Alabacore, Salmon, Tuna, and Yellowtail Carpaccio

Back After 10 Years -- Did It Still Hold Up? I used to eat at Sushi Asahi - Riverside every Friday for lunch, so after nearly 10 years, I was genuinely excited to return while I was back in the area. We arrived just after the lunch rush and initially found plenty of open tables, which made for a relaxed start to our AYCE sushi experience. The ambiance was good: Lots of seating outside as well. Ordering on your phone was also easier to keep track of what we ordered and still had coming. We kicked things off strong with the Baked Mussels, Diablo and Volcano roll and the limited-to-one-order-per-person carpaccios. As the restaurant filled up, the energy picked up and so did the wait times between rounds. Pretty typical for a busy all-you-can-eat spot, but worth noting if you come during peak hours. Once we moved into the nigiri portion, we both felt the fish quality dipped slightly compared to the opening rounds. Nothing bad at all -- just not quite on the higher end of sushi we've had recently. Of course, that didn't stop us from ordering six more rolls... which officially did us in. We managed to narrow it down to five pieces of Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna and Salmon before finally tapping out. Elite Tip: If your party has fewer than six leftover pieces total, they'll let you take them home without an extra charge -- a clutch move when AYCE ambition exceeds stomach capacity. Overall, it felt like revisiting an old favorite -- nostalgic, satisfying, and still a solid option when the sushi craving hits. Glad we made the return visit after all these years.

It was our first time here at Sushi Asahi and it will definitely be one of our top places to visit! We came here for my hubby's birthday and our waitress AEY was super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave good recommendations. She was absolutely fun and provided good service. Her bubbly personality made our dining experience quite memorable and pleasureable. I love how they turn the lights off and play fun music while bringing out a slice of cheesecake for my hubby. Top notch service for sure! We came here for their $29.99 weekday AYCE lunch special and it was so worth it. Sushi comes in 2 pieces and Rolls comes in 4. My favorites included the spicy tuna with crispy rice, yellow tail carpaccio, rainbow roll, and their large fried shrimp. I also ordered the honeymoon roll which actually had no rice which was good as I am watching my carb count. Basically, each round of orders are made fresh and you can order another round after 10 minutes. What I like about this place is there is no limit to rounds so that was nice. Their gyoza was lightly fried and delicious. We got the calamari but it wasn't as good as the other dishes. My hubby likes the karaage and katsu but I feel like the sauce was too much. Next time I will ask for sauce on the side. I was quite thorougly surpised at how light and tasty the mango avocado salad was. Overall, great memorable experience thanks to AEY. I hope she will be our waitress next time we visit! This restaurant is located in the Albertson plaza and next to Daily Brew Coffee house! Plenty of parking in the front and it also has a Yelp waitlist so thats convenient!

This hands down is one of my favorites!!!! Been going here for yearssssss. Ngl, it had been a cool minute since I was last here. Decided to do an ayce date with a good friend of mine. Oh boy did we eat. Also realized that a few things had changed. Change is good. In this case, the new ordering system is amazing. So fast & convenient. And we can even pay that way. The sushi here is always on point! They had a few new items, that's probably why we ate so much, we wanted to try all the new items!!! Always busy, always packed but the staff still remain kind & helpful. And for the pricing, still one of the best with the best food & service.

First time eating here, went for the AYCE on the weekend for lunch time. During the week, it's $30 a person and $35 for dinner, but $35 all day on the weekends. The restaurant is pretty open-spaced with lots of tables which are pretty close together. TVs for viewing and they have physical menus with a QR code you can scan and order on your phone and they will bring it you, which is pretty cool. They have lots of fresh roll options which unique combinations and classic rolls you would expect. They also have Nigiri, but my only complaint would be that the Nigiri's are packed with rice and that means the fish to rice ratio is off (it's mostly rice). Besides that, the fish is flavorful and tastes very fresh and for $35, is an amazing price! They also have plenty of appetizers like Calamari and shrimp which were pretty good. The service was fast and easy, but they do limit the carpaccio to one order per person. I saw reviews complaining about the service but we came when it was packed and did not have any problems. Lastly, the restaurant is located in a big plaza with plenty of parking and next door to Albertsons so parking was quick and easy and it was nice to stop by the market after. Overall, a great and quite reasonably priced AYCE spot, will be back!

If you're looking for great sushi in Riverside, Asahi Sushi is a solid choice. The flavor is consistently on point--fresh fish, well-balanced rolls, and everything tastes like it's made with care. What really stands out is the all-you-can-eat option. The price is very reasonable for the quality you get, and the portions don't feel "cheap" like some AYCE spots. You can actually enjoy a variety without sacrificing taste. Service is friendly and efficient, and the overall vibe is relaxed--perfect for a casual night out or grabbing sushi with friends. Definitely a go-to spot if you want good sushi without overpaying.

Yellow tail collar. Flavor was good but I'm use to the skin being crispy and it was not. Gyozas were basic and calamari was decent.

This place has decent sushi. We came here for all you can eat. Service was nice. I like how they give you smaller portions so you can try more items. They have decent appetizers. Some of the sushi was oddly salty. I think it was the imitation crab mixture inside that was salty. It's not a huge place so expect to wait a little. It's a decent spot if you're craving sushi and are in the area.

After a hike, we decided to have lunch as a group of three. We arrived at 11:20ish, right before it opened. It was perfect timing because they put out a waitlist screen 5 minutes later and were seated within 10 minutes after that. We were quickly seated, and our server was very nice. They helped explain how the menu works since we mentioned it was our first time. We decided it would be best to do the AYCE menu for $35/pp and they also let us know it included gratuity. We quickly got started and ordered with the QR code they gave us. There were so many options, but I definitely recommend mainly going with the sashimi for the best bang for your buck. The fish itself tasted very fresh and great quality. It was so great to be able to taste the different flavors of each fish. The rolls were also very creative and just the perfect ratio of flavor and textures. The sushi all came out at a good pace, so it was nice that we didn't have to wait too long, but we did time our orders to help ensure that. Based on the price, quality of food, and quality of service, I would strongly recommend this spot! We definitely want to come back again!

First time here. Average priced at $35 per person. They have plenty to choose from. What sets them apart from other sushi spots?? They offer smaller portions (4 pieces per roll, 1 piece per nigiri and 2-4 pcs for appetizers) so you can try more options. The seared salmon lemon pepper nigiri also makes this place unique. It's a must try. The place has plenty of seating but is compacted. My only complaint is the service. I feel they were not very attentive and they don't communicate well because one guy took my bill and another lady questioned if I paid or not when I was leaving. Overall, I'd still come back. The food was really good.

California Hand Roll

This sushi spot seriously hit the spot. I ordered through DoorDash for pickup, and the whole process was smooth and easy. My food was ready right on time, neatly packed, and everything looked just as good as it would if you were dining in. I kept it classic with the California rolls, and they were exactly what you want -- fresh, clean, and perfectly balanced. The crab mix was creamy without being heavy, the avocado was buttery and bright green, and the cucumber had that crisp snap that lets you know everything was prepped that day. The rice was lightly seasoned, slightly warm, and held together without being dense. Even as a pickup order, nothing felt soggy or rushed -- every bite tasted fresh. They're open late, which is perfect when a sushi craving hits at night, and they offer AYCE (all-you-can-eat) if you decide to dine in. On top of that, they run buy one get one 50% off deals, which makes it easy to try more without spending a ton. Fresh rolls, great deals, late hours, and a smooth DoorDash pickup experience -- definitely a spot I'll be ordering from again.

The food at Sushi Asahi in Riverside is amazing! Katelin and Aey were amazing and serving! They suggest great yummy rolls! When we come with family we love the heart attack and spicy tuna crispy rice! Definitely a welcoming place if it's your first time!

The rolls are a bit on the smaller side; usually one roll fills me up, but here I had to order two. I also really enjoyed the miso soup. The edamame was good, though a little too salty for my liking. Customer Service 5/5 Customer service was excellent! Our waitress was super friendly and welcoming, and I loved that she gave great recommendations. She really knew the menu, which is always a plus and so helpful when ordering, especially at a new spot. Loved, loved, loved it! Ambience 5/5 I was shopping at the thrift store next door and never expected the inside of this place to be so nice. It's a hidden little gem, the interior is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully put together! Cleanliness 5/5 Super clean during my visit ! Wait Time 5/5 We were seated immediately, and since it wasn't busy at first, our food arrived quickly. Once it got a bit busier, the wait was longer, but still completely reasonable. Cost 4/5 It was a bit on the pricey side for the portion size, but considering the quality and flavor, it was understandable. Just keep in mind that rolls are around $20 each. Appetizers, like the spicy edamame, are $10, the miso soup was $4, and extras are listed on the back of the menu for an additional charge.

All were good but the muscles and the cucumber salad were my favs. Omg! The muscles! I loved the flavor. I loved how they delicately cut the muscles so that you get a piece of muscle in every bite. I know cucumber salad sounds simple...but they cut the cucumbers nice and thin with a mandolin and the vinaigrette was just light and fresh! It was so good! Only downside is the price. It's pretty pricey...$8 for the cucumber salad and $29 for the bento box and this was lunch. But all the food was good at least! It would be different if it did not taste good. Will be back again!
