New pho restaurant selection for the evening. I ordered the usual vegan pho with tofu. This was great pho with all the typical veggies and perfect vegan broth with added tofu. Parking was easy right out front with no wait time. If you want a Vietnamese restaurant with quality taste and great food, this is a great choice. read more

We walked to Anise Pho from our AirBNB in downtown Raleigh on a cold night. I'm glad we walked, because finding parking would have been tough- and probably would've resulted in us walking just as far. I like Vietnamese food, but the options are limited where I live- and the options for vegetarians are even MORE limited at most Vietnamese spots. This spot is different- they have a whole page of vegan options on the back of the menu. My vegan pho with tofu was wonderful, and I loved the kick from the chili oil. I also liked adding the pho toppings, and they brought us extra bean sprouts since my husband and I both love them. I didn't have anything to drink, but all of the drinks were super reasonably priced. My husband had a beer. The bar has everything you could want to drink as well as mocktails. The portions are large, and when we got to-go containers, the employees even brought us plastic bags to pack each container in, so nothing leaked on our walk home. That was a nice touch and well appreciated. My husband got a bahn mi for later, and it was also packaged well for a to-go item. Anise is a great choice for pho or other Vietnamese foods in Raleigh, and if I lived nearby, I'd be a regular here and try everything on the vegan menu. read more

We've walked by Anise Pho multiple times and always noticed a good crowd inside, so on a chilly spring night we decided to stop in for dinner. We ordered spring rolls and two bowls of pho. The service was quick and our food came out in about 15 minutes. The pho was very good, and I appreciated the side plate of basil, jalapeños, and lime so that you can customize the spice and flavor. There was a constant stream of to-go orders being placed and picked up, so this would also be a great takeout option! read more

I love the love shrimp baos. The shrimp rolls is good, tooo with the peanut sauce. I have noticed it depends when you go or order because sometimes they can be skimpy. I had the shrimp pho it was ok very bland to me. read more

I ordered takeout. This place is in a pretty hip area where you have to look around for parking, but it is nicer inside than I thought, and had seating outdoors as well. I don't recall ever having found a good spot for Vietnamese in the area; what drew me here is the option to order explicitly labeled vegan dishes. Online ordering gives a fair level of detail on this. I ate most of it later, but it was fresh and ready quickly as is typical for the cuisine. Their lemongrass tofu was on the salty side, but let no one say that lemongrass is anything other than a mouthwatering plant when cooked right. The dumplings were fried and more crisp than I would have liked, but fine enough. The place also had a substantial beverage menu, and had I not already indulged in bubble tea, one would surely have been on my order. read more

This place has a nice chill vibe and a very reasonably price lunch Pho that comes with a soda. The portion of the soup was huge especially once you consider the 11.99 price tag (including soda). They were slammed today at lunch so this is obviously a very popular place. I sat at the bar and received very good service. read more

This place was pretty delicious for its food, but the service was definitely lacking. It's a small venue, and the staff can see everyone from the center of the room. Even so, they forgot to make my smoothie despite reminding them multiple times that I had ordered it. They apologized and offered a free refill. Also, I noticed a strand of hair in my food. After bringing this to their attention, they took my plate back to the kitchen and instead of returning with a new plate altogether, they only replaced the item that had hair in it, which would not have been a problem, except it took so long that the rest of my plate was now cold. read more

Omg, first my first pho experience, it was AMAZING! The service was good and fast. Great quality pho!

Kinda late review, but this was my first time trying Vietnamese food, and we enjoyed almost everything. I've had better peanut sauce, but the spring rolls were great. The bun was delicious, and the carrots added a nice crunch. I loved the crispy tofu! I got the dry egg noodles, but they were too soft--I prefer chewy noodles for that satisfying bite. My brother got the Pho and he said his tasted great. Oh, and I wouldn't recommend their matcha read more

We are so glad we found Anise Pho--it's a wonderful spot with a modern yet cozy vibe that makes dining here such a pleasure! Even though we weren't very hungry, we decided to try a vegan pho and a tofu banh mi, and both dishes were fantastic. The pho broth was rich, flavorful, and comforting, with noodles that had just the right texture--perfectly balanced and satisfying. The tofu banh mi was another highlight: crispy on the outside, soft inside, and filled with deliciously seasoned tofu. You can customize the flavor even more with sauces like hoisin or spicy chili, which made it extra fun. Beyond the food, the staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, which added to the whole experience. This is definitely a spot we'd love to come back to, and it's a must-visit for anyone looking for tasty plant-based options in Raleigh. Cheers! read more

This pho spot in the middle of downtown was an amazing option for a cold night in the city. The vibes are great, and the service was top notch. I LOVED the bubble tea smoothies which are always fun and freshly made. I had the traditional pho beef soup and it was hot and tasty and a very generous portion. Can't wait to go back! read more

this is the first vietnamese restaurant i tried in raleigh and it was great! we ordered pho dac biet (special combo), pho ga (chicken), and fried tofu. or food came out within 10 minutes of ordering and our server was friendly and professional. the beef pho was flavorful and aromatic. it was a generous portion for $16. otherwise $14 for one protein choice. the chicken pho was just okay for me. not as flavorful as the beef pho. the fried tofu was a great appetizer. lots of tofu for only $5. the restaurant is on the small side but it's a nice little hidden gem in downtown! would definitely come back in the future! read more

Oh my gosh where to start. We were visiting NC for the birth of our granddaughter on 1/13/2025. This was the day before at the downtown location. We were greeted promptly and shown to our table. We ordered the potstickers to begin which arrived promptly and were so delicious. We each ordered. I had a bahn mi (chicken), daughter pork bahn mi, her husband had the Pho special combo beef and my husband had the bun salad noodle bowl. This is one of the best Vietnamese Restaurants we have been to in ages. The restaurant is clean, service was amazing and ambience 4 stars. Located in downtown Raleigh with easy parking on the street. Craving something lighter, we dropped by Anise Pho for some Vietnamese comfort food. Usually you don't think of Raleigh as a place for Vietnamese food, but Anise pho delivers great value, authentic, and tasty pho and noodle bowls. The pho (especially the soup) was good and heartwarming. The noodle salad bowls had generous amounts of meat and vegetables. They gave enough fish sauce for the noodle salad bowl, and the egg rolls in the combo noodle salad bowl were a great textural complement to the noodle bowl. A solid pho spot! read more

Everything is soo soo good. I always get the bah mi and bao buns. Highly recommend! Fast and friendly service.

I've now ordered Anise Pho quite a few times for delivery! I will say that every time the food arrives hot and well packaged. My go to is the pho. My husband always goes for the noodle bowl with bbq pork. Both are excellent options! I always want to try other things when I order, but I just gravitate towards those old favorites. Highly recommend as a great delivery option. read more

We are pho lovers in our house. My husband and I went out for lunch and found this place. It had great reviews. It's a cute little restaurant in a cute area of town. They played good music, turned tables quickly. The broth is always a sure indication that the cook knows what they are doing. It was amazing. I was full and still wanted to drink every last bit of the bowl. We had the pork spring rolls as well. I got the rare beef pho. So good. You must try it out. read more

My wife liked the shrimp pho but I had the lemongrass beef and I couldn't taste any lemongrass.

Food was delicious as always. The service however was really lacking. I'm not sure if our server was just having a bad day but she was cold & rude. She barely checked on us throughout the meal and we had to go inside multiple times to get what we needed from her. Think it might be my last time at Anise Pho. read more

Ordered take out for a brisket pho & a spicy beef soup. Both were amazing! They packed our order with such care & made sure to give us plenty of sauces and toppings for our meals. Terrible. We decided to try a different place than our beloved Midtown Pho - what a mistake. The fresh rolls were bizarrely dark and flavorless, my combo vermicelli was inedible. Of course the noodles are never warm but the "bbq pork" and shrimp were not only flavorless but tasted like they'd been recently taken out of refrigeration. They didn't offer a classic ban mi and the French fries were again room temp and not fresh. This was at 5:30 on a Saturday so no excuse that it was at an off-time. read more

Where's the Flavor?! Super disappointed. I ordered the bánh mì shrimp spring rolls, a side of pho broth, and the house fries. Honestly, everything was just bland. The broth had no depth, the pickled veggies in the bánh mì were flavorless, and the only thing with any real taste was the chipotle mayo--too bad the fries it came with were soggy and limp (except for a few burnt ones). The peanut sauce for the spring rolls? Tasted like someone just scooped Jif out of the jar and called it a day. Where were the usual flavors--soy, hoisin, garlic, anything? Vietnamese food is usually bold and packed with flavor, but this felt like a watered-down version too scared to actually season anything. Total letdown. Are people of Raleigh afraid of seasoning? read more

Service here was great & food was very good. Great Pho & other dishes as well. Dumplings (gyoza-type) available in veggie, pork or shrimp which you can get steamed or fried (I'm the one with an 8-yr olds palate). Pho served with fresh lime & basil, broth was very tasty, noodles perfectly done. We went at 4-4:30 on a Friday and was perfect timing (not busy yet). Parking here is hard as it's all on-street so you may have to drive around the block. *download the Passport parking app on the way to save time & pay easier!! read more

What happened? This place was always great! I've been coming here for years. Now they put the condiment packs and garnishes in with the meat and noodles. I don't want nasty sauce packets touching my food. Barely any noodles and they removed the bone from the beef short rib. The whole point of the rib is to have a bone to gnaw on. Last time they just packaged it separate. Not worth the $23. The green tea cheesecake was disappointing...it tasted like play doh. read more

As someone visiting from Dallas with lots of Vietnamese restaurants located nearby, I found the pho here to be okay. I love strong spices in my broth, and the pho here didn't reach my preferences. Raleigh has very comforting Pho! Review is based on GrubHub order and delivery. While visiting the area, we ordered delivery through GrubHub which was easy. We timed the order perfectly once we finished a day of work to where we stayed at the hotel. Selecting from the menu was quick and appreciated the selection options under each food item. Notes can also be added. GrubHub service fulfilled the order as indicated. The tofu spring rolls with the peanut sauce was so light and very delicious. The vegan pho was flavored to perfection. I loved all the veggies plus of course the basil and bean sprouts. Overall a very comforting and enjoyable meal. read more

The food is great! Staff are nice but slow to clean up a table & take dishes away. Great location.

This is the best pho I've had anywhere on the east coast. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is a vibe and the food is incredible.

I've confirmed that pho isn't something I love but even for me, their food was tasty. They serve generous portions also. A Friday night gets very busy there and there were only two servers but otherwise, a flawless visit. read more
