Found this hidden gem today. Food was excellent. Selection was superb. Flavors were amazing. The service was standard, friendly, welcoming, I was checked on often and my water kept full. Buyer beware! This is basically a takeout only place (lower overhead) and the prices are outrageous! We just got 4 small skewers (have to be small to fit in an 8 inch takeout container) of chicken satay for $11. Four dumplings were $8. Red curry is supposed to include your choice of chicken, pork or tofu - we chose chicken and they charged an extra $1 for chicken and $3 for a tiny box of brown rice, so one small container with barely any chicken was $22! Same story for a second dish - extra charges made that one $22 as well. The food has gone downhill and the prices have gone way up, so we won't be back. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Our experience was at the location at Stonehenge in Raleigh. The first issue we had were the appetizers. We ordered spring rolls and lettuce wraps. There were only two of us dining so I would've expected at least four spring rolls considering how small they were in size. The lettuce wraps blew my mind. It was a bowl filled with the mixture that would go in the lettuce wraps. As for the lettuce, it was a halved head of lettuce , set on the plate. The lettuce leaves had not even been separated, or at a minimum the lettuce wraps have been served assembled. One main dish were the drunken noodles with shrimp. The shrimp was an inedible and tasted like they had freezer burned. We brought it to the attention of the server and it was replaced with another dish of drunken noodles with chicken. Our second dish was flank steak, green beans in a basil chili sauce. There were no fresh green basil leaves in the dish. I found two very small basil leaves that were completely black. I believe first impressions should've been a flag. There were no customers upon our arrival and no customers upon leaving. We did complain to the server however nothing was comped and I did pay the full bill. There is something to be said when all of the dishes were left behind instead of taking them home. It was the worst meal I have had which cost $62.00. read more

This is our favorite place to eat in Raleigh. We drive two hours to eat here. We mainly order the cashew chicken and the orange duck, but even if we venture out onto other things, everything is wonderful. The pork shumai are great and delicate, the vegetarian eggrolls are fantastic, the sweet-and-sour is really good, even the house salad tastes good. Someday I'll venture and try a few other things, but when you drive two hours, I prefer to get what I already know, and I am just too satisfied. We do not order out, we always eat there, even though there are only two tables. Anyone who doesn't like Thaiphoon Bistro is either lying, jealous, or crazy. read more

Overall: Really solid food. Painful wait times. Pad Thai (3/5): Good flavor, though the ratio of items were off. Too many noodles and not enough fillings (meat/veggies) and sauce. Would venture for a different noodle dish or curry if we were to go back. Pad Ma Keur (4/5): Favorite dish of the night. Super flavorful and relatively light. Really appreciated the use of chinese eggplant, versus regular eggplant. Good with pork and with tofu. Added broccoli to give this dish a bit more texture. Would order again. Bonus: Order well in advance. Our 40 min wait turned into a 75 min wait, and we weren't the only ones there who had to wait ~2x beyond the time originally stated. This alone has left me uncertain as to whether we'll order from here again, which is a bummer as the food was really solid. Hope they get this right. read more

My overall experience here was awful. Disclaimer: I did order through uber eats (some stuff you just have to have at the restaurant). There was no flavor in either entree and I am no tofu expert but the golden triangle was also flavorless and the dipping sauce was mediocre at best. Thaiphoon Bistro delivered an incredible Thai meal to our front door - reminded us of our three years living in Bangkok . . . The Thai salad was exactly right - the dipping sauce for the satee was excellent - the tofu was just the right crispness - the fried rice had that special Thai fragrance and taste that no other fried rice in Southeast Asia duplicates - every dish we ordered was special. Went in to give them a try and I ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken lunch special. It comes with a salad and steamed rice. I will say that I did not enjoy the main dish. It was way too sweet for me. So happy Thaiphoon has opened on Creedmoor! I ordered takeout and my food was ready early (the grubhub estimated time for pickup isn't always reliable- call the restaurant directly to see if you can get your deliciousness early :) I ordered tom kha soup, som tum salad and Pad Prig Khing with chicken (all heat level hot). It was spicy and delicious- perfect for a cold evening. I'm looking forward to to trying more of their menu. read more

I was rushing to my yoga class at Corepower and upon arriving, I was locked out! (My fault for being late) I decided I wanted my trip to count so I explored the plaza to seek some comfort food. Watch the spice level - I can handle spicy food and ordered a mild and it was hot - I'd advise to call if this is an issue for you. So, so, so glad this location finally opened! The folks inside are so nice and very helpful. I was able to get one menu item tweaked super easily. Food turned out delicious. My whole family enjoyed, my 1 year old ate an entire spring roll. Kids meals are the perfect portion. I had the Hawaiian Stripper and it was fantastic! My wife ordered Khoa Soi and Massaman curry (for my daughter). Khoa Soi: Way too sweet for our taste. This is one dimensional...sweet. I do not get any of the wonderful explosion of flavors (dance in your mouth) herbs and spices that come with Thai cooking. Khoa Soi: Zanyu is better in my opinion. Massaman: Okay. This is a sweet peanut curry, however I find the balance of flavor is off. Too much galangal/gingergrass...overpowering flavor. I am not sure how this and other Thai/Malaysian restaurants are getting rave reviews. These are tad below average at best (on a good day). This is purely my opinion. read more

Orders pad Thai for pickup. The pictures look amazing. When I got home, the noodles were congealed. I had to cut them with a spoon to separate them. I don't know why the sauce is, but it's not authentic. It's more of a super sweet base with a load of gochuchang. It was truly gross. Also, they don't add vegetables like the photos. Mine was literally noodles and strips of beef. Thai food down here is not like the food I've had up north. I'm still on the hunt. read more

I primarily like noodle based dishes, like Pad See Ew or Drunkin' Noodle and Thaiphoon is fine to scratch the Thai food itch in a pinch but it's not amazing. read more

We decided to try the ghost kitchen at Flavor District. We ordered chicken lettuce wraps, satay, and chicken lo mein. The lettuce for the "wraps" couldn't be used to wrap anything. And the chicken was flavorless and cut into large, boiled pieces of chicken and there was a sauce at the bottom. The lo mein was congealed and had a rancid aftertaste. We refuse to believe that this is authentic Thai food. Never going back again. Try at your own risk. read more

One of the least authentic Thai restaurants I've ever tried. Ordered takeout this past Sunday and was extremely unimpressed. (I currently live in Queens, NY where there's a Mecca of albeit, much better, Thai restaurants there to compare.) Our order consisted of the Pra Ram (peanut curry special), Pad Thai, Som Tum (papaya salad), Pad See Ew, Pineapple Fried Rice, and the Hor Mok Talay. Every single dish was off. Portions were a little stingy. Pra Ram: they gave us two small a$$ sauce containers for the curry, and the rest was a handful of tofu (protein) and a ton of chopped up raw-ish veggies topped with a little bit of crumbled peanuts. Definitely NOT enough curry for this dish and we basically paid $13 for veggies. Pad Thai: nothing really special. It had a bit of a canned or jarred Pad Thai sauce taste to it. Som Tum: most Thai papaya salads are spicy-- this one had no hint of spice whatsoever. Nada. Just because we asked for Not Spicy for the rest of the entrees doesn't mean this salad had to be too. At least this dish (an APPETIZER), which was also the cheapest in our order, had the largest portion and was the most decent tasting out of all. Pad See Ew: not authentic. There was no basil to be seen and the wok essence was missing. Not saucy enough either. Tasted as of they just stir fried the noodles in a regular pan. Pineapple Fried Rice: pretty terrible. For $19 freaking bucks including shrimp, the veggies (carrots/squash) were very hard and raw still, and the rice itself was wayyyyyy too wet. It didn't have that typical fried rice consistency or wok essence. Not a big fan of squash in fried rice. Hor Mok Talay: the WORST. The portion size was the smallest-- it barely fit half of the container. Having paid $18 for this, we expected a lot more curry sauce and more seafood. Would never order here again-- I have an inkling the owners aren't Thai. Poor portion sizes and you definitely feel like you pay more for the carbs (noodles, rice) they give you than the actual protein and sauces. read more

Love peanut sauce? Definitely come here!! My usual is the tofu pad Thai with a side of peanut sauce to pour all over my food. The peanut sauce is so good I could *almost* just drink it! They just opened and it's more of a 'take out' place given it's very small. However, they are priced high comparatively to what others are charging around the area. It's great to have something different in that shopping center but I can't see many going there for a quick bite or for lunch when you're charging $12-$15/plate. I think they need to do $5-$8 lunch specials in order to survive. Outback prices are similar and with cheaper lunch prices. We went because we knew the food was decent based on their main restaurant on Glenwood and wanted to help a small business but I can't see us going often given it was $30 just for two of us. The place has potential and they have really nice people there. I just can't see it doing well long term with those prices and type of setting unless you have a craving taste for Thai food. Ok let me tell you a tale of a couple looking for ramen. Good ramen. A couple who watches YouTube and understands flavor profiles of Asia. Or so we thought. TB has introduced us to more flavors and just the uniqueness of Southern Asia. Absolutely delicious. We have had the pad Thai, the yellow curry with chicken , shumai and potstickers. Very disappointed by the reviews as I was hoping for authentic Thai food. Definitely not authentic at all. I ordered pad see ew and both did not have the right noodles. Same goes for drunken noodles. Usually dark soy sauce is used and it definitely tasted like frozen meals that would be bought at Trader Joe's. Their Thai iced teas were very watered down. The fried banana were old brown bananas wrapped in stale spring roll wrap. The rat icky rice for the mangoes were too hard. None of what I ordered was good. I feel like a Raleigh needs to do a lot better with their restaurants. read more
