I checked the reviews beforehand and saw far more positive comments than negative ones, so I decided to give it a shot. When we arrived, it was packed and we were told there would be about a 20 minute wait after signing in, which we were fine with. Surprisingly, we were seated within about 5 minutes. We went there for my daughter's birthday. This place is one of her favorite spots. The service was okay and it took a while to get more sushi because there was no paper to fill out. The food might have been really good if they hadn't messed up my Door Dash order. I ordered the Hot Night Roll but wanted just the rayu sauce (chili oil) on the side. Unfortunately, the only option on Door Dash is "Sauce on the Side" with no way to designate _which_ sauce you want on the side. Oishii just decided not to put any of the sauces on the roll at all, and did not include sides of the rayu, spicy mayo or eel sauce that was supposed to be on the roll. The result was a pretty boring roll because the spicy tuna wasn't the least bit spicy at all either. I also ordered the veggie tempura, which was good, but they only gave me about 2 tablespoons of dipping sauce for the whole order. We picked up our order tonight , which was a teriyaki chicken bento box . There was no teriyaki on the chicken , no salad dressing on the salad and the quantity was half of what it used to be. Just decent sushi, decent service, etc. HOWEVER, I was in the area earlier today, and I love it! The interior looks different/neater from the last time I was here, and the server made sure to check in regularly even though you order on your phone/QR code. Don't miss out on the Cajun shrimp, the yellowtail (so buttery!), and the baked Nichele roll. The sushi was great as usual. Today the service was real bad. We had th AYCE happy hour special which was $28.99. They had plenty of tables and help. We finished eating and we also placed a Togo order. It has now been over 40 minutes since we finished and placed the togo order. We spoke to our server several times about getting the order and check. Wow really they brought the check but no togo order. This is rhe worst service ever. I will not come back here again. Went for AYCE lunch today. First time at this spot. Service and Food were excellent. My one gripe: a 15% "service fee" gets added to the bill. If that's meant to be gratuity, they should just call it that -- or better, roll it into the AYCE price. As it stands, it's unclear what the fee actually covers, and I'm not a fan of pre-set gratuity in general. The bigger issue is how it plays out at checkout. The tip suggestions on the final receipt are calculated on the total bill -- AYCE price, tax, and the 15% fee all included. So instead of tipping on the $29 AYCE price, you're shown tip options based on $36. You can always enter a custom amount, but then your server may assume you're being cheap, not realizing you'd already been charged 15%, since that is not visible on the signature page. I normally tip 25-30% at sushi restaurants, so between the built-in fee and the inflated tip baseline, this setup left me second-guessing what I actually wanted that 25%-30% should actually be. read more

We use to come here a lot when I lived nearby. It had been a few years since I had been here so decided to stop by for AYCE lunch. The staff were as friendly as I remember. The ambiance is a casual vibe. The stuff I got was pretty good. Im not a sashimi person so I can't speak to the super freshness of it all, but they have good spicy tuna, if that helps. Something new to me is a 15% service fee they added to the bill. I dont remember seing that advertised on the menu so it seemed shady to me. It could be in small print somewhere, but I didnt see it. I hope that service fee goes to the servers since we only left a couple extra bucks to get to 20% tip. If not, then that really sucks for them because I feel it will affect their tips. read more

If you're looking for variety in Riverside, this is the place. We tried everything from the basic salmon and tuna to some of the more elaborate baked rolls. Everything tasted fresh and the service was attentive they kept the water filled and the next rounds of orders coming out at a good pace. Use to love this place but it has gone downhill ever since they got new owners/management. Last couple of visits, there's once specific older Asian waitress who was rude. Never smiles and seems like she hates her job. The service sucked. Food took forever. They added clear boards in between tables that make the place look tacky. They took the TVs out. Ordering is now all through QR codes. They also took away the point system to redeem money off your order. The place located in quite 'dim' establishment. At the front, it has mentioned all you can eat. For dinner (weekday) we get charged $35, 15% gratuity will be included. Unlike other AYCE, this place is different as they serve full portion each order, while other place will only serve you half portion to give you more chance to experience other menu. The baked sushi has too much mayo till you cannot taste a proper sushi. Aside from the portion, they are generous when we order lobster sushi and scallops, it's all over the sushi abundantly. Server was attentive, we were offered pickled ginger when it was about to finish. Assuming this is a family business everyone work in harmony to make customers leave happy. The first time the service was great, the food was delicious and I had a good time. the 2nd time I visited, the food was decent and service was fine, but the bill was for some reason more expensive. The third time was not the worst. Server was rude, food was bland, and then I noticed they had included a service fee of 15% on my individual bill! I see that they state they add gratuity for a large group, but for an individual bill, they add a service charge too? It looks like they want customers to double tip them by adding that service charge and also a tip line along with the bill. Done with this place. Definitely not Oishii. read more

We LOVE coming to Oishii!! It is one of our first sushi places that we tried and we love to come back here. The vibes inside are always so great! They have some cool, colorful lighting, and they also have music playing -- which makes it a really great spot to hang out with friends, family, or a partner. The service is usually pretty decent as well. This place can get pretty packed on the weekends, but they do their best to get everyone seated in a timely matter! The restaurant was almost full when we went and we were only waiting for about 10 minutes or so. We typically don't have any complaints because the food is always SO flavorful. However, we weren't too impressed with the spicy garlic edamame because it had too much garlic for our liking. Also, although the rolls were great, we noticed that they would fall apart when we picked them up and/or dipped them in sauces (which made it kind of messy). This is really the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, I think it's still a great place and recommend it for anyone looking to try! read more

I have been coming to this location on and off for about a dozen years. The atmosphere is always nice and welcoming and the floor plan is open and well lit. Staff are sweet. The other day my family came here for dinner to enjoy the AYCE experience. I currently have 4 kids under 10 years old and this was going to be their first time trying rolls outside of the normal California, Crunchy shrimp, etc. as they had expressed an interest. Lucky for us this spot offers a $20 AYCE price for the kids - a lot of place don't do differing prices for kids/Adults. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive and engaged with speaking with our kids and asking what they liked. She kept my husband soda refilled without prompting. It's really great as you rarely have to wait to be seated and your server is at your table within minutes. Unlike some places that make you wait 10 minutes before you see someone. The beef in the bento box is very tender and flavorful. Bento box comes with your choice of 2 or 3 items. Includes a scoop of rice, miso soup, salad, and mixed tempura. Good portions. I wanted to take off 2 stars but gave one back because it tastes good. Where I wanted to take 2 stars off is that they charge you a 15% service charge plus automatic %15 tip. My food total of $26 came with a $3.99 service charge, automatic tip plus tax so ended up being over $32. Second review I first reviewed this location 2 years ago, and this was a repeat visit. Like last time, a very typical sushi AYCE location here in Riverside. A moderate selection of fresh sushi (nigiri) and a selection of fresh and prepared rolls. The fish to rice quality was outstanding, especially round one. The first was fresh, and was distinctive from the other fish on the plate. The yellowtail (limit 2 orders, 4 pieces) was exceptionally tasty. Could use a few more regular sushi options, but most of the quality options were there. The gyoza was quite tasty as well for a nice appetizer. The pieces were larger than expected. The miso soup was very hot, too hot for about 10minutes. The service was great... fast refills, and the sushi came out within about 5min of putting in the order. The attentiveness made me feel valued as a customer. The location itself was on the older side, with a slightly complicated design. The sushi bar was completely open, and the sushi chefs happy to talk to you about options. The restroom floors were sticky and needed attention. Overall the lunch price (27.99 for AYCE) pushes this location into the five star area. Short of some limited options, and a dirty floor in the restroom, I was impressed by my visit. 5/5 read more
