The best pho in the areas of: Towson, Pikesville, Timonium and points north. As I write this, I've now visited some of the better pho places in Bmore several times. This includes several (all?) of the well-rated local joints listed here on Yelp. Pho Tan My is definitely on par with the best pho in Baltimore. The quality of their broth is excellent and the noodles arrive fresh and tight. Both means they already hit the mark. But they the fact that they are in an area with no other pho options makes them even better. Oh, and their eye round comes out actually rare...bonus. EDIT: They DO have egg noodles! *Disregard this: One drawback: no egg noodles. If that's a dealbreaker, then ok (I do love them so much) But their noodles are so good you may be ok.* If you live in the area. you no longer need to downgrade to pho dat thanh (sorry guys). Regular 1 Pho - Broth is a little bland compared to other places. Heating it up at home helps a bit. Good portion of meat and noodles. Bun Bo Hue - Really liked this, broth is fragrant and spicy. Very nice atmosphere, you feel welcomed as soon as you step foot in this place. Food is authentic, owner is very nice and friendly. This is the best pho place in the Baltimore area! We usually have to go to South Philly to get a nice bowl, so it's great to finally have a place that's closer to home. I have tried pho from many places, mostly in Catonsville and a few in Towson. This place beats them all, hands down! Last night was our third time in three weeks. Chilly evening called for some warm and satisfying pho broth. Summer rolls, two different kinds of spring rolls are all so yummmmm! We like the one with taro inside, and it's sweet sauce that accompany it.. Last time I stopped in for carry out and asked about their desert menu. Owner said she had been so busy she didn't have time to make any but asked me to leave my number. I got a text yesterday saying that she had made some and even remembered my name! What service! If you haven't tried any Vietnamese desserts try them here, owner Tan is wonderful as well as everything on their menu. Update! As most who live north of the beltway, we can agree the lack of quality ethnic food is scarce. PTM is good.. not great.. but satisfies my craving for pho without having to drive to Rt 40. The place is clean, the service is efficient and friendly. The broth has a good amount of umami, but could use a little extra something. I like how the meat is rare and actually cooks in the broth as it's served. Portion size is good and I will agree that the sides of sprouts and basil could be a bit more bountiful. The spring and summer rolls are good too. But, I think they should be $3.75 as opposed to $4.75. Anyways, it's really quite good and worth trying. I will return. read more

I am sorry about 4 stars, I reserve 5 stars for really exceptional/Michelin star restaurants. This is a truly solid pho joint. Better than the one at Towson circle (Pho Dat Thanh?). Ingredients and execution is great for the pho #1. Good ingredients that are executed perfectly. Broth is rich, which is not what I am used to, but it is a good sign. I like mine with more cilantro. They are still learning the flow of their service but they are VERY fast. Order to food was less than 5 min for summer rolls. That was probably the only sub par thing, summer rolls was a little minimalist. Good ingredients (noodle, shrimp, lettuce) but that was it. Really dependent on peanut dip for flavor. Overall, if they keep it up, a worthy pho place around the neighborhood run by a family business. read more

I have ordered rare steak, this guys were very generous with the broth, but cheap on the rare steak, they gave only 4 tiny slices of rare steak. I did not order a beef broth, I have ordered a rare steak, you guys are getting cheap on your costumers, this is very disrespectful. The Pho here is very good but as one poster below commentated, they are very stingy with condiments such as chili pepper, cilantro and Thai basil. I also find their vermicelli is overcooked and the amount of meat in the bowls stingy. First of, this place is up and down; one minute the food tasted delicious and next time you order, it tasted terrible - there's no consistency! The food is also expensive that sometime makes you feel like it's not worth it, especially when it didn't taste good. Plus, they charge you extra for take-out, which I honestly do not agree with. They also don't give you much food for the price that you're still feeling hungry after eating. Tonight, I got 2 orders of #36, which is grilled beef with rice. It tasted disgusting! It didn't look delicious and worst, it tasted like it wasn't cook all the way. It's supposed to be grilled and it's a lighter colored than how it usually is. So if I get sick tonight, it's probably because the food I ate here wasn't cook all the way. I eventually threw the rest of the food in the trash; I just couldn't bare to eat it. In any business where a customer uses its services this frequently and even during a crisis period, I'd expect the owner to be grateful. Not here. I order the Tofu/vegetable pho all the time. They bring me a large bowl with vegetables and one piece of tofu. One! I've been to a lot of pho places and never had this happen. At first, I kept my mouth shut. But as it continued to happen, I asked why put Tofu on the menu if you only put one piece in the soup. They said if I want more than one, I have to pay extra. So if someone orders the steak pho and gets one slice, is that okay? No. This is completely rude and stingy and they should be ashamed. They just lost returning customers. read more
