We were pleasantly surprised to find this authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Tucson. Their crepe had nice crunch with ample amount of meat and bean sprouts inside. One was perfect to share as an appetizer. Their pho had nice broth although the noddle were slightly overcooked. The medium was perfect size for me but if you're very hungry, go for the large. The rice plate was also delicious and it came with small bowl of soup. It wasn't very crowded for Thursday dinner, and the service was excellent. Highly recommend! read more

What is with a very obnoxious woman in that restaurant? I think she might be related to the owners. I came here over a year ago and she was there speaking loudly in the kitchen then she locked herself in the bathroom for about 30 minutes. Today I stopped in for a quick meal before a movie and she is still there. She was speaking on the phone while on speaker, sitting at one of the tables where the customers are trying to enjoy their meals. They have a great menu and I loved everything I ordered. They have Vegan phó and a tofu banh mi sandwich. Pro tip dip the sandwich in the soup! I think they recently changed owners, but I'm glad they still have the Vegan phó. There are only a couple of places in Tucson that have vegetable based broth. This is one of my favorite. read more

Classic Vietnamese family owned and operated restaurant--they have a wide selection of authentic Vietnamese dishes, including my favorite: bun bo hue! I visited with some family as a birthday dinner, and it was exactly what I expected: homey, delicious, and familiar. That's all I could really ask for when looking for a good Vietnamese restaurant. I was not a big fan of the food here. The shrimp spring rolls were pretty good, and the peanut sauce was delicious. The #8 was mostly noodles and only had 3 shrimp and very little pork. The lemongrass beef bun was made with shaved steak from the grocery store, no flavor and overcooked. The only winner here was the pho with rare steak. Service was ok. I normally give mom and pop shops two tries before leaving a review, but I will not be wasting money here. Staff wasnt attentive and rude, besides the younger gal that was working, she was sub part at best. We ordered the deluxe medium pho, and the deluxe rice platter , no clue what it's called as well as spring rolls and egg rolls. Our spring rolls were tiny compared to other places I'm used to, on top of extremely watery peanut dipping sauce. Our egg rolls came with sweet chili sauce which isn't the norm for most authentic places, and our spring rolls were pathetic looking, mangled and had barely any meat. Definitely didn't look like what others got in these yelp pictures. Also tasted old. My sons deluxe pho he enjoyed at first , broth was okay, had a decent amount of meat but not for $15. The noodles tasted very stale and old , and broken up into small pieces and clumped. We've had enough pho in our lives to know that's not what fresher vendor bought noodles are supposed to look or taste like. Then to top it all off he found hair in his food , but didn't tell me. Because I was already upset that there was hair and egg shells in my one fried egg. I get egg shells happen , but two hairs in two main dishes. Come on. My rice platter , the nước chấm was a bit spicy to my surprise but I did enjoy that. The shrimp paste thing was maybe freezer burned because it had a bad taste to it and they only gave you have a piece, which in this case I guess was a good thing. The pork chop I will say was delicious, although I wish it had more meat and less fat and gristle. We already talked about the egg... And the rice didn't taste starchy so atleast they clean their rice. Cost me $50 or so before tip, and honestly it was the first establishment where I didn't want to tip but still did. Pho Nagn Tucson It's conveniently located in the strip mall with plenty of parking. This restaurant still has that old time mom and pop Asian family feel it's a definite classic type vibe with Auntie up front taking orders and the rest of the family in the back cooking and putting to go orders together. I always like to support a locally owned business. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. Having said that the service was fast and efficient . It's also about being realistic about the food. This is not a mall based chain restaurant or a high end bistro somewhere. The food was well prepared hot and delicious. This is a Vietnamese restaurant. So there's lots of variety in the menu. I have the build your own Pho each time I have gone. I also have tried the pork fried egg rolls. I usually go for a late lunch. I talked to the owner and asked her how they made their soup and she said they boiled bones and added their own spices which is the traditional way to do things, I think they have a good soup base, all soup comes with sprouts and fresh Thai basil, I usually add bok choy, brisket and steak. They have plenty of other Vietnamese dishes too. I have enjoyed their pork vermicelli which is a cool salad type dish which is nice on a hot day, Pho Nagn 'is a classical mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant. Loved this place! My husband loves pho and I prefer less or no broth. This place is perfect for us. He ordered the Pho Doc Biet and said it's the best pho he's ever eaten. I ordered the Vermicelli Noodle Bowl with Lemongrass Beef - it was amazing - so light and full of flavor. The egg rolls were definitely made in house and cooked to perfection. This is a locally owned family run restaurant. Their dedication to good food is apparent from the first bite. Our food came out incredibly fast and the staff was so pleasant. Okay so I love pho and my husband and I are regulars here. We know that the food is yummy but the service is usually just okay. The past 3 times we have been, the service has just flat out SUCKED. The young guy that works the register and serves the food just simply hates working here. He never refills water, doesn't bring extra napkins, even when asked for at the time of ordering and doesn't care to see if you are happy with your food. Our food order wasn't correct, we both order a pho tai add tofu and an order of egg rolls. Our pho tai had no tofu and I had to ask about the egg rolls. We received no extra napkins even when I asked a secind time for them. We love to support local mom and pop shops but the lackluster service makes it difficult to want to come back. He got the Deluxe Pho and I got the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese Savory Crepe). The pho broth is slightly different, I can't seem to put a finger on what it is, but it definitely hit the spot. It was warm and comforting, and the veggie accoutrements were fresh and clean. The Banh Xeo came out sooo crispy, but the batter itself was a little bland. When entering the restaurant, the deliciously intense fragrance of pho assails the nose; not ordering the pho would be insane. The diner is invited to customize the ingredients. This time I had beef broth, brisket, bok choy, with bean sprouts, jalapeños, and cilantro. It was savory and slightly spicy and thoroughly enjoyable. I have loved this restaurant for years but when I ordered tonight I was so disappointed! I ordered my regular order and it was half the size...due to price of food I can understand that and would be ok with it. But what happened??? No flavor at all in broth for my pho! That was the best part of the pho! Seemed to be all water and oil with some clove, noodles were all broken very little meat. We added seasoning and bouillon to get any flavor. Dishes that I've tried include the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese savory crepes with shrimp, pork belly, veggies, fish sauce), Pho, Vermicelli dishes, and Banh Mi. My daughter and I tried Pho Ngan for the first time. I really appreciated having full size condiments. Every other pho place since Covid gives u a small side of the Hoisin/Sriracha and I always have to ask for extra at each visit. So having it there was awesome! The build your own Pho was perfect. They give u a lot of onions which is a plus and enough limes! Again the other places give you a piece per bowl it seems. The taste of the broth i have to say was not as flavorful as i would like unfortunately but it still tasted okay. There was enough tables which was nice and we had the option to sit where we wanted. My daughter described it as a place we'd eat at again if we are nearby but not a place she can't wait to go back to. First tried this restaurant on November 13th for lunch & the second time on December 3rd. This was the first time I had the crepes. It was so good & filling. My husband and daughter had the banh mis and liked them. This a locally ran restaurant, which I try to remember when I eat there. This place is busy with diners & take-outs alike. Don't be surprised if your wait is longer both to order and get your food. My second visit in December, it seemed all the tables needed to be cleaned from the lunch crowd. I would like to preface this review by saying that Pho is absolutely... My Cup of Tea! LOL I am Asian from Asia and lived in SF The Bay Area for over 20 years, which is the heart of Pho outside of Vietnam. I know my Pho and my Friends of Tucson.... These are the droids you are looking for (Star Wars Fans). Pho Ngan has The Best Pho in Tucson Arizona, and quite possibly in ALL of Arizona - Mike Drop!! And honestly, their Pho is better than 95% or more, of the Pho in The Bay Area - seriously. They deserve MORE than 5 Stars!! The broth is tangy, zesty and has a great blend of the classic Pho broth spices one would and should expect from tasty Pho broth. Many Pho restaurants try to increase the taste of their Pho broth with salts and Buddha forbid - MSG!! But NOT Pho Ngan!! These guys do it the right way, and DO NOT use any of that stuff! From there, the meat is good quality and tastes great in the Pho. The noodles are cooked to perfection, which equates to an al dente texture which is again, exactly what they should be. The veggies such as the cilantro, jalapeños, sprouts and most importantly - The Basil and lime - are all perfectly fresh time and time again. I cannot say the same for ANY Bay Area Pho. Everything at Pho Ngan is or excels the par for the course; No - it is much much better than par and for all of the above reasons.... Pho Ngan is to be super highly recommended. I generally don't really care what mood other people are in but it just felt to me this guy really wanted the world to know he hated his job. I heard about this place opening when the pandemic started. I heard they had a host of issues with payment and orders. I can understand how the Covid guidelines and a new business can make things a challenge. Thankfully I waited until the dust settled. The restaurant is in a strip mall and the restaurant is simple. The decor isn't too fancy, but it's nice for a casual restaurant. A good sign of an ethnic restaurant is if folks of that ethnic group eat there. This place had a few different tables of Vietnamese folks eating there in off peak hours when I went. The food is very good. I had the pho dac biet, the fried shrimp, and egg rolls. I was in the area and my boy was starving so we decided to try this little spot. I didn't liked the smell of dirty rags once we got in but I decided to be brave and give them a try. We ordered the beef pho and they where a good big portion a super flavorful the only drawback is that we found a hair in a piece of tendon. I told the waiter and she said that it happens even when they wash everything and mentioned that her dad (the cook) is very old. Anyways I don't think I'll be back after that experience. read more
