This is a hidden gem in a small, non-descript (to run-down) strip mall on the east side of College Ave. From the outside, it looks like it would be a take-out joint. But once you step inside, the dining room is actually large and airy. And the Vietnamese food is very good. Classic pho and banh mi sandwiches.

The boba inside the milk tea is not good. The tea itself is okay. I still like my noodle even though the sauce could have more sweet in it. I probably won't order wings next time. Will come back to try Laos menu.

Everything was great. I had jasmine tea & Pho 1. There was so much food, I took some home, and added some bone broth for dinner. I will definitely be back. I left full, happy & hydrated. The service was fast and it's nice to find a more low key place to eat in Carmel.

I've been looking for a pho place close to the Carmel area and let me tell you this is the place to go if you good pho. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and the service was impeccable, they were quick and very attentive. I'm not sure if we were being served by the owner but it seemed like it and she went through the menu and explained everything to us. We broth for the pho was extremely flavorful and each table has a variety of hot sauces, chili oils and spicy seasonings which were all delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. There if currently construction going on near the restaurant but definitely worth navigating through it. I will be returning and telling everyone I know!

We've been in person but I am SO thrilled Pho Real is finally available on DoorDash! Zionsville has had no Vietnamese delivery options for years so of course we ordered right away! Everything was packed securely and delicious as ever. Pho, tofu banh mi, and pad kee mao are all delicious. My only feedback is that it would be nice to be able to choose spice level, and though ordering extra sauces is available, there are no options to choose from and no comment field to note which sauce you'd like.

Every time I come here, it's always amazing. The food, the service, the atmosphere. Nothing pictured, but the Khao Piek is one of the best foods I've ever tried. 10/10 will always be coming back :)

Vermicelli combination

I was driving to an event, and wanted a quick light dinner. Pho Real popped up, and I was able to call in a to-go order. They said it would be done in 10-15 min so that was perfect. The restaurant, is in a little strip mall. The food was hot and ready when I got there, which I appreciated. From the pun: Pho Real, I would have thought it was a Vietnamese Restaurant. They also have Thai and Laotian dishes. I thought the Vermicelli was a Vietnamese Bun Thit Noung dish. It is not what I was expecting. Instead of a fish sauce, there was a sweet and sour sauce. The protein was a bit salty for my taste. I could have used some additional veggies, the Vietnamese dish normally has pickled carrots and daikon. This dish did not. The mint was a little wilted, I could not tell if it was like that before or because it came in contact with the hot meat. The egg rolls were good, and I liked that it had fair amount of nuts. If I was in a pinch near by, I would stop by. But not something to go out of my way to try.

The food was amazing! a great local pho spot. Plenty of authentic south asian dishes on the menu. Our waiter was timely and accommodated us well. Its definitely a hole in the wall, but the food is absolutely excellent and authentic.

Phò Special

Good flavors and fast service. The spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was on point! I ordered the Phò Special.... the broth was flavorful and the meats were flavorful and tender. The only reason for 4 starts was that the broth wasn't hot enough. It needs to be steaming and it was a little warmer than lukewarm. Easy fix though! I will return!

Pho Real is very close to are home and on our families daily commute but we strangely have only tried their food twice: once with a friend for a dine in experience and the second was this week for a carry out option. Perhaps it's the dark grey strip mall location? I'm unsure but I thought swinging by on our way home would be convenient. The restaurant itself is very clean, tables are set up with yummy sauces and arranged in many different configurations for multiple guests needs. I asked for a menu to order food to go, but I can't say the waitress was all that helpful or friendly. After reviewing our options, we settled on chicken fried rice, steamed dumplings, and an order of crab rangoons. I asked the waitress if I could make a substitution for one of their house specialties (omit red onion) and she stated "No, all of them are premade". That's an odd response considering she didn't even ask which one I was interested in or try to help me find something else to enjoy. Either way, what we did order did not disappoint. The fried rice was well seasoned and a large portion while the dumplings were wonderful & came with a delicious sauce. Maybe I will try this place again next time and hope for a bit better service. Update then!

The warm/hot boba tea that separated and congealed after 5 minutes of having it.

I have just left this restaurant is shock. - the waiter was friendly and had a great attitude. Never got a name but he was a taller fellow 6ft, short hair, and glasses. Had a good attitude but we noticed something he was doing after we received our food. He was cleaning up a table from across the store and we noticed he stood there for a minute before cleaning up the plates. This is when we realized that he was EATING THE LEFTOVERS from the customers that were just THERE. We were left in horror watching this gentleman eat leftover food. We felt instantly nauseated watching him chew food that other customers left behind. - the Pho my partner had was great according to her, but unfortunately there was a hair that was stuck on the inside of the bowl. My fried dish that had chicken and shrimp and vermicelli was alright. The noodles weren't cooked all the way and were chewy. The fried rolls had pork in it that tasted gamy, I cook a lot of fresh meats and the pork tasted very close to being expired. The boba that we received at the END of the meal was hot. So at the bottom of the boba the cup was hot and the top was cold with ice, so when you would drink from it you would get warm mango juice. Also, the boba and mango drink had separated liquids 5 minutes after we left the restaurant (I will include a picture). - we wanted to leave and get a refund but we gave the restaurant a chance and ultimately it failed us. I hope others see this post as a warning that if you come here you may have your leftover food eaten and hair in your plate of food. I hope the manager of the restaurant reaches out to me after this experience.

vegetarian pho with tofu added

Soup season is here, so naturally I've been craving pho. I came here with a friend and I ordered the vegetarian pho and added tofu. The broth was SO flavorful, it had a very deep umami taste that I was worried would be lacking. It was delicious, though. The vegetables in the broth were all very tender and the tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It came with bean sprouts, jalapeños, and basil to garnish and, of course, hoisin and sriracha sauce. It was definitely the best pho that I've had in a long time. The portions are HUGE! Neither my friend nor I were able to finish while we were there and each took home leftovers. The staff were also very attentive and helpful, making sure to check on us multiple times and providing insights about the menu!

Pros: consistency, great pho, great spring rolls. AMAZING chili oil - I bought the to go version to take home and it's the spiciest chili oil I've ever had at a pho place (which is a big deal to me!) Con: order delivery lately and their drinks aren't ready by the time I'm picking up. That's it! Restaurant is clean, service is good. I didn't have to wait long at all before my bowl was coming out. I went with beef and brisket pho. The condiments were fresh. The sauces were full. Before adding any sauces, I wanted to try the broth by itself. And when I did, that's when I knew that Pho 21 has secured me as a customer. I truly didn't have to add any sauces, but what is pho if I didn't add some razzle dazzle. I left with my tastebuds satisfied and lips with a slight sizzle. Ha! After all, if your lips don't sizzle, did you really have Pho? Ha!

Finally a person came up to the cash register and allowed us to order with her as opposed to the kiosk. It also took a bit of time for the food to come out. When it did come out it wasn't our order, so we had to wait additional time. When it finally did come, it was really good. Very fresh ingredients, bread was homemade, it just really a good tasting meal. I do very much like the decor in the place, doesn't feel like you are in Castleton, feels very west cost. They also have donuts and coffee but I didn't have any of that.

There's plenty of seating and service was great. As I looked through the menu the dish that stood out to me was the thịt kho trứng (caramelized pork and egg rice dish). This isn't a dish that is usually in menus. It's a special dish made at home usually reserved for the lunar new year. After living away from family for a year now, this dish felt like a piece of home and comfort. The flavor of the pork egg dish is absolutely delicious. While this dish is typically supposed to be made with pork belly, chef Ricky substitutes it with pork shoulder for a more familiar taste/texture to our Midwestern community. I'm not mad honestly. The meat was so tender and pulls apart easily to eat with the rice which means it was braised long enough. I only ate half of the serving as it feels like a generous serving. I enjoyed that it was paired with slides tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and pickles veggies. The only thing missing was the nước chấm dipping sauce. The chè ba màu three color dessert is also another home away from home dish that instantly brings me back to my mom's house. The pandan jelly, red beans, coconut sauce and mung bean combine together so well and it was definitely a splurge to enjoy something so delicious. Thanks for a cozy, comforting meal. My partner ordered the Pho Ga, my son went with the house special pho and wisely added extra noodles, and I had the pho tai with extra noodles as well.
