TLDR: Typical NC Asian restaurant in Garner offering a variety of dishes for a reasonable price. I ordered pick up from here on a weekday afternoon. The online menu via Beyond is easy to use and clear. I arrived at the restaurant early and my order was ready about 5 minutes later. I chose hibachi shrimp with fried rice ($9.99), side salad ($2.99), and spring roll ($1.59). I didn't like the spring roll, flavor was off for me. The hibachi shrimp was okay. Not as much flavor as I thought it would have, however, it was filling and I enjoyed the vegetables. The side salad was great. Large, cheap, and fresh. Overall, the meal was filling and could easily be split into two meals. read more

This restaurant is located in a shopping plaza with several other businesses. We came during lunch and placed our order at the counter without a wait. The food is reasonably priced and our order was prepared quickly. We dined inside and sat at one of the booths. A fountain drink dispenser and multiple sauces were available near the drinks. I got the hibachi shrimp that was served with rice and veggies. The food was fresh and tasted good. My only complaint is that it could have used a little more seasoning. We were provided with a good portion size for the price. I would come back and try other food options. read more

So I have Only ordered food for pick up from this place. The hibachi is good and affordable. I like the Crab Rangoons, no sauce needed. I will say the one time I tried the Thai food specifically the Pad see ew it was terrible! There was no flavor. The beef was hibachi steak which is different. The noodles weren't the flat rice noodles that I'm used to in this particular dish. Should have stuck with what I knew was good, the hibachi. Spicy tuna roll was poorly rolled and flavor was really lacking. I would not get the sushi again. read more

Worst pad Thai I have ever had in my life. Very bland, I couldn't taste any sort of seasoning or sauce, just the vegetable juice from the veggies in it. The crab rangoons were ok, but they didn't serve it with any sort of red sauce, and when I asked they said they don't have any sweet and sour sauce. I don't recommend. read more

Front window had 5 star rating, but experience was anything but 5 star. Ordered a kids hibachi and green curry shrimp. Took 20 minutes for food to be ready. Multiple guests who came in after us ordered and left with food. The two people in kitchen seem to be a husband in wife appeared to be in some sort of yelling match back and forth. As a food critic this place was one of the worst places I've been to for friendly service and I arrived at this location around 7:39ish and the two people were very hostile towards me to order food for myself and my friends who accompanied me as I ordered the woman taking my order rolled her eyes at me for ordering food like isn't that your job ???as we sat down we had noticed that the woman was very rude to her only employee (I'm sure that's why the only have one ) yelling and tapping her very aggressively made the food and everything just off I'm getting off topic to rate the food it was a 3/10 sushi was dry and no flavor service was 0/10 we were the only once's in this restaurant at that time I wouldn't imagine how they service is when the place has a lunch rush read more

Meh. I don't know if all Sakuras are somehow connected, but we have two back home in Virginia, also numbered as this one is. The ones we have are excellent, portions are great and the food is flavorful. So, when my mom got the urge for Chinese, I suggested the pivot to Japanese. The woman on the phone took my order politely and my food was ready for take out when I arrived. However the chicken did not have a lot of flavor and was lacking that hibachi flavor I was craving. Likewise the Yum Yum sauce (called white sauce here) was a bit on the bland side too. This dish itself had an adequate amount of chicken but was sparse on veggies. Have ordered take out from Sakura 8 4-5 times. Each time it took much longer than anticipated for the food. We waited at least 20+ minutes. The food is quite bland, even the spicer items don't have any flavor. The 'tempura' veggies were covered in panko breadcrumbs which is not tempura batter. Will not be going back. Solid, clean, and to the point habachi. I'm visiting, but my friend works in the area. They do call ahead takeout and are always friendly and fast. Ordered the chicken shrimp and filet. Enjoyed my meal. Fresh broccoli and other wedges. If I lived here this would be a new regular place for me. read more

A must-have if you live in garner, I've been coming to this establishment since I was a freshman in high school (yes I've been coming here that long). The food is very good, especially for the price you pay they give you plenty of food in each order and their sushi is the best I have had for the price I pay for each roll. The service is great and they are very good at social distancing. I would recommend taking out here but they do have seating inside if you would like to stay. The food is not quick mainly because it is one couple and I assume their daughter. They made everything when it is ordered this is not fast food it's good food. read more

It's been a bit over three years since I've eaten here due to the unfriendly service and mediocre food from my last visit, but after being cooped up during the pandemic, I was ready for a change and hoped that Sakura 8 had changed (for the better) too. Things started off on a high note as the server taking orders was polite, friendly and outgoing. As we were leaving, she made a point to thank us and asked us to come back. Great! The food was another matter. My spicy hibachi chicken was not good. While the serving of chicken was reasonably sized, it had been chopped up into teeny, tiny pieces and cooked to death. It came with a few bits of overcooked zucchini and broccoli soaking in a puddle of liquid in the bottom of the styrofoam serving container. The dish was bland and not at all spicy, although a healthy dose of Sriracha and the other provided hot sauce took care of that problem. The huge serving of fried rice that accompanied the hibachi chicken was decent and large enough to serve two or even three people. While the service was much, much better, the food was worse during this visit to Sakura 8. If it wasn't for the much friendlier service, this would be a 1-star review. read more

Ordered takeout for the first time from this local eatery. Ordered a Miso Soup, a Spring Roll and a Chicken and Shrimp Pineapple Fried Rice dish. Absolutely loved every item ordered! In fact, the restaurant itself had a very fresh, newly refurbished appearance and could not have looked, smelled or felt any more clean and well maintained. The staff did a great job with packaging my food for travel with no spills or leaks. The food stayed fresh and hot. So no frustrations to report with that experience. The wait time from the time of placing the order to having the food ready was no more than 10 minutes, at most. Super convenient. Love that Garner is stepping up it's game with the quality of food, level of service, and diverse eatery options! It makes living here that much more enjoyable. read more

Decent for take out hibachi & priced decent. Really on the dry side. Thankfully I got some of the sauces to use for it. I got shrimp & steak- but there was also chicken in my meal. Got the seaweed salad which was so small- next time I'll get a roll instead. read more

This place is wildly good. I was thinking it would be your typical fast food hibachi place, which the service is very fast, but I got food that rivals places like kanki. Even the white sauce and ginger sauce are far better than anyone else's. If you blindfolded me and told me it was kanki or an expensive teppanyaki place I'd believe you. And the prices are crazy cheap. Filet mignon is actual filet cut, and delicious. Everything about this was superb even the veggies and rice. Would give 6 stars if I could. read more

What I liked: -I've had pad Thai from a lot a places and this was the first one that was spicy. I like spicy food so it didn't bother me but it might be a surprise for someone else. -Good portion of pad Thai with a lot of sauce. Pad Thai can be dry at times but there was enough sauce for all the noodles. -No bean sprouts. I don't think they add anything to the dish so I was happy not to have them. What a didn't like: -Chicken wasn't seasoned. It stood out because the rest of the dish was so flavorful! -I paid extra for more chicken and there were quite a few pieces of tofu in the mix. The tofu absorbed the flavor of the sauce better than in the chicken though! EDIT: After eating at another Thai place I realized they added tofu since I requested "no egg". I stand by the 4 stars due to the lack of flavor in the chicken. Overall, the dish was good. Would try it again maybe with all tofu or shrimp. Would also like to try a hibachi dish. read more

Leaving a review which I very rarely do after reading some of the appalling comments on here. I read someone say "I hope they only got a one year lease :)" You should be ashamed of yourself. You have one bad experience and decide to publicly shame a family-owned local establishment. I've eaten here about of 10 times over the last two months. The people here work VERY hard to serve food made by hand to a fairly busy small shop of hungry restaurant-goers. This is a no-frills local Asian dining establishment - if you're shocked that they use low quality eating utensils and boxes, you seriously need to manage your personal expectations and get a clue. The food here has generous portions of an extremely fair price. I could eat 50 of the Dream rolls in one sitting, and they're all made in front of my face by the same nice man each time I go there. I will continue to come back here to support a small family working extremely hard to make an honest living, making consistently good food for a bargain. If you're wondering if you should give this place a try, please give them a shot. read more

The portions are generous but the curry was watery and tasteless. The pineapple chicken was literally swimming in pineapple juice. It took several napkins just to clean up the mess. We didn't want to risk trying the sushi. It took a really long time to get our food even though we were the only ones in the restaurant when we ordered. Probably good for a long lunch break but I'd recommend going somewhere better for dinner. read more

I have eaten Thai food in Thailand and all over the United States and unfortunately this is the worst most flavorless Thai food I have ever had. Noodles were over cooked and extremely lacking in flavor and the Pad Thai did not even have a hint of peanut sauce flavor and really was tasteless except that they used spices to make it spicy to the taste. Pad See Ew also with no sauce, the wrong type of noodle with over cooked broccoli and meat. It was worse than even frozen Thai dishes I have purchased--really disappointing. I ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken and a spring roll. Traditionally, this dish is served with WIDE noodles, broccoli, egg, and a brown soy-based sauce. I got pad Thai noodles, zucchini, ONION (??) and the chicken was drier than cardboard. The chicken was cut up in cubes, had ABSOLUTELY no flavor, and super pale looking in color. The spring roll was soggy in the middle, as well. I was extremely disappointed in this dish. DON'T GO HERE. You'll be wasting your money. read more

I've ate at this place twice and I got the chicken teriyaki both times. The first time the chicken tasted slimy but I went late so I figured that was the reason. Visited a 2nd time and the chicken was the same! It's like the chicken is pre cooked then they just put some sauce on it, not good at all.
