    Tonkontsu Broth ramen

The service was a bit confusing. But the server was very nice the menu was a bit over priced for the quantity of food. Also the toppings were extra per toppings so everything adds up. The broth wasn't as brothy as I thought it would be. I would say this place is over hyped. But for a 24 hr place it's pretty decent. The inside is colorful and well decorated. But I came for food not an art gallery. I would come here again if I'm in the area when it's late night again.

This may be the bottom three Ramen shops I've ever visited. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen (pronounced ton-koh-tsu). The noodles tasted like they were frozen, not fresh, and they were overcooked. There was not very much depth in the broth and it was very much watered down with very little tare to season the broth. The egg was actually great and the chashu was about average. I did not really expect much from a 24 hour spot however I was very hopeful.

I usually have a great experience here, and I'd honestly rate this place 10/10. The hosts are always friendly, and it's an easy place to bring my family. But my experience yesterday around 6:30 p.m. was completely different because of one employee. When I went to pay, I tried using cash. Instead of simply telling me they don't accept cash, she made this dramatic face, pointed at the "No Cash" sign, and said it in such a rude, condescending tone. I was like, "Okay," and paid with my card. From that point on, her attitude was just awful. Every time she spoke it was like she couldn't be bothered to do her job. She had a nasty attitude the entire interaction. Then when my name was called, I walked over to pick up my food like I always do. Every other time I've come here, I've grabbed my utensils, napkins, bags, or an extra plastic bowl myself without any issue. This time, as I reached for some napkins, she literally yelled, "No, no, no! I'll grab it for you! What are you touching? What do you need?" I told her I was just grabbing napkins, and then she said, "I don't know why the cooks plated it like this. I'll just bring it to you." I was honestly so confused. Why was she so rude? There isn't any sign saying customers can't grab utensils or napkins from the pickup area, and I've never been treated like that before. I live nearby and come here often, so this really stood out. The food was still great, but that employee's attitude completely ruined what is normally a great experience. I hope management addresses it because everyone else I've interacted with here has always been friendly and professional. Besides the sloppy host.

We've seen this place a couple of times because it's one of the few places that are open late. Unfortunately, we don't think we'll be coming back. The food was not worth the price as the ramen was average at best. The only thing that stood out to me was the taste of the pork chashu, but even that was dry. The service was mediocre as it's more of a take out place. Servers only take your order but everything is your job like getting water and cleaning up your own bowls. The worst part of this experience was definitely the bathroom. It had the worst smell like a mixture of bleach and urine. I wouldn't recommend this place and I'd suggest cup noodle if you're craving ramen at midnight.

We tried this ramen place for the first time after a friend recommended it. We ordered the special ramen with chicken broth, the Tori broth chicken ramen, chicken fried rice, and gyoza with a drowning sauce that had a strong vinegar or sour taste. We brought our kids with us, and they're pretty picky eaters. They didn't enjoy the food, but we actually did. It was nice to try something new and different. The service was quick, there was one employee who took our order when we arrived, and the food came out fast. Everything was served in ready-to-go containers, which was convenient in case you wanted to take leftovers home. The restaurant has limited seating, so it's more of a small, casual spot. Our total came out to about $130 for 4 bowls, 1 fried rice and 1 appetizer. Overall, it was a good experience for trying something new

Came here after a show and it really hit the spot. Food, service and location are great. I also love that the take out is self service. When you're finished you can easily grab everything yourself. They have dining inside and outside and the cutest patio area! It's also in such a beautiful part of downtown riverside, so there's lots of other shops and fun things to check out after you're finished!

We came at about 2:30am, this place was so busy, lots of drunk people. We ordered 2 tonkatsu with pork egg bean sprouts and corn & a can of soda. It came out to $45 It didn't take forever but people were complaining.

Nice place, beautiful restaurant. Ramen was good but lacked some flavor. Would like more seating . Service was good nothing special seemed a little self serve type of dining experience.

Decided to come here for lunch after the Farmers Market! It was a great choice! So much flavor! Although the chili sauce will take everything up a notch! The atmosphere is very creative! You order at the front when you walk in and then go find your seat! I believe this is one of the few 24 hour food locations!

Decent ramen in downtown Riverside. The price is more than what I was expecting. I did go here on a Monday for lunch, and it was very quiet.

The broth is so flavorful as well and has depth. I feel a lot of broths I've had lacked richness. I also feel like the toppings on the ramen are perfect; a ramen egg, kikurage mushroom, green onion, and the meat! The service has always been very friendly and I've never had a bad experience with any of the employees. The place itself is kept clean and I notice the workers cleaning off tables and other things as soon as they can. The restrooms are also very clean (big plus for me). They didn't make us feel rushed at all and were really welcoming throughout the whole ordering process. The fish tasted really fresh, which is one of the biggest things I look for in poke, and they had a good variety of sauces to choose from depending on what flavor you're in the mood for. The toppings bar was also really solid with a lot of options, and everything looked fresh and well stocked. I liked that you could customize your bowl however you wanted and still have everything pair well together. One thing I really liked is that they actually pack the containers full, so it genuinely feels worth the money. There have been times the staff seems high and blown out of their minds. Other times they are too busy chatting up with coworkers to acknowledge or provide even the basic decency of customer service. Then, more often than not you are treated almost as a bother. Due to the service here, I have stopped dining in and opt for calling a phone order to take out. On three separate occasions now, within the last 3 months, they have neglected the phones for orders. They would rather disconnect or turn off the phone completely to avoid any future orders. This comes as a surprise when in about 10 minutes of my first attempted call, I see a staff of four people, yet only one customer. I believe there was no excuse as to why they could not answer the phone. I confirmed they accept take out orders essentially until closing. I have always been mindful to not attempt to order within 30 minutes of them closing. The service here is appalling and truly diminishes their potential for how great the spot could be considering the food they have. Food on the other hand is a total opposite of the service, very flavorful and strong punch of spice at a level 3. My go to is the Wonton ramen with a miso base. Crispy rice is a great starter to share. The garlic ramen is also a great contender if you have a garlic craving. Open layout feels like a mom and pop shop. Overall pretty clean establishment. Occasional tweaker going in for the bathroom closer to the end of the night.

Yoshioishi Sushi & Ramen had solid reviews, so we decided to pivot and give it a try. First impression: the menu is extensive. It's one of those places where you almost don't know where to start. The fan favorites are marked with a red flower, which helped narrow things down. We also asked our server for suggestions, which made it easier to navigate. We arrived just before 5pm and there was only one other table. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like. By the time we left, the restaurant was filling up and it seemed like there were quite a few regulars coming in. Here's what we tried: Salted edamame: Just average. A bit limp and not as crisp as I'm used to, so they didn't feel especially fresh. Gyoza: Really nice flavor and the dipping sauce was well balanced. These were solid. Yellowtail jalapeño sashimi: This was different in a good way. It had cilantro and a slightly sweeter sauce instead of the traditional garlic ponzu. Unexpected, but a pleasant surprise. Crispy chicken karaage: Slightly over fried but still flavorful. The dipping sauce helped. Crispy rice with spicy tuna: Just okay. One piece barely had tuna on top. Not bad, but not something I'd reorder. Cucumber salad: Served on a bed of iceberg lettuce, which surprised us, but the dressing had great flavor. This disappeared quickly. Nigiri: The salmon was incredibly fresh and one of the highlights. The albacore and toro came topped with fresh wasabi, which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed the salmon and albacore. The toro didn't quite melt in your mouth like we hoped. It was a bit chewy. Crazy Salmon Roll: Good flavor, but note that the salmon on the outside is fully cooked. We expected raw, so just something to keep in mind. Snow Mountain Roll: A fan favorite at the table. Great texture and flavor. Plain udon and plain ramen: Both were excellent. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. We definitely over ordered, but we left very full. One small detail for fellow tea lovers: I always look forward to hot tea at a Japanese restaurant, especially when it's served in a small pot you can refill at the table. Here it was hot water with a tea bag in a metal cup, which was too hot to comfortably hold, and there was no teapot provided. Not a deal breaker, but next time I'd probably skip the tea. Service was strong. In addition to our main server, two other team members checked in and refilled water regularly, which we appreciated. Overall, I'd call it a 3.5 if that were an option, so I'm landing at 3 stars. The food was decent, the atmosphere comfortable, and the service attentive. It didn't completely wow us, but we're glad we tried it.
