This is a great spot to meet a friend, which is exactly what I did. They had all types of food and also coffee and dessert. If you have different tastes, you can order at different locations and sit together in the middle, a classic food hall. The food selection is very good; it's hard to make a selection. We chose the kebab, a favorite of my friend's. It didn't disappoint. She gets the fries and I got a wrap. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and it was cool to see the selection at the rest of the business. Riverside Food Lab validates parking for a certain time so that is also convenient. Riverside Food Lab is their version of a public market in downtown Riverside. It's an indoor space with a wide variety of vendors. There are communal areas to sit so you can order from multiple vendors but sit together. This makes it easy for groups, because there's something for everyone! We decided to eat at the ramen stand. It was good, but not anything to call home for. I think the draw here is more the appeal of the different options, but nothing seemed especially appealing. This is one of the better food labs. Ive been to a food lab in downtown Santa ana, but this has better food choices and its more open. I really like the table style spacing and how the bars are next to each other. My daughter and her college friend home for spring break was meeting up with a high school friend in Riverside at this downtown food court. I gave them a ride there and then decided to check it out myself since I had also not yet eaten lunch. The parking behind it was spacious and cost $2.50 for 90 minutes which isn't bad. Lots of seating inside and outside. Very clean and cool inside thankfully, since it was 99 degrees outside today. Lots of seating both indoors and outside. Many options including ramen, poke, tacos, spicy chicken, mefiterranean, pizza. At least two places that serve alcohol, Filipino coffee/boba place, and a juice stop. Lots of college aged kids here but also families with preschool aged children. Clean bathrooms (no code). Ayoung man walking around and cleaning all the tables and sweeping the floors, even though I couldn't see anything on the floors to clean. A bit loud inside with TVs in at the main bar (Brass Monkey Social--great name!), and pop music playing. The Food Lab hosts a Karaoke night on Tuesdays and something called Game Lab which seems like different tournaments on other days, possibly in a different building? It's clearly a community hub in downtown which is wonderful to see. I ordered a Filipino boba drink at Tasa and a chicken kebab bowl at Fufu's and a Dubai chocolate at Mixie's and I'll separately review those places. I appreciated the higher stools attached to tables/counters inside with places to rest your feet. Overall I would say it's pretty inviting inside with the circular placement of restaurants, including a few in the middle . LED Lighting is on the dimmer side but there's lots of natural light coming in from the wall of windows. Staff were friendly and helpful at each place I stopped by to ask about the menu. It's a good option for eating out in Riverside, especially if you have a group with different tastes or cravings. There's something for everyone! read more

A friend and I were going to a concert nearby and were looking for a place to grab an early dinner. The Food Lab is right next to the venue and looked interesting, so we decided to check it out. The building it is in has a multi-story parking garage, and if you tell the attendant you are there for the Food Lab, the first 90 minutes is free. What a great food court! It has a dozen or so different food and drink places including burgers (smash & plant based), pizza, hot chicken, sushi, ramen, Mexican food, Mediterranean food, Cajun seafood, smoothies and boba, ice cream, shaved ice, a beer place, and a cocktail bar. If you can't find something to eat here, you must not be hungry. Some of the individual food places have their own seating, and there are also many common area tables throughout the interior. There is also a spacious covered outdoor patio with lots of tables. Fufu's Mideast Grill caught our eye, so we ordered food from there. We both ordered the beef kabob plate ($22.95) and I choose tabouli and fries for my two sides. The food was pretty slow to come out, about fifteen to twenty minutes. However it was a busy Friday night, and we were pleased that when the food was finally ready, it had all been cooked fresh to order. The two beef kabobs had a good amount of meat, which was cooked medium rare as requested, along with some onion and tomato. The rice was nice and fluffy, and the fries were hot and crisp. I'm picky about my tabouli, and this was one of the better ones I have had in a while. If it had a little more lemon juice, it would have rivaled my favorite place for tabouli. We watched them make the pita bread, and it was warm and very fluffy. Excellent fresh ingredients made to order, you can't beat that. We also got a few beers from Beerfarm to accompany our meal. They have about 20 beers on tap and very reasonable prices. I had a Dodger Blond Ale which was very good. It was a pleasant surprise when the bartender mentioned that Dodger branded beers are discounted when there is a Dodgers game on which was the case. The Dodgers happened to clinch a World Series berth a short time later! This is a great spot, and I'll definitely return to grab a bite and drink the next time I'm out here for a concert. read more

3 1/2 Stars! Visited the Riverside Food Lab for the first time this past week during lunch, and I was immediately impressed by the great atmosphere and variety of food options! The place gives off such good vibes, lively but relaxed. It does feel a little dated and maybe due for a renovation but it was clean enough. Even though it's not a huge food hall, it's super family-friendly. The standout was definitely the vegetarian cheeseburger from Monty's. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had. I'm not even vegetarian and I'm craving it again. We also loved the shawarma from Baba's, which was flavorful and satisfying. The Cajun shrimp taco we and Cajun fries we tried from another stall was just okay. We'll be back next time we're in Riverside or staying near the Mission Inn when we want good food at affordable prices. read more

SMALLER FOOD HALL near HOTELS & VENUES! I'm increasingly enjoying the Riverside Food Lab, we came for a quick ice cream stop at Mixies on this visit after a show at the Fox Theatre next door! The exit to the theatre literally leads you to the front of the food lab! I got excellent vibes and great food during my visit. My ice cream was great and the indoor temperature wasn't outrageous like last time! The RFL staff were constantly cleaning and wiping tables. I appreciate cleanliness in busy public spaces like this. It's a smaller food hall, but it's definitely got food traffic. It's got Baba's Chicken (a Yelp favorite), Mixies (ice cream), Papa Smash (Anime Smash Burgers) and so much more. The Food Lab bar is pretty neat too! If you're looking for vegetarian/vegan options, they have them here! RFL is a family friendly place, I come here with my parents and we typically enjoy every visit when the AC is on lol. The RFL also has special gaming events in the next door Game Lab (an arcade) and weekly social events inside the Food Lab like Karaoke Night and paint-n-sips! Note: If you're staying in Downtown, the Food Lab is near a Hyatt Place and Holiday Inn! It's very accessible to get here by foot. read more

We really like stopping at the cool food court for a bite when we are in the area. There is a little something for everyone--except, believe it or not, Mexican. There used to be a taqueria, but it has closed since the last time we were here. There are places for burgers, hot chicken, shrimp, ramen, pizza, gyros, ice cream, and sushi, as well as a couple of beer/cocktail places. The decor is pretty interesting with lots of cartoon-y, graffiti-ish stuff on the walls and a lot of neon signs. They have fun events here, too. We saw ads for karaoke night, college night, whiskey and wine Wednesday, and painting night. What a pretty cool vibe and place to check out or come for a date night! A variety of places to eat and so many options, why not try a few at a time! that's what we did. However, our combinations could have been better thought out. We did Cajun and Mexican. There is a bar, and it is quite big to offer many seats, there is also seating inside and outside. It was a busy Saturday weekend with the Festival of Lights, but it was a great first experience. We would definitely come back! Great place with a lot of options. I was here for a late dinner (9 pm) on a weekday and almost every shop was still open. My hotel room was across the street so I walked over, but it looks like there is street parking and maybe a nearby garage(?). There were still a lot of customers as well. There's indoor and outdoor seating, like at a food court in a mall. You just pick the shop you want to buy food from and then go find a table to eat at once you receive your food. I opted to eat at Soho ramen Riverside (there's another location not in Riverside). I got the breaded chicken curry with rice and an aloe vera drink. I ordered from a self service kiosk, but the person who handed me the drink and food was friendly. Food was great. I enjoyed it and finished every last bite. This was such a disappointing experience. The reviews were good, so my friends and I had lunch here after visiting the Cheech Museum. It is basically a glorified food court. People of all ages were there but it seemed to be mostly high school aged kids. The outdoor seating is the way to go. I had some chicken teriyaki. It was not good. The rice was undercooked. The chicken was dry. Very little sauce. My wife had Greek food. She said it was okay. My friends had pizza which they enjoyed. I can't help but think that I just made a bad choice in vendors? honestly always love everything the food lab has to offer! It's definitely a good hangout spot. Right now because of the holidays they actually have a Maruchan pop up outside. It's honestly so cute and I was really excited to try it. You get to try one of three new flavors. I decided on the miso & afterwards they ask a few questions and you can get some cute stickers. As for inside food lab, I always enjoy eating at Baba's Hot Chicken. I love ordering their cheese fries lol and I forgot to take a photo but their chicken is really good too. I got the nuggets this time, mild, and they were so yummy. There's also a boba spot inside, a little bar area and so many other things to choose from. I've tried several restaurants inside the Food Lab, and I've enjoyed them all--some more than others. More recently, I tried shrimp tacos and fried fish tacos from the new Cajun restaurant, Shrimp Shack (where Dhat Creole used to be). I tried the shrimp tacos first, and I really enjoyed them. They definitely did NOT skimp on the shrimp! There was so much shrimp, a few of them fell out after a couple bites. These tacos are probably the most packed shrimp tacos I've ever had. The flavors are amazing, and they have just the right amount of sauce on them. The fish tacos are also good, but if I had to choose, I'd say the shrimp tacos are better. There's also a good amount of fish on the tacos, and they also had a good amount of sauce. The only negative for me is I felt the fish tacos were a bit too salty. The fish is also fried hard, so if you prefer it on the softer side, you may need to request that when you order. I plan to go back to try the beignets. I was too full after those tacos to try them last time. read more

After a long day at my glambabies birthday party, we stopped here... I'm a glamma(bragging rights and irrelevant I know)!!! This place is so cool!! Inside there's bars and restaurants, next door, there's an entire room of video games for those who enjoy gaming. Warning.. this involves an witnessed incident onsite As we roam through next door in the food lab, we noticed a drunk lady walking through the premises swirving ... suddenly she, (the drunk lady,) walked up to a" minor" who was probably 16yrs old in which,( she appeared to have been on a school field trip)... was slapped or punched( by the drunk lady) so hard that everyone could hear it!! The 16yold was holding her red cheek, while the entire party of other students and staff stood in disbelief in shock and, at a stand still!!! The entire place got quiet!!! At least, it felt like it! I looked at the Lil girl and asked her Loudly "DID SHE JUST HIT YOU"? The Lil girl says " yes"while holding her cheek as her party of humans stood still, in disbelief!! I screamed" SECURITY SECURITY"and a few of them came running.... whereas one security ran right past me to apprehend the drunk lady who he was having a hard time with. (He must've witnessed it or had reports before my scream). I then, went up to another security and told him that I wanted the drunk human arrested IMMEDIATELY AND SHE SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE!! I was not leaving until I made sure that the drunk was detained in which, she was. Side note: Humans, instead of taking photos and video of incidents... be a kind human, and help one another!!! Back to the story: While standing there, angry as heck about a minor being hurt .... suddenly, while my back was turned, waiting for security to call 911, the drunk ladys friend (who wasn't drunk), started screaming at me(because the security who I was talking to, pointed at her while talking to me, telling me to look) to hear the friend saying that her friend was just drunk...I turned around and asked her. "What did you say" however, after I asked her what she said. " she kept saying "that she... the non drunk, didn't do anything " while shrugging her shoulders‍ I told her(the friend of the drunk) that," your drunk friend, hit a minor and she should be arrested...I want her arrested!!! The friend didn't say anything else to me, after that!! ( I may have left out what I really said, but this is a kid friendly version) My heart goes out to the 16yr old. I could feel my blood boiling... I'm a huge kid advocate and love humans, especially kids!!! I would not want harm to ever come to children, especially by the hands of a drunk stranger who doesn't even know the child!!! I would've done the same thing for anyone!!! My niece had to talk me into leaving because she could see me getting more upset at this incident the longer we stuck around. All I wanted to do, was hug the 16yr old but, she was already embarrassed and you could tell she wanted to cry. Poor baby!!! Ugh, this really hurts my soul!!! There are so many staff members here but only a couple took the job seriously and apprehended the drunk lady. As we were leaving, another group of humans stopped us and told us that, the drunk lady kicked their elderly dad. This is unacceptable and security did a great job apprehending the drunk. I hope that the drunk woke up this morning in jail and have to go to court for child and elderly abuse!!! Recommendations Overall, security should be spread out, walking around and not standing in one group!!! All signs of any humans getting wasted, to the point of becoming boisterous and aggressive, should be sent out of the establishment. Hopefully the parents, or teachers will read this post and contact me to press charges against that drunk lady who hurt this minor. If they pay my travel expenses, I'd happily testify!!! I wanted to do more to help this lovely kid, but I've grown accustomed to handling things according to the law as a good productive human meaning I've never been a thug but I've been a boxer in my youthful years... in this case, I wanted to grab the drunk and do a citizens arrest myself!!! (Amen) In closing This location is I absolutely love it in downtown Riverside California as there's lots of action including my favorite which is, the free bouncing low rider car show, and the bicycle crew with the bikes that light up, (all had their Ice cube and Tupac music)!!! We decided on this spot to hang out with my son's baseball team...this was a great idea. But man oh man. Since this place opened like almost 7 years ago now, it's kind of declined. The vendors haven't been very good. Quality is not great actually. Even my fav Montys doesn't quite taste as good anymore. It's a bummer because this is much closer to me. And ofc everything is overpriced. I recently checked out the Redlands Public Market which I felt was more superior food-wise than here. Haven City is also better in Rancho. read more
