Great portion and quality for what you pay. I had the grilled pork rice noodle and it was so flavorful. The rice noodle had a spring roll (fried pork) cut up into small bite size pieces. I usually do not enjoy fried spring rolls, but this one was different. It's more like a pork sausage instead of various vegetables and glass noodles wrapped. After finishing strapping the boxed load on top of my (motor)vehicle, I motored to visit historic downtown Raleigh, then returned to the now-open restaurant. I got the vegetable pho and there were literally barely any veggies in it and the ones that were in it didn't taste good. Awful. Just awful. I came here for lunch with my family on a Saturday. Immediately upon walking in, the smell of stale cigarette smoke hits you, like staying in a non-smoking hotel room where a previous guest smoked anyway and the hotel did a poor job of trying to air it out. This smell is probably coming from the sweepstakes parlor next door, so while it's not really Pho Saigon's fault and maybe they can't do anything about it, but it still sucks. We were greeted promptly, and offered any table in the empty restaurant. Empty on Saturday at lunch. Bad sign number two, but by this point we were committed. I opened up the menu and was excited to see a large number of Vietnamese dishes, including Bún bò Huế which I had been meaning to try. We ordered that, along with Pho and spring rolls. The food came out quickly, and that's where things went downhill. They first brought out vegetables to accompany the soups, but they did not look fresh. The greens were turning brown in areas and the bean sprouts were old. I did not enjoy the Bún bò Huế, as it had a fishy or slightly rotten flavor and smell, but maybe that's how it's supposed to taste. However, the Pho and fried spring rolls were also terrible. The Pho broth was bland, and the beef in it was overcooked and rubbery. The spring rolls had the texture of a sausage wrapped in dough, as another review noted. Everything just tasted ... off. We usually finish even mediocre meals when we eat out, but at some point we realized that we would pay for the pleasure of not eating this food. We paid and left. This is quite possibly the worst restaurant experience I've had in a while. We went in on a Tuesday night and there were a few tables chatting away. The service was friendly and food came out fast. The menu consists mostly of pho, rice bowls, and noodles bowls. If you aren't looking for carbs then this might not be the space for you. I got the meatball pho and thought it was quite tasty. It took a little doctoring up and it was perfect. The classic beef pho tai had that amazing broth, perfectly al dente noodles and tender beef slices. There wasn't a drop left! We also ordered 2 Banh Mi sandwiches, pork and beef. Both were served warm on toasted baguettes. The pork was the better one, nicely grilled and flavorful. The beef was sautéed with pate so it was too moist and soft for me, sort of like stew meat. But it was tasty. The duck noodle soup is not on the printed menu so you have to request it but it is a home run - delicious, crispy, flavorful and satisfying. While the duck is fried instead of being just roasted, the Hong Kong style noodles pair perfectly with it. A winner! Saigon Pho is casual but clean, and you can order the pho in small, med, or large sizes. Service was great and our water was refilled. If you like pho definitely come eat here!! read more

Possibly the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I've had good, great, even mediocre pho before. This pho was, BY FAR, the worst I've ever had. I barely touched it and sure as hell didn't take any of it to go. Broth was flavorless; beef was so overcooked, tough, and tasteless; accompanying veggies and herbs were all brown and rotting (lime, basil, jalapeños, bean sprouts). A brown slice of lime was floating in the water served to me and made the water taste terrible. The fried "spring rolls" were terrible sausages wrapped in dough. My young kids wouldn't even eat them. The restaurant smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The prices were high (especially considering how truly terrible and old the food was). The waitress was fine, I guess, but not especially friendly and... she didn't take a hint: almost none of the food we ordered was eaten... maybe this is a red flag? I've been here 8 times in the last two months. I've eaten at most of the Vietnamese restaurants in the Triangle area and Saigon Pho is by far the best. I've had their pho dac biet, bun thit nuong, bun bo hue, grilled pork banh mi, braised duck noodle soup and their roasted duck noodle soup. Everything was very good but the roasted duck noodle soup was my favorite (I love duck). The pho broth and duck noodle soup were very savory with the perfect balance. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because my daughter said the chicken was kind of bland. Other than that the food was good and fixed my craving for pho and summer rolls. The staff wore masks and they are accepting dine in services. I ordered our food to go and it was ready within 10-15 minutes. If There is something you do not like they are willing to accommodate you which is always a plus. I ordered the seafood pho, chicken pho and summer rolls. The food was cooked to order and was warm when I got home which was about a 25 minute drive. I wasn't expecting it to be piping hot but I was pleased with the portion size. My daughter ate some of hers but as stated she mentioned the chicken was bland but she ate the broth, noodles and "fixings". I ate my summer rolls which were delicious. The seafood pho was also delicious once I added my spices and sauces to make it spicy. The portions are plenty as I had enough for leftovers the next day. The staff was very friendly and pleasant.
