    Pho - Vietnamese Noodle Soup
    Allison W.

We've walked by Anise Pho multiple times and always noticed a good crowd inside, so on a chilly spring night we decided to stop in for dinner. We ordered spring rolls and two bowls of pho. The service was quick and our food came out in about 15 minutes. The pho was very good, and I appreciated the side plate of basil, jalapeños, and lime so that you can customize the spice and flavor. There was a constant stream of to-go orders being placed and picked up, so this would also be a great takeout option!

I ordered takeout. This place is in a pretty hip area where you have to look around for parking, but it is nicer inside than I thought, and had seating outdoors as well. I don't recall ever having found a good spot for Vietnamese in the area; what drew me here is the option to order explicitly labeled vegan dishes. Online ordering gives a fair level of detail on this. I ate most of it later, but it was fresh and ready quickly as is typical for the cuisine. Their lemongrass tofu was on the salty side, but let no one say that lemongrass is anything other than a mouthwatering plant when cooked right. The dumplings were fried and more crisp than I would have liked, but fine enough. The place also had a substantial beverage menu, and had I not already indulged in bubble tea, one would surely have been on my order.

Kinda late review, but this was my first time trying Vietnamese food, and we enjoyed almost everything. I've had better peanut sauce, but the spring rolls were great. The bun was delicious, and the carrots added a nice crunch. I loved the crispy tofu! I got the dry egg noodles, but they were too soft--I prefer chewy noodles for that satisfying bite. My brother got the Pho and he said his tasted great. Oh, and I wouldn't recommend their matcha

This place has a nice chill vibe and a very reasonably price lunch Pho that comes with a soda. The portion of the soup was huge especially once you consider the 11.99 price tag (including soda). They were slammed today at lunch so this is obviously a very popular place. I sat at the bar and received very good service.

Ambiance - casual spot, great for lunch/brunch, clean restaurant Service - staff was super nice and food came out fairly quickly Food - really authentic pho spot, rich broth, and I love that their lunch special came with a soft drink

We are so glad we found Anise Pho--it's a wonderful spot with a modern yet cozy vibe that makes dining here such a pleasure! Even though we weren't very hungry, we decided to try a vegan pho and a tofu banh mi, and both dishes were fantastic. The pho broth was rich, flavorful, and comforting, with noodles that had just the right texture--perfectly balanced and satisfying. The tofu banh mi was another highlight: crispy on the outside, soft inside, and filled with deliciously seasoned tofu. You can customize the flavor even more with sauces like hoisin or spicy chili, which made it extra fun. Beyond the food, the staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, which added to the whole experience. This is definitely a spot we'd love to come back to, and it's a must-visit for anyone looking for tasty plant-based options in Raleigh. Cheers!

This pho spot in the middle of downtown was an amazing option for a cold night in the city. The vibes are great, and the service was top notch. I LOVED the bubble tea smoothies which are always fun and freshly made. I had the traditional pho beef soup and it was hot and tasty and a very generous portion. Can't wait to go back!

this is the first vietnamese restaurant i tried in raleigh and it was great! we ordered pho dac biet (special combo), pho ga (chicken), and fried tofu. or food came out within 10 minutes of ordering and our server was friendly and professional. the beef pho was flavorful and aromatic. it was a generous portion for $16. otherwise $14 for one protein choice. the chicken pho was just okay for me. not as flavorful as the beef pho. the fried tofu was a great appetizer. lots of tofu for only $5. the restaurant is on the small side but it's a nice little hidden gem in downtown! would definitely come back in the future!

Was recommended this place by a local and i loved it. Pho was delicious, broth was elite and the open concept of the restaurant really sealed the deal. Would definitely be back

Oh my gosh where to start. We were visiting NC for the birth of our granddaughter on 1/13/2025. This was the day before at the downtown location. We were greeted promptly and shown to our table. We ordered the potstickers to begin which arrived promptly and were so delicious. We each ordered. I had a bahn mi (chicken), daughter pork bahn mi, her husband had the Pho special combo beef and my husband had the bun salad noodle bowl. This is one of the best Vietnamese Restaurants we have been to in ages. The restaurant is clean, service was amazing and ambience 4 stars. Located in downtown Raleigh with easy parking on the street. Absolutely go with confidence

Craving something lighter, we dropped by Anise Pho for some Vietnamese comfort food. Usually you don't think of Raleigh as a place for Vietnamese food, but Anise pho delivers great value, authentic, and tasty pho and noodle bowls. The pho (especially the soup) was good and heartwarming. The noodle salad bowls had generous amounts of meat and vegetables. They gave enough fish sauce for the noodle salad bowl, and the egg rolls in the combo noodle salad bowl were a great textural complement to the noodle bowl. A solid pho spot!

Anise Pho is a wonderful restaurant in downtown Raleigh. They have vegan friendly pho, which is packed with veggies and loads of tofu. It's so rare to find vegan tofu and it tasted amazing. I also tried the mango bubble tea smoothie which was delicious as well. Overall this is a great restaurant definitely worth visiting if you're in the area.

We are pho lovers in our house. My husband and I went out for lunch and found this place. It had great reviews. It's a cute little restaurant in a cute area of town. They played good music, turned tables quickly. The broth is always a sure indication that the cook knows what they are doing. It was amazing. I was full and still wanted to drink every last bit of the bowl. We had the pork spring rolls as well. I got the rare beef pho. So good. You must try it out.

We were seated right away, the server was super fun and friendly. There are for sure regulars that come here. The server knew a lot of people by name, for pick up orders and sitting inside. The Pho is for sure the best thing on the menu. If I would have only had the Pho it would have been a five star experience. I however had the combination and bbq chicken Banh mi Sandwiches and the shrimp spring rolls. The spring roll was crispy on the outside but still frozen on the inside. They remade it and the outside tasted like burnt oil and the inside was still cold. The Banh mi Sandwiches were full of super fresh veggies, I loved that! The downside is the combination one had no Mayo so I had to ask for some. The other downside was that the bbq chicken one had no sauce at all and very little chicken. Again, the veggies were really crunchy and fresh which I loved. Overall I would for sure go back for the Pho, it was delicious. One of the best broths I've had at a Pho spot.

In the back, I did see after ordering a few without their masks on (if that's something you need to take in consideration, then take as needed). They woman that took my order, washed her hands and gave me a menu. She wanted to know if there was anything in particular I was looking for and if I would be dinning in or take out (if you do take-out, they ask that you make your order and then return to your car to await for the food). I explained I just wanted something to go and from there I looked over the menu. When I asked about how some of the items were prepared, she quickly explained and never gave any attitude or anything about my many questions. From my questions, she gathered that I wanted something along the lines of vegetarian and suggested about four different dishes that I might like. Since I wasn't tooooo hungry, I went with the Nem Chay Cuốn Bbq Vegi Spring Rolls (2): Soft rice paper wrapped around bbq Vegi, & lettuce, served with house special sauce. Total: $5.41 What a treat! These were so fresh and tasty! Great mixture of herbs, noodles, and tofu. Nothing was too overwhelming - all just right! The dipping sauce!!?! I could drink it (well, maybe just use it on MORE rolls!). From what I gathered from my visit, it was a good spot for something simple. I do have friend that comes here every time they come to town to order their shrimp fried rice - they state it is amazing. For starters, we had the crispy chicken wings, spring rolls with veggies, and the lettuce wraps. We all enjoyed the chicken wings so much that we got a second order of them. I enjoyed the spring rolls much more than the lettuce wraps as they had more flavor to them. For dinner, we shared an order of the Manda Amphone's Curry and the chicken pad thai. I originally did not expect to be blown away by the pad thai - boy, was I wrong. This is hands down the best pad thai I have ever had. If you love pad thai, you need to try theirs.
