Pretty good. It's pretty dead in here and we just ordered off of the tablet computer thing inside. We got a kids tenko chicken bowl which is basically teriyaki chicken and the tastiest of the three things we ordered. The shrimp is okay. I would skip it next time. The other chicken was pretty good too kinda similar to orange chicken or a general tso's kind of fried chicken balls. Decent. They give you a TON of hibachi rice but not much veg. The shrimp dish had the most generous amount of veggies. I can't put my finger on what the sauce is but I don't think it really adds anything to the meal. It's like a watery homemade mayo something. This was a first experience for me and it was a take out meal that I forgot to take photos of (I was hungry!) I ordered the yummy chicken bowl with medium heat. I felt the meal was delicious but lacked heat. The white sauce added a lot of flavor but when reheated the next day the chicken itself had little to no flavor. Pretty good place! I got hibachi shrimp for around $10 (ordered directly on their website) and the process was very easy. Food was ready in 15 minutes and pickup was simple. So, I didn't have a good experience here. I understand the young girl was probably a post covid hire but geez. First, I walked in and ordered yakisoba. I asked for a combo of steak, shrimp and scallops. She said she couldn't sell it like that so I settled for just shrimp. Figured it'd be as easy as a price upgrade but whatever. Shrimp was good but the noodles had an odd taste which needed to be drowned out with yum yum sauce. Maybe it was the overload of carrots, possibly bitter. Then, I asked if the iced tea was working. She said she didn't know but she would think so. I ordered an unsweet tea. It tasted horrific. I asked the girl for a new cup to get a soda and she said I needed to pay for a new cup. I kindly explained the tea didn't taste good and she insisted I buy another. I said, "your tea is bad, it tastes horrible." She turned and asked the cook if she could give me another one. He said yes so she did after a 3rd attempt. I got an obvious eye roll from the lady waiting for food as well. Food from other locations is what you would expect. Pretty solid place for fast food Japanese. A nice concise menu with your favorites, very fair prices, and reasonably fast. Best to call in still. I ordered the Tenno Chicken and Crab Rangoon. The Rangoons were small but cheap and tasted great. The chicken was a tasty and savory, and went well with the shrimp/white/yum-yum sauce. My only complaint was the fried rice was quite bland, but that can be easily over looked and also remedied by combining the sauce on your entree to your rice or adding any other sauce. read more

It just opened, I think. I ordered the wrong thing, I think. Tenko Japan has had some great Yelp reviews in their other locations, so I was looking forward to something good here. I was disappointed. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't memorable. So the sign says "now open" but I don't know how long it's been there. Perhaps it's because they just opened and are still getting into the routine. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. That's a lot of "perhaps'" but I can't reconcile the build up to the reality. Perhaps I shouldn't do that, either. I ordered the chicken bowl, the "Yummi" chicken bowl designated with the "spicy" label. Along with that I also ordered the crab rangoon. The chicken bowl was big for what I thought would be a small portion. I was okay with that. The broccoli and mushrooms were good, not overcooked and still held their flavor. The chicken was neither spicy nor good. It was dry and almost inedible. Not even the hot sauce, soy sauce, or even the mustard did anything to rescue it. The rice was ...well ... rice, so I can't find fault with it. Maybe the secret is to order from the hibachi menu or the sushi menu. The crab rangoon, probably the unhealthiest thing on the menu, was good. I guess the unhealthiest stuff is usually good because you know you shouldn't but do anyway. So despite the mixed results, Tenko Japan is an okay option for the Crossroads area. It's always good to have food choices when you've been spending your money shopping in the nearby stores. read more

This was my first trip here and I went with takeout- hibachi chicken and teriyaki chicken. Both were fantastic. The veggies were perfect and not over-cooked and the chicken was delicious. The restaurant is unassuming and looks like many other strip mall places, but the service was prompt and friendly and, again, that food was miles ahead of anything I have ever had in the area. Absolutely love the food here. The options for affordable Japanese food in Cary are a little more limited than I'd like, and I think Tenko is the best of the bunch. I've had Nakato Express, Hibachi Xpress, and Hibachi Blue over the years and while they're all pretty good, Tenko is the one I keep coming back to. Always a good choice. You get a lot for your money. Even the kids meals are large portions. I either get the hibachi chicken or the chicken and shrimp teriyaki and i never spend more than $9 and I'm able to get 2 meals off it. This place is legit. I'm very picky about where I get Japanese food from, but this place has certainly won me over. Before ordering, I asked the cashier how was the food, and if it was seasoned. Seasoning is everything to me. She confirmed with me that the food was legit. Trusting her judgement, I ordered the hibachi chicken. It comes with rice, onion, zucchini, and broccoli, for almost $7. A true bargain. My 9yr old and I go weekly and always have consistently good food served fast. We have the sushi each time and it's always been fresh. He gets a shrimp bowl and I get Hibachi chicken. Have never had an issue and the service is very friendly. My only complaint would is that rather than real brewed tea, they have that god awful fountain style that tastes like a chemical concoction. I was hoping we'd finally have a good hibachi place in the area, but I guess not. First impression was the sushi cooler next to the register -- it looked pretty scary. Discolored fish and beaten up avocado. I ordered chicken hibachi and a side salad; my wife got the steak, medium-rare, also with a side salad. The salad was pretty big at least, but some of the lettuce was brown, though I liked the ginger dressing. The fried rice was a little hard, like it'd been sitting there for a while. The steak was almost rare, but the veggies were overcooked. My chicken was OK but nothing special -- when I finally got it. They served my wife almost 10 minutes before me. I had to ask and they thought they'd already brought it to me. If it were fresh and served quick, it wouldn't be more than your average fast-food hibachi place. But with the service and old food, we're definitely not bothering to come back. read more

After delivery (extra), I only got one white sauce, white rice, and the food was a bit cold.
