I love Piatti! It's fabulous. I am from Northern Italy and grew up eating really good food. I normally am very disappointed in Italian restaurants here in the states. I usually skip them altogether. Luckily, I gave Piatti a chance and was pleasantly surprised. The recipes blend the best of Italy and California with elegance and ingenuity. The food is bold, delicate and delicious. They use wonderful fresh ingredients. The ambiance is nice, as are the wait staff. read more

Service was very good, food fair, ambience attractive. We were in the "fireside room" and as we were having our coffee and dessert, staff came in and rearranged furniture, moved tables, and basically set up for the next day. We definately felt rushed out. Nobody was rude - just a strange end to an enjoyable evening. read more

We just hosted our children's B'nai Mitzvah at Piatti and I can't say enough wonderful things about the food, the decor, the staff, the catering manager - and that view! It was beautiful. This review is long over due. My wife and I had our wedding reception at Piatti Mill Valley October 13, 2013 and it was AMAZING. After a long search for a spot, we narrowed it down to about five places. Part of our process was doing secret shops at our potential venues. Piatti totally blew everybody else out of the water. After a delicious dinner and fantastic service, we knew we had our place. We got connected with their event coordinator Kristin Lehmkul and she is GREAT to work with. She had us come in and taste our options, which made the selection process so much easier. She helped us with details like a food allergy of one of our guests and let us set up the night before. The day of our reception was absolutely perfect. The wait staff and bartenders were so much fun! They were all super courteous, prompt and seemed to be having a good time. All of our guests were commenting on how great the staff and food was (let's be honest, some banquet food is subpar). The manager that day was Cindy and she was on hand to made sure things flowed well. Not a single glass was empty the entire time and nobody was rushed to finish food. The Bay View Room is beautiful. It's on the second floor and overlooks Richardson's bay with Mt. Tamalpais in the background. It is so picturesque and provided a lovely backdrop. We cannot thank Piatti enough for helping to make our wedding day so perfect!! ***In case you're wondering, the price was very fair. Most times as soon as you mention wedding the price seems to double. Not the case here, which we're grateful for. read more

We hosted a wedding reception for 40 guests at Piatti in Mill Valley recently. The restaurant is by Richardson Bay with a view of Mount Tam providing the upstairs room with a beautiful setting. Kristin Lehmkuhl, the event coordinator was extremely helpful in planning the event. Josh and his wait staff knew how we wantd the service to go and were attentive to all the details. Comments from our guests on the professional service and quality of food was very favorable. The photographer, Jarret Standard showed such energy and spirit that made our guests relax. As a result he was able to catch the mood of the party and get photos of our guests enjoying themselves. Many told me what a great party we hosted. I began liking Piatti's in Danville first, and then in Mill Valley. The food is very good and consistent, and being a vegetarian they don't mind my asking for vegetable variations of their menu items. Super view and nice ambiance - although I always want to sit the farthest from the bar where there is a separate energy. My family and I also come here for special occasions and holidays - like Thanksgiving. It is a place for people of all ages/abilities (strollers and wheelchairs are welcome) and one gets the feeling that Piatti's matches our diverse community ... at least the staff is very nice to all - even if some reviewers do not appear to like small children. read more

Gave Piatti another chance after their recent remodel and went in with my wife and a business associate about a week ago. Waterfront view has always been a plus, interior looks wonderful, the service was great, Cindy, the manager, was warm and gracious, but the food....oh, the food....still extremely disappointing!!! Everything sounded absolutely delicious in print, of course, but when I tried the pasta supposedly made with prosciutto (?), I felt like I was eating overcooked bits of bacon intermingled with and extremely oily mix of tomato sauce, pasta, and cheese all thrown into the bowl. The bowl itself was splattered with sauce and looked very messy. If you're going to charge about $16 for a bowl of pasta, at least make it look nice! Moreover, my wife tried the shrimp pasta with tomatoes and arugula.....the 5 shrimp were WAY overcooked to the point of being tough and chewy, maybe 3 or four sprigs of arugula were in the dish, and one single (and delicious) roasted tomato found its way into the, once again, totally oily bath saturating the bottom of the bowl. Again, disappointing. Finally, My associate tried a halibut special they were offering that evening and was also saddened by the presentation. The halibut had fallen to pieces on the way from the kitchen to the table and just looked like a white, oily slab sitting amongst a corn and bean hash. I'm no chef, but the finer restaurants manage to sear the filet just so to give it a beautiful light brown crust while preserving the tender, flaky, interior... I wish I could say my wife and I would go back, but for the prices of their food items, there just seems to be too little TLC put into the preparation and presentation. I appreciate their effort to revamp Piatti, but a beautiful remodel isn't going to save what is otherwise mediocre Italian cuisine. Come on guys! Step it up an notch in your kitchen, and you'll be amazed at the results! If anything, lighten up on the butter and oil!! read more

We recently had a wedding shower in the private room at Piatti restaurant in Mill Valley. Everything was first rate. Kristin the special events coordinator, made the planning part of the event effortless. She knew the best way to set up the room as well as the best menu selections. Throughout the process she answered our questions promptly and professionally. The room was perfect, with a picture perfect day, beautiful views and a wonderful fireplace. The food was very good, the best we have had in a long time. Everyone was served on time , all at the same time, with twenty people that was wonderful. The waiters were great and we were never made to feel we needed to leave( we were there for four hours). We would definitely book another event there, FIRST RATE ALL THE WAY! read more

Went there for lunch today. Server recommended arugula salmon salad - was ALL arugula and almost no salmon. Three inedible salads, three beers, coffee and 1 dessert for a whopping $150 bill. Who wants to eat a bowlful of arugula?. Then the waitress spilled a full glass of water all over my father's lap as she is presenting the $150 bill. read more

In October I held my wedding reception for 75 people in Piatti's beautiful event space on the second level, and it was the best decision we could have made. Both my husband and I agreed that it was one of the best experiences we've ever had at a reception and it was our own! The event manager Kristin was accommodating and easy to work with throughout the planning process. One of the best benefits to choosing Piatti for our reception was the amazing quality of the food and wine from which to choose, all while being affordable! We were able to do a tasting of the food and wines to help choose our menu. Not once did we have to worry about food, drinks, service, tables, linen, tableware, dinnerware, etc. It was all seamlessly taken care of by Piatti's staff. The space is beautiful too: big windows overlooking Richardson Bay, neutral palette of whites with minimal table decoration to make it pop. We brought in a dance floor and DJ with additional up-lighting and it created the ambiance for an amazing dance party. This space was perfect for the number of guests we had, but once it gets past 100 guests the space might feel tight. I must highly recommend Piatti for a large party or reception, they will ensure everything goes off perfectly! read more

Piatti's is a MUST in Marin! Not only is the location convenient but the view out West is amazing. I recently hosted a work party here and they were so easy and fantastic to work with. I rented out the entire space and even brought in some equipment from an outside vendor, they didn't bat a eyelash and even cleared the restaurant for ease of moving in the equipment. Then didn't even think to complain when I asked for them to bring some of the tables and chairs back in. And the food! Oh my gosh Todd is amazing. After meeting him the first time I knew I had nothing to worry about when it came to the food. And I was right, it was FANTASTIC! We had mostly passed appetizers but I went for a couple lunches and dinners prior to the event and the pizza and gnocchi floor me, so good and they keep me coming back. As for the service, not only were they attentive during my lunch and dinner trips but during my party not a single person wanted for anything, the food and drinks were moving through seamlessly. I have heard nothing but excellent things from my coworkers, who have rated this the best party ever. I have Piatti's to thank for that and I would not hesitate to have my next party with them. read more

Gorgeous views of Mt Tam and Richardson's Bay but unfortunately they pull down the screen shades at 5:30 till the sun goes down and the best views of the day are obscured. I mentioned this to the hostess and she pressed the button that raises them, ah great views restored! Then the Manager swung by and pressed the button to lower the shades. I went over the Manager and said that I asked the hostess to raise them and she said that it was a management decision to lower the shades in the late afternoon till sundown and there was no exception to that rule. So although the restaurant advertises stunning views, management has decided to obscure the view at the best time of the day: sundown and sunset. This lack of intelligence (and heavy-handedness) really casts a pall over the usually good food and drinks there and makes one wonder how the same mindlessness affects the quality of the food. They will not see me there again. read more
