This is the best Vietnamese food imo in the triangle! It's so flavorful, and fresh; the pho broth was amazing. They also have a few more unique Vietnamese pieces like salty lemonade. The service was fast and friendly and the portions were big for a good price. I will definitely come back here again!

| Overview + Our #1 rated pho in the Triangle NC + Authentic & fresh Vietnamese food + Excellent & fast customer service + Summer rolls tasted fresh - Bread of Banh Mi was hard - Vietnamese coffee was small for $5 - Space can be very limited during busy hours | Full Review Out of all the phos we've tried in the Southeast USA (or even in the world), Pho Far East's $17 Pho Dac Biet (combination pho with steak, brisket, tripe & meatball) is the best. My parents recommended this small Vietnamese restaurant in Capital Blvd., Raleigh about 5 years ago, and since then, my girl & I have been here in multiple times. One night, I even drove for 45 min. through the storm just to eat their special pho. The broth was just right: not too salty and not bland. Of course, just like with any pho, we usually add some hoisin sauce & siracha to enhance its flavor. The vermicelli noodles were well-cooked, and not soggy. A plate of sprouts and mint leaves were served on the side, and we added them all to the pho. The authentic flavor of the soup was served hot with a good amount of beef & noodles. Many other Vietnamese restaurants omit the tripe but Pho Far East's special pho puts a fine amount. Every spoonful of pho tasted delicious & healthy fresh. We usually get a bowl each of Pho Dac Biet with 1 order of Summer Rolls (2 pieces) that comes with peanut sauce for dipping, but this time, we only ordered 1 bowl, 1 order of Summer Rolls (20. Goi Cuon in the menu), 1 Bhan Mi Thit Nuong (pork Banh Mi), and 1 Vietnamese iced coffee. We shared all of them. The bowl of the pho was big enough for 2 to share but this is the kind that's worth ordering for just 1 person. The $7 Summer rolls (My girl's favorite Vietnamese appetizer) were medium-sized; we've seen larger & smaller ones in other restaurants. The cold ingredients (pork, shrimp, cucumber, basil & vermicelli wrapped in rice paper) tasted so fresh, and the amount of peanut sauce is just right for 2 pieces. The pork Banh Mi was our least favorite part of our latest order. While the grilled pork, daikon, cilantro, jalapeno, lemongrass & carrot tasted fresh, the French bread of this Vietnamese sandwich was too hard to chew. The $5 Vietnamese coffee was also not satisfying because of its small size. We'd rather make some at home. In my opinion, it lacked the creaminess we crave in a Vietnamese coffee. Our server's name was Daniel - he was friendly and provided excellent customer service. All the items in our order arrived surprisingly fast (less than 5 minutes) . [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our latest visit was Sunday afternoon, and although this Pho Far East can get crowded sometimes, it wasn't super busy this time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite the restaurant's small size, it looked well-managed with clean dining areas and bathrooms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pho Far East also serves Vietnamese rice dishes, but we've only tried one of them once before. If we wanted a good Vietnamese vermicelli plate, we rather go to Taste of Vietnamese in Morrisville. Pho Far East specializes in pho so that's the main reason we come here. | Overall Score: 4.5/5

Wow - this is the best Vietnamese food I've tried in the triangle so far. I ordered the bun thit nuong with the spring roll and it was delicious. The spring roll was perfectly crispy and flavorful, the pork was tender and paired perfectly with the fresh vegetables and rice noodles. It was such a refreshing, savory dish - I can't wait to come back and try some other items on their menu. Wait time during peak lunch hours on the weekend is definitely long - once you get seated, though, you'll get your food in a reasonable time. Highly recommend Pho Far East if you're looking for fantastic Vietnamese food!

Best Vietnamese restaurant in the triangle!!!! The pho is just another level of freshness and flavor. Everything was so flavorful and there are so many options! Way more than any other viet restaurant in the triangle!!! I highly recommend it!! This is my favorite Vietnamese spot. If you're reading this and love Vietnamese food, go ahead and pull in the parking lot. Very authentic, service has never disappointed me, and very clean. Can get busy on the weekends and it's not that big inside. Everything you expect from a pho restaurant and more. My favorite is the chicken pho of course :)

Still my go-to Pho spot. The menu is updated, but food still as good as ever. Been here many, many times and still the only thing I've ever ordered is the pho. Enormous bowl, hearty flavorful broth, big portion of steak, brisket, tripe and meatballs. Fresh basil and bean sprouts. How can you go wrong? Consistency is important and this place always was and continues to be great!

I love the food here! The food is very flavorful and this makes this one of my top restaurants to go to. In my first review, I mentioned how they were never refilling the water, no matter who I waived down. But since that review, they have really upped their A game. They always go around asking if people would love their drinks refilled, and even if they are not your server, they are very attentive to the tables. I can tell that they all work as a team here! The only complaint is that since they switched owners a while back, the pho isnt as flavorful. But it is still really good compared to other options out there in Raleigh. read more

PFE is worthy of 5 Stars because the food is amazing, the menu is diverse, and the service is friendly and fast. Nem Nuong Cuon are still a huge treat :0 with perfect flavors and texture. These rolls are SO GOOD! Bun Bo Hue (#57 on the menu) may be my new favorite and is a spicy option, although Pho Dac Biet (#31) is great when I don't feel like having something spicy. ____ (o . o) Soda Sua Hot Ga(#11) cream beverage is a perfect way to cool the palette, btw. Warm, satisfying and very filling Got the spring rolls 2 rolls for $7 and the steak and meatball pho $16. I would definitely come back but I think I would just get the rare steak pho cause the quality of the steak was delicious. Lots of parking in the lot. Boba and other drinks available. read more

One of my all time top pho spots in the area (besides my grandmas house). Granted - there arent many in the area but its still good. On my most recent visit, I ordered Goi Cuon as an appetizer and Pho Dac Biet as my entree. Although the space is small, there are many tables for seating and our group was seated promptly. The food came out very quickly as well, but I never felt rushed in any way. The service was very friendly, very prompt, and they were quick to bring out things we requested (such as an extra bowl and extra silverware). The food was excellent here. The pho broth had great flavor, the portion size was very generous, and the meats and toppings were all good quality and plentiful. The pricing was reasonable for what I got as well. In my opinion, this is probably one of the best places, if not the best place, to get pho in the Triangle area. read more

Pho Far East has been a long-time favorite of my family. Often we would swing by when we were in the area to get some quality Vietnamese food. Coming from California, there are fantastic Vietnamese restaurants everywhere. When we moved to NC, we were surprised by how hard it was to find a quality Vietnamese restaurant that serves great pho. Pho Far East is the one exception. Pho Far East delivers on all its dishes, leaving you satisfied regardless of what you order. What I like most about this place is that they don't skimp on the ingredients. There is plenty of noodle, meat, and vegetables in the bowl. The soup is delicate and well prepared, enough so that it doesn't overpower any of the individual ingredients. I can confidently say 5/5 stars, definitely give this place a try if you are in the area and looking for some great food. read more

Broth was pretty good--a tad bit salty and I feel like the flavor of the spices could have been stronger. But overall, still delicious & I enjoyed my meal. Not the biggest portion but still a good amount. Brisket was thin and tender, noodles were good. Prior to visiting Pho Far East, I wasn't a big fan of Pho. Well this place has completely changed my mind! The flavors of each dish blended together so well, the level of spice was perfection, and the menu selections made it difficult to narrow down what I wanted as you can see from my photos. The foods as simply delightful. Served hot and fresh from a more than pleasant and accommodating waitress, this in the cut restaurant will have you returning from Far west for more. On vacation hanging out with a bunch of Asian friends in NC, we had to get some Viet food at the local Pho place, so we came to Pho Far East! I love my Vietnamese Broken Rice dishes, so I got the #88 on the menu: Com Thit Nuong Bi Cha, Steamed rice with grilled pork, shredded pork skin, pork & egg quiche, and veggies . The presentation was great, everything laid out in a nice manner with colorful arrangements on the plate with the veggies, meat, and sauce! The dish was pretty tasty overall, good seasoning and flavor on the meat, it was a bit on the chewier side but it's not a big deal with this type of grilled meat. This is my go to for pho. I usually have the bun bo hue and it never disappoints. Their broth is infused with the right heat and not just added on to regular broth like other place. This makes the soup spicey but extremely flavorful. It's better than just tasting heat. Service is fast and friendly. read more

Whenever I come to Pho Far East, I always get their Bun Rieu. This delicious tomato based broth has crab meat, tofu, egg and vermicelli. It is so amazing, and I can't find it anywhere else! Great place for Pho and other Vietnamese dishes (rice dishes and bahn mi). This is probably our favorite restaurant in the Triangle and we have been numerous times even though we live in Durham. I love that the broth is exploding with flavor and doesn't need anything added to it. We also always get a bahn mi to go so that we can eat it later that day or the next day. Really Good Food - I was very pleasantly surprised on my first visit to Pho Far East. The service was quick and courteous, the portions were large, the prices were reasonable and the food was absolutely delicious. The Banh Canh Tom Thit ($14.39), Vietnamese udon noodles with shrimp and pork, was all you could ask for. The noodles were thick and tender, the broth bursting with flavor; and there was just enough shrimp and pork too make it interesting. I also like the side plate of fresh bean sprouts, fresh jalapèno slices and fresh Thai basil leaves - a great way to add some zest to an already great soup. We found Pho Far East about a year ago. Since then we've eaten here five or six times, and they always been great!! Service is friendly, quick, and responsive. The place is always clean. And the Pho DaC Biet (combination Pho) is delicious and fresh. Their broth is fragrant and rich, toppings are always fresh, and their noodles are cooked to the ideal consistency (no limp noodles, friends!). Oh, and they have traditional sate...Vietnamese chili oil. So I can kick up the spice as much as I like. It's a pleasure to find down home, no frills Pho that reminds me of the authentic bowls I found in Saigon. Pho Far East is our new go-to! Everything you want in a bowl, nothing you don't! read more

We ordered everything upfront: Banh Xeo (explicitly no shrimp due to a shellfish allergy), Cha Gio, Pho Tai, and the Chef Special. Somehow, not everything was entered correctly. The Banh Xeo arrived covered in shrimp. Allergy clearly stated. It was sent back immediately. We were told they could remake it, but it would "take a while because it takes a long time to make." Banh Xeo takes under 10 minutes in a properly run kitchen. We declined and assumed the rest of our meal would arrive promptly. It didn't. The egg rolls weren't just fried, they were fully baptized in oil. One bite and it felt like chewing on a sponge that lost a fight with the fryer. Then we watched tables seated at least 15 minutes after us receive their food before we did. When we asked about the remainder of our order, we were told it had "just been added" and would take a while. Pho taking 35+ minutes in a Vietnamese restaurant isn't high volume. It's disorganization. The Chef Special was decent. The pho, which should be the backbone of the menu, was underwhelming. Several tables around us had incorrect orders or long delays. The owner circulated, but instead of urgency or accountability, the energy felt inconvenienced. Here's the reality: great atmosphere can draw people in once. Food and leadership bring them back. If you're going because it looks trendy and buzzing, go in with eyes open. The aesthetic might be the star of the room, but the food should be.

For dessert I ordered Baklava Cheesecake (New York-style cheesecake with nuts and baklava filling) which was very nice and my mom ordered the Limoncello cake (lemon cake with lemon cream frosting) which was definitely the star of the show. If I'm back downtown I may try Taverna Agora again but will definitely avoid ordering the pork chop.

The space is a rather narrow one as another reviewer mentioned but worked for us. No complaints. Also, FWIW, I hear this establishment was once proclaimed the best Italian restaurant in the Triangle, but I haven't fact checked so take that with a grain of salt. Their outdoor seating looks nice but we were limited to indoor seating due to our party of 10 (on the large side for a restaurant this size).

My husband spilled an entire beer and we asked the guy who came to help wipe it up if we could get another. His response was a very snippy, "...that's not my responsibilty". No help at all. 4. While we were still deciding on drinks, someone came by and took away the drink menu. we asked for two more, they brought only one, then someone came by and took it again! Since we now couldn't get a waiters attention, I finally went to the station myself to get one. 5. The food : Brussels sprouts in sauce were placed in front of us with no serving utensil, we asked for extra roumelade for the Pickles & Peppers but it took so long to arrive that there was nothing left to dip in it, wrong plates were placed in front of us, hamburgers were WAY over cooked and super dry, sweet potato fries were very soggy, sushi was bland. The espresso caramel chocolate malt that we loved so much before had zero malt flavor and was pretty much melted by the time we got it. We asked for six spoons for the malt and they brought five. We couldn't get anyone's attention to get a sixth, so two of us shared (we were tired of going to the station to fetch things for ourselves). This was overall a really bad experience at a place we had previously thought was outstanding. Sad!

I was extremely disappointed in this place especially since they have so many good reviews. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because my husband is a really picky Pho eater and he gave it better ratings than anywhere else we have been here in Raleigh. I ordered the Chicken in Lemongrass and it was absolutely disgusting. I had 2 bites and pushed my plate away. The chicken tasted weird. The flavoring was off and it tasted like they didn't marinate it at all. I pulled little strands of white hair from it. I don't believe chicken has hair like the ones I pulled from it. I tried to take photos of it, but my iPhone camera couldn't make it out. I'm not really one to push my food aside, I would normally try to mask the horrible flavors with sauces, veggies, but the chickens flavor, texture and after-taste was unbearable. Everything I ordered was just not right. The pork in the fresh spring roll had a distinct flavor so I pulled it out and ate the shrimp with the lettuce and vermicelli noodles by itself. The Thai tea was entirely too sweet and had an after taste. I drink too much thai tea and know what I like, I didn't enjoy their Thai tea and I didn't even take it to go (I normally do). Overall I did not like this place. I'm one to give a place a second chance, but I can't with this place. There were too many things that I ordered from here that I hated so I will not be back. read more

The best Phó in Raleigh/Durham. Not quite as good as the Phó from my native DC, but very good. The broth is darker than the others in the area, with just a light touch of oil on the top. They are very heavy-handed with the spring onions (which could be good or bad, depending on your taste). Some days the bean sprouts are a little witty, but usually the veggie plate is well stacked, with lots of basil and jalepeños. The fried spring rolls are a bit different from the others in town, but it is because they appear to actually be hand-made, where many of the other shops are prefab. I have had a few other things off the menu, and they are all quite good, but I can't help myself from ordering Phó whenever I go. The place is very small and cozy, which means that sometimes the line is out the door. Word of warning on a cold day. When the front door opens, you will get a chill breeze, and there isn't much of anywhere to get away from it, as the place is very small. But the service is pretty good, and the food keeps me coming back over and over again. read more

Nectar of the Gods I'm a Hu Tieu (seafood pho) aficionado having never even tried another type of the soup. I rank Pho Far East at the top of the heap in the Triangle. Their broth is what sets them apart; complex with myriad subtle flavours dancing about the palate with each slurpy sip. I also like that they offer the option of clear noodles (the traditional paring to this style pho) in addition to the more common rice noodles. Staff is a bit reserved even with familiar faces so don't expect any hugs. The strip mall that PFE is wedged into is a sorta sketchy; keep your head on a swivel when coming and going from this exceptional establishment. read more

The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because I feel the portion size can vary a little too much when we get take out. I am addicted to the pho. I am also I huge fan of their crepes...Vietnamese crepes are very different from French, so they may not be what you expect but they are certainly delicious. Service is always friendly and food is affordable and quickly prepared. read more

Very disappointed. I'm not Vietnamese but never had such meh experience in any Vietnamese diner. I love a good pho, we are fans of Vietnamese cuisine but this place is a no brainer to come back or not. Waste of time. read more
