This was my second time dining here. The first time we had Pho so this time I figured we would try something else so we had the rice platters. I love short ribs so this was an easy decision for me. The ribs were very tasty and delicious with a very flavorful marinade. Some pieces were a bit on the chewy side but that's meant to be expected. The veggies were fresh and crisp and made a nice accompaniment. My hubby went with the Lemongrass pork chop platter that had a little bit of everything. He also commented that the chops had a very tasty marinade very similar to my ribs. He enjoyed his dish as well. Lua Vietnamese Cuisine is a great addition in Festival Plaza! I must say this location is filled with a variety of food options and Lua doesn't disappoint. They have Pho Wednesdays where you get a delicious meal for an affordable price. You can either dine in or get takeout for this deal. I've had the pleasure of doing both and I'm impressed with the Togo packaging and it's usually warm when I get home. The service is prompt based on the day/time of visiting but it is a nice atmosphere for eating some good Vietnamese food especially during the winter months. Hey, it's pho so get the beef! The broth was decent - not great not bad but okay. The dipping hoisen and siracha was available but very low stocked. We asked for more and they did restocked but very little. We ordered what's supposed to be bot chien - it is a popular Vietnamese street food dish made from a block of steamed rice flour and tapioca starch that is cut into cubes, pan-fried until crispy, and then scrambled with eggs and green onions. Well, it's nothing like it unfortunately. I taste mainly fried eggs with some green onions. It lacks the carbs and the crispy texture. I think if I'm stuck on a pinch and craving pho, I might stop by again but with so many other Vietnamese restaurant, it's probably not worth the visit especially when parking is a nightmare at this shopping center. read more

We loved that it's a BYOB restaurant, and even better, there's a store just a few doors down where you can conveniently grab a bottle to bring in. They'll open it and serve it for you, which was a really nice touch. The menu is extensive, with plenty of appetizers to choose from. Portions were fair, the food was fresh, and every bite was packed with flavor. $17 Pho your way flavor is a little bland and lacking any fragrance or aroma. They do not provide a lot of the side dish (bean sprouts, lime, basil) that usually goes into your noodle soups. The amount of meat they give per bowl is decent, could definitely be a little more but nothing to complain about. Their $10 Banh Mi - grilled pork- flavor is good but a third of it is bread sadly. It's a decent meal, not bad, but not good for the price. Not worth waiting more than 10 minutes to be seated as there are plenty of Viet restaurants in Edison. We tried the Banh Xeo ($15) which I think could be improved if the crepe part was not soggy from the watery bean sprouts and onions. The Pho Lua / Beef Noodle Soup ($18) was decent and the broth flavorful. It came with an ample variety of meats, though can be a bit pricey. IMO I think you're mostly paying for the nice ambiance here. *SERVICE* Service was mediocre. I like their Bun bo hue as well as their pork chop over rice. I've ordered a few times and their Bun Bo hue has been on point. It's flavorful with a good ratio of noodles and meat. They are not stingy with their ingredients so for about $17 a bowl of soup, it is worthwhile. Their pork chop over rice comes with 2 pieces of nicely charred and flavorful pork chop that aren't dry like some other restaurants. The staff are generally pretty nice. The restaurant was clean and spacious each time I've gone. Their bathrooms are only 2 stalls (1 Ada and 1 regular) so just time it well if you don't like to wait in line for the bathroom on a busy day/night. I had the northern style pho and my friend had a beef vermicelli platter (can't remember the name). Unfortunately, my friend found a hair in his food and left most of it uneaten. It was very tasty and I was excited to try other items in the restaurant. I decided to come in with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. That time I reordered my Bò Kho dish and my friends ordered the Bún Bò Huế (Spicy Beef and Pork Noodle Soup), Phở Lúa (Beef Noodle Soup *Filet mignon, oxtail, brisket, tendon, beef ball, tripe, beef bone broth, rice noodle, onion, herb) and Bánh Khọt (Mini Savory Pancakes Ground Pork, Shrimp, Rice Flour, Coconut Milk, Onion, and Herbs), Sinh To Bo (Avocado Smoothie), and Iced Milk Coffee. Unfortunately my Bò Kho was not as good as the first time I had it just 3 weeks prior but it was not bad, just weird that it was inconsistent and not as good eating in house. My friends thought their meals and drinks were ok but there was not one item that we raved about. This last time we went we ordered the Bánh Khọt again, Cút Chiên Bơ (Butter Glazed Fried Quail), Bo Ne (Vietnamese Sizzling Steak & Egg - 6 Oz Filet Mignon, Double Running Egg, Pate, Tomato, and Housemade Sauce Served With Bread), Pho Bo Vien (Kid Menu item - beef noodle soup with meatballs), Bánh Canh Cua (Crab Tapioca Noodle Soup), Sinh To Bo, and Soda Chanh Muoi (Carbonated Salted Lemonade). We had to ask for fish sauce on the side to add to the broth. I would have to say that the fried quail was an interesting dish and was tasty. The steak and eggs were also pretty good according to the person who ordered it. Everything else was just ok but the bad was notable. It's just very disappointing that there were so many misses and inconsistencies even when we reordered some things on multiple visits. I think the service was ok (sometimes better than others) but they were understanding when we asked for things to be redone. My absolute favorite dish here is the Vietnamese Dried Noodles. It is packed with flavors, and the noodles are always perfectly cooked. Moreover, it comes with a side of soup! We just loved this beautiful Vietnamese restaurant! The won ton soup was a HUGE hit! Two of us had the vermicelli with pork and shrimp & one had the same without the pork. One had the pho and loved it. I didn't care for the rice cake, which wasn't crisp and more like an omelet. Thai iced tea was a hit. I'm always impressed with a restaurant that provides quality take-home boxes so that my car isn't messed up. Service was excellent & we were even impressed with the very modern bathrooms!
