I loved the mini tapioca. I've had various desserts here as well and it's a hit and miss. Overall, you're sure to impress some folks when you come over with a box of treats from Phoenix. Who would've thought to go ahead and mix thai iced tea and black grass jelly together? Only a place like Phoenix would. And you know what? That drink was bomb. We had stopped by after a very filling lunch of hainan chicken at Savoy Kitchen a block over and decided to walk off the food and walk right into Phoenix to order some specialty drinks. I was very happy with my Thai Tea Black Jello Delight and others were happy with theirs too, until numbers come in. The fun of the game is to never tell anyone the estimated amount of calories their Phoenix drink might be, even if we later tell them the fresh fruits would balance out the amount of milk and tapioca and cream in the drink, because then the damage is done. ;) read more

This review is solely based on the ridiculous change of price for the durian rolls. Why did they raise the price?!?!?! Those durian rolls were my favorite dessert to buy here. They used to sell 4 rolls for $5-$6. Now they ONLY sell 2 rolls for the same price! What the hell?!?! For me to share the durian rolls with my family of 5 I had to buy two and it's already $12-$13 for only 4 rolls. Is the flour used in the dough for the Mochi more expensive now?!?!?! Did they raise the price for durian at the markets?!?! Price is ridiculous. Way to take advantage of the supply and demand for the durian rolls but you'll lose customers trying to rip them off with that ridiculous price. Love coming here for their durian Mochi roll and mango Mochi rolls are hit or miss depend upon n which location. I also love the healthy drinks they have in the fridge. This is one of the two locations I went to which both places has really nice workers. Not much to say beside if your a durian fan than this is a must try or have. Very weird combination of ingredients. Cute little dessert shop! Makes you feel a little like you're in Asia. It's attached to the restaurant, but it's nice that you can come here separately if you aren't dining at the full-on restaurant. They have a lot of desserts, like puddings, mochis, tarts, etc., as well as a lot of drinks. Their milky drink with tapioca and fruit is popular it seems. My friend says it's her fave, but I was a little weary about trying it. I ended up with a passion fruit green tea, which was perfect and refreshing after a dinner at boiling crab. Their egg tarts were delicate and still warm!! It's a nice little spot to hang out and chat, plus seems like they're open late. It was quite crowded for 1030pm. Even after having a super filling meal next door at Phoenix's sit down restaurant, it's super hard to not step into their dessert shop, especially with the cute colorful mochi lined along the window displays! I ordered the milk tea with tapioca and black sesame sticky rice w/ coconut milk to go. The milk tea was disappointing, but mostly because I'm used to typical milk teas from chains such as Quickly's or TapEx where the milk tea is much lighter and sweeter. This one was particularly bitter and heavy, with an aftertaste similar to milk. I don't even want to get started on the tapioca, they're tiny little balls, similar to the kind found in hot asian desserts, but not soft. They're hard and flavorless, and since I hate wasting food, I'm chugging them down with the tea so I won't taste them any more than I have to. The black sesame on the other hand was YUMMY! Wasn't so much a fan of the coconut pieces on top, they weren't jellied, I don't really know what they were. But the sesame was hot, mixed together with sticky rice, and just yum. Note for next time: stick to desserts (preferably asian sounding ones) and away from the milk tea. read more

Service was good and I got several things. I used to love the Durian tapioca drink at a different location that closed down but the drinks at this location just weren't as tasty. I started to feel ill a few hours after eating and ended up throwing up. I hadn't eaten anything else except the food I'd gotten at Phoenix but wasn't sure why I'd thrown up. Tried getting it at the other branch at Arcadia but it is always sold out or not available. After coming back a couple of times, we realized that the egg tarts is freshly baked from this location and delivered to other branch, that's why it is always not unavailable at Arcadia. We tried many other bakery and this is one of the best I've had. The crust is crispy, filling is soft and tasty! It is so addictive that 1 box of 6 pieces is usually not enough for me, I will usually get 2 boxes! Try it! 9/10 I love the durians roll too. It's a love-hate dessert! Three stars goes to their desserts and price. The service here sucks. I noticed they disregard those already in line and cater more towards regulars or older asians, despite there being a line. Even though you're next in line, if a regular or older asian happens to walk in, they'll take their order before taking yours. Ughhhhhh! This made me so angry, and i usually would toss what i have down, but i reallllllly wanted to try their desserts! I'm weak! Their mochi is super good- really chewy and soft! Greetings are dished out as soon as you walk in and they are all up in your grill about what you want to eat, drink, etc. The savory foods here is simple but good, with my favorite being their boneless chicken and rice. The Hainan chicken is not bad but when you have Savoy Kitchen across the street, they get creamed in this arena. I ordered their rice porridge and it could use a little more ingredients (flavor) in it other than MSG but it kind of hit the spot. We came here to try their infamous durian and mango dessert rolls! My boyfriend's mom wanted us to bring some back for her, so we ordered a bunch. We have heard of this place before, and I personally have been here 1-2 times, but forgot what the dessert rolls tasted like. Durian roll - 4 stars - the durian is super sweet! We are huge fans of durian (and to many out there this may sound disgusting) but we were very pleased with this roll! Personally, I do not like the coconut bits disbursed on top but my boyfriend thinks it's okay. Mango roll - 2.5 stars - the mangoes used were sour and unappetizing. We were fairly disappointed. This review is only for their cappuccino custard, green tea mochi and mixed mochi. A friend of mine bought these items from this store for me to try. Since this place is known for their mochi and custard, I was really excited when I received these items. Unfortunately, the taste was not what I was expecting. The green tea mochi (filled with black sesame paste) was mushy and wet and the mixed mochi lacked flavor. All the mochi flavors were bland except the taro one. On the bright side, the cappuccino custard was pretty good. It had the right amount of coffee flavor plus sweetness.
