Ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and it was horrible!! Noodles were thick like fettuccine, old and dry, vegetables had the worse after taste as if they weren't washed at all. The entire dish was nasty! Not fresh at all!!! Safe to say I will not be returning to this location! I ended up throwing all of it away after just tasting it. Had to chew gum to get rid of the after taste. Honestly one of the best Pick Up Stix that I have been too! I love their honey chicken and this place delivers!! Their location is clean and well maintained. The service is friendly and fast. The cooks deliver well tasting good and I don't feel like they skimp out on portions. Plus they have a 'kid' wall. I just had the worst experience with this Pick Up Stix. I ordered take out, one teriyaki chicken and one teriyaki salmon. i got 2 teriyaki chickens and had to throw them both away. The chicken was so hard it hurt my teeth. The chowmein was drowning in sauce and inedible. The rice had only a little sauce. Of course I can't comment on the salmon because I never received it. I wouldn't recommend this Pick Up Stix, but particularly be warned about the teriyaki chicken. read more

The Promenade is a new shopping center in the city of Downey. It's commercial chain stores and restaurants are already thriving since their openings this past winter. Pick Up Stix is a familiar fast food Asian eatery that has made its home at The Promenade. I was once a fan of this establishment from the first time I ate at a Pick Up Stix in San Diego. I would travel often to the Long Beach location and then to the Lakewood location. I gave this location two solid chances and I think I'm done. I have to say that the logistics deserve an A+ . There is plenty of parking, the physical establishment itself looks clean and there's plenty of room to dine indoors or outdoors, and the atmosphere is friendly. The service is great, the employees are incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is their downfall . I'm well aware that Pick Up Stix is not genuinely authentic Asian food to feast on and I've definitely had better. It just used to satisfy a craving before and it was fast. I tried their grilled salmon plate. The salmon was so dry , the white rice accompanying it was undercooked. I ate it only because I was hungry but the dish really disappointed me. How do you go wrong with grilled salmon and white rice?? I gave this location a second chance and tried the fried rice, adding shrimp and vegetables to it. I also ordered veggie spring rolls (they're of the fried variety). I took my dish to go and decided to eat a spring roll on the way home. It was cold. I don't know how long it had been sitting around or maybe they're didn't cook their frozen spring rolls all way. When I got home and dug in to my fried rice, I discovered that the shrimp were undercooked! You could almost see the grey! I put them aside because all of the shrimp were undercooked and I didn't want to get sick. At least I had my veggies. The barely cooked veggies in my fried rice. Disappointment all around for the second time. I rarely like to give any place less then a three star rating unless they deserve it. Not a fan of this new location for this chain. read more

First time at this location and pick up stix in general for several years so I forgot if I liked it our not. The menu had some tempting selections but I chose the chicken Thai sweet chili noodles which tasted wonderful and packed a little spice so I loved it! The place was clean and welcoming. Everything tasted great and freshly made so that's a plus comparing it to others. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the mood!
