This place was nestled in a nice little shopping center. The food was in the category of bar food. If expecting bar food then it is good. As a stand alone restaurant I felt three stars was the appropriate rating. The service was good and the wait staff were very attentive. My wife loved her creamsicle alcoholic beverage. She had a chicken dish and I had the pizza. I went with the pizza based on reviews I had read. The pizza was okay but nothing to wire home to mom about. read more

I remember this place from way back! I have friends that come in town and this is the first place they want to go! I can't speak for their other locations, but the Plano location is my go to. They have GREAT pizzas! I would suggest getting them a little crispy, especially if you have multiple toppings. The Chicken Enchiladas are a classic, and they are amazing! Seriously unique vs. any Chicken Enchiladas you've had before. Oddly you'd think the side of beans and rice are an afterthought...they are THE BEST!!! I mix them together. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The vibe is laid back, but it can get busy for sports! They do offer discounts during games as well! read more

Met an older golfer at a course nearby, he overheard our conversation about where to eat , he mentioned that they had pretty girls working there , he didn't say anything about how great the food was , have been going back there and recommending friends to go as they have one of the best tasting burgers, the chicken/pineapple pizza was tasty beyond expectation and they make a mad drink to boot read more

Cafe GeKo is one of my favorite sports bars in DFW. You will find great service, reliable food, and good drinks. Their menu has a lot of options and everything I have tried is tasty. Some of my favorites are the queso and the Philly but the pizza is solid and so are the burgers. A place with an ample supply of regulars occupying bar stools and high tops as well as families and groups eating at the bigger tables . I just moved down the road, and this became my new home bar tonight. The people that were regulars were very nice, when I mentioned I had recently came to the area. Then I was served by a woman who I think was the bar manager, and a cute young brunette that due to my terrible hearing, I never heard what she said her name was. Charging the Tesla and walked into café gecko. Had never been here or heard of it before. On the inside it feels a little bit like a hole in the wall, in a good way. It is more bar than restaurant, but the food is really good. Double win! I had a bowl of tortilla soup and it was one of the best tortilla soups I have ever had. Service was great. We will definitely return. read more

Food hands down is excellent.... service on the other hand is more of a local joke. Servers are slow and self entitled..... please don't go there and plan on drinking and watching a game, they will cut you off after 3 drinks. Good spot to stop by, but by no means a corner hang out. read more

This has turned into one of my favorite places for an after work drink. They have a lively happy hour crowd and I've met new people each time. The place is cozy enough for conversation but still spacious enough to sit with a group of friends. They have an outdoor patio but with all the windows, this place is full of natural light- perfect for day drinking. I really appreciate their frozen margarita machine. I usually order one or two of those & an Uber. The frozen margaritas go very well with their generous sized beef queso dip. read more

So I came here tonight with a friend for Happy Hour and it was AMAZING!! This is a very low-key and unassuming spot so I really was't expecting much, but WOW!! The staff was so warm and welcoming and the atmosphere was super chill and inviting. Per our server's recommendation, I ordered the sour cream chicken nachos and I was blown away!! The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the sour cream sauce was on point and the cheese was so melty and delicious! I also ordered The Dreamsicle cocktail and it was truly a dream! The mix of whipped cream vodka, orange and pineapple juice, and whipped cream was top tier! Not only are the drinks delicious - but they are also strong, so keep that in mind. As if the food and drinks weren't good enough - the prices are AMAZING! Seriously, my friend and I both got drinks and entrees and our total was around $35 dollars . Cafe Gecko NEVER disappoints! Their menu is so fresh. From the pizza, to the quesadillas, to their salads (both pasta and veggie) to their main course meals, everything is delicious! They have amazing stuffed jalapeños. Everything is made from scratch. The staff is super friendly and attentive, we love this place. They keep late hours, so if those munchies call your name they have you covered - right up to closing time. They have great beer but also a nice wine list. Meaning my husband can get a beer and I get to have a nice glass of wine! They also do a great cocktail if that is your preference. We order from this place at least twice a week. We returned the other night because it was late and not much is open after they roll up the streets in Plano. It was a slow night and the bartender served us. Excellent service I would say and the food was top notch. They may have made some staff adjustments maybe and the place was cleaner than I had ever seen. read more

I have been a patron of this restaurant for over 19years. I used to frequent them during my lunch hour over 10 years ago. Now I've been known to drive 40 minutes just to enjoy their a chicken enchiladas, quesadillas and Queso with beef. Their food is literally "comfort food". I have yet to have anything here that wasn't good. I used to eat onsite, but now because of time and their location I typically order to go. Although I've never enjoyed a drink here, it is evident that they are extremely loyal to their patrons who you frequently see at the bar. This place is definitely an authentic "Cheers" experience. Go there for the food for sure and become a local patron as an added bonus. read more

Would give it a 5 but not necessarily a place for families. Food and service was great. Looked more like a local singles gathering spot. Great if I was back in my 20's. Not sure why I love the pizza here so much. I think it is awesome y'all have a pool table but it be nice to see a dart board. Seeing how much someone can like a football team is gross. Other than that.... I like the patio at the Richard location best! Also great spacious parking lot for sprints after a few with your friends. This location seemed closed off but not a bad spot at all! Just is not the best cafe. Solid bar though! read more

This place is like a neighborhood hot spot I stay like down the street and decided to give it a try and I was impress .. the frozen margarita was really good and strong and only $4.75 during happy hour 3-7pm which is a dollar less than when it's not happy hour which is good pricing . Cannot believe I've never been here; interesting choices on their menu. Surprisingly tasty dishes with a laid back atmosphere is exactly what I was looking for on an early Tuesday evening. went there last night. very disappointed. very violent environment. went in to order food to go - ended up watching 3-4 bar fights. felt very unsafe and left in a hurry. the bartender continued to serve them after they were visibly drunk. he continued to serve the same people after the fights. it continued to get more violent so we left. the cops were never called and the end result was broken bottles and blood all over the floor. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN. if you value your life , safety, and your dignity then you will not come here. read more

Just ate here for the first time and it was delicious! I had the sour cream chicken enchiladas which they told us is what they're known for. I was really impressed. Yum! The beans that came on the side were very good as well. The servers/bartenders were really friendly and helpful. Right off the bat the bartender Mike was a super big jerk. Literally every guest was irritated by how RUDE he was. Every time I asked for a drink I felt like I was stepping on this guys toes... get a new bartender!!! This dude sucks!! Super rude and has ZERO hospitality. Amazing food!! My husband and I came for lunch. I had the turkey melt and my husband had the chicken enchiladas. The flavor of the sandwich as remarkable.. loaded with meat, and not just lettuce and tomoato, but avocado and a clearly homemade honey mustard dressing. Nowhere on the menu was it mentioned there would be a credit card fee, nor was it articulated by a bartender. That sort of fee makes me wonder what's going on in this establishment. Not sure we'll be back.

I have now been a Cafe Gecko fan for for over 20 years and yes I enjoy my happy hours, but that's not where this review is coming from. I was able to go and watch some football yesterday and was trying to think of a place in Plano area that I could be on a patio, watch the Cowboys BEAT UP on the Packers and actually get a good meal. I remembered driving by a couple weeks ago and noticing some construction going on and realized they were building a patio cover and boy oh boy did they ever! I arrived around 2:45pm and was so surprised how incredibly beautiful and attention to detail they had done on this huge all cedar patio cover. TV's were up and sound was on. I couldn't have found a better spot for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. So for that, I say "Thank you" Cafe Gecko for always stepping up your game and being consistent for over 25 years, it's a true testament to your leadership and the quality of employees who are fortunate enough to work for such a great culture. The Chicken Quesadillas are another great choice--stuffed with plenty of well-seasoned chicken and gooey cheese, then grilled to a crispy, golden-brown perfection. Food is amazing each and every time I go, so I felt compelled to give Cafe Gecko the recognition is deserves and keeps me coming back for more on a weekly basis. Alway consistent, delicious and certainly what you would expect from a scratch kitchen. The Sour Cream "anything" are always my goto, but sometimes I just have to order one of the locally famous pizzas and add some jalapeños for an extra kick. Great for sports, food and fun ...
