I am Vietnamese and I have to say -- the Vietnamese iced coffee was really good and it was a very reasonable price. It was just over $5 and it comes with a lot of iced coffee and a reasonable amount of ice. It is perfect for road trips. They take Apple Pay too which is a really good plus! The staff was nice.

There are plenty of Vietnamese Pho places to visit in Flushing and I'm making my way through all of them. The latest on the list is Pho Tan on Northern Blvd and we're here for dinner. The dining room is spacious and on a Tuesday night, we have no problem getting a table. We start with some Shrimp Summer Rolls that come with a tangy sesame sauce and Chicken Satay with a sweet & savory peanut sauce, both good appetizers. My wife also had the Thai Glass Noodle Salad with Chicken, normally as an appetizer but as her entrée. Be careful of those tiny slices of red chili pepper because they are deadly spicy! Pho Tan's #1 火車頭 Locomotive Beef Pho bowl is the BiGGeSt I've ever encountered! And I have never met a pho bowl I didn't like. The #1 is an XL bowl that is a full 10" in diameter! The way the server balances 2 full bowls of hot liquid is impressive. I judge all pho places by their Locomotives. They might go by different names with slight variations, but it all "boils" down to the broth, rice noodles and sliced beef. It is filled with fragrant broth, generous portion of noodles, tasty & tender slices of eye round, brisket, tendon, tripe and garnished with plenty of green & white onions. At other places, the flavor of the beef usually gets lost in the broth, but these slices had distinct flavors all their own. They also give you even more garnishes on a plate with lemon wedges, bean sprouts, fresh sprigs of basil and cilantro to customize the flavor & texture. For an added $2, you can even add a quartet of fish balls. Enjoy it while it is steaming hot!

Very good experience at Pho Tan with one of my best friends for dinner on a Wednesday. We were able to pick our own table which was nice. We shared the soft shell crab spring rolls which were very tasty. My friend recommended I try the traditional Vietnamese drink called Calamansi which is made out of kumquats. It was very fruity and refreshing. I had the big bowl combo pho with rare rib eye, brisket, tendon, and tripe. So flavorful and worth the money.

I got off the Murray Hill LIRR and was looking for a cheap restaurant. As I walked around Northern Blvd, I saw that this place was almost full and reviewed the menu outside. After ensuring it would be less than $20 I walked in! Food: 4/5 I ordered the Rare ribeye pho and a summer roll. The summer roll had fresh shrimp and was tasty but was missing the thai basil I love. This seeemed to be replaced by iceberg lettuce. The peanut dip that companies it was okay not my favorite. My beef pho had a generous amount of beef in the bowl - like the most meat in pho I have every had. However, the broth was not super hot and quite flat flavor wise. But for the cost, this was most definitely worth it. Once I sat down they were very quick to take my order and send the food out. I appreciated it especially since it was a cold day. All in all, I would go back if I am in the area and need some cheap eats. However, I am not going out of my way to come back here.

The downsides are: light flavor in the broth, and the fat in some of the meat was not removed Vietnamese Drip Coffee 8/10 It has the right flavor and was not too sweet Pad Thai shrimp 7/10 Sweet noodles. Lots of big shrimp. I counted around 6 in there.

First time trying this spot. Food was overall good and nicely presented. The pho broth was a bit lighter in flavor than we are used so we were a bit disappointed. Portions were great for the value. The restaurant was bright, clean and fairly spacious. Staff was friendly and service was great (but we dined in between the lunch and dinner rush).

This is our go to pho place. The place is a good size restaurant with many 2 and 4 tables but only one large table for 10. Can't bring a large group during dinner hour or it's going to be a long wait. We like starting with the shrimp rolls as an appetizer. They use whole, large shrimps. Then hubby usually gets the large bowl with assorted beef, tendon, tripe in a soup broth. The #1. They bring basil, lemon, and bean sprouts on the side that you can add, there are various condiments on the table in a caddy you can use to spice up the taste. I had the pork on vermicelli noodles. It was loaded with carrots, peanuts,tomatoes, cucumber, sprouts and grilled pork slices, vermicelli in a little bit or sauce and a cup full so you can add more. The pork was nicely grilled but a little too fatty this time. Hopefully it won't happen again. Otherwise we had a good meal

Reasonably priced menu but pho broth was a bit bland and lacking flavor. Nice portions but service was really dismal where guests were served their dish every 15 minutes? I was practically finished when my seatmate just got his meal. A group of 11 and each was served about 10-15 mins apart. The best eat was the fried shrimp roll. Even then the 2 orders came 10- minutes apart. Luckily the company was good and made the wait bearable.

Reasonably priced and exactly what I'd expect from a pho place! We got the grilled beef over vermicelli, the grilled pork chop over rice, and my friends got the cubed beef over rice and the pho. The grilled beef and grilled pork chop are seasoned well, no complaints. The cubed beef over rice is a bit hearty, almost like they cooked it in butter. The pho portions are quite large. The restaurant feels spacious and is very family friendly!

Decent pho. I got the beef brisket one, the broth was flavorful and the beef was tender and soft. The service was quick and the ambiance was relaxing, there is a lot of space so we weren't squished or anything. For the price, it was worth it. I would come back here for a quick bite or if I'm just craving pho.

As soon as I walked in I smelled Pho aroma which is great so I set a very high expectation for their Pho. However, I was a bit disappointed. The broth was way too plain and has very little flavor. Well, it was not that bad but it won't be my top choice for pho. The best part about this the spaces. The restaurant was huge and the tables were space out which is the best part of the restaurant. The staffs were friendly and very informative. I was over heard the way they explained the food to the customer on the table next to me. The staffs are very detailed which probably the best part of the restaurant to have staffs that are very informative and patient. Overall I probably won't go there just to eat on my day off, or hang out but may stop by if I happened to be around the area.

This Vietnamese restaurant is decently priced with a variety of menu options. The food is "close" to authentic and has good flavor. Nice and hot, and portion size is good. I would come back since this is a good spot for small groups and I'm full after eating! The Thai iced tea is good as well!

Not too sweet or spicy. - Garlic Noodles w/ Crispy Pork Belly: the pork belly was really crisped up, so some pieces were a bit too crisped up for me. The noodles were cooked well though. A lot of good flavos, a bit heavy on the salty umami but I like that. I'd choose a different protein next time. I did take the som tum pu pla-ra and the garlic noodles home for leftovers. Both maintained their deliciousness. The Mango Thai Tea has a good balance of mango and thai tea. It was a little sweet, but not overly so. Our group was quite hungry as we had just walked maybe 14-16 or so miles, and I looked up the local spots around where we finished, and this lovely place popped up. We arrived pretty early for lunch, and there was already a handful of people here, but by the time we left, it was crowded. The inside has a nice design, almost reminding me of the old markets in Bangkok back when I was there. The female server we had was very friendly, giving recommendations to the people in our group who were less familiar with Thai food or helping them decide between dishes. I will note, though, that we were unaware of the lunch menu until post-meal, but that was fine with me as I left happily full. While I only had one dish and a bite of an appetizer, I would definitely go back here, and I wish it were closer, as I found this spot a gem among the many Thai spots. Someone else ordered the Curry Puffs for $10, with homemade puff pastry, ground chicken, potato, and onion with cucumber relish, as an appetizer. The dish arrived with three puffs, and I had a tiny bit of one of the parts as I wasn't sharing this dish. From the little I tasted, the puff was standard, but good, with a lightly spiced filling. The cucumber relish was slightly sweet as expected. The presentation was also nice, as there was a piece of watermelon radish as well as some sliced carrots. My main dish was the $16 Sukhothai Spicy Pork Noodle Soup with thin rice noodles, handmade pork meatballs, roasted pork, long beans, bean sprouts, peanuts, dried shrimp, and boiled egg. The dish arrived with a cracker with their logo on it, which was a fun touch, though it was soon dipped into the broth. The broth was slightly rich and quite porky as expected, and was mildly spicy. As per many other traditional Thai spots, though, they gave the usual mix of chilies and chili sauces, so soon, the spice was to my liking. The pork meatballs had a bit of bounce, and the roasted pork had good flavor. The rest of the vegetables and peanuts added a good crunch. The noodles were plentiful, and while I prefer egg noodles or thicker rice noodles found in other Thai soups, as they grab onto the broth better, they worked here. The rest of the people enjoyed their more generic dishes, ranging from green curries to Pad Thai to Pad Kee Mao/drunken noodles. I wish this place were closer, as I would definitely go back. The ratings are high, but justified.

The veggies are great anywhere, though you maybe need to cut up some of the veggies (like the broccoli) to fit in the hot pot. The desserts change seasonally, besides the shaved ice. I do enjoy the Mango with Sweet Coconut Sticky Rice, but that is seasonal (mango season). The service is attentive and helpful. They changed out the grill for us a couple times, and cleared away out empty plates. At $39.98/person for all the food, it is definitely worth it for the variety and quality of ingredients. I will have to frequent this place more often!

Did that sound like the Ghostbusters song? We came in on Halloween night and the staff were dressed in costume, as were many customers. A lot of Thai restaurants have been popping up lately, but what makes Thai Social stand out is their menu that not only includes many standard dishes like Pad Thai & Pad Se Ew, but also the chef's special creations. We started with the Snow Mushrooms appetizer, which was a spring roll wrap around a cluster of beech mushrooms and deep fried. It was very tasty, especially with the sweet chili dipping sauce. There are 5 pieces meant for a larger group, so it was a little much for just the 2 of us, but no complaints because we were hungry. The Kai Toon Talay was up next with squid rings & shrimp on top of a steamed egg omelet in a spicy sauce simmering on top of an open flame. You need the Jasmine rice because it is a very rich and heavy dish. The Khao Soi Gai is a chicken leg in a similar spicy sauce on a bed of ramen noodles and topped with a cake of crunchy deep fried thin noodles. I wish it was all crunchy noodles because the ramen noodles were a little soggy. Even though the drumstick was pretty big, it was just one piece. A whole thigh/drumstick quarter would have been more generous. We finished our meal in the allotted time and can't wait to go back to try some of the standard dishes, as well as to explore the rest of the specials menu.
