One of my favorite local places to eat Vietnamese food, if not my most favorite. Friendly staff and food is always good. Bathrooms are always clean as well which is important. There's no sign of neglect at this place! They're always prompt with drink refills and helpful with ordering if you have questions. As a bonus, I love how they ask your party, "you pay together, or separate?" In Canada, this is exactly how they ask you after each meal. They completely take out the awkwardness of having to tell your server or cashier when the party you're in is standing next to you. All restaurants should ask this. One thing I've always thought was rude of restaurants is to assume they'll be one person to pay entire bill by not splitting a check and leaving the group to figure the math out. Tastes okay. Got number 8 and it came kinda small and the soup heavily tasted like MSG I couldn't finish it. Not the cleanest utensils. Menu said 9.50 but was charged 11.50 tried talking about it but I don't know they just said it was the wrong menu. Don't suggest going here unless you're dying for Pho read more

This review is solely for the small sized pho (#2). I come to this place with my boyfriend once a week because their pho is that good. I've tried other restaurants with 5 stars that do not even compare to this place. It may just be the best pho I've ever tasted in my life. This is our family's go-to place when we want something good and fast, and open late night. The staff is always good to us (we come here 2-3 times a month). We never have to look at the menu because we know what numbers to order. MUST TRY: # 99: fried to perfection! # 44: if it's too hot for Pho, get this! The closest pho restaurant to go when craving Vietnamese food. I normally come here with my boyfriend or housemates when we crave pho. My boyfriend craves it all the time, especially on cold whether days. I love noodles and soup so I never complain. Their pho is pretty good, not great, but decent enough to satisfy your crave. Their prices are a little expensive though. My boyfriend and I usually share an order of a large #1 with extra noodles and egg rolls. Their egg rolls are pretty darn good though! It's like $1 a roll though ): Their customer service is not consistent. Sometimes their very attentive, sometimes they're not. Usually not. Catch them on a good day! ALSO BEWARE of checkouts! So after watching Avatar at the Riverside Plaza we scooted over to this place... we come here a lot for the spring rolls they are the BOMB and that Peanut Butter Thai is "melt in your mouth" yummilicious Thomas Jefferson had a Chai Tea (2 orders in fact) which tasted pretty fantastic I must admit! We had a stir fry which I did not like. The place was packed with students and families but we still managed to get a table within 5 minutes of walking in the door. This is Vietnamese food! KNOW WHAT YOU WANT ahead of time they are not going to walk you through the menu. They do not serve alcohol either. Parking is out back or in front and some time hard to find. We were on our way south and wanted to find a place to pull off the 215 and grab a bite. I figured the University area would have some options. There were many choices at this complex but we were drawn to this restaurant. We had hot tea and started out with the Goi Cuon shrimp and pork spring rolls and then pork and beef Bon Mi sandwiches. One of the few pho places in Riverside. Definitely not the best, but its good for its location. It's just a couple blocks away from campus so it's convenient especially if you're taking classes in the UV theatre. As far as quality goes, don't expect much. You'll be getting the simplest pho possible with a taste that doesn't really vary that much from instant pho noodles. I'm not sure how they make their soup, but its not very flavorful. I usually go with the Pho Dac Biet (No. 1), but I would recomend the bun cari ga because the curry flavor makes it at least taste like something. read more

I've been here several times and always end up getting the same thing lol. I'm so picky when it comes to Vietnamese food. I think your safe combo 40 shrimp and beef with noodles. Did I mention I never finish it either. They give you huge portions and I feel as if I waste it whenever I order it ‍. I don't think their AC works either and it's kinda an unpleasant environment to eat in the summertime. read more

(Dine-in & take-out never fails) Cold and rainy weather this is our go to place. Best pho. Number 7, 21 and Vietnamese egg rolls boom! They load up the noodles, meat and broth. It comes with sprouts, jalapeños & basil leaves. To get the fresh favors from the jalapeño & basil cut them in little pieces. Then combine the sprouts, jalapeño and basil in the soup. read more

I've been going to this restaurant for the past four years and have never been disappointed by the service or quality of food. This family-owned joint is nestled in UCR's university village so it makes it a very popular spot for students to dine in and even do some homework in between classes. The pho soups are low in price (around $7-9 depending on the type and size) and are always piping hot when served. A lot of people will beg to differ and say that this place is not a good restaurant but in all of the pho places I have been to in Riverside, this one takes the cake. Plenty of noodles, broth, and a more than generous serving of meat in the soup makes it easy for anyone to see just how good this place is. The old man who works as the server and busser is my absolute favorite: he's such a sweetheart! read more

I ordered : * #22 vegetarian pho ( rice noodles, tofu, vegetables) ( 8/10) some pho was spilt on the plate under the bowl , but it was delicious. I added soy sauce and siracha (which are provided at your table) * tofu spring rolls (rice noodle, tofu, cabbage?lol) (9/10) love the peanut sauce. They're a nice size too!! Also delicious. The Pho leaves a lot to be desired because the noodles are a bit sticky, and the fish balls were FRIED to go into the soup stock! YUK! I had to take it back but was told "that's what you ordered!" Garbage. #85 on the menu DOES NOT HAVE FRIED , BROWN FISH BALLS! That stuff was returned for what it is supposed to be; the taste is at least average. The bad part is the cashier/wait staff are EXTREMELY unfriendly and unwelcoming! A gracious and friendly, with a nice smile, "welcome" or "hello" & "Thank you, please come again"( after the customer pays) would certainly make up the difference in the lack of flavor.:/ Well, they don't do that either. First time there, and after literally 2 seconds, the cashier man asked "what do you want to order?" - the first sentence out of his mouth! No worries, I know of a better restaurant that serves Pho, that's were my money will go. Hey, that rhymes! HA! HA!:-) read more

Good little local spot here near UCR with indoor and outdoor seating. They have tasty Pho and Spring Rolls. Place is always clean. Something I also like here is you can order a fresh coconut and they'll cut open the top and give you a straw for fresh coconut water. Food came out fast and staff is very friendly here. read more

I'm scared to eat here sometimes. Food is decent but with a lack of employess, I get worried about the cleanliness of the restaurant. It's family run and when I come here for lunch, the hostess is the same as the waitress which is the same as the cashier. Food is decent with rice and noodle dishes but takes a while to order since the hostess is the waitress who cleans up the tables and runs over as the cashier. I wonder if the cook and the dish washer is the same person.. Or is it the hostess. People! Get some help. Business is good here and always busy. read more

Wow guess I've been frequenting this restaurant for years (perhaps 15 I'd say) and have never written a review?! So here goes: Taste: 4 stars. Good portions. Mostly as expected. Usually pretty good. I prefer this restaurant for my charbroiled pork dish than other places in the Riverside area. However, I once did get rice that tasted very soapy. I have eaten there as well as for pick-up. I love the Honeydew Smoothie with boba $4 total (I'd probably get it daily if it were cheaper so I guess it's good for my belly that it wasn't half the price). Atmosphere: The booths are bit old and they repainted years ago but they try to keep things clean. They get so packed some days that the seating outside even gets quite full. Service: Some of the older employees are really nice. Sometimes the middle aged ones are ok. Pretty fast service. Price: 4 stars, similar to elsewhere but rice dish actually fills me up. When I get the Pho, I sometimes have to get something else but rice plates like Chicken fried rice have been a good size and were pretty tasty. read more

We have been here so many times but on our last visit it smelt like a sewage leak i mean really bad the whole Restaurant stank. And for the first time the food was not good. It tasted off and was not very hot. The egg rolls were good but next time we come in hope it will be better otherwise we might have to find a new place. read more

This places service has gone up in stars and their food is just as delicious as ever. I recommend this pho place to every one of my friends and family because simply it's the best! Decided to try this place since it was the only pho place open. It was decent. So my sister and I decided to return. The food was ok. Service was ok. But as we ate we noticed a baby roach roaming around us. It was disgusting. Definitely ruined us for us and we will never be returning. After reading a couple reviews we found out this place was closed down last year due to a rodent problem. Eeeewwww read more

When we asked for more lemons, waiter looked over at our table to make sure we actually needed more lemons. When we asked for a sauce plate/cup, he looked bothered. Well next time just put little sauce plates on the table and we wouldn't have to ask you to get it. Like how do they not know people like to dip their meats in Siracha and Hoison sauce. Not everyone just pours it into the bowl. When we ordered our Pho, we also ordered a Banh Mi sandwich as a to go order. At the end of our meal, my wife went to pay and the check included the price with the sandwhich. She paid and asked how long the sandwich would take, they said, "what sandwich!" Uh, the one we just paid for. Cashier looked confused and asked to see the receipt. Then he went to the back and asked about the sandwich. We could hear someone in the back saying they didn't make a sandwich. Cashier apologized and we waited another 12 minutes for the sandwich. Pho was actually good but a bit on the pricey side. $20 for the Dac Biet. Next time we'll just go to Pho Ha down the street for better noodles at a cheaper price and they won't charge you for a sandwich that doesn't exist.

Very good service. Nice wait staff. A solid menu with a variety of things to choose from. I go to Big Bear regularly to snowboard during the winter and this hits the spot on my drive home. The sliced beef meatballs and the fried tofu again didn't really evoke the taste and texture of meat in a banh mi, and the protein was basically just a few thin non-overlapping slices per section of the sandwich. The worst offender-- the sandwich was dry. Vegan should mean vegan mayo, not no mayo at all. It was sooooo dry. I had to take it home and add my own mayo. I don't hate this restaurant, and I really appreciate the willingness to incorporate a vegan friendly menu. However, the pho and banh mi missed the mark for me. I'm going to have to agree that this place was not the cleanest looking place in town, but what made me come back was their friendly customer service, great pho, and reasonable prices. My wife and I had tried several different pho places in town and none compare to this place. They just can't beat the beefy flavor of the broth. I did taste a hint of sweetness in the broth and it might be sugar like someone mentioned (i don't mind the sweet flavor but some may not agree with it), but if you add a bit of lime and hot sauce, it creates a wonderful balance. I would like to note that this summer they repainted the place, removed their old stained tablecloths, and added about three more booths to the place. It made a world of a difference. First of all, I don't think I've ever met such unfriendly people in my life. You walk in and the workers either look at you and expect you to walk to an empty table or they silently point to one for you. When they bring you water, they don't say anything and just rudely set it on the table. When it's time to order, they will just stand at your table waiting for you to order all whilst looking elsewhere. And mind you, this has happened EVERY time I've come here. As for the food, it's decent but there's honestly much better. The only reason i come here is because it's so close to school. Overall 0/5 for customer service and 2/5 for the food. If you have time and gas to drive elsewhere, definitely do not come here. Also, the last time I came, my friend got really bad food poisoning from their chicken. Beware. read more

I was like a lot of people that have eaten here and considered the food pretty good. My stomach can take a lot of abuse, but I think whoever handled making the pho that I ate 1/26/14 must not have been washing hands after number 2 or something else as gross. I got gastroenteritis after eating pho. Over the next 2 days had the runs 12 times, doctor says let it run its course to get the toxins out. Well it is 1/31/14 now and you guessed it still have the runs. I just happy my family did not eat the pho, the frying must have killed the "bugs" on their food thank goodness!
