I'd been craving pho for awhile, so when my mother and I were in the area, I knew I wanted to stop here. On a Thursday morning at eleven, there were very few people in the restaurant. We sat down, got our drinks, and the waitress came and took our order immediately. My mother, who doesn't know Vietnamese food at all, felt rushed and ordered something random without reading the menu--which led to her not liking what she had ordered (the broken rice with shrimp). I ordered the #2 pho and I thought it was delicious. Food came out within ten minutes. Really liked the pho, thought it was delicious and worth the price. Ended up with a 5% discount because we paid with cash. All in all, go here for the pho. Very quick service and the broth is quite good. read more

A lot of negative reviews here comparing Pho Tan My to their best Vietnamese experience ever. There's a lot of competition in the Baltimore/DC area and I can say I've eaten at Vietnamese restaurants in Catonsville and Baltimore and DC and Northern Virginia. And I've eaten at Vietnamese restaurants with more expansive menus, but... The pho broth at Pho Tan My is complex and delicious. I have tried a few other things on the menu but I always go back for the Pho Dac Biet and the summer rolls. The other things I've tried, the grilled pork with rice noodles etc, are quite good, but their pho broth is incredibly aromatic and favorable. It's all delicious. I give four stars only because yes I have had more memorable experiences at other Vietnamese restaurants in DC and VA, but if you want just simply good pho in Northern Baltimore County this is the place. If you feel like driving an hour or more for better you can do that, but this is really good stuff. read more

This is the best pho in the Baltimore area. Hands down. The broth has amazing depth of flavor. It is perfect--fresh and authentic. After the bean sprouts, basil, onion, and lime--it needs no further additions. I couldn't ask for more. It's packed at lunch time! Come early! read more

This restaurant is probably closer to a 4.5 stars than just 4 stars for me. I ordered a large #6 (Brisket & Eye of Round) & an order of the Spring Rolls. I really enjoyed their home made chili oil (Sign of a good pho place), and the broth was better than most other pho restaurants. However, the meat in my soup wasn't great - and the spring rolls came out immediately after ordering so who knows how long prior to ordering they got cooked. They were cold, but the flavor was there. Veggies in my pho were good. The broth was very bland but I would have been okay with this because I can doctor it up a bit. What really left a bad taste in my mouth was that they charged $4 for extra noodles (a bit high but okay) but they only filled it half way. They also charged 50 cents for a quart container to put the noodles in. This kind of nickel and diming is ridiculous. If they need to charge more for the soup, fine but charging $4.50 for a quart of noodles and filling it half way is just not good business. Lastly, since they charge 3% surcharge for credit cards, I decided to take them up on their 3% cash discount offer but they never applied it. I would have loved to message them directly with a photo before posting here but their FB page doesn't allow for messaging. I'll stick with Pho Dat Thanh down the road. read more

Not sure why I took so long to Yelp Pho places near Towson, but of course I find a good place when I'm moving away from the neighborhood! I went on a Friday evening and it was pretty empty inside, it looks like they are doing mostly takeout orders. I ordered the small seafood pho and the broken rice pork platter. Both dishes were great and I'd definitely order again. The only reason for taking off a star is the price. Vietnamese food isn't known for being expensive but both dishes together were $30 and the pork plate was small. read more

Finally culture has arrived in Cockeysville, we have a Vietnamese restaurant of our very own. We were happy to see the place busy on a Saturday afternoon so soon after opening. The restaurant is spotlessly clean with well designed menus filled with traditional Vietnamese cuisine. My wife ordered the egg noodles with veggie broth and vegetarian ham which she really enjoyed plus a delicious iced coffee. I got my traditional bun with grilled beef and a spring roll. Everything was fresh and tasty and portions were fair for the price. I would have liked some more greenery in my dish. Service was friendly and attentive. read more

The pho itself is ok, but they don't give you cilantro and pretty stingy with the basil and other garnishes. The service is very fast and friendly, place is new and clean, so two stars for the pho and service. However, the vermicelli dishes are awful. Not sure what the chef is doing back there but I got a oily stir fry noodle dish (using the wrong noodles) with four chunks of stir fried beef and big chunks of celery and bell peppers. Ummm...that is NOT bún. Bún's meat is supposed to be grilled, garnished with crushed peanuts, marinated carrots, cilantro and you get the drill. I actually felt a little ill eating it due to the heavy oil in it. My s.o. ordered a iced Vietnamese coffee and instead of coming out in a glass with the condensed milk on the side, it came out in a styrofoam cup half filled with ice and espresso size shot poured over it. Big rip off and bad presentation. My .02: Stick to the pho and you'll be ok I guess, *but* this is not going to be a replacement for us compared to our regular pho spot. I get the feeling that the owners are trying to run a sit down place as a fast and cheap (as in taking short cuts) take out joint and it shows in the lack of attention paid to what Vietnamese dishes should be like. read more

I almost never leave reviews, and can't recall leaving a bad one, but.....this was inedible and expensive. I ordered the hu tieu with shrimp. The broth smelled and tasted like the water that fish was cooked in and the scallions and cilantro were too sparse to add any positive flavor. The shrimp were so overcooked that they were mealy. The summer roll was only marginally better. It had only shredded iceberg lettuce and shrimp in it- no other herbs like cilantro or basil to give it flavor and the peanut sauce was just not good. My family's bun dishes were edible (one got chicken and one got pork) but not tasty.....and that was not worth $75. Also note they charge a surcharge for credit card use which is not advertised as required. But on a positive note...the staff were exceptionally nice and eager to serve. read more

A wonderful vietnamese restaurant. Menu doesn't show Bahn Mi but they do have them available and they are excellent. The pho broth is exceptional and I would dare say the best in the DC-Baltimore area. It's clear, tasty, and definitely meat-based. The small size pho is a bit small for the price but well worth it considering the quality. I can also recommend the vietnamese ice coffee, it's legit. This was my first visit and I wasn't impressed. The meat was provided raw, the portions were small, the broth was bland and there was not hot sauce to provide the heat. Also, they add a $0.50 carryout fee per item, which is silly since the place is only big enough for about 3 tables and 90% of their business is carryout. If you expecting to have a cooked meal, this is NOT your place. This is one step above having to cook it yourself. There are MUCH better pho places in Owings Mills, Catonsville and Parkville. Wow, wow, wow. Food here is excellent. Broth is hot and rich in meaty flavor. The spices subtlety enhance the flavor. Condiments a-plenty; I prefer my pho with Sriracha and hoisin on the side with a squeeze of lime juice. Husband and I both ordered the Pho tai, which is rare steak. The thin slivers of beef cook in the broth. Took off 1 star as service was a bit slow and we felt forgotten in the sea of customers (had to walk up to the counter for menus and to request the check). Best Vietnamese food around here! I get takeout from Pho Tan My almost every week. The pho, Bún Chà Giò Thit Heo Nuöng (grilled pork vermicelli), and new Bánh Mi Thit (roasted pork sandwich) are some of my favorites. The prices have increased slightly since I started eating here last year, but that's expected (and well worth the extra penny). The staff is very friendly and is always happy to see a familiar face :) Highly recommend! read more

The best pho I've had in Maryland, always amazing. You can comfortably try anything on the menu and it will be delicious. We don't have any Vietnamese food places left around Essex, so we made the trip to Pho Tan My for carry out. While my husband waited they offered him cookies And a drink. It was clean inside. The pho was fresh and fabulous! The summer rolls (my personal fave) were spot on. The only thing I will do differently next time is order extra peanut sauce as they didn't give enough. read more

So glad I found this place. Probably the best and the closest to authentic Vietnamese you will find in Baltimore. I've had their pho tai and pho dac biet, and hue tieu nam vang. All delicious and outside of having my mom make these dishes at home they're close to home made. The hue tieu I had didn't have the clear noodles but all other ingredients were pretty true to authentic Vietnamese with chives and a little bit of ground pork in soup. The goi coun just needs little less lettuce and chives and it would be great and not just good. The bun Tom nuong was also delicious. I'm not a huge fan of fish sauce and theirs is a little strong for me but the seasoning makes up for it read more
