A decently sized pho shop with quick service off route 1. Service was fast and I got a #2 pho with grilled pork rolls. Grilled pork was really tender and overall pretty tasty with the wrap and rice vermicelli. Pho was just decent. Portion size was good even for the smaller size and meatball was pretty good. I didn't think the rare beef slices were that tender or tasty. Certainly not bad but also not the best. Also came here a few years ago and didn't have a strong impression of the food then. read more

4.5 stars. One of my new go-to spots for Viet food in the area! Beyond just pho, this restaurant also serves traditional Vietnamese dishes that you don't typically see at other restaurants. The Banh Beo (steamed rice cakes appetizer) is a must-order from the Specials menu, and I also love the Xoi Chien Gion (crispy rice appetizer), which is absolutely addicting. The normal entrees are also fantastic - my family enjoyed the bun bowls and traditional grilled pork with broken rice. Service can be a bit slow depending on the lunch/dinner rush, but the wait has never been too long. All in all, this is a tasty and affordable spot to satisfy your Vietnamese cravings. Finally got to try the food here since the owners opened this location. The Bun Bo Hue was excellent, it is one of the best in this area. (I've had it at every restaurant around here and also home made). I would add more beef slices but they had all the other meat and cha. The broth was well seasoned and spicy enough. The pho was also good and the Com Tam One was tasty. Also tried the che ba mau and it was only ok. Have had better at other restaurants nearby. The place is tricky to get to from rt 1 north but manageable. Parking was fine. The staff was friendly. Price is reasonable for the area. Would def come back and have the BBH again. read more

I have to admit, at first I thought this place wasn't going to be good because there wasn't that many inside the restaurant. Boy was I wrong!! This place got packed quick!!! We had 12 people in our party and they quickly put some tables together for us within minutes. The guy taking our order was great - he took care of our party the whole night. I don't think anything was missed or delayed. I know large parties can be tough to handle especially if multiple people are putting in orders at random times. The food was filling and the pricing wasn't bad either. Pho One offers different viet dishes that you don't find at most viet restaurants. (I will be back to try the bun bo hue!) My party ordered a wide variety of pho, rice dishes, banh hoi, and bun bo hue. (Sorry I wasn't able to capture every single order) The only disappointment was they were out of a lot of smoothies and pearls for the smoothies. Portion sizes are amazing for the price point, you wont feel like you're still hungry after eating. The service is also amazing! Pho One officially opened for business on April 25, 2019 and yes, it didn't take too long for our family to check this Vietnamese restaurant. It's located on route 1 in a small strip shopping area of about 4 other businesses so there's some parking spaces available but definitely not too many if the restaurant is fully packed so either order your meal to go, which many customers did or come here off hours. We dined in and grabbing a table wasn't an issue because it's a weekday and past 1pm. The service is friendly but a bit slow considering the timeliness of when we ordered and when the was served. The place had literally 5 other tables of customers but the rest of the restaurant is empty. While we waited for our lunch, I noticed many people called and placed the orders to go. Finally after what seems like more than twenty minutes, our food order came. They messed up my daughter's order. She had ordered grilled chicken and rice and they brought her an entirely different dish. Five minutes later, her dish arrived. I ordered the tofu mixed with vegetables and white rice. Some of my veggies were undercooked. I guess the chef must be rushing out our dishes and I wished they would have cooked the veggies a bit more. The brown sauce seasoning is okay. I've have had better but it wasn't the worst either. My hubby's meal was the rice special with pork chop, quiche, egg roll, fried egg, shredded pork meat and tofu. The pork chop was slightly pink and undercooked. My son ordered grilled sliced pork and spring rolls with vermicelli noodles. His meal was the best out of all our dishes. The meat was seasoned pretty good and not undercooked. Both my hubby and son said the spring rolls are delicious. I'm rating 3 stars but really I find it 2.5 stars. I'm hopeful that they will improve over time with their speed of service and attention to detail. Apparently, while we waited for our meal, I've heard complaints from other customers who ordered their meals to go that they were given the wrong order of food and another order was entirely missed. Pho One had a recent grand opening on April 25th. We came here the following day to be one of the first people to try the new restaurant. We've been waiting for a good Vietnamese to open in this area so naturally this was a must try. Upon arrival during lunch hours we were seated. The restaurant has about twenty tables in the dining area. Our server first asked us what we would like to drink and gave us time to look over the menu. When they came back, our orders was sent to kitchen. During this time I noticed that there was huge to go order that the workers was packing in bags. This would explain why our food took a long time to come. It was only five other table during this time. Finally, when the food came they gave us two C1 rice combos. We ordered one C1 and one grilled chicken. This was quickly corrected within five minutes. I ordered the C1 which is the grilled pork chop with egg rolls, an egg, pork pie, and veggies on the side. Everything on the plate was great except for one thing, "the pork" was pink and under cooked. This was main ingredient why did you mess up? I guess they were trying to rush other orders out of the kitchen ASAP. I guess they are still trying to get things in order which is why I am willing to give them another chance. After the meal, we tried to pay and the cashier had to use a calculator to add our meals together. This is 2019 and they don't have a POS machine to do this? No itemized receipt so I had to take their word for it. I really hope that they get their act together, but I will give them a free pass for now since they just opened. What a bummer! This place used to be so good! I'd eaten here around 30 times over the past ten years and the food was always awesome but it had been about a year since I was last at Pho One and boy how the food has changed! My favorite dish has always been the Banh Xeo crepe, super crispy and full of bean sprouts. Tonight it was completely burnt and full of onion instead-- like a whole onion-- inedible and weird. Also inedible was the bo luc lac. I'd had it here many times but the cubes of beef have been replaced with tiny pieces of burnt gristle with a teriyaki flavor, also inedible. I've included a photo-- look at the size of the pieces of beef next to the grains of rice for comparison. The spring rolls tonight were always great but tonight were just strange. They looked as they usually do but tasted like potato. Maybe they are filled with potato now? I didn't think the summer roll I ate tonight was terrible, just lame but the person I was with couldn't eat hers, found it worse than lame, very stale. What a bummer! This place used to be awesome and now after eating about a fifth of what I bought, I'm back home hungry with a terrible taste of burtness in my mouth. I guess nothing good lasts forever. My vegan pho started sweet but a dab of soy sauce balanced the flavour. What threw me off was the tofu with fake chicken skin. Not sure why it would try to imitate the look of chicken when it made no attempt to taste like chicken. Heh. My dining partner enjoyed her chicken pho and spring rolls. My bowl included the brisket, rare steak, flank, tendon and tripe (according to the menu). I got meatballs in my bowl and no tripe. When I informed the waiter he quickly brought out tripe and explained that they didn't update the menu to say it included meatballs. Overall great pho and SUPER fast service. read more

Even before we perused the menu, we could pretty much guess that Pho One was the real thing.....Everyone dining this lunch was Vietnamese except us. Decore is spare fast food. Devoid of all the usual accoutrement that lesser restaurants clutter the walls to convince the average American diner they are in a 'Authentic Vietnamese 'joint..... I appreciate that. Menu is chock full of all the usual favorites with the ubiquitous Pho covering a whole page chockfull of options and add On's such as oxtail, squid and grilled shrimp however blood cake was conspicuously missing. Wishing to stay away from the usual Cha Gio{fried pork filled egg roll} or spring rolls we instead opted for the excellent crisp shrimp and pork lotus root salad with a tart, sweet and savory dressing overflowing with fat shrimp and thin slices of lean pork... a winner. Next was the wonderfully sticky lemon grass chicken wings which held a very nice fish sauce kick to augment its sweet glaze on a bed of cool, crisp iceberg lettuce and plump tomatoes...another winner. I opted for the beef ball and raw brisket Pho and was glad I didn't go for an extra large portion as this is one very big bowl of soup. I always taste the broth before I season and was rather disappointed how bland it seemed even with though it was swimming with glistening fat. After seasoning with some chili,hoisin,basil,rather tame jalapenos,raw onions and bean sprouts it was a bit better but not the best bowl of Pho I've ever had... not even close. Again disappointing but I rarely order Pho at a Viet restaurant so no big loss on my part. What is exciting however is the selection of Banh Hoi which is a "roll your own" spring roll with a choice of fillings ranging from sausage, grilled shrimp or pork and sugar cane skewers along with fresh pickled radish,carrots and crisp veggies that is dipped in seasoned fermented soy based sauce{ not on the menu but I venture available on request} as well as their selection of broken rice dishes. The cold Vietnamese coffee was nice and strong by the way. Pho One is a great find for real Vietnamese cuisine in central Jersey and is heads above most of so called Authentic Vietnamese restaurants I've visited over the years. I'm just going to get to the point here...Pho, simple enough, right? Before I get to the Pho, let me talk about the chicken wings we ordered as an appetizer. From the picture on the menu I was so sure that it was lightly fried with just some simple seasoning. What came was some heavy coated sauce that was tangy. I am not a fan of this flavor. The chicken was a bit DRY and not juicy. I ordered the Pho with sliced beef and oxtail. There is only one big DRY overcooked oxtail piece in the bowl. I found the sliced beef to be more DRY then other places. The broth tasted watered down and had no flavor. At least the noodles were cooked perfectly, no complaints here. As you can see, my whole dining experience here with the food overall was very DRY meat. As I leave the restaurant, I couldn't wait to get into my car, grab some dental floss and get the DRY beef out of teeth (sorry, TMI). Service was great, they came by about four times to ask how everything was. There is a karaoke machine and stage. No one was singing but had there been, maybe it would have made my meal here better. At least I would have been entertained. I have another Yelper that had a very different experience than I did. Do give this place a try and judge for yourself. We had an amazing dinner at this vietnamese restaurant!Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior located in a small strip mall. To start, we ordered the summer roll, which was fresh and delicious. For entrees, most of my family ordered the pho. The broth was tasty with bold, rich flavors. I can distinctly taste the asian spices yet it all blended together well, resulting in rich, tasty layers. I ordered the beef and egg rolls with vermicelli noodles. The beef had a beautiful charred flavor but what stood out was the egg rolls. The egg rolls were absolutely delicious! The egg roll wrapper was crunchy but also melt-in-your-mouth. It is skinnier than other areas and is easier to eat. We also ordered the square noodles with grilled pork. The pork had a nice carmelized taste with tasty charred edges. This dish came with a side of lettuce, carrots and mint as well as a small package of rice wrappers. This was a nice surprise! You dip the rice wrappers into the warm water in the rice wrapper stand and you wrap your lettuce, carrots and mint together with the square noodles and grilled pork. This was a very random choice to try because we was coming back from a road trip. Firstly we call to make sure the restaurant was open (because it was 5th of July), but the call was never attended, we learn the reason later on. There are some point I want to make: 1. Inside is very spaceful, and they don't open all the tables, so social distancing is accomplished. 2. The foods are delicious, light but flavorful. Specially the BBQ smoked meat, pork and shrimp, they have a real charcoal flavor. 3. The waiter is polite, taking the order efficiently. however, there are only one waiter for the entire restaurant. Poor guy was like a spinning top, all over the place There is one cons, since there was only one waiter, he was not able to clean up all the finished tables on time. I can see a lot of used plates and bowls. That was a no no, in my opinion. Hopefully it was a one time thing, since the day I went there was the day after 4th of July. I have driven by the strip mall where Pho One is located a bunch of times, but one day I was surprised to see Pho One under construction. This section of the 1/9 has plenty of restaurants, but a Vietnamese establishment was not one I had expected to see! I waited a couple months after the opened to let them iron out the bugs (all restaurants go through it in the beginning). When I finally stepped inside, I realized that the exterior was very deceptive. Looking at it as you drive past it you would think this place is a hole in the wall, but in reality the interior is one of the larger Asian restaurants I have visited in this area of Jersey. There was plenty of seating inside and room to walk even with the restaurant 70% occupied. I was very surprised. The interior has a very modern design. White is the primary color and there is not a ton of kitschy items cluttering up the space. It is a very comfortable setting. I wound up trying two dishes: the summer roll and the Pho with tripe and brisket. The summer roll was good. The shrimp was fresh and the skin on the roll was nice and soft (read: not dried up at all). The Pho was fantastic. The broth was very flavorful and you could really taste the spices in the mix. The tripe and brisket was very tender. Here's the amazing (and crazy) part. The Pho comes in a "regular" size and an XL size! The "regular" is the big bowl of Pho most Vietnamese restaurants sell, so I can't even imagine now huge the XL would be! Kudos to the restaurant for having all sorts of sauces right on the table to add to the flavor. The service was very good and I heard the staff very patiently explaining the menu to some customers who were unfamiliar with the cuisine. For what you get, the prices were also fairly reasonable. This place is in the heart of US 1&9. I was surprised as I walked inside because it kind of reminded me of a fast food restaurant with fancy seats, like maybe a fancy chicken shack? But the service was great. Wee were greeted warmly at the door and had free reign to sit anywhere in the restaurant. I ordered the beef Pho with oxtail and beef, tamarind wings, summer rolls, and Banh Mi Thit Nuong. The Pho was delicious. It came out in a huge bowl which surprised me because there's no way I could finish it! To my surprise I didn't finish all of the noddles and meat, just not the all of the broth although the broth was absolute favorite part. It was packed with flavor! The oxtail was extremely fatty; when I removed all of the fat there was barely any meat on the bone which was a bit disappointing. Next time I try the pho from here, I will go another route with the meat choice. The wings were surprising because they looked nothing like the ones on the menu picture but they were delicious! The tamarind sauce was great and had a yummy fish sauce undertone. Unlike some places that miss the mark with summer rolls, my summer roll was amazing. Each bite contained either shrimp or pork which was amazing!! The peanut sauce blended perfectly as a dipping sauce. And finally, the Banh Mi (my favorite food of the night) was AMAZING! The absolute perfect combination of sweet and spicy. If you prefer your banh mi to be on the spicy side, I'm sure they can make that for you but I'm a more sugar over spice kind of girl and it made me very happy. Will I be back? For the banh mi and summer rolls? DEFINITELY. Also, I'm a heavy water drinker and I will say the tap water did not taste good at all. After our favorite pho place closed down we were looking for a new one in the area, and this spot did not disappoint. We've come here about 4 times now and food was fresh every time. Plus it comes FAST! We started ordering vegetarian summer roll for health reasons and we actually like it more than the pork summer roll. Service is great. Portions are big. Place is clean. Can't wait to try more items on the menu. I recommend Grilled Pork Banh Mi, it's amazing. This is the first Pho spot we went to where both pho and banh mi is delicious.
