After a game of mini golf, friends and I grabbed ramen in the evening. We had to wait for a little while on a Saturday evening to be seated. Service was still kind, immediate once we followed up after waiting perhaps a bit longer than needed. The ambiance inside was well lit, and there were plenty of slurping of noodles. The combination of meals offered are blessed. There is a window to view how the meals are prepared. You may see a flame erupt every now and then. I got a spicy veggie ramen. This was second time eating at Silverlake. My first experience was pleasant enough and my friend was craving ramen. On a Thursday, we decided to do a little birthday celebration for her. We went up to the counter for assistance. The server asked how many and we were promptly seated and given menus. I had been worried it would be busy and we would have to wait but it wasn't. After looking over the menu, we decided go the appetizer + ramen combo. I got the blaze ramen with fried gyoza and my friend got the shoyu ramen with chicken Karage. We waited for a bit for our food. The server bought me my appetizer and ramen and my friend her ramen. Everything tasted good. After a while, we noticed that the server hadn't bought my friend's appetizer. We had to wait awhile for her to come to the dining area before we were able to say something. She hadn't heard that my friend had wanted the appetizer + ramen combo too so she added that to our check. After a bit, we got it. That was delicious. Management at this location is an absolute joke. They'd seriously rather lose paying customers than make a simple seating accommodation. I politely asked to move from a hard bar-height stool that was literally jamming into my knees (I'm 6 feet tall), and they flat-out refused. The excuse? The other tables were "reserved for bigger groups." Funny, because there wasn't a single group waiting. Instead of doing what most normal restaurants do -- have customers wait for an available table -- they'd rather dig their heels in and turn people away. Customer service clearly isn't a priority here, and "first come, first serve" definitely doesn't apply at this place. It's mind-blowing how unwilling management was to make even the smallest effort to keep a customer. read more

Came in today because I saw that this spot has a happy hour menu! I opted for a draft beer (Sapporo), the chicken karaage and a large spicy tuna bowl. Everything was delicious! The karaage chicken was a hit for me, it's cooked perfectly and the dipping sauce is so flavorful. The spicy tuna bowl was good. I added soy sauce and siracha to give it a little boost. I noticed at this location they seat you first and you order from the table which I like better compared to the chino location where you have to order at the counter first. The food is still 5 star but had some issues today as I went on lunch and usually have no issues. This time is seems as if they don't have enough help for as popular as it has gotten. By the time we received our food we had to ask for the check and boxes to get back to work. One of our ramen orders had pork when it should have been chicken as the person who ordered cannot have pork. No time to have it fixed so she went without lunch today. Also they say if you sign up for the app you can get a free drink or a topping but the waitress Alexa who was amazing btw very attentive and apologetic even though nothing was her fault said they were unable to do it but when the manager was there she would speak to them if you know that your app isn't working with your system don't advertise it. Came here for my first time yesterday as my brother really enjoys ramen and wanted some for his birthday. We didn't eat at the spot but did take it and they made sure the bags were strong and all that was needed was nicely placed in them. I had no worries of the soup and all spilling anywhere. I love spice and I got their blaze with extra spicy. For me it wasn't spicy at all but provided such a great flavor to the soup. So if you enjoy what heat brings to a meal for flavor I would get it. You could always ask for the extra spice on the side if needed. My brother loves their gyoza and I tried their pork buns. Definitely would come to for their happy hour to get that 3 for $10 on those buns and that beer. Great music was playing as well. Just a few things seemed a little bit off such as the amount of pork only seemed like half as much the Garlic Truffle Ramen, as usual, and the pork was fattier than usual. Also, the flavor of the sesame broccolini just didn't quite seem as good as my other Silverlake Ramen experiences. Came on a Sunday afternoon and we got seated right away. The service was fast. We got the combo ramen and appetizer. I got the Blaze: Spicy Tonkatsu ramen with pork. It tasted good but I wouldn't say it's the best ramen I've tasted. The broth was rich and thick. You can adjust the Spicy level. My favorite was the Karaage chicken. It was on the saltier side but you can tell it was well seasoned and the sauce it came with complimented it really well. I also got a pork bao bun. It was just okay in flavor. To date, we've been to the first expansion in DTLA, then Huntington Beach, and now, finally, in Riverside. Located by the Tyler Galleria near the theater and Yardhouse, it's smaller than other locations, but that's the least of my concerns. We popped in midday on a Saturday and were sat immediately. It did pick up in terms of diners after we had ordered. We did not try any appetizers because, to date, we've noted they are not up to the high standards enjoyed at the original location; however, the Classic Tokotsu is the benchmark in question. Without question, this is the one to try first. It's notably balanced in flavors, and the comparatively low sodium doesn't leave me dehydrated afterward. That is important to note because most places are heavy-handed in the salt department. Typically, we order additional portions of pork belly and leave the rest alone as-is. We loved the noodles that are rendered al-dente essentially, and the pork belly is seared but not too dry. Just delicious! Our server was left in the lurch by a no-show employee, nevertheless, she handled the growing number of tables and hostess duties, and never got behind or lost her friendly demeanor, so kudos for being a Rockstar!! Finally a good Ramen place in Riverside! I've had Silverlake Ramen before in LA and when I saw that this opened in Riverside... Oh yeahhh! Classic Tonkatsu broth was on point: creamy, tasty, and good temperature. All the toppings were the right texture and the pork was delicious! They have a lunch deal for $20 you get a full size Ramen bowl + small appetizer. Not all Ramens and appetizers are part of the deal. I went here with my friend for lunch and both really enjoyed our meal and the service was good so we're coming later again for lunch after 2 weeks. I highly recommend this place. This is the worst takeout experience of my life. I ordered two orders of Ramen and two pork buns. One of the Ramen broths leaked in my car because the bowl had a bad seam in the bottom of the bowl so on my drive home the entire Ramin leak through the bag into my car and when I picked up the bag off my seat at the bottom of the bag fell out, spilling the rest of my meal all over my car. I immediately called the store and was offered no compensation. I left two messages for the manager to call me back and never received a phone call. I walked into the store the next day to request at least a refund of my entire meal and was told no. I gave them the opportunity to make things right. They've totally failed in their customer service and I would not ever visit this establishment again. I would also never recommend it as there are better Ramen places in the city of Riverside. I should have had my food refunded and an offer to clean my car. A refund for the food that I did not get to eat should have been the minimum. I would avoid this place. read more

That said, if you're after authentic Japanese food, this might not hit the mark. We've been to Japan several times, so our expectations may be different~but the ramen reminded us of good instant noodles, and the sushi rice was a bit hard and not as sticky as it should be.
