I came here for brunch with my boyfriend to satisfy my pho cravings. It wasn't the best pho I had because the broth wasn't that flavorful compared to the other pho places I've tried, but it did the job. My boyfriend got the bo kho (beef stew) dish, and it tasted different than what I'm used to, but still decent. Didn't get what i ordered! I work across the street and normally eat in. Today was especially busy for me so i stopped by and ordered to go. I ordered the kids Pho since i don't eat very much. It comes with a small drink and an egg roll and a very small bowl of Pho which is more than what i need to eat for lunch. Service was fine and it took about 7 min to get my good. They were are satisfactory, but if it's your first time here I would recommend the house special pho for a variety of meat in your bowl. Extra star for the very spacious restaurant and service is usually prompt when you get seated to your order. Although I gave it an average rating, I'm still glad there is an affordable Vietnamese pho noodle house in Austin and their menu is pretty extensive for every taste bud. I've had Pho all over Austin and New York and this is literally the best I've ever had! I am gluten intolerant and always get the number 19 pho and to date have never had any symptoms since pho noodles are made from rice flour! Service is incredibly fast and it is phenomenally delicious every single time. The broth has such depth of flavor and umami that it blows my mind! Before you add anything at least give it a sip! If you are gluten intolerant don't add the sauces as they have have wheat in them, but the plate of basil, sprouts, lime and jalapeño is safe! Best pho I've had in awhile. I get it to go and they put the hot soup in a separate container and you essentially cook the thin meat yourself when you pour in the hot soup. Located in Austin's mini-Chinatown, Pho Saigon brings good pho, great vermicelli and bun bo hue, and fantastic rice plates if you're not in that noodle state-of-mind. Food-wise, definitely a solid 4 out of 5. The pho is often really good and hits the spot on a cold day. The egg rolls are definitely a must-have; they're crispy and fragrant. Among the rice plates, I really like the pork. On the other hand, the lemongrass beef is a little chewy at times, but overall, great flavors, and fresh food. Well, I had to go back because my buddy Mikey loves Pho Saigon. Even though he knew about the cleanliness issue on my last visit he didn't really care too much, and said we'll use napkins as placemats. But on this visit they had their act together - - it was perfect in every which way possible. I don't know what it was this past Friday night, but the Pho here was just outta this world. It was so darn good - - the broth, the fresh veggies, the noodles, and the meat - - everything was top notch. I walked outta there thinking I had the best Pho ever. And now I noticed a spray bottle w/ "santizer" labeled on it, and they actually were using it on the tables with the cloth. I have to say that this is my mom's favorite pho place. She brings all of her friends here and refuses to try out other pho places. As for me, Pho Saigon is a tasty place! I love how their broth is not greasy like other pho places and that their other dishes are pretty amazing too! I have had their seafood pho, vermicelli with egg roll and rice plate with charbroiled meat. Their food is tasty and the food comes out so quickly. The food is consistently good. Try the dishes on the menu. Venture out! The wait staff is attentive and will come by to check on you. This place is always busy and it's rare that it's dead. Came at 1:00 and it was pretty crowded but we managed to get a table quickly. I always here mixed thoughts about this place from friends. Some say it's the only pho place they'd go to, others say it sucks and they would only go here if they had to. I had the pho tai and a cafe sua da. Both came out within minutes. The pho itself was pretty good imo: flavorful broth, nicely soft noodles, so i finished the whole thing. I do wish there was more meat though. The cafe sua da was great for my caffeine fix, it was pretty sugary and sweet though. I got a regular sized bowl and I felt satisfied after it (this was my first meal of the day too). I knocked a star for my friends experiences (who I was eating with). One friend got the pho ga and they legit took two bites and didn't finish it because they thought it wasn't that great. My other friend ordered Che thai lan and we were all confused when it came out. It was not really like anything we expected... it seemed to be just milk with jellies and a few logans. food Is always good I don't have any complaint about it, we go there with my family once a week and the ladies are super nice they know our order already, one thing that I don't like anymore is that the old lady at the register always has a bad attitude like today that I payed the system was not working with her Apple Pay or card that I used and she was having a bad attitude and saying stuff, when the card went through gave the option to leave tip I left tip at the table and she was making me leave tip on card too when I said no she said that It was mandatory and had to leave tip. This is my pho. There are many like it, but this one is mine. The broth is its best friend. It is its life. It must complement the rice noodles just as yin complements yang. Pho Saigon knows that what counts in pho is not just the thickness of the noodles, the saltiness of the broth, nor the amount of meat. They know that it is a delicate balance between all three. A large bowl of broth with an equal amount of noodles to complement it, and generous portions of meat. The Pho is wonderful, there is a lot of it, it is good as is. You can tell this place is a lot of people's go-to - menus are old and sticky, tables are hastily wiped, but food is always solid and that's what keeps people coming back. Auntie's around Austin again ^_^ 'Twas a chilly day and BroE thought it'd be perfect for us to warm up w/some comforting cozying bowl-o-pho. Without hesitation I was like, pho yeah! We entered and were quickly directed to our table then we grabbed a high chair for my toddler nephew. Looking around I can see this casual spot bustling during the lunch and dinner rush. Fortunately we arrived during "linner". Our lady server was helpful. She took the time to guide us in ordering the proper portion size of pho for my 1.5 year old toddler nephew. When we picked the children's bowl in the "Special Noodle Soup" section, she pointed to the "Side Items" section that offered a small bowl of rice noodles which also included broth. She shared that the children's bowl is for bigger kids. We appreciated the info and it was a perfect size for him. My regular size bowl of #12 (pho tai chin) got it done. Yes to their pho. It was familiar, flavorful, aromatic, and warming. Just felt so right having pho when it's cold outside. As always I added sriracha sauce and the regular fixin's from the plate. Satisfaction. Came on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 PM - not during peak hours. The place was 75% empty. We got no service. They didn't repeat the order back to us & got order wrong. When the food finally came, it had no flavor. The staff just sits around the counter & chats to each other. We waved at them for 10 minutes before someone noticed. I was about to call the phone to have them send someone over because no one was paying attention to the people there. By the time someone was headed our way, they kept getting distracted by a bunch of other people because everyone else needed to ask for things too.
