Pho Vinam is located two doors down from the Qamaria Yemeni Coffee and the Enter Escape Room. We were in the area when we decided to take a quick lunch break to try this spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was not crowded at all on a Saturday lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their menu has a wide variety of Chinese-Vietnamese dishes and we tried their broken rice dishes. Food came out fairly quickly and prices were reasonable for the portions. We only had an hour to eat and there was plenty of time to eat and chat because of how quickly the food came out. I ordered the #51 charbroiled beef with broken rice and my hubby ordered the #56 shredded pork and pork chop with broken rice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The menu was a bit sticky so I recommend they wipe them down once in awhile but fortunately my table had a sanitizer bottle so I made use of it after making my choices: pho tai and iced jasmine tea (unsweetened).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really love pho and am used to the broth of my favorite place in Pomona. This place had darker broth which was savory and quite good. I used all the bean sprouts, leaves, jalapeño slices and a generous squeeze of the lemon. I also used a spoonful of sriracha as needed. The rare thin slices of beef cooked quickly in piping hot broth and the noodles were well cooked. Very satisfying meal. Pretty solid Pho spot in the UV plaza. I had one of their rice dishes with charbroiled beef since it was a hot day. I was impressed with the portion size and the quality! The beef was delicious and the egg and fish sauce was great as well. The only gripe I had was that the rice was a bit clumpy but not a big deal. Good service and convenient location. In my opinion, people are being too harsh when rating the service at Asian cuisines. It's difficult to provide top-quality service (compared to American restaurants) when Asians/Immigrants in general come from a high-context society. Being born in China, restaurants, street vendors, etc., all prioritize EFFICIENCY and food quality over good service. A majority of Asian people were never taught the proper way to serve food to customers in America; All they know is to serve the food well and quickly. That's the difference in cultural norms. On the other hand, the food was amazing. The portion sizes are just enough to fill you up and make you feel like, "damn, that was a good meal". [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although the interior could use a redesign, who cares when the food is fire.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Perfect for any student or family that wants Vietnamese food near the campus. The food was decent, the staff was in a rush but they were friendly, it's probably how they get[[HIGHLIGHT]] quick service done. They were also good at being commun[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]icative with us. It was a nice place to enjoy some food and conversation. It is super close to UCR's campus, making it easy for college students such as myself. I came here to eat because I was missing home and ordered in viet and got yelled at because they were not viet and it wasn't viet owned. I apologized since I thought it was a Vietnamese restaurant it was okay to order in viet but got criticized by one of the male staff. We ordered the pho Thai and the broth itself was lacking the beef bone flavor. My boyfriend and I both got food poisoning after eating here. read more

Not a bad place if you're craving a bowl of pho. They have a big selection of Vietnamese food that range from broken rice dishes to even pho. Always ate here growing up and still has the quality I like in their food. Service was friendly and the ambiance is very homie with a nice Vietnamese man making sure we have water and food ready within minutes of sitting down. read more

It's been a while since our last visit. We recently gave it another try and I stand corrected. I appreciate that they changed the receipts to an itemized list of what you're paying for. Nothing to hide and out in the open. A complete 180 from a previous visit. The food was soothing. This place hasn't changed in appearance, hard working staff or placement of table condiments. You can reminisce about coming here while you went to college at UCR and years later come back to visit and it'll still be the same place you once remembered. Familiar faces all while enjoying that same great pho. It has once again captured me as a returning customer. So glad to see improvements for the better. got the bbq pork with fried eggs and rice! i would say for the price point, i wish there was more meat. it was a pretty small pork chop with like 3 bites of pork on it. the fish sauce was also pretty basic, just fish sauce sugar and water, not with the extra stuff other places have. i would say it's also slightly fishier than other places too. Pretty average plate and i'm not sure it's worth the price read more

My party and I went into this place for lunch around noon and the parking was as expected with the university nearby. The service was quick and efficient. The booths were a little small and tight, but seemed ok for a quick lunch. We all got the same thing, number 54 with an egg. It was good classic pork chop with an egg a sort of fish sauce? The pho wasn't too bad. It cost about $38 for 2 people. A little more on the expensive side but I got my pho fix. The portion size was good and the food was decent overall, it was convenient as it was close to campus. read more

A great day in So Cal to try a different place for lunch. We came just on the right time before the lunch crowds. The place is small but clean, well lit and feel cozy. The hosts are friendly and efficient. Foods came pretty fast. Spwcial Fried Rice was spot on. The diced meats a litte bit to dry fir my taste. The shrimps were grilled ( or pan fried ) perfectly with a slight of crispness on the outside. Pho was full of flavors. And as the egg rolls. Great place and foods. read more

love the proximity of this place to UCR's campus. i think the quality of the pho is really great too and worth the walk/short drive! i got the #18 (beef ball with rice noodles) and the portion was perfect for me, which is saying something considering that i usually have trouble finishing my meals by myself (lol) the employees were very straightforward and easy to talk to which was nice. The most crucial elements of a successful Pho restaurant are the quality of the broth and the freshness of the vegetables utilized, Pho Vinam hits both points squarely on the head and continues to deliver with perfectly cooked shrimp in the Spring Rolls, extremely light yet crispy Egg Rolls, and an abundance of rice noodles in proper ratio with the tender yet sticky tendon, bouncy meatballs, chewy tripe, and rich brisket. The only thing that doesn't make this a 5 star review is while the atmosphere isn't terrible and the staff are attentive and quick to respond to your requests the restrooms were dirty. We have been coming here for many many years. They were one of the first restaurants When the UV just opened. That's a very very long time ago. For many years we always looked passed the lack in customer service. Considering maybe the language barrier or communication gap. But tonight, tonight's experience just made them lose long time customers. The young man needs customer service training. He is always annoyed and angry. That's why we avoid to ask him for anything when we dine there. However, tonight, after we ate, we had some left overs that we wanted to take home so we needed containers. He walked by so I said "excuse me", he just kept walking. Ok. Maybe he didn't hear me. Unfortunately, he was the only one that walked passed our booth a few times so once again I said "excuse me". This time he stopped, looked right at me and as I was about to speak, he frowned and walked away. That made me angry. However, I didn't want to cause a scene. So instead my husband got up and walked up to the older gentleman and asked for to go containers and brought it back to our table. As we were leaving I decided to let the older gentleman know at the register with in a calm and low tone manner that they should talk to the young man because he is very rude and it's not good. He let me know that the young man was his son and that he's like that because he doesn't like to work with customers he prefers to be in the kitchen that's why he acts like that. So I told him that it's obvious and I agreed with him that maybe it would be better that he stay in the kitchen because with the nasty attitude they may lose customers. The gentleman started getting upset and kept saying "that's my son. That's my son....its ok if we lose customers...its ok if you don't come back...its ok you don't come back..." with that response from him, I assured him that I will definitely not come back and will make sure my friend and family don't either. We will take our business elsewhere. read more

I see the word "decent" a lot in the reviews, and that seems fair to me. Everything was pretty decent. The bánh mì was pretty standard, but nice. The gỏi cuốn was similarly, pretty typical fare, but nicely done and generously portioned. I'm not sure I'd make a special trip to come back, but if I were in the neighborhood and craving Vietnamese comfort food, sure, I'd come back. read more

As a student great place to "splurge" and change it up a bit and take a break from the food at the dining halls. Total Mom & Pop place which you can totally taste in their food with homestyle cooking and flavor. A man always made sure we had water or tended to us if we needed something. A hidden gem near the UCR campus! Given it's location, I was expecting this place to be a total sellout to the college crowd. But it was actually really good, better than a lot of the pho in the SGV! Prices are fair, especially in this economy. Portions are good. Staff are nice. Parking lot shared with the plaza just outside. Their che was great too - not too sweet. If I lived closer I'd be here more frequently. But if I find myself back in Riverside, I'll definitely stop by. read more

Well it was a horrible experience at this fucked up Pho place. First I saw the most unattractive Vietnamese (employee) woman scratch her heel at the table and then just casually wore her shoe and went back to the kitchen. Second the same woman scratched her head while walking in the dinning area and handling food with ease. DISGUSTING. Thirdly, we noticed a nose hair in the soup spoon and most likely the soup had the hair in it. Horrible service. You get better service in a nail salon than here. read more

Vietnamese coffee came in a 8 ounce cup but mainly all ice to the realm. I got two sips. Could hardly understand that guy. Ambiance was nice. The food kinda made me sick. My husband ended throwing the sandwich away.

They were a bit stingy on the lemon wedges and veggies. There were three of us and we ordered three bowls of Pho. We got one small plate of veggies and two lemon wedges. When we asked for more lemons, waiter looked over at our table to make sure we actually needed more lemons. When we asked for a sauce plate/cup, he looked bothered. Well next time just put little sauce plates on the table and we wouldn't have to ask you to get it. Like how do they not know people like to dip their meats in Siracha and Hoison sauce. Not everyone just pours it into the bowl. When we ordered our Pho, we also ordered a Banh Mi sandwich as a to go order. At the end of our meal, my wife went to pay and the check included the price with the sandwhich. She paid and asked how long the sandwich would take, they said, "what sandwich!" Uh, the one we just paid for. Cashier looked confused and asked to see the receipt. Then he went to the back and asked about the sandwich. We could hear someone in the back saying they didn't make a sandwich. Cashier apologized and we waited another 12 minutes for the sandwich. Pho was actually good but a bit on the pricey side. $20 for the Dac Biet. Next time we'll just go to Pho Ha down the street for better noodles at a cheaper price and they won't charge you for a sandwich that doesn't exist.

The flavor of the soup was nice and the amount of noodles was satisfactory as well. The banh mi was not so good. I liked the crinkle cut radish and carrots but that's about all. The sliced beef meatballs and the fried tofu again didn't really evoke the taste and texture of meat in a banh mi, and the protein was basically just a few thin non-overlapping slices per section of the sandwich. The worst offender-- the sandwich was dry. Vegan should mean vegan mayo, not no mayo at all. It was sooooo dry. I had to take it home and add my own mayo. I don't hate this restaurant, and I really appreciate the willingness to incorporate a vegan friendly menu. However, the pho and banh mi missed the mark for me. I think I'd just order different items next time, like some of the saucy stir fry plates instead.

When I was about to leave, I told them there was no more toilet paper in the restroom and they went out of their way to stop what they were doing to get more for me. Apparently, the cabinet inside the restroom was empty, so one of the employees had to call another employee for help and they found more in another cabinet outside the restroom. It was flavorful but noodles were kind of dry. The spring rolls came in 2. They add avocado, tofu, and jicima in addition to other ingredients. This isn't your traditional spring roll. I can also confirm that dipping sauce is straight peanut butter with not even enough water mixed in to make the texture smooth. Its like getting a cup of peanut butter that is watery on the top and dry and chunky from the middle down. A sauce like this will not be acceptable in the vietnamese community down in Bolsa. Haha! The coffee was also only okay, didn't finish it. I dont think I would drive out of my way to eat here.

I'm going to have to agree that this place was not the cleanest looking place in town, but what made me come back was their friendly customer service, great pho, and reasonable prices. My wife and I had tried several different pho places in town and none compare to this place. They just can't beat the beefy flavor of the broth. I did taste a hint of sweetness in the broth and it might be sugar like someone mentioned (i don't mind the sweet flavor but some may not agree with it), but if you add a bit of lime and hot sauce, it creates a wonderful balance. I would like to note that this summer they repainted the place, removed their old stained tablecloths, and added about three more booths to the place. It made a world of a difference. I would recommend this family run business to everyone, and if pho isn't your thing, their green curry is a favorite. also, their spring rolls are delish! read more

First of all, I don't think I've ever met such unfriendly people in my life. You walk in and the workers either look at you and expect you to walk to an empty table or they silently point to one for you. When they bring you water, they don't say anything and just rudely set it on the table. When it's time to order, they will just stand at your table waiting for you to order all whilst looking elsewhere. And mind you, this has happened EVERY time I've come here. As for the food, it's decent but there's honestly much better. The only reason i come here is because it's so close to school. Overall 0/5 for customer service and 2/5 for the food. If you have time and gas to drive elsewhere, definitely do not come here. Also, the last time I came, my friend got really bad food poisoning from their chicken. Beware. read more

I was like a lot of people that have eaten here and considered the food pretty good. My stomach can take a lot of abuse, but I think whoever handled making the pho that I ate 1/26/14 must not have been washing hands after number 2 or something else as gross. I got gastroenteritis after eating pho. Over the next 2 days had the runs 12 times, doctor says let it run its course to get the toxins out. Well it is 1/31/14 now and you guessed it still have the runs. I just happy my family did not eat the pho, the frying must have killed the "bugs" on their food thank goodness! Pho Vinam is hands down one of the better pho spots in the Inland Empire. It's a small and quiet place, but don't let that fool you--the flavors pack a serious punch. My go-to is the Pho Dac Biet, and it never disappoints. Honestly, I haven't had anything here that I didn't like. It gives me the same kind of comfort and quality I'm used to from pho places in Orange County (where I'm originally from), which says a lot. I walked into Celebrated Pho Vinam with my family to celebrate my birthday and experienced terrible customer service. The waiter approached with a scowl, demanded our order, and rudely shook his head when asked about child portions. Not the best place for pho. The service is utterly ridiculous. It seems as though they can't keep track of what each tables order what first. The food is pretty mediocre. Only real viets would know what real pho tastes like. I'll give it some credit for cheap prices for what it's worth. Vietnamese coffee came in a 8 ounce cup but mainly all ice to the realm. I got two sips. Could hardly understand that guy. Ambiance was nice. The food kinda made me sick. My husband ended throwing the sandwich away.

I walked in to place a takeout order and the young guy working was sitting down in a chair and didn't even bother to acknowledge me. No "hi," no "how can I help you," nothing. I literally had to walk up to him and tell him I wanted to order. The entire time I was ordering he just stared at me with zero facial expression or basic customer service skills. No thank you, no appreciation, absolutely nothing. He handed me my food the same way ...silent and rude ... and mind you, I still left a tip. To make it worse, they didn't include any condiments. When I asked for a small container for chili oil to take home, he rolled his eyes before going to the back to grab one. Then when I politely asked for a few more containers for the other sauces, he immediately said, "No, we don't have any." At this point it feels like customers are an inconvenience to them. I understand people have bad days, but this level of attitude and lack of basic respect is unacceptable, especially for longtime paying customers. Sadly, after years of supporting this place, I don't think I'll be returning.

The restaurant is located in a strip mall and if you blink you might miss it. The ambiance is quaint and cozy I believe it may only seat about 25 people. We were greeted and seated. The server was super knowledgeable because neither of us knew the name of our dishes but she knew exactly what we wanted. Food was delicious with a healthy portion. My curry chicken was a level two spicy which next time I'll take down to a 1. ( I'm not a spicy person). We also had the chai tea which was deliciously sweet.
