This food place has honestly made a lifetime customer out of me great food great service prices are amazing! I had ordered online and it didn't give me the option to customize my plate so I wrote in the notes what I wanted if possible they could make it, and when I received my food it was exactly how I wanted it through what I said in the notes!! Top Grill offers up some great (and health) selections at very affordable prices. I almost did a double-take after seeing the menu! They're located in the Canyon Crest plaza, probably serving many UCR customers and local businesses in the area. The interior of the restaurant isn't the most modern, but it does the job. When I arrived on a weekday during lunchtime, the place was full. Some people had already finished eating, but were still chatting/working at tables. We decided to go next door to the burger place before ducking back into Top Grill to try one of their bowls. They offer bowls and plates - my sister and I split the chicken steak bowl, which was only $7. They give you both chicken and steak, some steamed vegetables, and your choice of white/brown rice. The bowl was packed with food - incredibly generous portion of steak and chicken teriyaki, along with some extra sauce in case you wanted to soak the rice in flavor. Chicken was juicy and tender while the steak was cooked-well and had good flavor. Rice was also on-point and tasted much better with the teriyaki sauce poured over it. Even though we both shared a bowl, we still had enough leftover for one person to eat during dinner. Workers are pretty friendly here. They also offer boba, but that didn't look too promising to me. No minimum on credit card as well. tl;dr - Good quality food at a very affordable price. Definitely student-budget friendly. The food was great, it reminds me of Waba Grill but here at Top Grill you get more for your dollar. If you want to get more for your hard earned dollar this is the place. I had the chicken and steak plate. Everything was cooked nicely including the rice itself. They also give you some orange slices and a bit of greens on the side (with plate). The service was nice, the lady who took our order was nice and had a smile. The environment is pretty calm theres seating indoors and outdoors, it just feels very friendly. I ordered 4 chicken teriyaki and beef bowls, with white rice and a salmon bowl with white rice. The cashier that took the order said 15 minutes, when I pulled up the food was bagged. The restaurant is clean and couple tables inside, or you can also eat your food outside plenty of tables out there too. The beef was too salty, and the salmon was too dry. The rice and vegetables were good. Only place around here that has teriyaki bowls and a salmon option. read more

Great rice dishes, amazing service, lots of seating! My girlfriend and I wanted to come try out a new place near our house at the university and this was a bit of ways away. It seemed promising with a lot of good reviews so we absolutely had to try it. Normally I'd go to Waba Grill but this looked inviting! Food: Food. Is. Amazing. I love that they have white meat chicken in a plate. They even give more food than Waba Grill and it's a little cheaper as well. Their beef is also tender and juicy and you definitely can't go wrong with that. Service: The little old lady behind the cash register was really friendly and made me feel at home. She greeted us with a smile and took our order with no problems with English at all. I can't wait to come back because as I write this review, I'm craving it again already! read more

I always go out my way for a salmon bowl from Top Grill. There is no place like it. The service is quick and fast. The Salmon is always cooked just right. I wish I could figure out how they make the top crispy. After eating here, I wouldn't get a salmon bowl from any other place. read more

Located in the Canyon Crest town centre right by Starbucks; Top Grill makes a wonderful addition to this plaza. Customer service was outstanding during my visit! The lady working the front was very friendly and attentive. She hand-delivered my beverage and packed our to-go food for us. I ordered the steak plate which also comes with a side of a small salad and fruit. The Steak plate was around ~$9, which is a fair price! Definitely a closer location for me than the UV for steak/chicken bowls or plates. I really enjoyed their teriyaki sauce, as it was a lot lighter than other sauces I've tried in the past. They also offer shrimp and salmon bowls which I'll definitely have to try! The interior is pretty small and definitely doesn't match the exterior. But the service, location, and quality food will definitely make me a regular here! read more

Well, here's the truth about this place. It's just okay, nothing fancy and not super over the top. It's taste just okay. Customer service is good and food quality and prices is fair. I'd say 6 out of 10 in flavor. Also tried the milk tea, it was more like a ice cream shake than a milk tea. read more

Ordered salmon teriyaki bowl. And steak/chicken bowl. A kind man paid for my mother and I. Sooo nice. Hated I couldn't thank him. The food was decent, flavorful and consistent. Very similar to Flame Broiler.... BUT BETTER!! Food (4 stars): I decided to order the chicken steak with veggies for $7.88. The chicken and steak are really soft and delicious! They drizzle a little bit of the teriyaki sauce in the bowl and they also give you another container on the side so, you are in control of how much sauce you want in it. White rice and brown rice have no cost difference but they will not ask, you would have to request it yourself. Service (5 stars): Seems like it is a family owned business. Top Grill is consistent delivery of flavor every time. It's exactly what you expect from a teriyaki bowl restaurant. I enjoy the salmon and veggie bowl on brown rice. If you just want a snack, order a side order of chicken with avocado (keto friendly, if without sauce!). This place is so good! I ordered the salmon bowl with veggies instead of rice. Both portions were satisfactory. The salmon was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the sauce is absolutely delicious. I ordered take out and when I got home the food was still piping hot! The veggies that it came with were mostly steamed cabbage, carrots and broccoli. Everything tasted so fresh! I also got a side of chicken which was a hefty portion, I saved the rest to eat the next day. They sent me home with enough sauces, which is rare these days. The restaurant was packed, and it actually surprised me because I don't usually see that many people at restaurants in Riverside. The energy inside felt lively but still comfortable. One of my favorite parts was the fresh tortillas. They come out hot and fresh from the oven, and you can literally watch them being made right in front of you, which made it even better. And the best part is they're free. We ordered the carne fajitas and chile relleno. The fajitas were incredible, the meat was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, with that perfect smoky sear that comes from being cooked fresh on a hot skillet. Everything came out sizzling and stayed flavorful with every bite. The chile relleno was also really good, with a nice balance of savory and slightly creamy filling that paired well with the sauce. I did not like the fact that it wasn't mentioned that the beans are made with bacon until AFTER we received our food! My dad doesn't eat meat and the rice is made with chicken as well. The server did bring him something else but this needs to be stated on the menu or upon ordering! We were sat right next to where they made the tortillas and can see them being made since they had glass windows around it. However, there was one gentleman that was making tortillas who was on his cell phone texting or whatever CONSTANTLY at the same time while doing this. He had a glove on one hand and no glove on the other, and was touching the tortilla dough.....We all know how dirty a cell phone is! And what made it worse is at one point he itched the inside of his nose with his finger, and didn't even wash his hands or have gloves on after that. Definitely made my stomach turn and what caused me to go and write this review. I suggest a camera be placed at the tortilla station, add the notes about bacon in the beans and chicken in the rice, and add bell peppers to the fajitas. In the beginning it was a nice place, the owner and servers were really accommodating. I would get the chicken veggie bowl or something that has veggie with the item with no charge. Well, I go now, three weeks after opening, and order a chicken bowl with veggies no rice and the owner says it is 50 cent extra.. Why, I ask, she replies because you want only veggies. I was baffled because I am not asking for extra veggies, I am just asking them to leave out the rice from a dish that already has the appropriate amount of veggies in it. I left hungry wondering why I have to pay more to have an item removed from my dish. Nope, on principle alone on this matter my girlfriend and I (and our friends we talk to) will not return. So disappointed. I first gave this place a really great review because they were awesome and tasted really good with decent prices. They even gave us a free drink when they were recently open. But then they started nickel and diming :/ We used to get the bowl with veggies and no rice with no extra charge and all of a sudden they started charging 50 cents for it. They even wanted to charge us 50 cents if we got the rice/veggie bowl with no rice and no extra veggies. If they continue going this way, they will lose customers. They've already lost our business. Also, they need some sort of tofu bowl. Vegetarians won't want to keep coming here and eating just a veggie/rice bowl. read more

This used to be my top three chicken teriyaki bowl in my life. I returned to this place recently and it was a total disappointment. Yes, the place is clean, server(s) are nice, all is good, except food. Chicken was very dry and burnt which never happened before. Teriyaki sauce was watered down and didnt taste the same. I may had a bad luck that day, but I hope this place keeps up the way how they used to cook. This used to be a hidden gem. read more

There is a stage for performances, 2 bar areas (inside and outside) and also enough space to have corn hole and other outdoor games setup. I could see a wedding (ceremony and reception) in this great space. Great work UCR at preserving and providing The Barn, an iconic venue in Riverside.
