This restaurant as a very intimate vibe, which was nice gives you the opportunity to make conversation with other patrons which I met some cool people and had a nice convo. The staff was friendly. and helpful suggesting different items to try and letting us know we could customize our sushi based on our preference. My only gripe was the the sauce container to pour you sauce in was a little dirty and i had to clean it myself... kinda grossed me out tbh Now on to the food the sushi was pretty yummy. The texture of the salmon was melt in you mouth. I totally forgot the names of the items I got but the salmon rolled crab meat was my favorite along with the Salmon belly. the sushi roll i got was recommended by our waitress it was good although I wished that they had used a little less i'm assuming sesame oil in the sauce because the flavor of peanut was a bit overwhelming and overshadowed the flavor from the Salmon and Tuna :/ . Wow, amazingly delicious and fresh sushi! Had lunch here around noon and surprisingly not busy. We ate spicy edamame, an albacore fresh roll--forgot the name but it had crispy onions on it too, also had the protein roll and another fresh roll which had salmon, tuna and avocado on the top but requested it "cajun style" for an up charge. Everything was outstanding. Found it nice that they had pleasant music playing as well vs some loud trendy songs that other places tend to play. Service was quick and efficient as well. Normally I'm an AYCE girl since I would go bankrupt on ordering the salmon sushi pieces but came to lunch with my friend on her work lunch break so we had to stay close. For not being AYCE, I was satisfied. The fish was fresh and they were happy to customize my roll to match one of my favorite rolls from other locations. I placed a pick up order or two California rolls and a crunch roll. When I got home to eat it the rolls were stale and there was an odd taste that you can tell the rolls were not fresh. I kid you not you could buy rolls at a grocery store and they would have tasted better than what we got. I'm relatively new to the area and have only tried a handful of sushi places, but Amagi Sushi by far has been my favorite. Although not exactly a hole in the wall, its unassuming exterior in a strip mall does not match the top quality customer service and above average sushi. Our waitress was friendly and readily available, but also did not check in incessantly. Plates and trash were always cleared promptly, water cups were never empty, and our party of 5 was offered fresh wasabi, miso soup and dessert all on the house! We ordered 2 sushi boat platters which fed 3 guys and 2 girls--maybe not to the brim like at an AYCE sushi spot, but to a healthy and satisfied level of fullness. Overall I though the rolls were well made and the sashimi/nigiri were fresh and decently proportioned. Maybe it was the 5 soju bottles that kicked in by the time we were done with our meal, but even the the sushi chefs and other waitstaff were über friendly and thanked our entire party on the way out! Don't let it's size fool you. This cute spot is packed with flavor. The staff are always on point and flow seamlessly. The suuuuuuushi was so clean and fresh. Prices are what you expect nowadays but for something like sushi, this was definitely worth it. I loved the no rice rolls but omg the Jalapeño Bomb was so gooooooood!!!!! Ah! Soooo good. Got the spicy one and it wasn't spicy at all (disclaimer, I like HEAT). The hot Mexico City roll was decent but the Crunch Red Dragon (not pictured) was great!!! What a terrible experience. Ordered way ahead on the app and was given a pickup time. Came right on time to learn that I'd need to wait another 10 minutes. Ok no sweat this happens every single time. Every time we order ahead we wait extra. This doesn't seem uncommon either as I've seen other people pissed about this previously. Not a big deal right?, well the quality of what I received was really, really, noticeably bad. This place is usually pretty good but not today. I was literally given the bloodline in my salmon. And my tuna is for sure old. Smells bad and has that stringy consistency that old fish gets. Tempura was cold and soggy. Probably because of the 10 minute wait. I'm over this place. Too many other options nearby that have better quality and actually have food ready to go when you order ahead. Also the portions are shrinking. This is a small, but comfy environment. The place is clean and employees are nice. Service was good. The sushi chef said the specials change weekly, and the salmon is brought in fresh everyday. I had the miso soup, which was full of flavor. It was above average than most other miso soups. I had the Tuna Salsa Roll Special ($17) and it was very tasty. I like it spicy so it hit the palette perfectly. I also had a spicy tuna roll (7$). The hand roll was bigger than most other places I've experienced. I found the prices are fairly reasonable. My problem is I only got 7 pieces. 1 (ONE) small shrimp and 6 assorted veggies. Hardly a fair split. Probably will look for another source so my order is a bit more crispy.
