I am Vietnamese and I have to say -- the Vietnamese iced coffee was really good and it was a very reasonable price. It was just over $5 and it comes with a lot of iced coffee and a reasonable amount of ice. It is perfect for road trips. They take Apple Pay too which is a really good plus! The staff was nice.
There are plenty of Vietnamese Pho places to visit in Flushing and I'm making my way through all of them. The latest on the list is Pho Tan on Northern Blvd and we're here for dinner. The dining room is spacious and on a Tuesday night, we have no problem getting a table. We start with some Shrimp Summer Rolls that come with a tangy sesame sauce and Chicken Satay with a sweet & savory peanut sauce, both good appetizers. My wife also had the Thai Glass Noodle Salad with Chicken, normally as an appetizer but as her entrée. Be careful of those tiny slices of red chili pepper because they are deadly spicy! Pho Tan's #1 火車頭 Locomotive Beef Pho bowl is the BiGGeSt I've ever encountered! And I have never met a pho bowl I didn't like. The #1 is an XL bowl that is a full 10" in diameter! The way the server balances 2 full bowls of hot liquid is impressive. I judge all pho places by their Locomotives. They might go by different names with slight variations, but it all "boils" down to the broth, rice noodles and sliced beef. It is filled with fragrant broth, generous portion of noodles, tasty & tender slices of eye round, brisket, tendon, tripe and garnished with plenty of green & white onions. At other places, the flavor of the beef usually gets lost in the broth, but these slices had distinct flavors all their own. They also give you even more garnishes on a plate with lemon wedges, bean sprouts, fresh sprigs of basil and cilantro to customize the flavor & texture. For an added $2, you can even add a quartet of fish balls. Enjoy it while it is steaming hot!
Very good experience at Pho Tan with one of my best friends for dinner on a Wednesday. We were able to pick our own table which was nice. We shared the soft shell crab spring rolls which were very tasty. My friend recommended I try the traditional Vietnamese drink called Calamansi which is made out of kumquats. It was very fruity and refreshing. I had the big bowl combo pho with rare rib eye, brisket, tendon, and tripe. So flavorful and worth the money.
I got off the Murray Hill LIRR and was looking for a cheap restaurant. As I walked around Northern Blvd, I saw that this place was almost full and reviewed the menu outside. After ensuring it would be less than $20 I walked in! Food: 4/5 I ordered the Rare ribeye pho and a summer roll. The summer roll had fresh shrimp and was tasty but was missing the thai basil I love. This seeemed to be replaced by iceberg lettuce. The peanut dip that companies it was okay not my favorite. My beef pho had a generous amount of beef in the bowl - like the most meat in pho I have every had. However, the broth was not super hot and quite flat flavor wise. But for the cost, this was most definitely worth it. Once I sat down they were very quick to take my order and send the food out. I appreciated it especially since it was a cold day. All in all, I would go back if I am in the area and need some cheap eats. However, I am not going out of my way to come back here.
Grilled beef 9/10 The meat was very juicy and sweet! Big bowl house special combo 8/10 Good amount of meat for a reasonable price. The downsides are: light flavor in the broth, and the fat in some of the meat was not removed Vietnamese Drip Coffee 8/10 It has the right flavor and was not too sweet Pad Thai shrimp 7/10 Sweet noodles. Lots of big shrimp. I counted around 6 in there.
First time trying this spot. Food was overall good and nicely presented. The pho broth was a bit lighter in flavor than we are used so we were a bit disappointed. Portions were great for the value. The restaurant was bright, clean and fairly spacious. Staff was friendly and service was great (but we dined in between the lunch and dinner rush).
This is our go to pho place. The place is a good size restaurant with many 2 and 4 tables but only one large table for 10. Can't bring a large group during dinner hour or it's going to be a long wait. We like starting with the shrimp rolls as an appetizer. They use whole, large shrimps. Then hubby usually gets the large bowl with assorted beef, tendon, tripe in a soup broth. The #1. They bring basil, lemon, and bean sprouts on the side that you can add, there are various condiments on the table in a caddy you can use to spice up the taste. I had the pork on vermicelli noodles. It was loaded with carrots, peanuts,tomatoes, cucumber, sprouts and grilled pork slices, vermicelli in a little bit or sauce and a cup full so you can add more. The pork was nicely grilled but a little too fatty this time. Hopefully it won't happen again. Otherwise we had a good meal
Reasonably priced menu but pho broth was a bit bland and lacking flavor. Nice portions but service was really dismal where guests were served their dish every 15 minutes? I was practically finished when my seatmate just got his meal. A group of 11 and each was served about 10-15 mins apart. The best eat was the fried shrimp roll. Even then the 2 orders came 10- minutes apart. Luckily the company was good and made the wait bearable.
Grilled Beef Banh Mi via Uber. They should call it The Carnivore's dream. Absolutely LOADED with hefty amounts of thick grilled beef strips. It also travels well. Fresh baked bread retained its crisp exterior while maintaining warmth within. 10/10. Would order for consecutive meal. See pic for scale
Reasonably priced and exactly what I'd expect from a pho place! We got the grilled beef over vermicelli, the grilled pork chop over rice, and my friends got the cubed beef over rice and the pho. The grilled beef and grilled pork chop are seasoned well, no complaints. The cubed beef over rice is a bit hearty, almost like they cooked it in butter. The pho portions are quite large. The restaurant feels spacious and is very family friendly!

I understand they just opened up but they took forever just to bring us water and chopsticks. We had to call the servers a few times to take our order and bring us utensils. The food came out very quickly but the pho was just disappointing. The broth was very dark and warm, but not hot. The meat was overwhelming, it was just way too much meat and it wasn't tender enough to eat. The grilled pork chop was good but small portions and the summer rolls were just ok. I know it's a new establishment but work needs to be done for improvement. I won't be back again.
Finally a Pho spot near home that actually tastes good and inexpensive with spacious seating. They have been open for 2 weeks already and I got my family to go try it out with me. We all enjoyed our meals, didn't have any leftovers at all. What we ordered: Large spring rolls Watercress in garlic Filet mignon cubes (beef cubes) over rice Grilled beef over rice House special combo pho Beef brisket tendon pho Grilled pork chop, shredded pork, egg crab pork patty over rice Tri color ice The 2 ladies working spoke English, Cantonese and mandarin. Definitely coming back to try their Banh Mi's. Really hoping it's good because everywhere else in Queens isn't like the ones we like from Chinatown.
I was excited to see a new Pho place opened up near my house! Love trying new places, especially family businesses. I came here back in April when they were still pretty new. Service was.... not the best. We were standing around for awhile until someone noticed and seated us. They were definitely not prepared to be busy! My bf and I ordered the house special combo pho, grilled chicken banh mi, sugercane shrimp, filet mignon cubes, and a viet coffee. The pho was a little more oily than I'm used to, still good though. I actually REALLY enjoyed the banh mi. The bread was sooo good, not too hard and perfectly toasted. Love that they also put a lot of daikon and carrot. Chicken was also super moist. Definitely getting this again. Also $8 is a really good price! The sugercane shrimp was okay, but I'd probably pass on this to try something else next time. Also wasn't a fan of the filet mignon cubes. I wish there was some sort of glaze? Or a better sauce or seasoning. It fell flat. Finally, when we were already mid way, almost done, I realized that our Viet coffee had yet to arrive! I had to ask 2 times and it finally came out at the end. Overall, great place and I will be back! Definitely for the banh mi and to try some other things. Hopefully after a few months, service has improved too.
Definitely coming back here. Went with my sis and BIL. Place is large and got a lot of seatings. I ordered the pho with grilled pork, sis got papaya salad and BIL got the ribeye and tendon pho. We used to go to another pho which we love for its price, flavor, meat, etc. That pho has closed so we're trying Pho Tan. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. First time here so feel like items may be hit or miss. We were seated immediately and food came out pretty quick after we ordered too. Staff was nice and interior was designed with a lot fake leaves. Papaya salad wasn't bad. Would prefer it to be spicier. All other ones I've had were spicy but this one wasn't spicy at all. Not sure if it's normal to be spicy or they forgot to make it spicy. Ribeye and tendon pho was decent, got a good amount of meat and tendon melted in your mouth. Would prefer pho broth to have a tad more flavor, but all good after we used the sauces on the side. My grilled pork pho was same soup base but THE GRILLED PORK!! Couldn't believe my eyes when the waiter brought out my food cuz like the size of the pork chop?? And there's 2????? Wasn't even like there's mainly bones so there's 2. Each one had a VERY decent amount of meat on it and can I say the flavors greeeeeat. Texture too! So tender. There were some bites where some can say there's a bit much fat one it but it's still like barely any percentage compared to the size of the pork chops. I also appreciate small amounts of fat. Been looking for a go to since Pho Best closed down. So far I like this place better, if they were consistent. Just based on my last visit: The pho broth is great, both heavy in the herbs and spices, and beef flavor. One of the better broths I've had. They also are heavy handed on the meat which is amazing. With that said, the previous visit, the broth was a little lacking on flavor. As if they needed more salt, which was corrected when I added hoisin sauce. Otherwise, still a lot of meat and spices Just on ordering the pho, service was extremely quick. Decent pho. I got the beef brisket one, the broth was flavorful and the beef was tender and soft. The service was quick and the ambiance was relaxing, there is a lot of space so we weren't squished or anything. For the price, it was worth it. I would come back here for a quick bite or if I'm just craving pho. read more
As soon as I walked in I smelled Pho aroma which is great so I set a very high expectation for their Pho. However, I was a bit disappointed. The broth was way too plain and has very little flavor. Well, it was not that bad but it won't be my top choice for pho. The best part about this the spaces. The restaurant was huge and the tables were space out which is the best part of the restaurant. The staffs were friendly and very informative. I was over heard the way they explained the food to the customer on the table next to me. The staffs are very detailed which probably the best part of the restaurant to have staffs that are very informative and patient. Overall I probably won't go there just to eat on my day off, or hang out but may stop by if I happened to be around the area. read more
This Vietnamese restaurant is decently priced with a variety of menu options. The food is "close" to authentic and has good flavor. Nice and hot, and portion size is good. First time here,The beef broth taste is too mild,i prefer the soup too be more hotter than warm. Sauce dish bowl is so small that I've to eat half way n refill again n again. The coffee is not tasty and strong. read more
Been here about 4 times already since they opened! They increased the price about 2 dollars though. Interior is spacious and they added a bunch of new decor. I dislike when my pho is too fishy and it was not the case at this spot. If you're going with a large group of friends, I recommend getting spring rolls and skewers too! This place has been my goto spot for a spontaneous hearty soupy meal on a cold night. They give free hot tea which is PLUS 10 POINTS for me. read more

Pho Tan was highly recommended by a relative so we had to stop by and try it out. Portions were sufficient and the prices were very reasonable but the Pad Thai lacked that tangy kick, and the calamari was just ok. The grilled pork chop with spring rolls and the Pho was on the money. read more
I love this place! It's on northern boulevard that's far away from the Main Street madness. Broth is clean and flavorful! Also I don't leave feeling like I need to chug a gallon of water! The fried spring rolls are fried perfectly and the fried shrimp rolls as well! I have not had any of the other stuff because I only pop in for pho! I guess I'll have to explore the rest of the menu, but damn! That's good soup! I took a picture of the rolls after I ate one of each, there are 4 per order! read more

I would leave a better review, but considering my family of 5 came in here and got seated and waited 25 mins without being served while others that came in after and got seated after us got to order and got their food before we even could order anything. Ther was also nothing on our table but menus. As we were about to walk out, server even came to ask what we wanted to order. Instead of ordering like we had planned, I ended up ordering just the mininum 4 orders of pho. And just decided it was enough since seems they didn't want serve us as it is. It's really hard to find good Viet food in flushing & I thought this place was pretty decent. I liked my bfs grilled pork dish & the pho hit the spot on a cool, rainy day. New pho place on Northern; came on a Saturday night at 8pm for 2 - seated right away. House special combo BIG BOWL 7/10 - soup base was very tasty but wish it was hotter so that it would have cooked the rare beef more Beef cube over rice 7/10 - not the traditional viet style dish but wasn't bad Shrimp summer roll 9/10 - in replacement of the peanut sauce they used a roasted sesame dip which tasted very much like the kewpie brand which I don't mind LOL Crispy shrimp 6/10 - I thought it okay, fiancé thought it should have been more flavorful Overall 8/10 read more

On Northern Blvd a few blocks down from Flushing High School is the newest Vietnamese restaurant in that area, Pho Tan. The dining room was spacious, the wait staff was attentive, the food came out within 15 minutes, and overall the Vietnamese food was almost 100% authentic. The best items would be their signature pho and sugarcane shrimp. The prices for the items on the menu are at least 20% less than the usual rate for the Vietnamese restaurants in Flushing, which is an incredibly great value for the quality of food that you are getting. The tricolor ice is very basic and not reminiscent of true Vietnamese desserts but the other items made up for that. The nuoc cham or fish sauce was very bland but the rice noodle vermicelli bowls are well balanced with lots of veggies and protein. Overall, great restaurant to dine in and would be even better if they had additional parking for customers. read more
Today we ordered our old duo again - pho and spring rolls. Pho is really good today, and I feel like every time I come here, the portion has gotten bigger. The noodle is cooked better than before. However, the spring rolls today weren't fried well. It's not crispy at all, soaked in oil and looks really brown. The inside is not minced pork anymore, now it's pork strips. Fish sauce flavor tastes milder as well. Overall, still a satisfying meal. read more

A nice affordable Vietnamese restaurant in Flushing. All their dishes are $10-11 except for their chef specials (~$16). The service is very quick and their portions were nice. I had the traditional beef pho Big Bowl. The broth wasn't the most spectacular but it does the job. It had large portions of meat and I finished till the last drop. Wish the spring rolls were the other kind where they add pork, mushrooms and vermicelli. If you ask me, springs rolls and pho are probably my favorite go-to on any Viet menu and I believe it's a standard. The spring rolls were more like the Thai version. Overall a decent place for Pho.
