Top Grill was one of my go-to meal spots when I was still in college at UCR. Was recently in town and decided to stop by and still amazing tasting food and giant portions! Got my usual steak plate, and they really load up your box with rice and nicely seasoned chopped up steak. The sauce is similar to a teriyaki flavor. They also give you 2 extra tiny sauce cups on the side of the teriyaki and Thai sweet chili sauce if you wish for a more saucy plate. The plate also comes with salad and orange slices. VERY affordable ($12) for the amount of food you get. LOVE TOP GRILL! Parking is plentiful as this establishment is located in a shopping plaza!

We found this spot when we were looking for something easy to eat. We like the simplicity of the food, The location is within a bigger plaza so there are plenty of parking and pretty easy to find. We tried the steak bowls with white rice and brown rice. The portion is enough to get you really full and is is very delicious. There is just something about a bowl of rice topped with your choice of proteins. The staff here is very friendly as well. The price and portion is very fair and I think UCR students and locals must have loved this place. We went somewhat toward closing and there were so many people that still came to either pick up or eat in; and this is during a week day mind you. They have a restroom, a high chair, and plenty of tables inside the restaurant. There are also plenty of area to sit outside as well. I'd recommend this place and would come back again if I'm visiting the area.

The bowl honestly is a sizable amount! Super filling portions and for less than $10 is really hard to beat! Top Grill is a perfect option for a hearty and inexpensive lunch, to help you get through your day.

Food is always delicious. My preference is the salmon and rib plates. It comes with salad and oranges. The service is usually reasonable, maybe 20 minutes if I order more than one meal. The space is open. There are plenty of seats, with the option to sit outside and catch some sun. This is my goto now for good food with a home-cooked feeling! read more

The food is consistently good. I recommend the chicken plate or the combo plate both with veggies. The walk in service is always good. When calling in a take out order, the order is always perfect. No mistakes. The dining area isn't huge, but always clean. Weather permitting, I enjoy eating on the patio. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. read more

I ordered 2 Bowles with extra meat and a side of two shrimps & sat down to wait for my order to dine in..... I waited way too long for my food, and it was really frustrating to see at least 10 other people get their meals before me. It felt like I was completely overlooked, and it ruined my experience. It's been 45 mins waiting went to go ask how much long to the cashier ....& she told me that my order still needs to be made I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon if this is how it goes. read more

Solid place to get some teriyaki. The service was very friendly and welcoming, the prices were fair, and the bowls were actually packed with a lot of food. I personally liked the chicken over the steak and husband said the shrimp was good. The only complaint which you can decide if it's a factor for you or not, is that when we entered the location it smelled like shrimp and cleaning products, like really strong cleaning products. They might have just mopped I'm not too sure but it was strong enough for us to eat outside in 50 degree rainy weather. It was about an hour before closing so maybe that's why, but still not pleasant. But the food was good and the service was friendly so we'd return. read more

Was recommended to try the salmon bowl. Hands down best salmon bowl, if I were to compare it to Waba. We had lunch there just about every day for about a year. Restaurant has an inside table seating, Patio, and outdoor tables. Top grill plays great music; the plaza as well gets festive during the holiday seasons. Huge recommendation: call in your order, they usually take 10-15 mins to prepare your food so most likely if you're waiting it's because you're are waiting in line to pay. read more

First time coming, Service was quick while there was only 2 people working. I ordered the steak & chicken melted in my mouth with the good savory sauce included that added more taste. Unfortunately, the food just didn't match the atmosphere. The crab cakes were decent, about a 6/10. You get two larger cakes, but they were a little bland on their own. The jalapeño aioli carried most of the flavor, but even as someone who loves spice, it leaned overly spicy. The wedge salad was surprisingly disappointing. The lettuce wasn't very crisp, and they added ham on top of the bacon, which felt unnecessary and honestly gave the dish a cheaper feel. We ended up removing the ham altogether. The fish tacos had nicely cooked fish, but again, lacked seasoning. They also came with more jalapeño aioli, and the portions felt awkward. The fish pieces were huge compared to the tiny tortillas, so eating them turned into a full taco explosion situation. The biggest letdown was the chimichurri sea bass. For a $52 entrée, we expected much better. The fish came out completely overcooked and dense like a brick, which was extra disappointing because the chimichurri sauce and mashed potatoes were actually delicious. On the bright side, the drinks were fantastic. Refreshing, flavorful, and probably the highlight of the meal. Service at the bar was also great across the board. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the night. This place truly has so much potential because the ambiance and service are already there. We really wanted to love the food as much as we loved the vibe, but unfortunately it just didn't wow us this time around.

One of my favorite parts was the fresh tortillas. They come out hot and fresh from the oven, and you can literally watch them being made right in front of you, which made it even better. And the best part is they're free. We ordered the carne fajitas and chile relleno. The fajitas were incredible, the meat was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, with that perfect smoky sear that comes from being cooked fresh on a hot skillet. Everything came out sizzling and stayed flavorful with every bite. The chile relleno was also really good, with a nice balance of savory and slightly creamy filling that paired well with the sauce. It was actually my first time trying fajitas, and I can confidently say I'll be ordering them again the next time I come back. In the beginning it was a nice place, the owner and servers were really accommodating. I would get the chicken veggie bowl or something that has veggie with the item with no charge. Well, I go now, three weeks after opening, and order a chicken bowl with veggies no rice and the owner says it is 50 cent extra.. Why, I ask, she replies because you want only veggies. I was baffled because I am not asking for extra veggies, I am just asking them to leave out the rice from a dish that already has the appropriate amount of veggies in it. I left hungry wondering why I have to pay more to have an item removed from my dish. Nope, on principle alone on this matter my girlfriend and I (and our friends we talk to) will not return. So disappointed. I first gave this place a really great review because they were awesome and tasted really good with decent prices. They even gave us a free drink when they were recently open. But then they started nickel and diming :/ We used to get the bowl with veggies and no rice with no extra charge and all of a sudden they started charging 50 cents for it. They even wanted to charge us 50 cents if we got the rice/veggie bowl with no rice and no extra veggies. If they continue going this way, they will lose customers. They've already lost our business. Also, they need some sort of tofu bowl. Vegetarians won't want to keep coming here and eating just a veggie/rice bowl. read more

This used to be my top three chicken teriyaki bowl in my life. I returned to this place recently and it was a total disappointment. Yes, the place is clean, server(s) are nice, all is good, except food. Chicken was very dry and burnt which never happened before. Teriyaki sauce was watered down and didnt taste the same. I may had a bad luck that day, but I hope this place keeps up the way how they used to cook. This used to be a hidden gem. read more

We found maggots in our food. We think they came from the broccoli because some of them were still alive. To be fair, they did give us a full refund but that didn't make us feel much better considering how nauseated we were. They kept serving customers too.
