Coming to university village often over the years, we've tried every restaurant there besides piatti so we thought we'd give it a shot. Upon entering, the inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Nice huge bar area with lots of seating inside. Even an area to sit outside. The hostess and our waitress were very kind, and we had all our questions answered and food was served promptly. The two things that I couldn't overlook was that the food didn't stand out to us and the flavor was a little lackluster. It didn't leave an impression on us that would set it apart from other Italian restaurants we've been too and hence probably wouldn't come back here again. Second, there was a 5% surcharge added. I saw in some other review that I was mentioned on the menu, but it didn't come across our eyes so it came as a surprise at the end and so we had to ask our waitress. Plus, I'm not sure as I now realized that I didn't get an electronic receipt to look back upon, but I think that the suggested tip amount included the surcharge instead of the subtotal of the food which I don't like when restaurants do that. read more

Piatti - Bottom: campenelle Top: squid ink linguine - Italian Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I came in here a few weeks ago while waiting for my prescription to be filled. I needed to kill 30 minutes and was hungry. I had never been to Piatti before and decided to give them a try. I came during happy hour and was seated quickly. I requested a seat at the bar since I knew I wasn't going to stay long. Ok, the ambiance give off the air of a high class establishment but in typical Seattle fashion, everyone was dressed casual and prepared for our weather. I know that Piatti closed for a while while it went through renovations, so I don't know what the original setup was, but it looked very nice in there to me. At the bar I ordered from the happy hour menu. I got the margarita flat bread and a water. The cocktails looked great, but it just wasn't that kind of night for me. The flat bread was just ok, maybe even mediocre, as it was so very basic, that I don't remember much about it. It was something that I could have made myself at home. Thankfully, it was the cheapest thing on the happy hour menu at about bucks. I wish I could write more, but I didn't stay long nor order much. I don't go out to eat Italian food much, but I do plan on returning to Piatti to try more items. It is a nice restaurant that is perfect for a date. read more

Found this place during our trip to University Village. We went during their happy hours - so got couple of drinks and appetizers. Really enjoyed both the appetizers. Fritto Misto had lemon rinds and olives lightly fried added to the calamari mix which was a refreshing surprise. We got variety of whites to go with the appetizers and it paired really well. They have both indoor and outdoor seating - since the sun was out, we opted for outdoor seating and it was just blissful. Looking forward to coming back with a bigger appetite to try out more from the menu! read more

[Review based on appetizers] I always wanted to try this place and finally got a chance to. I only ordered appetizers and would love to try the entrées the next time. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Sunday night when we came in. Our server was delightful and accommodating to my friend's dietary restrictions. I ordered the focaccia bread and meatballs. The focaccia was fresh and the balsamic vinegar complimented the bread well. The meatballs came with a thick layer of mozzarella on top and I enjoyed the marinara sauce. Took one star off because the food was good but didn't wow me :D it's a decent place for appetizers though. read more

Seemed like the service staff was new and drinks and apps came out at improper times. Drinks after apps and bread after meals. Caesar was good, white bean soup was good, meatballs were good. Soggy eggplant parm, mixed reviews on the chicken alfredo, overall a little bland but not terrible. Biggest takeaway: avoid rosemary lemonade at all costs it is watery and sour even for sour lovers with no lemon or rosemary flavor to speak of except for a large sprig climbing towards your nose. Ginger soda was amazing although small for the price--par for the course and expected there so i enjoyed it. Good ambiance read more

Service is very good, the servers are lovely. The food however is not. The meatballs have a pate like consistency and is too sour. The squid ink pasta just tastes weird. The flatbread was good though. read more

Came here with a friend last night and we loved it! Our waitress, Deb, was so friendly and helpful. We started with the warm bread and oil. Piatti - Caesar Salad with salmon. Eggplant parmigiana. - Italian Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Cute location for a week-day date or get together with friends. Tables were seated fairly close together but the ambiance was cozy, especially the table candles and low lighting. Wine selection was reasonable but had very few options for pours as many required the entire bottle be purchased. We enjoyed our server as he was friendly and attentive, and corrected an oversight with payment when we pointed it out. The food was good for an Italian restaurant, all food was definitely house made, and incorporated a range of Italian dish options aside from pasta. Appetizer options were solid. We enjoyed the Fried chicken saltimbocca the most of all dishes we tried that night. Overall a solid option for an elevated dining experience, and matches the general price range of University Village eateries. read more

Beautiful restaurant in the U-Village. We randomly chose this spot and it's so clean and modern inside. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We ordered the fresh made focaccia for our appetizer and it was so airy and moist. It was one of the best focaccias I've ever had! I ordered the chopped salad. It was okay. Kind of overpriced at $16. My daughter got the kids cheese pizza and it was huge! My sister ordered their bolognese and it was amazing! Good size portion too. We had a great time! We recommend if you are craving some italian. read more

My family has eaten at Piatti for years, and I occasionally meet friends there, especially in the summers because I enjoy dining al fresco on the lovely patios. Always enjoy the focaccia and dipping vinaigrette and am never disappointed with my meal choices or wine. Today's pasta lunch and service were wonderful, but that service charge? What? It feels like the owners are trying to blame the customer for living and dining in a city with a fair minimum wage law, or the waitstaff (who deserve to be paid fairly) by making them be the ones to deal uncomfortably with customer questions about the corporate surcharge. I'm very disappointed that this how my meal ended. read more

Sadly we will not return any time soon. Very unfortunate as this was an excellent venue whenever we would shop or hang out at U village and had so many countless delicious meals here. Today we ordered: Meat & cheese board (you must skip if you know and like good cheese, charcuterie board, etc. cheese tasted off and meats tasted rubbery and gross) Marinated olives (maybe the only acceptable item on menu) Calamari (terrible and funky old taste to it) Squid ink pasta (the grossest, overcooked, lukewarm pasta I have ever had) Roasted chicken (halfway decent though not impressive) Pepperoni pizza (can't really go wrong but even then it was meh) Rigatoni (sauce borderline ok but overcooked pasta ruined it) As you can see above, it was an extremely disappointing and terrible dining experience. The server seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. No utensils, spilling things, not bringing fresh replacements out etc. The list goes on to add to this unsatisfactory and horrific experience. After the meal, I asked if there were new kitchen staff. Indeed there are. In fact kitchen staff, servers are almost all new apparently. Wish we would have known that before we dropped $160 on a meal here. Oh well. Live and learn. Somebody better learn from my experience and save their money or get a much better meal/service elsewhere. read more

We walked in and we were greeted by the super awesome hostess! I think her name was Rachel she needs a raise! There were lovely holiday decorations and trees with little pasta ornaments. We were seated very quickly opon arrival with reservation. Staff were very helpful and attentive with water, menus, and such. Food was very kid friendly, the kids menu has tons of options for picky eaters. We ordered and the appetizers came quickly after, and meals took a little longer but they were delicious! read more

The burrata is so good!!!! like amazing seriously I go back just for it, however they really need to serve more bread with it. The green pasta ravioli was just okay it honestly tasted really oily and I would not order it again. The service is honestly only okay and I have definitely gotten treated differently by the workers there depending on how put together I looked or how many people I'm there with that day. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and they have olive green velvet booths for a lot of the tables which are gorgeous! read more

The ambiance in U Village is always nice; therefore, The outside seating at Piatti felt super welcoming. However, when you walked into the main restaurant, their seating there seemed sparse and spread out. I don't know if that was due to COVID, but it almost seemed exaggerated from how far apart each table was. The waiter was very nice and super accommodating. We had a person in our party running late and he was nice enough to wait for our entire party to come while still accommodating those who were there. He's probably the reason why this restaurant gets any stars because the food was quite a disappointment. For apps we ordered a margarita pizza, hot bread, and Brussels sprouts. The pizza crust was extremely salty while the sprouts were a bit over cooked and burnt. I got the squid ink pasta, which was a spin off from clam linguini but the taste was quite mild. The two dishes that really stood out (in a bad way) was the beef and polenta dish, and the ravioli. The beef ravioli was very heavy and the polenta turned rubbery after a while. The sauce the ravioli was drenched in started off very sour, which hid it from the fact that it was super salty. Overall, the service was great but there needs to be more emphasis on the food. You could probably get more bang for your buck at Olive Garden. read more

The pasta was salty to the point where I simply couldn't eat it. Literally, could not force it down. I politely brought it to the server's attention, and they had it remade. They couldn't have been nicer. I'm not sure I agree with adding a 5% surcharge to every bill. read more

You MUST get the funghi pizza. Simply delicious. Garlicky, mushroomy, aromatic, amazing all around. Came here with a friend a few weeks ago and we dined outdoors. I'm not sure if it's because I tried only these two meals, but I loved them both! The light was a bit too dim, but it definitely gives off a casual, romantic vibe. We ordered the lamb and the lasagnas. I'm usually quite picky about lamb because it's very difficult to cook properly, but this one was actually quite tender. The lasagnas were definitely better than average. Most lasagnas I have are usually quite bland, but this one was very well cooked and crispy on the edges. Overall, a nice option if you want to go on a date or just want decent Italian food :) read more

Watch your bill. They are adding a 5% "surcharge" to your food order (I was one person). When I inquired, the poor waitstaff struggled to explain it as some kind of "management fee" that helps with their "staff training." They immediately offered to removed it. I felt bad for the staff. This is dishonest. If Piatti's management needs more revenue, they should adjust their menu prices rather than trying to pull one over on their guests. read more

My only regret is not trying this place sooner. At U-Village, I tend to stick to the basics - DTF and Joeys and head to Molly Moons for dessert. But, I hadn't planned far enough in advance and couldn't get a reso and didn't want to wait- this is where Piatti saved me. And I am so glad they had a last minute opening on a Friday night. We started off with focaccia and it was probably the best I've had. I've been kind of dreaming about it ever since. Then the bolognese - so so delicious but I had eaten too much focaccia to finish it all. Service was quick and super friendly. We'll definitely be back to share the place with others! read more

I highly recommend the wonderful experience I had at Piatti's. On this occasion I sat at the bar, and David the bartender went way and beyond providing five star service. He looked up how to make a speciality cocktail for me that was not on the menu, and he kept me entertained with his fantastic sense of humor! The food is delicious! I recommend the Bolognese! The restaurant manager Jillian made me feel welcome. Piatti's has been through a new remodel. It feels warm and inviting. I would put this stop on your bucket list! read more

We put down our names and waited 40mins on friday night to sit down. They dont do phone call or online reservation. Its great that they open patio, some tables with heater, some dont. Rigatoni bolognese: my husband enjoyed it. I think its pretty standard. We agreed we had better quality somewhere else. Ravioli: big size, lemon sauce made its easier to eat. Ravioli didnt taste like freshly handmade. The shell was too thick for my like. I like the filling. With all the cream sauce and thick shell, I felt uncomfortably heavy after. Hazelnut italian soda was meh. Its better at those coffee stations on the street. Portion is not enough to fill your belly especially with the prices. Like not so hungry but not completely full for ~$50. It was the plate size itself that big. They greeted me at the door. The one who put my name down he was friendly and polite. The waitress however was quite loud and unprofessional. I felt like she rushed us to finish our food. Food was brought out, 30s later she came asked was it good. When I was still eating, she asked if she could take the plate, maybe cause I had 3 pieces left?? read more

Five stars for patient staff who accommodated my somewhat needy dining companion and for general promptness and pleasantness without being overbearing or obsequious. Good food and wine. Tasty. Nothing amazing but good and serviceable - flatbread, caesar salad. The wine, something white from Italy, was better than the food. Nice outside patio that does not suffer from loud music. Why the one-star? This is one of those restaurants that instead of simply setting their prices accordingly, makes a big point of adding a 5% charge that they say is not a tip for staff but is the amount required to "meet mandates" by which I think they mean....adhering to minimum wage laws? You need to price your goods and services so that you can pay staff a good wage instead of throwing this kind of passive aggressive fit. Which, by the way, isn't noted when you make a reservation. Huge turnoff. I think this is a new development because I don't recall seeing this on my previous visit and I would have suggested elsewhere to my colleague had it been there before. So I won't be returning. read more

Tonight we had an extremely disappointing dinner experience at Piatti, although the waitstaff was pleasant and helpful. It was definitely the worst restaurant meal we've had in many years, and we do eat out a lot. My partner had been wanting to return here after their remodel and was looking forward to a lovely dinner with my 2 adult sons, one visiting from Boston. My partner did like the ambiance from the remodel, but it does not make up for the poor quality meal. We ordered the burrata, which was okay but nothing special. House made focaccia was a bit better. The Fritto Misto was a joke. There were 2 small pieces of calamari and the vegetables were so small you couldn't figure out how to eat them or dip them, mostly consisting of batter and the portion was tiny. Dry and disappointing. My partner ordered the Bolognese which was dry and hardly had any meat in it. He said it tasted like Chef Boyardee. He had had it previously and loved it. I had the roasted chicken puttanesca which was incredibly overcooked, dry and flavorless. There was hardly any sauce to soften the blow. Unfortunately my sons ordered duplicates of what we ordered. Their response was the same. The only thing that was actually good was the tiramisu and Zeppole. Not enough to pull this sh&tty dinner out of the toilet though. We spent $50 per person not including alcohol or tip. Save your money. Do not go here. There are much better places nearby. We will never return. read more

Found a spot that has outdoor dining! Never been to this spot before so I was excited! Service was spectacular. We ordered the pizza and pasta and the server asked if we wanted bread which we said yes! The bread and oil might be the best part to be honest . The pizza and pasta came out hot which was a plus eating in the cold. Only downside to the experience was the inadequate heat. Other than that the food was above average. read more

My first time when I decided to visit this restaurant. Staff is very polite. 5 stars. Food - 1 star. I've ordered carbonara. Too much oil, didn't find carbonara creamy sauce, too much spices and over salted. I used to visit a lot of Italian restaurants around the world and this one was the worst. I consider that every small business have very tough time during pandemic, but does that mean that quality should be worse than before quarantine? Today I was the first customer and I got very bad pasta. I think, I will never come back there again. P.s. Portion size is sooo small. Not worth $15. read more

Our family used to love Piatti. Okay, so we haven't been here for over a year and it really went downhill since then. We ordered fried calamari, impossible lasagna, rigatoni, carbonara, and fungi pizza. Our fried calamari portion was so small! They also fried up some zucchini and olives to make it seem like there was more. The lasagna was okay, the carbonara was bland, the pizza was pretty good and the rigatoni was a bit too salty. We did appreciate their expanded outdoor patio seating during these covid 19 days. Maybe because of covid19 their food was so awful? Don't think we will be returning...ever. read more

We had an enjoyable lunch at Piatti's. The service was excellent! I wish I got the name of our waiter. He was so nice and patient with all our questions.
