Other than the fact 2 bugs crawled out of our food, and our server didn't even take it away or take it off of our bill. Every other table had a water pitcher except for ours. Our drinks were empty the WHOLE time. Couldn't even tell you who our server was, but all of them were talking over here the whole time, gossiping about needing more hours, etc. Assuming half of these people had been cut for the night, they should NOT be in their work shirts. Notice the MANAGER conversing to, handing out money as well!Hostesses we're VERY nice, there was a girl server here who was great as well. Cannot say the same for everyone else. I'm in awe at this and now understand why it was easy to walk in at 8 pm on a Friday. EDIT!!! This review was written while in the restaurant! Our cheese board with the 2 bugs was comped once we called over a manager to pay out our tab since we hadn't seen our server and we're ready to put out. We told her about the situation and she was very nice and comped it! The issue was more the fact that once we told our server there were bugs in our food he LEFT the food on the table, so we alerted a hostess who was very sweet!! But still, no one told a manager or if they did a manager did not come to us. We had to ask to not pay for our food with bugs. Restaurant commented we were sent a dessert? We were not... and the two bugs we're not bugs that flew, they crawled out of the nuts. We ORDERED a cake which we paid for, and it took almost 20 minutes to come out. Went for a girls' lunch today and could not have been more pleased. We had the Lemon Chill and Italian Margarita for drinks. Not sure I would call it a true Italian margarita as they add some red wine to it, but it was delicious. Very nice and refreshing. We had the Caesar salad, prosciutto pizza, and chicken pizza. We also got the dippers to try out the sauces. All were amazing. The prosciutto pizza had a whipped ricotta that went so well with the other toppings. The dipping sauces, all made from scratch, were huge hits. My fav was the goat cheese fondue. We all discussed what we wanted to try next time. Service was really well done. Surprisingly good upscale pizza options. I met an old friend here for brunch last Sunday and both of us enjoyed our pizzas. We also both enjoyed the shoestring fries we had as an appetizer, although I wasn't a fan of their spicy ketchup which tasted more to me like cocktail sauce. The star of the food though was the cinnamon roll that we got for dessert. It's more than enough food for two to share -- with leftovers. More importantly, it was warm, gooey, and the icing was spot on. Pie tap has absolutely delicious pizza, the beer is cold, the music is great and there is just an all around good vibe. However.... If you come to this restaurant with kids "mine are 11 and 14" you will be seated on the patio every time. The hostess will tell you that the interior seats, (where the air conditioning is) are reserved for people with reservations, so, you sit on the fringes with all the other people with children while the dining room seats remain vacant. BTW this is 4:45 in the afternoon and half the restaurant is empty. When I complained to the 20 something manager HE TURNED THE FAN OFF ON THE PATIO!!! I went out of my way to write this review as this is the third time this has happened. We ordered the mushroom and egg pie. It was on the brunch pie section of the menu. We also had the blueberry pancake. They were both good. I particularly liked the pancake. It was thick and large. We definitely ordered too much. I think the serving size of the pancake is maybe two to three people per pancake. We took the rest home. The mushroom and egg pie had bacon on it, but that wasn't enough favoring for us. We added crushed red peppers. That made it perfect for us. The yolk part of the egg is not fully cooked, kind of like you ordered an over easy egg. So if you don't like that sort of thing, don't order it. The service was a little spotty for my mom. I would like to say that the dishes were good. Gnocchi is relatively cheap to make I don't know why the portions are so small and expensive. The chocolate cake was a huge portion enough for three people. The main issue here is the service. It took a very long time to get my main course and even longer to get my desert. I even had to hunt for Matt to get my bill. One thing I did notice was the teamwork. Both the hostess and bartender chipped in to help and both received a small tip from me. If people are at lunch they tend to want things faster than when they are on a date at night. If you are going to charge 40 for lunch at least include a salad or green beans. I ordered for a pizza delivery and this was one of those nights that I appreciated all around from the first bite to the end; decent price for what is it, decent size for one/two people, excellent ingredients, fantastic flavor profile. I mean it's pretty thin when you pick it up but I was impressed how much it was able to hold the toppings altogether. The crust were so chewy and crunchy at the same time and the ingredients were fresh as it can be. I normally don't like goat cheese but to my surprise, it was pretty good overall! Some friends invited us for dinner. I stay away from carbs and sugar, but didn't want to be a pain in the ass when ordering dinner. The first thing you see when you walk in the door is a sign reading "Now hiring! All positions!" And for good reason, especially for kitchen staff! Our friends ordered a pepperoni pizza. They brought their pizza out and said, "It's a little charred. Do you want it or should we fire up a new one?" The pizza was burnt to hell so they sent it back. The second pizza didn't come out any better, so they ate a piece and then just boxed up the rest in case their college son wanted something to eat at home. I simply ordered their "aukashi burger"; just the burger, cheese and bacon and no bun or vegetables. Look, if you have ONE BURGER on your menu, then it better be a damn good burger; especially, if it's "aukashi", right? -- whatever the hell that is. I was not expecting a burger that looked worse than McDonald's. The first photo is of a $15 quarter burger with a slice of processed cheese and chewy as hell bacon. The second photo is of two half pound burger patties I made at home the night before. No comparison. We have been to Pie Tap several times and we have never been disappointed. The food is a bit on the pricey side but for me it's totally worth it! Everything we have tried has always been delicious. We have gone for brunch and dinner. Their cheese board is to die for! I loved everything that came on that board. The goat cheese fondue! You HAVE TO order it! I would have been happy with just that! If you're ever faced with choosing a late-night QT pizza or a pizza from Pie Tap, choose the latter. It was delicious. I got a kid, and it was perfect. It came with four slices. I would add extra pepperoni, though. I only had about four big pepperoni slices. The dough was thin like I like. The bread did, however, give off a sourdough taste. It wasn't as sour as sourdough. First time, arrived 645pm on Saturday. Lots of empty tables, but told by hostess it's a 40 minute wait (she says those are for reservations), so we sit to eat at the bar. I go on OpenTable and reservations available for 700pm. The bartender was nice but not super attentive (asked for refills more than once, didn't come to take payment, etc). Luckily a very nice manager filled in the gaps for her. Now for the food, it was awesome! We got Knots for appetizer and they were soft and deliciously doughy. My girlfriend wanted to take me out on a dinner date, so she asked me what I felt like eating. I was really wanting pizza, so I told her I'd find a spot we hadn't been to before. I saw that Pie Tap was relatively new to the area, so we decided to check it out. It actually turned out being a little farther than I had anticipated, but we didn't mind the drive. When we entered the restaurant, the hostess didn't say anything. I was expecting her to ask us how many or where we'd like to sit. I looked at my girlfriend, and then she said we'd like a table for two. There was also bar seating, which we would normally have sat at... But decided on a table. Our server was nice. She let us look over the menu and then came back to take our order. We ordered the board (which includes three cheeses, two meats, and various delightful food items), a margherita pizza, and one of their beakers of wine (they only have a few bottles, but have wine on tap available). The wine prices are extremely high or we would have stuck around after eating and had more. My girlfriend asked if the sever could make sure our board came first and then the pizza would come out after so that the pizza didn't get cold. She assured us she'd put the board in as an appetizer, and then she'd bring us the pizza later. We got our board, and it was full of awesome things. The bread was delicious. The cheeses were all nice. Some places give you meat and cheese boards that seems like they got everything prepackaged, but not here. Only a little while after getting our board, our pizza was brought out to us. Was there a miscommunication? I think the man who brought us our pizza was the manager... He was someone who was in charge at least. Anyway, he stated that he was bringing us our pizza to give it time to cool down. The pizza was good. Our server asked if we had wanted any sauces with our pizza. At first we said no, but she said we would probably want one. I've only had sauce with my pizza from delivery pizza places, so it sounded a bit odd. Made sense as we ate the pizza though. The crust was a bit bland on its own. Just a heads up, she had told us you could get all three sauces for $3. We opted for just one sauce. It was $1. That's fine, but just a heads up to those of you ordering sauces. I was going to give the place three stars because it is cute, they had live music, and the pizza was good. It was just SO hot in there. There may have been an issue with their A/C (two different people used one of those temperatures guns while we were there). They had a portable A/C unit close to our table, but one of the employees was standing in front of it almost the whole time we were there. The man who I thought was the manager did move it towards us at the end of our meal. No one even acknowledged the heat or apologized for the broken A/C (if that was what happened). I would like to come back again and give it another try. Maybe it was just an off night. It has potential, and there are plenty of good reviews... It's goat cheese, local toasted pepper jam, and sea salt rosemary bread puff. The bread comes out piping hot and combined with both the cheese and the jam they create a flavor orgy in your mouth. My favorite pizza is the prosciutto pie made with prosciutto, dates, pistachio, Parmesan-Reggiano cheese, balsamic and a house made ricotta that will blow your mind. I've visited both the Plano and Dallas locations and the service is always impeccable. Very attentive and helpful with suggestions. Always fluttering around to refill your drinks and answer any questions. Any time anything goes slightly not as planned, they immediately rectify it in an appropriate way. I ordered online from here for the very first time while I was at work. The bag was soaked through the bottom and they had the pasta in a cardboard box that was completely soaked as well. There were no utensils or bread included with the order. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager and a young lady answered. I addressed my concerns and she apologized and stated that bread is not included (which it should) and that they never gotten any other complaints about the containers. She didn't offer to correct the issue as a courtesy at all. Not that I was looking for anything but in the service industry where reviews are important you would think that would be customers service 101. With that being said I will never patronize this restaurant again. Or recommend this to anyone. The food was subpar maybe because it tasted like cardboard smh. read more

I have lived near Pie Tap for a few years but didn't come in until tonight. Shame on me. This is going to be a regular spot for me. The food is ahhhmazing, and this is coming from a Chicago girl who knows good Italian. When I arrived and parked myself at the bar, I was greeted by Cornell who is the epitome of excellent customer service with a smile. I had no idea what to order as I had never been there before. Cornell had that "you can trust me" vibe so I went with his recommendation of the chicken Parmesan. As I waited for the main course, I had a glass of wine and a small Caesar salad. The Caesar salad had fresh lettuce and the perfect balance of dressing and shaved Parmesan cheese. Perfect portion size and warm-up to what they were preparing in the kitchen. Cornell had tried to prepare me for the deliciousness that awaited me with the main course but I. Had. No. Idea. Chicken Parm - a MUST have. It was the best I have had in years. Thank you, Cornell. So I have been back twice since my first visit. Second visit. Ordered a pizza and chicken parm. Entries arrived and instead of chicken parm I got a chicken pesto dish. Waitress was very apologetic. In her defense it was really loud outside where we were sitting. Pizza was ok. I've had two pizzas now and wasn't impressed with either. The chicken pesto pasta dish was very yummy. The chicken parm was great. The chicken parm was perfectly cooked. It doesn't have sauce on it but they give you a small side of sauce. Need more sauce!!! Third visit. I once again got chicken parm and against it was great. Caesar salad was really good. The Simple salad didn't do much for me.
