I was a big fan & came almost weekly - for many of the same reasons stated in other reviews. Just to update: they've updated the menu to increase the prices - lunch really shouldn't be that pricey! Plus, their servings are a perfect example of what stingy looks like.$9 soup should contain more than 3 pieces of shrimp and miniscule (frozen) squid. Micheal had screwed up my order not once, but twice! I've been coming to pho super 9 for a couple of years and it's my family's favorite spot. I stopped coming because the service hasn't been that great. I decided to come back and do a take out order and when I called it in, I had Michael who took the order and then repeated it back to me and then told me it will be ready in 20 minutes. I get there and tell him that I'm here to pick up my order and he said, what order? I said the order that I put in 20 mins ago... he said that he forgot to put it in. He said that he was busy and completely forgot about it, even though there was only two people there. I decided to try again tonight. Well, I got micheal again. He said that he packed everything himself and that it should be all good to go. I said great, gave him a tip and left. Well, I get to my house and he didn't pack the fish sauce that came with the bbq vermicelli. He charge me for an extra egg roll and didn't put it in there and he didn't pack the basil and bean sprouts that came with the Pho. I had to drive back and grab everything else. I'm in the service industry myself, and the way micheal handled everything just blew my mind. He said he had a long day in both incident. I just told him to own up to his mistake and double check everything and walked away. Micheal, we all have long days. I just got done working a 8 1/2 hours shift myself and wanted to pick up my food for me and my family. The last thing I wanted to do is drive back there from wake forest and pick up the rest of my food that you forgot. Double check your orders!! Not hard to do. You might even make more money! Clean restaurant, friendly service and the pho was served within 2 minutes of ordering. Good flavor to the broth, but not the depth of flavor I've experienced at the countless Pho establishments I grew up with in SoCal. But once all the goodies are added, it was excellent. I have my own rating for Pho based on how many times you have to stop and blow your nose. But I guess that depends on how heavy handed you get with the sriracha. Today was 2 out of 3 nose blows! My sisters and I came here for dinner today. This is a great place for pho! I always enjoy my food and come here often! The servers a kind, friendly and check up on you often, which I like. I always get the rare steak pho and split a pineapple fried rice with my sisters. There's nothing too special about the fried rice but something about it makes me order it every time. Their menu recently changed, and I was told that some menu items were taken off the menu. I'm glad they changed the menu, it looked nice and easy to read! This is my hands down favorite pho place in Raleigh. Their broth is AMAZING!!! I work right down the road and try to go as often as I get. I love their vermicelli bowl, I normally get the pork and spring roll combo and its delicious! They give you a good portion and you will def. be full afterwards. As far as appetizers their calamari was delicious and I LOVE THEIR BAHN MI. The Bahn Mi is like 4$ so I will often call in an order and pick it up. I get the combination one and the liver paste or whatever that they put on it is perfection. If you come here you have to get the Pho because it's the best in town, they give you plenty of beansprouts/mint/jalapenos and are super nice about giving you more if you need it. I love this place and try to go as often as possible. The only negative thing I have to say is I am not a fan of their bubble tea. I got the taro flavor and when I tasted it had a slight sour taste and because I have a sensitive stomach I threw it away. This could have been a bad batch. read more

I found out my hidden super power of invisibility. Came in on a Sun evening and it wasn't too busy. Got seated then proceeded to be ignored for 20min. Didn't even come by for drink order. Tried to make eye contact with the wait staff but nothing. Got up and asked for service from one of the waiters and was acknowledged only with a head shake. Sat back down and still nothing for another 10min. Heard another family sitting next to me complain about not being waited on also. However, I saw some people that came in after me already get their meals. So I would say the service was spotty and disorganized. Got up again and told one of the other waiters that I had been waiting for almost 30min. He said he would be right over but at this point I had enough and left. I've heard about this place from many of my friends and they were right when they said the food was expensive for what you get. The amount of pho you get for an X-large is the size you'd get a large at regular pho restaurants. Don't let the bowl deceive you; the bowl was an x-large, but the quantity of the food you get wasn't. Also, the flavor of the pho broth was very bland. The worst thing was the long wait for my food. Two couples came after my friends and I, and still got their orders before we even got our appetizers. This place gets two stars because the atmosphere and service is great. Bread wasn't toasted, barely any pickled veggies, no pate, skimpy protein and loads of butter. Only one that had any flavor was the bbq pork in just the meat itself. Not worth $4 at all. Another pho place in the Triangle? Hell yes, you know I'm there! =P A fellow yelper and I made our way over to Pho Super 9 for lunch and boy was it a treat. First thing I notice when I arrive is, "wow, it's pretty busy for 11:30am". About 75% of the restaurant was filled when I got there, making it hard to figure out if my friend had arrived yet. I couldn't find her, so I got us a table first. At first, everyone was quite attentive, asking if I wanted to order something to drink or an appetizer while I waited. I didn't want to order and food without my company present, so I just started with the Cafe Sua Da (Vietnamese Iced Coffee). Wow, I think PS9 is the first place in the Triangle where I've gotten Cafe Sua Da made in the traditional fashion (where they bring you the drip coffee over a glass cup filled with condensed milk on the bottom and an empty glass with ice for you to pour your coffee into once it's done dripping). Definitely authentic. And awesome. Anyway, moving on. Once my fellow yelper arrived, the restaurant had cleared out a bit and yet we couldn't get her a menu and after that, we had to actually flag down a waitress to take our order. It seemed they forgot about us in the corner. I ordered a bowl of pho with tai (thinly sliced beef) and meatballs figuring I should try the pho since it's a pho place. My friend ordered the Bun Bo Hue (Vietnamese Spicy Beef Noodle--and while the translated name makes it sound like it's a kind of pho, it isn't. Look it up!). My pho was great! The flavors were good and it wasn't overly sweet (in my opinion) as Pho Far East (though some people may actually prefer a sweeter broth, so it's up to you). The meats and veggies were fresh as well. Also, they brought out the proper vegetable for the Bun Bo Hue--shredded banana flower! I didn't try the Bun Bo Hue, but it smelled delicious and looked great. Prices here are the going rate for the Triangle area and PS9 offers three bowl sizes as well! I'll definitely be stopping by here again if I'm ever in the area. read more

But do read on for my somewhat experienced Thai Food experience here. My son (21 yrs old, I feel like I should say that or else you might be picturing a 6 year old or a kid in a high chair) and I went last Sunday because we miss great Thai food from California. So, we had to order so much!! Spring Rolls AND Summer Rolls, both great, but just primers for what we really came for, the Pho and a Banh Mi. They offered us a sample of the Crab Appetizer which I've seen pictured here (on toast), it was pretty yummy. Food came out a little slow, but no complaints here, I'm sure that is only because they take pride in making everything fresh, with no intention to rush people in and out, and it showed in taste and freshness and service. We shared a Pork Banh Mi and the roll was SO soft and warm. We were very happy with this, because Matthew makes them at home but we can never get a roll this perfect at home. And all of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. For the Pho I had the Rare sliced steak and he had the Well done steak, and it was oh so good. Matthew took some of his home, but because we were so full from the meal I couldn't dream of taking home what I had left in my bowl. But... I ended up sneaking some of his later that day and it was wonderful. Oh and our waitress was ADORABLE and so helpful. Don't be afraid to try Thai for the first time here, the Menu has lots of pictures (I like that) and our waitress was very helpful with any questions. Oh I had Vietnamese Coffee (YUM) and Matthew had a Thai Iced Tea but was disappointed because they were out of Whipping Cream as we were told up front, but he ordered it anyway and it wasn't that great, he said it was not very sweet. Not sure why because I think they used evaporated milk in it. In any case, it wasn't their usual recipe, so maybe we'll try it again next time. I ate too much to try the Avocado Smoothie but it is on my Bucket List. Next time we go back I want to try an Entree with Rice or Vermicelli. Having spent a good amount time both in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, I have been quite reluctant to solidly endorse any area pho joint as they have been more about selling the stuff rather than making it decent. The food: This place makes quite a good pho as their broth is very rich and they managed to keep the bean sprouts and herbs crispy. Another selling point here is their Vietnamese-style sandwiches. They use the same style bread that is served in Vietnam and have a wonderfully marinated choice of meats that can go on the sandwich. The best part is that they're only $3.50 each. That's a great deal! The decor: It's not the best, but you can tell they put some money in it. To me, this is a lunch spot rather than dinner. They sell beer and wine, but I'd be willing to bet they total for less than 1% of sales. I gave them four stars simply because their not the best in the Triangle (or even Raleigh), but they sell some quality pho. read more

The only reason I give 4 star is cause even on weekday lunch hour the service is super slow has happened multiple times to me. Took over 30 min to bring my food. I decided to give Pho Super 9 in Raleigh off of Capital Blvd. a try for lunch recently and I am glad I did! It was a cold day out so a bowl of Pho was definitely in order, and I also wanted to try a Bánh mi sandwich so I got both! (It would be nice if they offered a soup and half-sandwich combo for lunch. I didn't see it on the menu). Any-hoo, either the sandwich or the soup on its own would have been plenty for lunch, but I don't regret getting both, even if it did leave me stuffed to the gills at the end! The Bánh mi bread was fresh and delicious and I liked the flavor of my choice of sandwich meat (BBQ pork). I ordered the Pho with the slices of rare beef, and thought the beef lacked flavor, but I think I just prefer Pho without meat. Next time I will just order a meat-less Pho. Everything else about the Pho was very pleasing to me but I wouldn't exactly call myself a connoisseur when it comes to this Vietnamese staple. If you put three different bowls of Pho from three different restaurants in front of me, I would probably be hard-pressed to tell much difference. Having said that, I thought the broth was flavored well, plenty of noodles and plenty of side items available to enhance everything. I was happy with it! As the other Yelp reviews indicate, this place is nicely decorated, also clean and modern with a bar area and wine display above the bar. I guess it is fairly new or at least has been kept up well. I have been to two other Vietnamese restaurants in the Triangle (Pho 9N9 in Durham and Pho Far East in Raleigh), and would rank PS9 the nicest in decor and the cleanest of the three places. Service at PS9 was friendly and the waitress was prompt in bringing refills and checking up on me. Based on the food, décor, cleanliness and service I am giving PS9 four stars and would be interesting in returning to try other dishes. read more

Then had the rice with BBQ pork which was really good but should have asked for the over easy fried egg on it. We went on a Sunday evening, around 6:15pm. Walked in and there were a good amount of empty tables and we were made to wait about 5-6 minutes. Then i remembered they had help wanted signs on the front door, so i figured they didnt have enough staff there to handle everyone. it was semi crowded and they had a table of 12-14 people there. It took a while for them to take our order, and the food took a while to come out. I think they forgot our apps until we said something. we had some spring rolls and pho. all were OK. nothing to write home about, but its one of those spots you may go back to if you're in the area. They have TVs there as well. it would def. be a great place if they had more staff on hand to make everything flow well. read more

We have been going here for about 3 years off and on and for the most part it's been good but today...... sigh. It seems to have changed and not for the better. I ordered the lemongrass vermicelli with chicken. The veggies were way over cooked the carrots flopped over the bean sprouts were grey. It was lightly flavored and not what i was expected. We also had the shaken beef the meat was tough and had more onions than meat. The waitress neglected our drinks we had to get someone else to get us a refill. I like this place but it's inconsistent. It's always good when you eat in; however takeout is where things go astray. Takeout orders are not always right--I've learned to check before I leave. The quality and quantity of the food frequently differs with takeout vs. what you receive when you order the same thing whike dining in. When I ordered take out I got the combination Pho, which I imagine would have been better if I ate in, by the time I got home with everything it was lukewarm, and a bit strange tasting. I ate it but maybe Pho wasn't for me. The second time I dined in with a friend and ordered spring rolls and the combination Vermicelli noodle bowl. Everything was AMAZING. I enjoyed the appearance, the flavors and the presentation. I ate everything and was impressed with the bill. About $14 for an appetizer and entree that filled me up! When in for dinner with my gf and ordered two boba teas, one pho combo, one vegetarian pho, one BBQ pork banh mi, and one tofu banh mi. Boba teas came out first and the bubbles were complete mush. Absolutely overcooked. My gf got the strawberry bubble tea and said it tasted like generic strawberry syrup and not made with real strawberries. The phos came out pretty quickly and were pretty good. It was definitely better than most typical pho restaurants, but nothing amazing. Gf claims the vegetarian pho was one of the best vegetarian phos she's ever had. The kicker comes when we are both almost done with our phos and still don't have our banh mís. We ask two different servers and both say they will go check up on it and we never get a response. A third guy comes back and says sorry for the wait and brings back just the tofu banh mí and asks "oh did you order two of them or....???" Really? They said it'll take 5 more minutes for it to come out. When it finally does arrive, it's absolutely bland. Over saturated with butter for some reason, barely any pickled carrots and daikon, and an okay amount of meat. That's it. No pâté, no cucumber, no cilantro, no headcheese, no jalapeño, no kewpie mayo. Come for pho, not for banh mi or boba, and make sure you have lots of time to spare. read more

This place just opened last Sunday and while it was very busy, the food was fantastic! I ordered the Pho Combination which included tripe, rare steak, tendon, and slices of beef. The broth was perfectly flavored and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The decore was classy and clean. The service was slow because of being short-staffed, hopefully they've ironed out all the kinks. I e been coming here for years and have been consistently happy with my food but they seem to have gone downhill. Today I ordered bbq spring rolls which were fairly consistent to what I've had in the past. I also ordered a kids rice plate with bbq pork which is listed on their menu at $5.50. When I arrived to pick up, I stood at the counter for over 5 min before anyone came out of the back. I was then told my total was $16 and change (which should have been just under 11 by their menu prices listed online) when I questioned the price the cashier went to get someone else. This gentleman (maybe the manager?) came out and gave me the same price. I told him that couldn't possibly be right. He showed me the kids meal was listed at $7.99. Confused at this point I paid and went to my car but when I looked at the receipt I had been charged $10.99 for the kids meal and had to go back in again and the manager refunded the difference. I was slightly frustrated but no huge deal. That said, the $7.99 kids meal was 2-3 ounces of meat and a scoop of plain white rice. That's an absurd price for that amount of food and the prices on the menu listed on their website show a $2.50 less difference. I will give them another shot since I love the pho but I would not be willing to pay over $13 for the meal I had today. read more
