10. Bun Thit Xao (Lemongrass Beef Vermicelli Bowl)
Chelsea J.

I was not a big fan of the food here. The shrimp spring rolls were pretty good, and the peanut sauce was delicious. The #8 was mostly noodles and only had 3 shrimp and very little pork. The lemongrass beef bun was made with shaved steak from the grocery store, no flavor and overcooked. The only winner here was the pho with rare steak. Service was ok. I'd go back for the spring rolls and pho but avoid the other items.

Very decent authentic Vietnamese food. I enjoyed the beef pho and couldn't resist a barbecue pork banh mi sandwich. Too much food! But worth it.

Best Vietnamese food in Tucson by far. Typical small family run business with prompt service. I would recommend this over Miss Saigon any day of the week. Highlights include banh bao, bun Bo hue, and their pho.

Took my big sister to az, to visit my sister in tucson. Came here wanted to try this place out. They had varieties of rice noodle bowl, rice plate, etc. Service was awesome very friendly and nice, kind people that work there. Ambience is ok but they should not play Vietnamese song so loud. But their clean better then other pho place I go to. I highly recommended this place to go.

Rice platter, meh not worth the money

I normally give mom and pop shops two tries before leaving a review, but I will not be wasting money here. Staff wasnt attentive and rude, besides the younger gal that was working, she was sub part at best. We ordered the deluxe medium pho, and the deluxe rice platter , no clue what it's called as well as spring rolls and egg rolls. Our spring rolls were tiny compared to other places I'm used to, on top of extremely watery peanut dipping sauce. Our egg rolls came with sweet chili sauce which isn't the norm for most authentic places, and our spring rolls were pathetic looking, mangled and had barely any meat. Definitely didn't look like what others got in these yelp pictures. Also tasted old. My sons deluxe pho he enjoyed at first , broth was okay, had a decent amount of meat but not for $15. The noodles tasted very stale and old , and broken up into small pieces and clumped. We've had enough pho in our lives to know that's not what fresher vendor bought noodles are supposed to look or taste like. Then to top it all off he found hair in his food , but didn't tell me. Because I was already upset that there was hair and egg shells in my one fried egg. I get egg shells happen , but two hairs in two main dishes. Come on. My rice platter , the nước chấm was a bit spicy to my surprise but I did enjoy that. The shrimp paste thing was maybe freezer burned because it had a bad taste to it and they only gave you have a piece, which in this case I guess was a good thing. The pork chop I will say was delicious, although I wish it had more meat and less fat and gristle. We already talked about the egg... And the rice didn't taste starchy so atleast they clean their rice. Cost me $50 or so before tip, and honestly it was the first establishment where I didn't want to tip but still did. I am surprised by all the great reviews , maybe people in Tucson don't know what good Viet food actually tastes like...

Bun Gao Xao Chay/ Vegetarian Stir Fry Noodles

I was hungry after my appointment at TMC and found this restaurant nearby and so glad I did! I tried Bun Gao Xao Chay/ Vegetarian Stir Fry Noodles for the first time and it was really yummy! Good portion as well. Service was really good even though the restaurant got quite busy. Unfortunately this is pretty far from where I live but I will make this my go-to, everytime I go to TMC!

Loved this place! My husband loves pho and I prefer less or no broth. This place is perfect for us. He ordered the Pho Doc Biet and said it's the best pho he's ever eaten. I ordered the Vermicelli Noodle Bowl with Lemongrass Beef - it was amazing - so light and full of flavor. The egg rolls were definitely made in house and cooked to perfection. This is a locally owned family run restaurant. Their dedication to good food is apparent from the first bite. Our food came out incredibly fast and the staff was so pleasant. The restaurant is casual and clean. If you want great food and quick - give this place a shot!

Pho Deluxe and Banh Xeo
Edlyn W.

My fiance and I are newly exploring Tucson, and coming from Orange County, the mecca of Vietnamese food, we really wanted to check out the pho here. He got the Deluxe Pho and I got the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese Savory Crepe). The pho broth is slightly different, I can't seem to put a finger on what it is, but it definitely hit the spot. It was warm and comforting, and the veggie accoutrements were fresh and clean. The Banh Xeo came out sooo crispy, but the batter itself was a little bland. But it kind of works with the delicious fish sauce. Friendly staff and spacious shop too! There are so many other things on the menu that I want to check out.

Visited Pho Ngan again this week. How nice to have a yummy Asian place open on Monday! When entering the restaurant, the deliciously intense fragrance of pho assails the nose; not ordering the pho would be insane. The diner is invited to customize the ingredients. This time I had beef broth, brisket, bok choy, with bean sprouts, jalapeños, and cilantro. It was savory and slightly spicy and thoroughly enjoyable. My friend had a vegetarian stir fry with noodles that she enjoyed. We also chose the mini crispy shrimp crepes to share and they were delightful! Happily, we both took home to-go containers with leftovers for the next day.

Chicken 1. Build Your Own Pho

My daughter and I tried Pho Ngan for the first time. I really appreciated having full size condiments. Every other pho place since Covid gives u a small side of the Hoisin/Sriracha and I always have to ask for extra at each visit. So having it there was awesome! The build your own Pho was perfect. They give u a lot of onions which is a plus and enough limes! Again the other places give you a piece per bowl it seems. The taste of the broth i have to say was not as flavorful as i would like unfortunately but it still tasted okay. There was enough tables which was nice and we had the option to sit where we wanted. My daughter described it as a place we'd eat at again if we are nearby but not a place she can't wait to go back to. Service was quick and food was brought out quickly but the waiter only checked on us once at the very end of our meal.

How does this place compare 2 other Vietnamese restaurants in Tucson: price, quality & variety?

I don't know the other restaurants, but this was recommended to me by local Vietnamese. I can attest that the Pho broth was outstanding. I had discussions with the owner, and it made the old way by boiling beef bones overnight and adding fresh… Read more

There are several different condiments, extra napkins, and utensils already on the table for your convenience. Our food arrived quickly and both items had such depth of flavor! The rice noodles with scallion oil came with onions wrapped in beef and grilled, something we had never tried before but were just as good as it sounds. The pho broth also clearly had been simmering for hours. It was dark and rich in flavor while the veggies were still crisp and fresh. For living in central Tucson, this place is definitely worth the 20 minute drive!

We were almost immediately seated at the table in the back of the restaurant to the left as you walk in at the table between the wall and the cut out in the wall that opened into the kitchen. The table being behind the wall was just a nice little private area and the wall really helped canceling some of the noise so we really enjoyed where we were seated. Handed menus and left us to see what we wanted. The server came back shortly and took our drink order and went off to fill that while we continued to study the menu, but she' shortly returned to get our lunch order. We got one order of the number eight Fried eggroll appetizer and wifey got the number one bowl of pho while I got the number 47 beef chicken and shrimp stirfry over egg noodles. It was funny that the server then asked us if we wanted one check or two checks. I don't know exactly why she asked that but her English wasn't terribly good. Of course, my Vietnamese isn't any better. But we eventually figured out that she was just curious as to whether we really wanted one or two checks. So I told her we would just take one check for lunch today. After a few minutes, a lady who we believe was the owner brought us out our plate of egg rolls with all of the sides on the plate and I have to tell you that the egg rolls were absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed them. A few minutes later, our server brought out first the bowl of pho for my wife, and then quickly followed with my plate of stirfry. The food was quite good. The service was fast and efficient and I was happy to say that we really enjoyed our lunch here this afternoon and we look forward to coming back again.

Finally found my people…read more Walking in here honestly felt like a little hub of my Vietnamese culture. Easily the most Vietnamese I've seen in a crowd at a restaurant in Tucson, which says a lot about the authenticity. I ordered the veggie pho and it absolutely hit the spot. Clean, flavorful broth, fresh toppings, and that comforting "pho therapy" vibe you just can't fake. The menu has great variety (hello boba options ), and everything felt casual, welcoming, and community-driven. If you're craving legit Vietnamese comfort food -- especially good pho with real flavor -- this one's worth the stop. I'll definitely be back.

My first experience was when my best friend door dashed me an order on my birthday when I was sick. Let me tell you the Phô hits the spot when you're not feeling well. I have stopped in two other times and both have been great experiences. The large Phô was more than enough to fill me up. (6'3", 250), added with a boba tea made my experience that much more enjoyable. Now, for those who are concerned about MSG, take the time to do a little research. It's about as rare as celiac disease.... Everyone claims to have it. Can it be an intolerance, sure as with anything, but our body uses sodium physiologically and the other part is an amino acid that naturally occurs as well. That amino acid is derived from vegetables. So I call BS, but whatever. Monosodium glutamate (MSG) and sodium chloride (NaCl, table salt) differ primarily in their chemical structure and sodium concentration. MSG is a salt of sodium and glutamic acid (an amino acid) containing ~12-14% sodium, while NaCl is a compound of sodium and chloride containing ~39-40% sodium. MSG provides umami taste, whereas NaCl provides saltiness.  Key Chemical Differences: Chemical Formula and Structure: NaCl: A simple ionic compound, with a cubic crystal structure. MSG: A salt of glutamic acid. (monosodium glutamate hydrate), which contains a sodium ion and a glutamate molecule. Sodium Content: MSG has roughly two-thirds less sodium by weight compared to table salt. Production/Source:NaCl: Obtained through mining or evaporation of seawater.MSG: Produced through the fermentation of starches, sugar beets, or sugarcane. Flavor Profile: NaCl provides a purely salty taste. MSG triggers the umami (savory) taste receptor, enhancing flavor without high sodium levels. Appearance: Both are white, crystalline, but MSG crystals are often longer/prismatic (like "mini snowflakes") while table salt is often granular or cubic.  Impact in Cooking:While both enhance flavor, they function differently. MSG adds savory depth (umami), while salt provides salinity. Due to lower sodium levels, MSG is sometimes used to reduce total sodium intake in food, providing savory flavor without excessive sodium.  So Newton Pho.... Keep serving up your yummy goodness. I appreciate it!!!
