I have came to this Waba Grill have gotten good customer service until yesterday. Maria is the one who helped me. I was not greeted with a hello or smile, instead with a very unpleasant attitude. She asked me if I wanted to place or pick up and I said place. She then didn't say anything afterwards and I went on to say my order. I ordered a mini bowl meal and she proceeded to roll her eyes. The whole interaction was off and impolite and made me feel like did I do something wrong ? The transaction was complete and she didn't say anything at all after. The food I ordered was not cooked right, considering it to be Downey I would expect it be more on top of this. I ordered a chicken bowl and saw that the chicken wasn't cooked all the way, the chicken was raw from the inner. I asked the cook why is this chicken raw, he said that Management wants it cooked this way so the portions look fuller. Not only did he offer to replace it but was honest with me, I won't return until I know that this location is not robbing me for my money. I believe food safety comes first. read more

I'm disappointed in Waba Grill! Waba used to be a great place to eat take out or eat in. They have definitely jumped the shark. What they charge and what you receive is amazing. I have not had an order correct since eating at this Waba. ( sometimes I think they just don't listen), I ask for green onions on the side, I don't get any, ask for extra sauce ( willing to pay for) I get maybe a 1/4 of a bowl coverage. I have never had a full bowl of steak and rice at almost a $12.00 cost I ask for a side of chicken no sauce and I get the chicken covered in extra sauce ? This is happened on various trips. The hubs enjoys the chicken bowl with brown rice and I prefer the steak and white rice. Taste is good and flavorful * two meals are $30.00 without drinks. Only use take out have never sat indoors. read more

Tell me how you're just opening the business and the white cutting board is dirty, male employee went to rinse it out but came back with it wet and proceeded to cut our chick on top of it. That cutting board needs to be replaced ASAP it has visible dark moldy spots. Poor employees too, rushing to open, unable to have clean kiosks registers doors and windows prior to customers arriving. Closing shift needs to leave place clean or another person needs to help them. First and last time going there. My personal experience recognizes Waba Grill for bland food. It'd been a few years since I'd tried them, so I thought a COVID-19 quarantine delivery on 5/19/20 was in order. Through Postmates I got $.99 delivery. Not bad. The order went through at 5:39PM and was at our doorstep at 6:04. Again, not bad. The food overall, though, while fresh and certainly healthy just isn't all that satisfying even with garlic Serrano sauce, WaBa sauce, soy sauce, Sriracha... geeze. One daughter wanted the chicken veggie bowl with white rice and no sauce ($10.19). She ended up wanting "some kind of sauce." The other girl wanted the shrimp veggie bowl with white rice and WaBa sauce ($13.90). This girl didn't like the WaBa sauce. I couldn't win for trying. Two fails in a row. My salmon veggie bowl with brown rice and garlic Serrano sauce ($13.09) was A-okay. Bland. Not a very large portion. The most disappointing item was the side cucumber edamame kimchi ($2.25). Why so sweet? If your tastebuds aren't on a bland diet, then pass. read more

Picked dinner up from here last night and had an awful experience. We had three bowls which totaled $34. They had a promotion for free dumplings if you spend $20 or more and we spent well above that. They would not honor it. They insisted that the promotion was over when it clearly states april 23-April 24. Aside from that the food was cold and the steak bowl was super salty. Dont recommend this location as they don't honor their own promotion and the quality of the food is not all there. read more

I had really great service as soon as I walked in. I was greeted and serviced by Yulianna. I was waiting for my food and accidentally spilled my drink and when I told her she was nice enough to tell me it happens. Definitely appreciated that because I felt really bad. I came here to grab dinner with my boyfriend, we did not have change for $100 bill and when we handed our money to the guy working the register he denied taking our money accusing us of having a fake bill. He ran our bill under the machine and checked it with a pen and it PASSED, yet he still laughed and said he will not accept our money as he kept saying it's fake. I ended up paying with my debit card so we can just get our food and leave. I will not be coming back to this location as I felt degraded for trying to pay with my money.. Do not order on line the order will get cancelled and you will have a very hard time getting your m9ney back. I ordered the weekend right after Christmas and still no refund/ credit to my card after calling many times and getting the around from the manager or telling me she has to make a call or will look into it and will call me back, no return call so I call back and she is gone for the day. I called the corporate office and was told they are a franchise and the refund comes directly from them but was going to send a notification to them an they have a couple days to refund and was told if not received by Monday call them back. I'm ready to go in and make a scene. It's over 30.00 that they owe me. I have CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE, they stated you are a franchise and refund comes from your store. They were sending information to you and was told to call back today if refund was not received. So stop telling people to contact then. I seen another review that you are doing the same thing and the manager stated that were other people that their order was cancelled and need to be refunded. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I have eaten at different Waba Grills and their serving of the protein was never this chintzy . I watched the person prepare my beef bowls and literally put a small pinch of meat and spread it as to make it seam that the rice was being covered by the meat protein then given to the person finishing the bowl just slather the sauce to make up for the small protein. It was literally a mush of over sauced meat , I never ever had this served by any other WaBa restaurants. The person serving the food was pleasant to deal with but the food was a great disappointment. I only have one suggestion to management please look at what your serving your customers a quality control check would greatly help . Standardize your serving size the person preparing the meals was just eyeballing the amount and spreading the meat around . He was placing pieces of meat here and there scattered pieces here and there. read more

Today, March 6, 2019, I had just enjoyed eating at the nearby Roundtable Pizza restaurant when despite the rain, I decided to dash in and buy a couple of bottles of Pepsi-Cola from Waba Grill before hoping on the Downey Link bus to go home. I walked in, set my shopping bag upon an empty table and fetched my money from the bag. All the while I could feel someone looking intensely at me. I look up, and sure enough, a young woman behind the counter was staring at me. As her stare was one of neither hospitality nor kindness, I held up the $10 bill I selected from my bag so that it could meet her eyes; and I looked at her with the same unfriendliness to which she was subjecting me. I chose the two bottles from the case; and the other young woman with whom she was working the counter--and who had joined in the rude stares--rang me up. The other lady did not even proffer a "Thank you." She merely handed me my change and muttered something such as "Have a nice day." Summation and why I will never again spend one cent of my money at the Downey Waba Grill: Two stone-faced ding bats whose neck size equal their IQ's passing judgment upon a guy who's a top-30 university graduate, 2-service veteran, former DA's Office Law Clerk, current benefactor at a major college baseball program...selling me their overpriced soft drinks as though they are DOING ME A FAVOR...plus, to me, the food Waba makes looks like the bottom of a bird cage. read more

Came here for the first time with my little sister, and I have to say the service was excellent. Staff was kind, professional, and very helpful. Especially Christina, she's the one who helped me and my sister order and she was very patient with us. Food was delicious, of course no complaints there. The ambience here (vibe) is very chill, relaxing and very much welcoming.
