patio. On any given day there's something happening (live music, trivia, what have you). However, me and my boyfriend decided to try the food last week. I guess we were feeling bold because we both ordered lobster dishes (he the lobster roll, me the lobster mac and cheese). It was really expensive but tasted canned, rubbery, flavorless. I ended up eating around the lobster in my dish. His roll was really wet and didn't seem like the right kind of bread. We still love it here but won't be getting so adventurous with the menu next time, or will just flat out stick to their drinks. read more

We had a delightful meal at Pike today (Sunday lunch). We were originally going to eat somewhere else, but couldn't find parking there. We were lured to Pike when we drove past and saw a space available in the back lot. I'm glad we did! My husband got scrambled eggs, my daughter got fish tacos and I had a salmon sandwich. The menu listed a mahi sandwich, but they didn't have mahi so they substituted in salmon. It was great! They seemed understaffed, but eager and kind. I've lived in Long Beach for many years and have never come across such a despicable establishment. Bar tenders refused to serve the only black people in the bar for the entire night. Didn't ever make eye contact. On a very moderate night (not busy) it is very obvious that there is an over all racist culture. If you are a black person.. DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR. You will not be served, and after you wait 40 minutes and finally are served the waiters treat you with contempt. Shame on you Pike Restaurant. read more

Wow, talk about time for an update! Since my first review 15 years ago, this place has become a Long Beach institution, with good reason. They've weathered the pandemic, some management drama (from what I heard), fierce competition from newer establishments along 4th St, and they're still standing, delivering the goods to the fine people of Long Beach (that's us!). I was there most recently with a big group as part of our 4th St bar crawl, and it became our dinner stop. Since it was still pretty early we took over the front patio and proceeded to order. Our server was amazing--she remembered ALL our orders correctly without writing anything down, and was personable, besides. I had the fish tacos and half of my husband's grilled cheese sandwich--excellent! There was a band playing inside, free music having been a regular feature of this place throughout the years. Speaking of which, looking forward to seeing The Thingz there soon! There was also some kind of Modelo promo thing going on, so some of us scored some free swag and beer, which was very nice. I'll be the first to admit I've been taking this place for granted and haven't come down as often (yes, mainly due to the shiny new places that have cropped up), but I realize now it's time to show more love for this punk shanty by the sea! read more

Yummy seafood here, I got the seafood combo, and it comes with breaded shrimp and fish & chips. My favorite part was the shrimp and chips. They were crispy and had that nice fried crunch when taking a bite. There was way too much batter for the cod fish for my liking. It was also like I was taking a bite of a load of bread and no fish to eat. Maybe it was a bad day so I will give them a break. I often don't go out for seafood, but I would return if I'm craving it. It's tough eating healthy and then eating a bunch of fried food. I did like the outside seating in the front and back near the parking lot. I don't know if this is a regular customer or just a normal customer, but she had a real parrot with her outside on the patio; kinda strange, haha. Too bad we weren't sitting in the back to experience that, but we sat out in the front and didn't go inside at all. The coolest part of the experience was seeing the old jukebox! I live a couple blocks from here and I always forget about this place. The parking lot is tiny and parking in the spots is slightly difficult but they have a pretty cool patio area and a nice intimate bar with indoor booths/tables. And almost every night of the week they have an event taking place... karaoke, DJs, live bands, trivia night, etc. Tonight my family and I decided to stop by for dinner. The age ranges were 78 years old to 3 months old and everyone was able to eat and enjoy themselves in the patio. Food was pretty good for being bar food and of course their fish and chips (kind of what they are known for) were great. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the service was slightly lacking. Our server was very attentive when she visited the table but I think she was the only person working the patio this evening. Our drinks were only refilled once and once the bill was paid, we didn't see her again the whole night. Again, she was very nice but I think she needed some help to make sure the guests were taken care of. Service might have been better inside but we didn't want to have a teething toddler disrupting those trying to enjoy their evening. I'll be back again... when I remember this place exists. read more

Just moved to LB a week ago! My first bar stop. Went at 7pm not too busy. It was skaw music night, fun they have daily events. Honestly, skaw music could be the worst thing I've ever heard. Got a Bullet sour drink for $10, it was bomb, but I did not taste any alcohol. Ordered a large ceviche but I guess the server thought I said small. It was very good ceviche though! Fun and fabulous! I love this unassuming hole in the wall!!! And funny thing is, it's in my hometown! How awesome! Words cannot do justice for the amount of happiness I'm feeling right now! It doesn't look like much from the outside and you have to walk to the front to get seated outside in the back...but once you get seated, the sun is shining and the breeze is perfection. I'm constantly trying new things and this trip is no different. I'm hungry and thirsty, what a double whammy! I'm trying to be good, so I ordered a water with lemon to start. However, adequate hydration made way for libations after eyeballing the menu. Ghosted margarita it is! So tasty with a bit of heat at the end. Oops! I ordered Life's a Peach first! Sweet and refreshing! At $12 a drink, they're not cheap but worth it! And because I'm a big kid, grilled cheese and fries for dinner with lobster in my grilled cheese! $8.95 for the sandwich plus $6 for lobster, I can't complain! A great spot in Long Beach for a night and/or place to eat! Located right on 4th st, it's near a lot of other bars/restaurants as well but Pike offers a local feel that really lives up to the name of being a restaurant and bar. Sometimes I come here with friends just for drinks or even for dinner and drinks. They usually have live music playing on the weekends as well, typically starts around 9pm so if you're trying to have conversation with friends I would recommend going earlier or sitting outside as it's usually pretty loud inside, but if you're going to enjoy the music then it's perfect! Pike normally always has boochcraft on tap, which is my drink of choice when I'm here but they have a full bar and a wide selection of beer, and wine as well. I've tried a good amount of their food, but my favorite is definitely the lobster chimichanga. This didn't use to be a regular menu item, but rather a special once a week so it was very exciting when they added it to the menu! Their fish and chips are good as well, but were a little on the skinnier side this time. Their tartar sauce is great! I'm not sure if it's house made, but tastes like it since it seems like they pull a good amount of dill in it which I like. You can never go wrong with their fries or onion rings if you just want some snacks while you're there. The menu is pretty big so I recommend coming and checking it out if you're looking for somewhere casual to go in the area! read more
