Unfortunately this review is probably a day late and, from the restaurant's perspective, a few dollars short because word hit Instagram that they are closing at the end of the month. Also its surprising because every time I go the place is pretty packed and occasionally there is a wait. What's also a shame, for me, is that on my recent visit my friend ordered the Steamed Seafood in Lemongrass and this is perhaps the top, or one of the top dishes on the menu. The seafood flavors and balances the slightly spicy lemongrass broth making this a crave worthy bowl. I ordered something out of my wheelhouse - the Coconut Spicy Lemongrass Soup, which on online order menu states its a popular dish. I couldn't see why this dish is so popular because I find other items on the menu superior. They make a tasty pho (especially when paired with a marrow bone). Their sandwiches are well made - I enjoy the different fish ones. I think their Vietnamese coffee could use some work - it is blander than other versions I had tried. Don't be too sad and maybe feel a little optimistic because owner Petra Rickman has a great track record opening interesting, in demand restaurants (This one and Taco Azul have been longtime go-tos in Whitestone). The Beef Pho was solid, mild and balanced in flavor, and pretty standard to what you'd find at any pho spot. By this point, we were definitely full (and had leftovers) but I couldn't stop thinking about the Ube Cheesecake. And I'm so glad we ordered it! The cheesecake was a beautiful vibrant purple color, the ube flavor was pronounced, and the graham crust was soft, light, and not overpowering to the ube. On my last visit with a group of friends, I ordered the MANGO KAFFIR LIME MULE which is Kaffir lime leave soju, mango puree and ginger beer. It is to die for. Ginger & Lemongrass doesn't so much welcome you as it does shrug and say "yeah we got space." To address the pho in the room-- this isn't the sort of place that would make a Vietnamese person weep with joy. My Viet friend says the menu defines authenticity loosely. I was craving pho and haven't ventured to Whitestone before so I decided to give this spot a try. The inside is very spacious and clean, be mindful of the low hanging lights though near the tables. Also I really like the water they served, it's infused with cucumber, mint and ginger. The food and drinks though. Wow. I started with the chicken and shrimp spring rolls. Perfectly crisp and I liked how they put a whole shrimp inside the roll. It's served with lettuce for some veggies and to cut down some of the salt and grease. The rolls were slightly too salty for my taste. I got the beef pho with mixed meat combo and it was so rich and delicious. I felt my soul healing after working out the whole day from the warmth of the broth. I also added on a bone marrow because my friend had recommended it and it was a great chunk of marrow. There a healthy amount of rice noodles and meat in the pho overall. Highly recommend this dish for a "I don't know what I want to eat" or a hangover meal. I also got the coconut water with pandan whip. I started to get drinks during meals because I wanted to treat myself to something I can't make, but will try to recreate at home. I live in NJ, so driving to Queens is a bit of a hassle (especially when there's traffic, which is pretty much all the time...) I was in the area with some friends so we figured we might as well eat dinner while we're here. One of the friends I was with had been to Ginger and Lemongrass before so he recommended that we go here. The place looks well decorated and has a nice ambiance. One thing to note is that I was seated right next to the baseboard heater, which I didn't realize at first so I was sweating but didn't know why I felt so hot... if you're sensitive to heat you might want to stay away from the seats along the wall by the door. Not sure which other walls the heater runs along. The service was pretty good. They were attentive and came to refill our water even though they also gave us a jug of water for the table so we could refill ourselves. Side note- the water is infused with things like ginger, lime, & cucumber, which I thought was cool. It tasted really good! The food was amazing. I ordered the yellow curry (mild) with chicken and white rice. The rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked. As the Beverage Queen of NY, I absolutely LOVE the ingredients that are in these cocktails- mangosteen juice, pandan, house-infused vodka with kaffir lime, black tea, and lemongrass, etc. I had the Bangkok Flower and the Jasmine Meadow, both $13, which I consider a steal given the creativity, both delicious. Ironically Good! We came here for a friend's birthday at the whitestone location. Reservation for a party of 8 was at 7: 00 PM. Upon seating, the waiter came by approximately 10 minutes later to take our drink order. 35 minutes later, the drinks finally came. Unfortunately, they messed up 3 drinks and even after that, it took them another 25 minutes to bring out new ones. When they came with the drinks, they told me they didn't have my drink. It took an hour to get that results, and change my drink. We are now approaching 8 PM, server has not taken our order yet, shortly after 8 PM, the another waiter came to take the order. Around 8:20 PM, the food came and to our surprise, it was absolutely delicious. This absolutely redeemed the poor service we experienced so far! Finally, for desert, they brought out a complementary birthday desert with a candle and apologized for the poor service. Verdict: Overall, this establishment offers a very nice ambience, and though we experienced poor service, they were able to redeem themselves with both the delicious food and the presentation of the desert which was absolutely delicious. I recently stumbled upon this little gem in Queens (and will hopefully be living near here soon!). I went with my parents who don't have Vietnamese very often. I ordered vegetarian yellow curry and a Thai tea. The curry was so fresh and delicious. The flavor was amazing. You could taste all of the spices, but it wasn't spicy. The veggies tasted fresh and still had a great crunch to them. My parents were raving about their food (pho and a Bahn mi). I am a vegetarian, and meat rarely looks tempting to me, but my moms Bahn Mi (Pork Belly) actually looked delicious. The space is SO cute and staff was really nice. I haven't been here for 5 years and this time I had a much better experience. As always, the vibes are nice with the tropical decorations and bright yellow lights. I came here with my friends and we all ordered very different things. I got the beef Pho with beef rare, beef brisket, and a bone marrow (which is what they are known for). The beef broth was very flavorful and the noodles were thin, not soggy, and overall very delicious! The beef combo it came with was good, but the bone marrow was even more flavorful. If you haven't had bone marrow, I think it's worth a try especially since not a lot of places have it. When you scoop the edibles off the bone, it's like a jelly-like texture. My friends ordered the curry pho, coconut Thai curry, and the shaken beef. The good thing is that they have 3 levels of spiciness for both the curry pho and Thai Coconut Curry for those who have different spicy tolerances. The shaken beef has a tad of sweetness to it, but was overall very good with potatoes and mushrooms. The only thing is there's never enough rice for these rice dishes! As for the drinks, I love frozen stuff and they have two kinds. I asked the server who was very knowledgeable and friendly for recommendations. He recommended the Frozen Pitaya Candy and said it's a bit sweeter than the other one and goes well with the food. The drink was strong! I usually don't feel tipsy after one drink, but I was a bit hazy after this one. Overall, it's very good but if you can't handle alcohol - go with the Pitaya refresher. There are also other non alcoholic drinks like Thai Foco Juice with flavor choices of lychee, coconut, and mangosteen. Will definitely be back on a cold day for the beef Pho and a non alcoholic drink this time! Everything is served in aesthetically pleasing dishware and drinkware. Lots of photo ops! read more

What a lovely place to go to. I had my first Pho in a long time. This was a great re-entry. It was light and flavorful. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The service was attentive and very nice. The aesthetics of the place is wonderful too. Try all the appetizers. read more

I can't tell you how much I love doing lunch/dinner all by myself. I get to pick the restaurant that I want to go to, order whatever I want off the menu, and I don't have to share anything with anyone. I don't dine by myself all the time but when I do it is a real treat. This was one of times that I got to check out Ginger and Lemongrass and solely experienced it myself. This place is absolutely adorable. They have ample outdoor seating, but inside is where it's at. Super cute and quaint, I really was excited to try out this place for lunch. I ordered the grilled salmon roll and the mint salad with lemon grass chicken. I also ordered The Blooming teapot because I have an obsession with tea. Overall my meal was decent. I wasn't wowed, as the salmon roll tasted a tiny bit fishy and the outer skin was a little bit to chewy for my taste. The salad had a little bit too much dressing which made it a bit on the soggy side but the flavors were there. My blooming tea was amazing and I was offered a to go cup for the rest of my tea that I did not finish. And although the food didn't blow me away, I have to say their service was impeccable. I think I have to come back and try one of their sandwiches or their Pho. I blame myself on this one as I probably didn't order the right thing. All in all a pretty solid place! read more

Neighborhood gem, everything on the menu is delicious. The Chive Dumplings are unique and so good! Spicy Lemongrass Coconut Pho with 5spice beef brisket is amazing. Love the Turmeric Fish and all their Banh Mi are packed and flavorful. I also appreciate the bottle of water with cucumber and Thai basil they leave on the table. read more

Food is authentic and I enjoy the ambiance of this place. Parking is hard to find. Price is reasonable and service is great. read more
