I was in the IU medical building as the driver for my husbands procedure. I was so surprised and happy to see a little cafe with some Vietnamese offerings. The service was great, the operator was quick. I had already eaten so I just got a coffee frappe, and it hit the spot. I would actually totally text ahead and go to door 3 in the building to get a spring roll or banh me sandwich to go in the future for lunch. The nurse I spoke to also said that she hasn't had anything bad here.

Amazing and THE BEST soft spring rolls in the city by far!!!! I'm Vietnamese and finding authentic and delicious is sometimes far and few... These are far bigger and tastier than anyplace i've been! I've been to probably all places and tried many! The house Banh mi is also delicious! May have a little more mayo sauce than i would like but it's still yummy!

Came here for an ophthalmologist visit and noticed this cafe tucked at the north side of the building. It's open til 3pm, so I made sure I get my snacks going since this is going to be a long appointment. I am very impress of this little cafe. It's very tasty and the price point is great. Everything is under $10. Can't beat that!!! I will for sure coming back.

Cabbage salad with tofu- literally my favorite food

You need to eat here! The food is always very good. I rotate between vegetarian pho, tofu noodles, tofu spring rolls, and cabbage salad (menu has it with chicken, but they sub tofu for me).

One notable exception on the northwest edge of town is Tian Fu. It's in a residential area, in strip mall, with convenient parking. Tian Fu offers authentic Chinese and Japanese (sushi) food. For this day and age, and considering the quality and quantity of the food, the prices were reasonable, and a good value: Soup Dumpling $10.95; Shanghai Rice Cake 11.95; Old Mama's Pickled Pepper Fish $18.95; and Golden Tofu $13.95. The food was great. We would return. Note: there is a similarly named restaurant on the eastern edge of Indy. Not sure if it's under the same ownership. It's on E Washington Street, just west of Rt 465.

Not a happy face anywhere. Our waiter arrived in about 20min to take drink orders. Food arrived, dish by dish, for the next 1.5 hours. The food was mostly OK. Basic items like silverware and napkins had to be obtained manually. Also to-go boxes. Last year, it was a three star. This year, two. We won't be back. Perhaps it's not a Larson cartoon (Crisis clinic on fire, about to go over some waterfalls), but it came close. The food as not bad; it was OK, nothing above average. I wish I could say better because my sister thinks it's fine.... until her meal arrived somewhat cold, ninety-minutes after we sat. It was mostly empty by the time we left; restaurants are a tough business, especially on Christmas. Will we be there next Christmas? Nope.

The staff was super friendly as well and service was great. I love that they have lots of small plates so you can try a little of everything. We ordered: Batagor (chicken and shrimp dumplings) Bala - Bala (vegetable fritters) Satay appetizer (chicken with peanut sauce) Crab Rangoon Martabak Telor (beef omelette) Bakmi Jawa (noodle stir fry with shrimp) Beef Rendang (simmered beef and sides) Iced Palm sugar latte Lychee Iced Tea And a side of noodles for our 2 year The sauces that came with these dishes were also great. You can even shop from their small store to bring Indonesian groceries home. We went on a Saturday night and it was pretty full. We found a spot in the small parking lot, but they have signs that there is additional parking by the church if you go and need to find a spot. Since we clearly over ordered we had a lot to take home and it was great as leftovers the next day still. Can't wait to go back!

I don't have a benchmark, since this is my single Indonesian food experience. I ordered the bala-bala and beef rendang. The bala-bala were packed with recognizable veggies and had a light crispy texture. Not greasy or oily at all. My main course came with rice, a jackfruit curry and kale. A green chili sauce, more like a relish is served on the side. It is very spicy. The beef was well spiced, fork tender and just dreamy. I was also surprised by the jackfruit curry-something I've never had but liked with the spiciness of the beef-I did use a lot of the green chili sauce. The place is small and very casual and serves coffee drinks but doesn't have a liquor license. You can carry in from the pub next door, though. The parking lot is very small but I think you can park in the adjoining lot by the pub. I went at an odd time and was the only customer other than a couple of drunk women trying to get coffee. There's also a small shop where you can buy Indonesian spices, mixes and coffee. I regret not buying the rendang mix! I'm definitely going back to try some of the other dishes, ideally with friends to share appetizers-I want that lumpia-and I'll be sure to grab a package of rendang spice on my way out.

Pho is my medicine when I'm getting over a cold. I learned this trick many years ago when I lived…read morein Orange County, an area of Southern California with some of the best pho outside of Vietnam. One time, I was at a Vietnamese restaurant and saw a man sitting by himself, his face over a steaming bowl of pho, with a pile of tissues next to him. He'd alternate slurping up noodles and broth with blowing his nose. It was gross but also kind of brilliant and also somehow still delicious-looking. Homeboy was on a mission to clear his nasal passages, I tell you what. So, the next time I had a cold, I tried my man's technique. And you know what? Yes, pho is a medical miracle. If you're on the end stages of a cold, where you feel 90% better but you still have some nagging junk hanging on, get a bowl of pho. And bring some tissues with you. Short story long: The pho at Long Thanh is probably the best pho I've eaten in Indianapolis. Not only was my pho ga delicious and simple, like a great bowl of chicken pho should be. But I visited with the end stages of a cold, and once I put my face over the bowl and started slurping, I could feel the pho working its magic. My visit was also a reconnaissance mission, of sorts: I know there are a lot of places to get pho around Indy, but where would one go to get an amazing bowl of pho? I didn't have that one place to point someone to, or take someone to, until today. Long Thanh is it! Now, this is not the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant that I've ever visited. In fact, I would probably qualify this place as a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It's located in a dusty strip mall. The building looks like it was built in the 1960s and hasn't been updated since the 1990s. But I'm willing to overlook the spider webs in the windows, the ramshackle carpet and the upside-down Lowe's bucket serving as a plant holder. Why? Because the pho at Long Thanh is the kind of pho you want to be sticking your sick freakin' face over. So, the pho ga is my standard pho order, because how can you go wrong with chicken soup? The pho comes with a platter of herbs -- Thai basil, regular basil and cilantro -- and bean sprouts to sprinkle into your bowl, according to your preference. There are also some lime wedges to squeeze, and jalapeno slices to add for a little heat. If you need more heat, there's Sriracha and other sauces at the table. I add Sriracha as I eat, because I like to build up the heat as I go. Basically, my bowl of pho was exactly what I wanted: a hot and flavorful bowl of broth and perfectly cooked noodles and chicken, with the ability to add handfuls of fresh herbs and sprouts for a nice fresh, crunchy texture. One other reason to visit Long Thanh: the owner of this restaurant. This guy is also the host, the server, the cook, and the person who clears the tables. He is a bright and shining beacon of light in an otherwise dusty strip mall in central Indiana. He was super enthusiastic about every single thing. You can tell that he loves what he does, and it shows in the food he serves.

It was very clean with a few people dining in. It appeared that most orders were carry out, at least in mid-afternoon when I was there. It was perfectly cooked, slightly crisp. Tofu was tasty too. I'm glad that I ordered extra Teriyaki sauce. Next time I will try the spicy tofu. I like the simple menu as it is not intimidating or difficult to order. It is fast and easy. I do wish there was a vegetarian spring roll on the menu for people who don't eat chicken.
