This was my first visit to Piatti and it happened to be during their happy hour! We brought our dogs and they were very attentive to our needs and seated us right away on their patio. The service was a bit slow as we waited about 20 mins for our waiter to take our order. We started with Fritto Misto ($11 HH) and I got the piatti spritz! Calamari was very good and paired well with fried jalapeño, fried olives and zucchini! For main, we shared Margherita pizza ($10 for HH) and squid ink pasta from their main dinner menu! Pizza was delicious and such a good bang for the bucks! Pasta was great but thought the portion was a little small considering the dish is $27 and a lot of the clam shells came empty :/ overall, the ambience was great and would love to see more dishes to be added to the happy hour menu! The quality of food at Piatti fluctuates based on who the most current Chef is. As of now (August 2025), the food is FANTASTIC! It is true that the food can be so salty that it is inedible. However, it seems the chefs have heard the criticism and fixed their mistake. 1) the pasta bolognese id really yummy, sauce and meats melt in your mouth, perfectly savory and seasoned 2) Roast Chicken is moist, delicious with tasty vegetables 3) Salmon Piccata is not fishy at all, with lemony sauce goodness and seasoned vegetables 4) LOVE the Italian Wedding Soup, ordered it twice. We had a nice dinner here in the early evening on the patio. The ambiance was nice and it was convenient that it is within U Village. The service was friendly and warm but a little haphazard. We didn't get waters for some time and then we ordered two entrees and a salad to share but the salad was brought out the same time as the entrees and one entrée was never entered into the system. With the ordering issues aside, the food came out super fast, fresh and really delicious. My daughter ordered the cheese pizza and it was massive. It had great flavor and a nice char to the crust. I ordered the salmon and the salmon was perfectly cooked with a perfect crisp skin and moist and tender throughout. I loved the artichokes and fennel that complimented the dish. Very light and summery but so flavorful. My husband got the short ribs and they very tender and the sauce was luscious and flavorful. Polenta was good and the portion size was huge. We shared the chopped salad which was good but pretty standard and the flourless chocolate cake which was also good but standard. They have an interesting selection of cocktails and an extensive wine list. There were other items I would be curious to try and for the prices I felt like the quality and quantity of food was actually very reasonable. Food was very very ordinary and so was the service. Good: We were promptly given the table by the friendly hostess, though it seemed like she doesn't really eat at the restaurant. The server came to our table fast as well to give us water. The interiors and ambiance of the place looked like a decent date night place. Bad: We were vegetarian, so when we asked the server, he pointed out the items but didn't really suggest anything from the menu. After taking the order, he was seen only twice - once to serve food to us and then to give us the check. None other time within 45 mins he was seen anywhere in the restaurant. We had to return our drink to probably the manager of the restaurant after we called him. Infact the cutlery that was on the table was also dirty, so had to ask another server to get us fresh set. It felt like the server really didn't care much about the restaurant or us the customer. Food: we ordered two items - hen of the wood mushroom flatbread (3/5) - the flatbread was decent but not crisp. The outside part was a bit hard. Mod pizzas are far better than this one. Since we didn't find any pasta appealing, so we asked for a pasta in creamy alfredo sauce (no meat) - 2.5/5. It was not that much creamy and a bit bland. We were charged $25 for this plain pasta so not at all worth it. $60+ for sub-par food and sub-par service definitely amounts to overall 2/5 rating. read more

Italian cuisine is much more than pasta and pizza. They do it right here. We had pizza, bolognese pasta and salad. Their pizza is perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. What I appreciate is that their crust isn't burnt. In fact, there's a crunch to their crust without being dry and hard. They must lightly coat their crust in oil or butter because it was glossy and flavorful. This would be considered a higher-end restaurant. The kids meal was good - they were accommodating and the service was good. They answered our questions patiently. The calamari was one of our favorites. Crispy, light, and addicting. It's a must get if you like seafood. It did take a while for the food though. Afterwards, take a little stroll or go shopping! read more

We had been here before and had a pretty good experience. But this time, it looks like there were a few changes. Food - we ordered brussel sprouts and focaccia for appetizer. Sprouts were bland. It was supposed to have anchovies in it, didn't taste much of anything. We had to dip them in the olive oil/balsamic vinegar to add flavor. The focaccia was hard and tasted stale. For entrees, we ordered short rib sugu and gnocchi. The gnocchi sauce was pretty bland. If it weren't for the pancetta, the mushrooms, peas, and gnocchi would be tough to eat. The short rib sugu was the only thing that tasted decent. Service - Decent. We were in a bit of a rush so we had to order quickly. Our server checked on us once while we were eating and at the end when we were ready for check. Ambiance - seating was cozy. The restaurant is pretty open so didn't feel stuffy or anything. Stumbled on this place around 5pm with some Italian in mind. We sat in the bar area. Happy hour menu offerings were only 4 items- surprisingly. Calamari (average, lots of breading, tangy lemon aioli, good) Flatbread pizza ( very, very average crust, light on the cheese, carefully placed basil and cheese) Small ceaser salad (requested light dressing, was not served that way. Lots of tops of outer romaine used in this salad) Prawn pasta- probably the best item we ordered $30, though not a huge portion. Our server was sweet and eager. She didn't drop off our food, nor check on us til we were finished. Manager was observing the entire time, appeared to be training in session. On a scale of 1-10, a 6 overall. I read a review that said "Piatti has so much promise" and I agree with that sentiment. Walking into the restaurant, you see nice decor and friendly smiles. My family ordered 3 of their handmade pastas: the rigatoni, ravioli, and bucatini. We also ordered a couple of the rosemary aperol spritzes. FOOD: Rigatoni: average, tastes just like a red sauce pasta with meat. Ravioli: the filling was tasty, but the lemon cream sauce was a little too...sweet? It tasted similar to a cupcake with lemon frosting. I'd prefer my pasta to taste more savory than sweet so maybe the lemon cream sauce was a little too overpowering. Bucatini: we had to send back the first dish because the pasta WAS NOT DONE. It wasn't al dente, it was just underdone. We told our server and she apologized and took our dish and brought a new one. The pasta was better but overall it was also just an average dish. The sauce had a bit of spice to it and reminded me of jjampong (a Korean noodle soup dish)...which was fine just a weird similarity lol. SERVICE: Our server brought us free bread and dipping sauce because of the bucatini incident. She was also friendly, but for some reason they just disappear for long periods of time?? We ran out of water and no one refilled it for such a long time/we couldn't flag down any servers. Our family will not be returning to Piatti. Pasta should always be cooked in salted water, like sea water. The chicken had no seasoning, bland. Pasta was al dente but no flavor. The sauce Alfredo, tasted of NO garlic. Not sure who develops their menu but they need to add seasoning and flavor. Still haven't seen my server. I tip well.,I tip when tips aren't called for. This was my first visit to Piatti. I was pleased to see they have happy hour on the weekend as well. Sitting in the bar area, I had great service; prompt and friendly! I got the Piatti spritz which was well-balanced and delicious. I then ordered the "Panini of the Day," but it was actually a Panino (round sandwich roll), not a pressed panini sandwich and I wasn't in love with the bread. My otherwise lovely waiter seemed unaware of what the menu says, as he tried to school me on the difference, thinking the menu listed Panino (I'm not docking the rating for this). The flavor was Sicilian chicken with Mama Lil's peppers and a slightly spicy aioli and the flavors were great. It came with a delicious mixed green salad with cranberries, toasted sliced almonds, and bits of goat cheese. I will return. Hopefully without the scolding this time. read more

Overall, a decent place to have a work outing, assuming your group isn't in a rush. So far I've come here 3 times with my office team and each time something is off. The first time they served me an Italian soda that was missing components. The ravioli was okay but very underseasoned. The second time we came, I tried something different, a pizza and ginger ale. The pizza came out cold and I never got my ginger ale. The most recent time, I tried the pizza again, and not only was it cold it was underdone. My colleague mentioned her squid ink linguine was also underseasoned and there of course is no salt on the table to help. But hey, I got my ginger ale this time about 10 minutes AFTER all the "complicated" ones had been served. Our waitress was nice enough but she seemed not to want to look at our table and when we flagged another waiter down, he was rather rude when we asked for to-go boxes. I don't know what's going on with the restaurants in the area but it seems the quality and service have gone downhill, in general. Had the opportunity to try Piatti with a few of my friends for dinner. One of my buddies dined here before and recommended it. Focaccia (bread): olives, dipping oil. The bread was fresh baked and delicious. The oil and balsamic vinegar dip paired great with the focaccia. Spicy Pepperoni Pizza: mama lil's peppers, calabrian chili honey, mozzarella, thyme. The pizza was thin style (my favorite) and cooked just right. It was crispy, but not overly burnt. The toppings were a nice mix, especially with the peppers added in, and not too spicy. Waiter was awesome and brought over parmesan cheese, which improved the pizza further. My friends ordered the pasta and enjoyed it. They agreed that the portion sizes seemed a bit small. For the price though, I think my pizza was a pretty good value for dinner. Server was kind and helpful the whole dinner. The restaurant overall, utensils, and restrooms were clean too! read more

Wow! The kids cheese pizza is a surprisingly delight to start the review with. It was not thin crust but not thick, and was absolutely delicious and its probably the first time my kid enjoyed more than a slice and went through 70% of the entire pizza on offer. The sicilian hash was pretty good but I really liked the poached eggs on polenta for the creamy soft polenta and the veggies in pesto sauce. Judging by the initial size, we were skeptical on the food to price ratio but the portion was just right for us. All in all good food with a good ambience for a weekend brunch gathering. Updating to 3-3.5 star review. They've done a nice job reopening the patio and are offering limited dine in. HH rose wine is only $6 and perfect on a nice summer day. My HH Caesar $4. Good pricing but should had remembered my last experience...taste is OK but very salty. My clams dish was quite good. Smaller portion for $13 but not terrible. The meat sauce on top had a nice flavor. Satisfying meal overall. Staff are friendly and check on you regularly. They have a new system where you can scan your bill and pay online through your phone. I came in here a few weeks ago while waiting for my prescription to be filled. I needed to kill 30 minutes and was hungry. I had never been to Piatti before and decided to give them a try. I came during happy hour and was seated quickly. I requested a seat at the bar since I knew I wasn't going to stay long. Ok, the ambiance give off the air of a high class establishment but in typical Seattle fashion, everyone was dressed casual and prepared for our weather. I know that Piatti closed for a while while it went through renovations, so I don't know what the original setup was, but it looked very nice in there to me. At the bar I ordered from the happy hour menu. I got the margarita flat bread and a water. The cocktails looked great, but it just wasn't that kind of night for me. The flat bread was just ok, maybe even mediocre, as it was so very basic, that I don't remember much about it. It was something that I could have made myself at home. Thankfully, it was the cheapest thing on the happy hour menu at about bucks. I wish I could write more, but I didn't stay long nor order much. I don't go out to eat Italian food much, but I do plan on returning to Piatti to try more items. It is a nice restaurant that is perfect for a date. read more

Coming to university village often over the years, we've tried every restaurant there besides piatti so we thought we'd give it a shot. Upon entering, the inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Nice huge bar area with lots of seating inside. Even an area to sit outside. The hostess and our waitress were very kind, and we had all our questions answered and food was served promptly. The two things that I couldn't overlook was that the food didn't stand out to us and the flavor was a little lackluster. It didn't leave an impression on us that would set it apart from other Italian restaurants we've been too and hence probably wouldn't come back here again. Second, there was a 5% surcharge added. I saw in some other review that I was mentioned on the menu, but it didn't come across our eyes so it came as a surprise at the end and so we had to ask our waitress. Plus, I'm not sure as I now realized that I didn't get an electronic receipt to look back upon, but I think that the suggested tip amount included the surcharge instead of the subtotal of the food which I don't like when restaurants do that. read more

Found this place during our trip to University Village. We went during their happy hours - so got couple of drinks and appetizers. Really enjoyed both the appetizers. Fritto Misto had lemon rinds and olives lightly fried added to the calamari mix which was a refreshing surprise. We got variety of whites to go with the appetizers and it paired really well. They have both indoor and outdoor seating - since the sun was out, we opted for outdoor seating and it was just blissful.
