We then had a lengthy discussion on how to fry the noodles and heard another explanation about why the dish isn't super popular. It's our favorite conspiracy. 78/100 Lua Vietnamese Cuisine was a polarized experience -…read moreon one hand the food was way better than I was expecting, but on the other hand, the interior was a bit grimy and wait time was long (for service, but not for food to arrive) even though most of the restaurant was empty. --- I dined for weekday lunch as a party of four at Lua Vietnamese Cuisine. There were many empty tables with dirty dishes left on them, which to me suggested they were understaffed that day. To my knowledge, Lua was recently constructed, however the booth seating was already ripping and the floor and booth seams were honestly grimy. I would've expected those from a hole in the wall restaurant, but it looks really modern and "elevated" inside. My menu was dirty and I didn't realize it was missing some pages (because the pages ripped from the staple) so I thought the menu was a lot smaller than it was. I hope they find a better way of cleaning the restaurant interior and menus, and update the menus to higher quality. I ordered (S3)- Vietnamese Dried Noodles, which came with a bowl of soup. The rest of my party ordered (A16)- Butter Glazed Fried Quail and (B4)- Grilled Pork and Spring Roll on Rice Vermicelli. -I ended up eating the (S3) Dried Noodles for four days because of the shear quantity of them, so to me it was incredible value. And it had a fair portion of seafood and the flavor was actually surprisingly super delicious, if not a bit sweet. I had an upset stomach that day and was happily surprised this dish came with soup. I would reorder this, especially if I was hungry. -For me, the quail (A16) was a little dry but well seasoned. There were two quails in the serving. I would reorder this again only if I was craving small bites. - The pork chop (B4) was on the above average side in terms of taste, but fairly large in terms of size. There was rice, spring roll, egg omlette, along with other sides. Overall, Lua Vietnamese Restaurant had an extensive menu and I really enjoyed the food. However, while the food was quick to come out, the table service was painfully slow and the interior was grimy. I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the area, but not in a rush.

Having said that; the food has been on a downturn for a little bit now. The Pho broth used to be very flavorful and sadly has become very bland and lacking depth. The meats and accompaniments are still of quality and fresh but the broth IS the reason you get Pho and it just isn't the same as it once was. The Pork Chops are still amazing and the Rice and Rice Noodle dishes are done well. Overall a good spot for a bite but not a place worth going out of the way for anymore.

Daughter liked it and wasn't disappointed by it. D4- Mi Xao Dơn Do Biển, which is a combination of seafood and vegetables stir fried in a light sauce and served over crispy noodles. A9- Banh Xeo, which is coconut and rice flour crepe filled with a savory combination of bean sprouts and shrimp that's served on a bed of lettuce. This was ok but it wasn't as soft. The omelet tasted like it was overdone. I'm not sure if it was because we just came back from our trip to Los Angeles where all the Vietnamese food were top-notch but I felt a little disappointed with this place. The initial customer service was warm and welcoming, and we were seated promptly. However, once our food arrived, it felt like the service tapered off. No one checked in on us throughout the meal to see if we needed anything or if everything was to our liking. A few table touches would have made the dining experience feel much more attentive. For appetizers, we ordered the shrimp and pork spring rolls. They were fresh and delicious, though I do think the portion size could be a bit larger for the $6.95 price. For our entrees, we both ordered the oxtail pho. It looked very appetizing when it arrived. I always like to take a sip of the broth before adding any condiments so I can appreciate its natural flavor. Unfortunately, the broth was very bland and lacked the rich, aromatic depth I expect from a good pho. It was disappointing because the presentation was excellent, but the broth ultimately fell short of expectations. Overall, the experience had a strong start with friendly service and prompt food delivery, but the lack of follow-up service and the underwhelming broth left me disappointed. With a more flavorful broth and more attentive service throughout the meal, this could be a much better dining experience.
