Great food and awesome service, everything was on point and the food kept coming out, we had a great time with my friends

After reading some of the reviews my girlfriend and I were slightly hesitant to go for the first time but decided to give it a try and a few things to note. We went on a Saturday at 6pm without joining the waitlist as yelp said we didn't need to. Our experience vs recent yelp reviews was overall pretty damn positive. The only thing that is true that every other review mentions is yes they add auto gratuity so when you get your check the option is there to still add a tip which if you don't pay attention can lead to you giving a 25%+ tip without realizing it. The service we had was fast, I still don't know who our server was because about 6 different people kept asking us if we needed anything. Our tablet worked fine and we were able to order everything from it without having it malfunctioning or not working as some others have stated. One odd thing to mention is the soda cup is about 2x as big as the water cup. The sushi itself tasted good, however my girlfriend and I try to get our moneys worth so we normally only pick nigiri and the standard apps, and avoid any kind of rolls. Our take is on the carpaccio, seared salmon, tuna, and escolar, and fresh water eel. All the nigiri we had weren't "fishy" or tasted not fresh or whatever some of the other reviews mentioned but again we didn't have any of the items other people have complained about. So if you're looking for an AYCE sushi place and are tryna get your moneys worth I'd say it's a good place to go. read more

Did anything happen at this place in the last few months? The nigiris looked like they were made with some leftover scrap fish. I remember the fish to be decent here for an ayce. Out of the four adults at the table, three had diarrhea immediately afterwards and one of the three threw up too. It doesn't look like we will be here again until I read reviews that something has changed. read more

Sushi Okoku has been our go-to spot since they opened - good food, good service, and conveniently near the house. To us it was good enough that we started a list of our favorite rolls. Well, that all came to an end today when we decided to visit our old friend and she acted like she didn't even know us. We purchased 3 of our favorite rolls off our list but none of them tasted the same, they were bland at best and the best was no better than 'just okay'. Even one of our favorites, the Tokyo roll, was a big disappointment. I'd like to say that I was surprised, but I really wasn't. I started to see the writing on the wall last year but like a relationship that is past its prime, you get comfy and hope against hope that things will change but you know you're just fooling yourself. This evening, I chose to take a moment and look around remembering better times and memories made, I felt like Norm from Cheers on their final day. So, as I took my final lap I dabbed the "allergies" from my eyes, left my doggy bag on the table, turned and walked away. We're going to miss you, Big Oak. It was good while it lasted. read more

First time at Sushi Ok and really enjoyed it! Party of two at 7pm ish on a Sunday and we're seated within 5 minutes of walking in. Thr restaurant is clean and the staff was very friendly. The sushi itself was AYCE which I did not know ahead of time (I had a 14 year old with me that only ate one roll so not entirely worth the AYCE price). I prefer fresh sushi rolls and was so happy with all my rolls that I ordered. The ambience inside is what you'd expect from a sushi spot? They do an amazing birthday acknowledgement where the lights are turned off, party lights begin, and they bring out cheesecake with a sparkler on it. They do add auto gratuity on you bill regardless of party size so keep that in mind! read more

We came to celebrate a family member. We signed in and it took a while. They called us to the front to get seated. Then we had to wait another 15 minutes. We finally got seated to be told it was last call. We had to hurry to place our order. And that was not the issue. The food was average the sushi has a thick layer of rice. The server gave us the wrong food. He didn't know which rolls were coming out. But they seemed rushed and wanted us out as soon as possible. Will I come back. First time trying this location for lunch. I picked it based on ratings. To my surprise, their lunch specials are half off. Their lunch specials actually roll into their dinner schedule. Something that I haven't seen before at another location. I ordered their honeymoon roll with the mayo sauce on the side. It was fresh with a nice presentation. Also ordered the Crunchyroll. Delicious as always. They also threw in a miso soup. The hostess was friendly took my order and I waited about 10 to 15 minutes for my order. The location looked clean and inviting. read more

Rare visit to Riverside but this place was recommended to us. Such a nice venue. Roomy with a modern decor. Of course we opted for the AYCE option. All the sushi was fresh and very good. The rice to fish ratio was on point. The nigiri was also proportioned perfectly. Not too much rice, just enough to fill you up. The service was excellent. The staff was always checking in on us. My go-to ayce sushi spot in Riverside! The food is excellent, especially the carpaccios and nigiri. The strawberry lemonade roll is so unique and delicious! They also put on a great mini-show for birthdays with disco lights and a huge candle. You can easily get your moneys worth here. Sushi Okoku was an amazing sushi buffet experience (see below for individual reviews). You get the full rolls and cannot ask for half but the choices are great for different preferences (raw, cooked, no rice, tempura, etc.). During the meal rush, it can be a bit loud but overall ambience is great for a family/catch-up meal with friends. Servers were kind and on point with picking up empty plates. There were a couple of orders we didn't receive that we waited for and did not know were out of stock until we followed up with our waitress. Would definitely recommend following up if an order doesn't come timely or I would encourage Sushi Okoku to add this to their menu. 6/5 - Salmon/Seared Salmon Nigiri. This was the star of the show. The best thing about this AYCE sushi spot is the fish/rice ratio. The chefs do not add too much rice to each sashimi and you can feel comfortable ordering many servings. The fish is also fresh and you won't be disappointed. 5/5 - Scottish roll. One of their new rolls and brings a great combo of flavors from the salmon and crabmeat to the texture of crunch and softness from the avocado. Definitely give this one a try! 5/5 - Albatros Roll. I was a fan of all of their "No Rice" rolls as it doesn't make each roll feel too heavy. The albacore pairs very well with the fried onion. The usual crab meat, shrimp tempura, and cucumber makes this a very solid choice with unique flavor. 4/5 - Ultimate Salmon Roll. Not as much salmon to live up to the name and felt like there was a bit more pepper than desired but still makes for a great roll that you can order. If you like seared salmon in a non-nigiri form, you can get it here! 4.5/5 - Honeymoon Roll. Your regular salmon topped California roll without the rice. Always a classic to get if you love salmon with the nostalgic California roll flavor. While there's nothing too special about it, it won't disappoint! 4/5 - Angie's Roll. I felt that the salmon was a bit over-baked but it still came as a generous portion with a great combo of flavor. You get your baked salmon and scallop flavor combo which if you haven't tried you absolutely should! Not pictured but can't recommend enough: Orange Blossom and Salmon Lover. Been to many AYCE sushi places and this one is above average. Pros: service is quick and there's plenty of variety to choose from. You have the freedom to order anything you want as you have an iPad where you order them directly to your table and photos are provided for everything. Plenty of seating. Cons: waiters are prone to stop by less because ordering is done by tablet. Some of the Mexican rolls were extremely lemony, making them inedible. They were somehow out of fried calamari and fried shrimp. The teriyaki beef appetizer was inedible. Because of the variety and great pricing, I give this place four stars. read more

Came back here after awhile for a family Sunday dinner. The waiting room was converted to a private room, which I think is a good idea. FIFA was playing and it was a 2-3. Service was fast and good as always. We miss the servers we had in the past. The new one forgot to give us the little plates. The food was great, I love the mussels, salmon, chicken wings as I am a non -sushi eater so it's wonderful they have a vast array of food on the menu. The serving is not like before, it's less but I understand the economy is affecting only the quantity and not the quality. Overall always good place to eat AYCE Sushi. We had a sushi counter and one guest ate 50 plus pieces! Weekend piece is dinner price for both lunch and dinner. I almost made another tip as there's a blank line on the receipt only to find out that gratuity is already in the check, so keep an eye on that. I've been to this location long ago when it was named something else. Sushi Okoku is next to America's Tire Company and offers $32.99 AYCE lunch. If you appreciate Mexican Sushi, this place is for you. Half their menu features jalapeño, habanero, pico de gallo, and/or agua chile. Berlin seated us and the order was placed on a tablet. The service was excellent and there's plenty of spacious seating. The food was delivered promptly and incorporating technology to streamline efficiency was evident. We had the Super Mexican, Jessica Albacore, and Yellowtail Habanero rolls. I also ordered a few pieces of Sashimi including Agua Chile Tilapia, Mexican Fusion Tuna, and Mexican Fusion Yellowtail. My husband is not a big fan of raw fish but he admits he loves the AYCE lunch served here. There is So much variety of appetizers and we like the Mexican fusion spins on sushi and sashimi. We think about this place often and wish we didn't live 3 hours away. By far the best sushi and ACYE in the area! Have the all you can eat and it didn't disappoint. most of the roles were half size of a regular size roll. Which made it better in my opinion, because you could try many different roles and not get stuffed on just a few. The service was great from start to finish. The servers were very attentive they cleared the tables very quickly and the food also came out quickly as well. Great variety of roles and each one tasted different so it didn't taste like you were having the same role with just a different type of sauce or topping. I've been to this place before and tbh I was a smidge overwhelmed and not quite sure how everything worked. This time, my mom was visiting and of course this spot was on our food tour. She CANNOT have gluten. Think anaphylactic shock. The servers were beyond accommodating and triple checked every ingredient on items we were unsure of. Y'all, they have gluten free soy sauce!!!! I'd also like to mention that many items on the menu are already gluten free but the tempura batter is not 100% rice flour, so any of the fried crunchy things will be off the list. Some of the sauces also have gluten like eel and spicy mayo, so the servers offered to bring all sauces on the side, IT WAS PERFECT!!! The vibe is pretty straight forward and modern! I really wanted to enjoy Sushi Okoku, but the experience was a series of "missed marks" from start to finish. While the staff is friendly upon entry, the actual service is some of the most uncoordinated I have experienced in Riverside. The Service: After being seated and receiving drinks, we were ignored for 20 minutes before we could even place an order. Despite having plenty of staff--some of whom were literally practicing dance moves off to the side--no one checked in on us once the food arrived. To make matters worse, our appetizers arrived last, and we sat for 15 minutes after finishing our meal just waiting for the check. There is a clear lack of floor management here. The Food: * Shrimp Tempura: This was a major disappointment. It arrived lukewarm and the batter was doughy and undercooked. Tempura should be light and crispy; this was heavy and soft. * Popcorn Crawfish Roll: The crawfish topping was very oily and lacked seasoning, making the entire roll feel bland and heavy. * Manager's Special: A decent flavor profile, but the ratio was off--there was far too much rice, which overpowered the fish. * Fire Roll: This was the highlight of the night. It had the perfect amount of spice and great flavor. It's the only item I would consider ordering again. Verdict: If you're looking for a quick or attentive meal, this isn't it. The kitchen needs better quality control on temperatures, and the staff needs to focus more on the guests than their choreography. Very generous portions, fresh fish, and variety of options ranging from classic sashimi to inventive Latin-inspired rolls. Their Scottish, Golden Tiger , and Mexi Cali roll are good. Service was OK. Took awhile for our waitress to take our order and long time for our sushi rolls to come. Longer wait time for refills on water and hot tea. Somewhat pricey but you do get a good portion. One of my go to's! A genuine loyal customer to them, with their top notch prices, and quality! I would highly recommend their seared salmon and spicy tuna crispy rice! Dining in, you are ordering off an iPad with pictures and descriptions so you know exactly what you're getting. We always opt in for take out instead, since we enjoy ordering a little bit of everything and sharing without stuffing ourselves to the max! They have 50% off rolls for to go orders, that we use to try everything we can. Our personal favorites are the golden tiger roll with cream cheese, shrimp tempura, crab! I've been here so many times after my review because I genuinely loved this place, but lately, I'm not sure what happened to the quality of food, but it started becoming inconsistent with quality. The rice to fish ratio has changed too, the last 3 times I came was disappointing where there was so much rice in the nigiri's and the rolls and they closed at 10pm no exceptions making us pay for the sushi we didn't have time to eat. (We came in at around 9:25 last call was 9:45 ish. Which was understandable, so we ordered a lot to compensate for the time since we were a group, but then once the food came out, staff said they had to be all out the store by 10pm. The waiter told us we had to stop eating by like 9:55 and since we had such little time to eat since we also have to wait for the food to come out they said we had too much "left overs" we didn't eat since we were still working on it and made up pay for the extras. I was so frustrated they didn't tell us before we ordered or sat down they closed at 10 and the customers had to be out by 9:50s. Basically what happened pushed me to stop coming here including the amount of rice and inconsistent quality. Idk if owners changed or something. But sadly won't be coming back :(. read more

Restaurant is located in the corner of the plaza (literally hidden in a corner) and parking is a bit awkward for some reason. The Parking lot is too dark for comfort at night if not parked in front of it in my opinion but thankfully I was with a bigger group. Food here was good and decent. We came with friends and did the AYCE here. The menu seemed to have a good mixed of items. They provide a tablet for you to place your order in. It was a lot at first since you had to figure out which category the sushi you wanted was under and go find it to select it. I kind of miss the marking of paper and handing it to the server to submit our food order because I'm old school like that. Oh wells, gotta adapt to whatever the restaurant wants to do in the end. No biggie. Anyways, the sushi was good. Some were better than others. The no rice rolls were a nice option but felt like nothing unique. Maybe if they proportion it right, it may be better. It was just fill with the crab meat and too much at times to just eat that a lone. Like more crab meat then other ingredients. I should've taken a pic of that but it wasn't even picture worthy and wasn't the best the group got... I however did love and enjoyed their spicy tuna crispy rice a lot. One of my favorite item there. The carpaccio was good but over done with avocado. Sometimes less is more but once you push some of the avocado off of it, it was pretty good. There shouldn't be avocado on it to be honest. It was weird seeing it on there but I guess they're a fusion type of sushi restaurant so I guess that makes sense for the vibe they're going for. Overall, restaurant is lively when there's a birthday. They turn off the lights and blast some music and sing to the person with one of those big candles. It felt fun. Good sizes for big groups and a lot of seatings. Definitely go and order. Make sure to try it for yourself. Also, we did try it a second time using uber eats for the spicy tuna crispy rice and it was still good but topped with too much cilantro this time. So it wasn't appetizing to look at when it arrived. Went on a Tuesday night around 7 and it was actually still pretty busy! Servers are pretty attentive throughout. You order off of an order sheet. I got the vegetable tempura appetizer which comes with onion, sweet potato and something like a green bean! The tempura was perfectly light and crisp, the vegetables were fresh and the savory dipping sauce paired well! The plain udon is very plain haha. Only broth and noodles. Came when it wasnt that busy and I intentionally did not eat that day. Got seated almost immediately as I got through the door. Ordering is similar to Sushi Asahi in which that it's digital, but they give you a tablet to order from instead of your phone. Your orders go in a lot faster and you dont have to wait on staff to get the sheet. Amazing already. Even though it's a bit pricier than Sushi Asahi, they do have more options and they give you full rolls instead. I wish I had the option to do half-rolls because I wanted to try a lot of things. Sushi tastes great and their special rolls were interesting enough for me to try out. I tried every type of Sushi because I like trying new things. For their rolls I ended up getting their Asahi, Sour Candy, Okoku, and Las Vegas Roll. All of them were great and Sour Candy was my favorite with the lemon on top. It was pretty relaxed in there and the service was fast and efficient. This is definitely my go-to spot in Riverside for AYCE sushi. read more
