Fresh baked gluten free goodies. Beautiful outdoor space. Friendly staff. Prompt service. Cinnamon roll, latte, and americano were good.

Fully GF bakery. One of the best lemon bars I've ever eaten the chocolate chip banana bread was also super yummy and perfectly moist.

Recently enjoyed a quick breakfast bite from this adorable bakery in Mill Valley Lumber Yard. They feature fresh wholesome ingredients and it's delicious! My personal favorite was the Stinson and the Orange polenta cake. Yum. Serving staff were pleasant and orders came out quickly despite the long line to order. Really love the overall vibe here. But make sure to check the menu ahead of time. If you're hoping to find a traditional breakfast combo with bacon, this may not be the place for you. Will stop by here again while visiting Mill Valley.

This place was everything I needed and more. Been struggling with a health condition that requires me to eat gluten free and as someone who really loves food, it's been difficult to eat out and generally emotionally taxing. I legit shed tears eating this cookie and bagel because I was so happy to find an abundance of exclusively gluten free items that taste incredible! I will be going back every time I visit the area! Thank you for your service. It's also so cute and scenic around.

lol. smoosh mess. zero care by staff.

I love the food and the menu here so much, and the courtyard garden is always such a vibe. One of my favorite spots in Mill Valley and someplace that I cherish as a treasured, quintessential Marin gem. However, if you order ANYTHING from this bakery that involves frosting or icing of any kind, prepare for it to get absolutely wrecked and ruined by the younger staff, and you will have to pick it apart with a knife and fork to figure out how to eat it lol. Forget plating it. It's a mess. Jeremy is one of the amazing staff working here, and he is awesome. But if you catch one of the young kids they employ, your frosting cookie or icing cake will just get demolished and smushed in their messy packaging -- and you will lose all frosting or icing nevermind plating appearance of any kind besides a giant goopy crumbly mixed up mess. Food is great. Taste is great. Vibe is a vibe. Zero pride in baked goods plating packaging or handling.

This is how tiny the expensive iced tea is! I'm a small woman. No refills! Crazy.
    Kelli B.

This is a cute place with a nice menu and a beautiful patio outside. BUT. It's expensive, which would be fine if they offered the simplest of things, like a refill on the ice tea (which was absolutely tiny, see the attached pic), or ketchup to go with the fried hash browns (they don't have any, I had to get some from the watershed restaurant). Attending to these small details would make me a happy customer. Too bad!

Coffee cake with cacao nibs and walnuts
    Lorissa W.

This is a very small nondescript bakery that you will easily pass by without noticing in this mall area. The size is small and reminds me of a liquor store. They do have a decent selection of small muffins and cakes. Originally I came to try the orange polenta cake but honestly it didn't look anything special to me. What stood out to me the most was their cacao nibs walnut coffee cake. I bought a slice and had it at home with some chai tea. It was the best coffee cake I ever had. I loved the crunchy cacao nibs on the cake. There was a swirl in the middle of the cake that had very nice milky coffee flavor. The five stars is just for this coffee cake which I plan on having more in the future whenever I'm in Mill Valley.

    Vegan donut and Scone
    Anthony W.

I'm not a sweets person but... This place is bomb. I had a vegan donut here recently and I definitely wanted to come back. We were kinda undecided on what we wanted to order and the person who helped us was super chill snd helpful. So glad we went with her recommendations. I'll definitely be back. I gotta try more stuff!

Jazzy avocado toast and savory waffle! Matcha latte and sourdough chocolate chip cookie
    Haley L.

Went yesterday with a friend. Got the jazzy avocado toast with hot smoked trout. Sneaky good. The chocolate chip cookie was amazing and the presentation of all of it was perfect. We sat outside and enjoyed! Matcha was ok, but I'd probably go for a coffee next time anyways. We will be back such a cute spot

We went on a Saturday morning and got lucky with no line. I ordered an iced vanilla latte, avocado toast with salmon, and it was so hard to pick between all the pastries but I got a pistachio pound cake. There was ample outdoor seating and I enjoyed sipping on my latte in the sun surrounded by people walking with their dogs. My salmon avocado toast was good and it was a big portion I could barely finish. And my pastry was delicious!

    The empty chicken salad wrap.
    Sean B.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, the main issue is: there wasn't much food inside this wrap. I understand the costs are high, but we must consider the cost to the consumer for what you get right? Try the wrap and consider the amount of protein provided is my suggestion.

Classic avocado toast & Loaded avocado toast
    Yoojin S.

My favorite avocado toast in California!! They have a lot of interesting toasts and tartines, but don't miss their classic avocado toast! It's simple but the blend of avocado toast, herb cream cheese, olive oil, chili flakes, on their protein toast is so good! I think it's also their bread that makes it special - I'm not gluten free but their bread is so spongy soft and just crunchy at the edges - it's so good!! We also got the loaded avocado toast - classic with smoked salmon and egg and I think this is the one. It's the same as classic with a perfect gooey runny egg and good quality smoked salmon. The area is super cute with lots of outdoor seats, shops, and parking! This will be my stop in any north bay adventure.

    Wonderful spot to hang out
    Alan R.

Flower craft is an institution. What a gift to Marin County. This one you wouldn't know the food was gluten-free, but it is and I love it. Check out any of the goodies. The chocolate croissants would sell out in an hour or two on weekends the salads to go oh my God, the bread, it's great. Lots of drinks special bagels are and waffles. Fun thing about this place is it's hard to make a decision because there's so many good options. If your gluten-free just pull up a trailer and move in this place is insane. You'll you'll always come back if you're not gluten-free and enjoy grape food the spot is for you.

    Outdoor seating. Absolutely lovely setting.

First of all, we came during an off-hour, around 3:30pm, and there was still a line to order at the counter. They provided complementary ice water from a dispenser outside with cups, which was really nice. Once we placed our orders, we stood outside with everyone else as the indoor area is pretty small with only limited counter seating at the window. We waited about 5 minutes to order and another 10-15 for our food. Most people set up camp on the tailgates of their cars in the parking lot, so we did the same. Pro tip: some people brought camping chairs and coolers to make it into a real tailgate, which I thought was really cool. - Pollo al horno: ordered the Large plate which came with generous portion of chicken, white rice, choice of fried garlic plantain or sweet plantain (or one of each), side of beans (choice of black or pink), and a side salad. Chicken was marinated very nicely and wasn't too dry. - Bistec encebollado: ordered the Large plate also which came with the same as above. Steak was cooked well and surprisingly tender enough to cut easily. Both plantains were good but I really liked the garlic one because it was different than the sweet plantains I'm used to. The Large plate portion sizes were huge! Although the price did reflect this, I think it was still worth for the amount of food given.

The flavors were authentic and flavorful without being overly Americanized. The pork curry was absolutely delicious and is definitely a must-order. I also got the tea leaf salad and immediately wished I had ordered the large because you can never have enough tea leaf salad. The palata was a great starter -- flaky, warm, and exactly what you'd want. The miso black cod was another standout. The broth it was simmered in was incredibly flavorful, and the fish was perfectly cooked. The garlic noodles were also done really well with the right noodles and great flavor -- honestly better than some places known specifically for garlic noodles. And of course, the coconut rice is always worth ordering. We skipped dessert since nothing really stood out, but I would love to see them add more traditional Burmese desserts like faluda in the future. Got there around 3pm and was told that a table for two would be about a 30 minute wait, so it was not as bad as we thought it would be, considering that the whole parking lot (which was probably the only downside; it being made of gravel and without distinct parking designations making finding a spot incredible difficult and annoying) was full. The inside vibe was great, with tons of people drinking/eating and having a good time. When we got seated, we ended up ordering just a few oysters and a 3pc fish and chips. The oysters were pretty good and fresh, with a great vinaigrette on the side to pair with them. The fish and chips, however, were the obvious stars of the show. The fish were nice and golden, with a very crisp texture, and more importantly large and generous. The fries were nicely seasoned and plentiful. The fish was really tasty (you can choose the type of fish depending on what they have on hand, and some cost extra between $2-$10. We chose the standard option for the day: Rockfish), easily one of the better fish and chips I have had - just an incredibly simple, but well executed dish. While the tartar sauce was a good pairing, the real standout pairing was Hook Fish's own carrot habanero hot sauce with the tartar sauce and the oyster vinaigrette. I have never had something like a carrot based hot sauce, but it really works by contrasting the spiciness of the habanero with a slightly sweet carrot undertone. Strange, but it gave the classic fish and chips a unique twist that sets it apart from the competition. While eating we saw tons of different dishes fly out the kitchen as well, such as poke burritos, large portions of chips and salsa/guacamole, and fish tacos. After the experience we had that day, we will be forsure making another round back to Hook Fish to try some of their other options. Their fish and chips are a must.
