First time trying this location for lunch. I picked it based on ratings. To my surprise, their lunch specials are half off. Their lunch specials actually roll into their dinner schedule. Came when it wasnt that busy and I intentionally did not eat that day. Got seated almost immediately as I got through the door. Ordering is similar to Sushi Asahi in which that it's digital, but they give you a tablet to order from instead of your phone. Your orders go in a lot faster and you dont have to wait on staff to get the sheet. Amazing already. Even though it's a bit pricier than Sushi Asahi, they do have more options and they give you full rolls instead. I wish I had the option to do half-rolls because I wanted to try a lot of things. Sushi tastes great and their special rolls were interesting enough for me to try out. I tried every type of Sushi because I like trying new things. For their rolls I ended up getting their Asahi, Sour Candy, Okoku, and Las Vegas Roll. All of them were great and Sour Candy was my favorite with the lemon on top. Rare visit to Riverside but this place was recommended to us. Such a nice venue. Roomy with a modern decor. Of course we opted for the AYCE option. All the sushi was fresh and very good. For my first time, it was a great experience. We had lots of fun watching celebrating people's birthdays through dinner. They turn of the lights and put on disco light and music. We've been coming here for a long time, and every single visit reminds us why we keep coming back. The food is always incredibly fresh, delicious, and consistently amazing. Honestly, we wouldn't go anywhere else for sushi! What made this visit even more special was the outstanding service from Noah and Javi. They both went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of throughout our meal. Sushi Okoku was an amazing sushi buffet experience (see below for individual reviews). You get the full rolls and cannot ask for half but the choices are great for different preferences (raw, cooked, no rice, tempura, etc.). During the meal rush, it can be a bit loud but overall ambience is great for a family/catch-up meal with friends. Servers were kind and on point with picking up empty plates. There were a couple of orders we didn't receive that we waited for and did not know were out of stock until we followed up with our waitress. Would definitely recommend following up if an order doesn't come timely or I would encourage Sushi Okoku to add this to their menu. 6/5 - Salmon/Seared Salmon Nigiri. This was the star of the show. The best thing about this AYCE sushi spot is the fish/rice ratio. The chefs do not add too much rice to each sashimi and you can feel comfortable ordering many servings. The fish is also fresh and you won't be disappointed. 5/5 - Scottish roll. One of their new rolls and brings a great combo of flavors from the salmon and crabmeat to the texture of crunch and softness from the avocado. Definitely give this one a try! 5/5 - Albatros Roll. I was a fan of all of their "No Rice" rolls as it doesn't make each roll feel too heavy. The albacore pairs very well with the fried onion. The usual crab meat, shrimp tempura, and cucumber makes this a very solid choice with unique flavor. 4/5 - Ultimate Salmon Roll. Not as much salmon to live up to the name and felt like there was a bit more pepper than desired but still makes for a great roll that you can order. If you like seared salmon in a non-nigiri form, you can get it here! 4.5/5 - Honeymoon Roll. Your regular salmon topped California roll without the rice. Always a classic to get if you love salmon with the nostalgic California roll flavor. While there's nothing too special about it, it won't disappoint! 4/5 - Angie's Roll. You have the freedom to order anything you want as you have an iPad where you order them directly to your table and photos are provided for everything. Plenty of seating. Cons: waiters are prone to stop by less because ordering is done by tablet. Some of the Mexican rolls were extremely lemony, making them inedible. If you appreciate Mexican Sushi, this place is for you. Half their menu features jalapeño, habanero, pico de gallo, and/or agua chile. Berlin seated us and the order was placed on a tablet. Dining in, you are ordering off an iPad with pictures and descriptions so you know exactly what you're getting. She CANNOT have gluten. Think anaphylactic shock. The servers were beyond accommodating and triple checked every ingredient on items we were unsure of. Y'all, they have gluten free soy sauce!!!! I'd also like to mention that many items on the menu are already gluten free but the tempura batter is not 100% rice flour, so any of the fried crunchy things will be off the list. While the staff is friendly upon entry, the actual service is some of the most uncoordinated I have experienced in Riverside. The Service: After being seated and receiving drinks, we were ignored for 20 minutes before we could even place an order. Despite having plenty of staff--some of whom were literally practicing dance moves off to the side--no one checked in on us once the food arrived. To make matters worse, our appetizers arrived last, and we sat for 15 minutes after finishing our meal just waiting for the check. There is a clear lack of floor management here. The Food: * Shrimp Tempura: This was a major disappointment. It arrived lukewarm and the batter was doughy and undercooked. Tempura should be light and crispy; this was heavy and soft. * Popcorn Crawfish Roll: The crawfish topping was very oily and lacked seasoning, making the entire roll feel bland and heavy. * Manager's Special: A decent flavor profile, but the ratio was off--there was far too much rice, which overpowered the fish. * Fire Roll: This was the highlight of the night. It had the perfect amount of spice and great flavor. It's the only item I would consider ordering again. Verdict: If you're looking for a quick or attentive meal, this isn't it. By far the best sushi and ACYE in the area! Have the all you can eat and it didn't disappoint. most of the roles were half size of a regular size roll. Which made it better in my opinion, because you could try many different roles and not get stuffed on just a few. The service was great from start to finish. The rice to fish ratio has changed too, the last 3 times I came was disappointing where there was so much rice in the nigiri's and the rolls and they closed at 10pm no exceptions making us pay for the sushi we didn't have time to eat. (We came in at around 9:25 last call was 9:45 ish. Which was understandable, so we ordered a lot to compensate for the time since we were a group, but then once the food came out, staff said they had to be all out the store by 10pm. The waiter told us we had to stop eating by like 9:55 and since we had such little time to eat since we also have to wait for the food to come out they said we had too much "left overs" we didn't eat since we were still working on it and made up pay for the extras. I was so frustrated they didn't tell us before we ordered or sat down they closed at 10 and the customers had to be out by 9:50s. Basically what happened pushed me to stop coming here including the amount of rice and inconsistent quality. Idk if owners changed or something. But sadly won't be coming back :(. read more

It was a lot at first since you had to figure out which category the sushi you wanted was under and go find it to select it. I kind of miss the marking of paper and handing it to the server to submit our food order because I'm old school like that. Oh wells, gotta adapt to whatever the restaurant wants to do in the end. No biggie. Anyways, the sushi was good. Some were better than others. The no rice rolls were a nice option but felt like nothing unique. Maybe if they proportion it right, it may be better. It was just fill with the crab meat and too much at times to just eat that a lone. Like more crab meat then other ingredients. I should've taken a pic of that but it wasn't even picture worthy and wasn't the best the group got... I however did love and enjoyed their spicy tuna crispy rice a lot. One of my favorite item there. The carpaccio was good but over done with avocado. Sometimes less is more but once you push some of the avocado off of it, it was pretty good. There shouldn't be avocado on it to be honest. It was weird seeing it on there but I guess they're a fusion type of sushi restaurant so I guess that makes sense for the vibe they're going for. Overall, restaurant is lively when there's a birthday. They turn off the lights and blast some music and sing to the person with one of those big candles. It felt fun. Good sizes for big groups and a lot of seatings. Definitely go and order. Make sure to try it for yourself. Also, we did try it a second time using uber eats for the spicy tuna crispy rice and it was still good but topped with too much cilantro this time. So it wasn't appetizing to look at when it arrived. My wife and I did all you can eat at the dinner price on a Saturday $37 we were only able to eat 2 rolls that took 45min each to get it. Went on a Tuesday night around 7 and it was actually still pretty busy! Servers are pretty attentive throughout. You order off of an order sheet. I got the vegetable tempura appetizer which comes with onion, sweet potato and something like a green bean! The tempura was perfectly light and crisp, the vegetables were fresh and the savory dipping sauce paired well! The plain udon is very plain haha. Only broth and noodles.
