Recently went to Ha Long Bay on a weekend morning and had a great experience! We were the only customers at first, so we got seated right away and our food came out quickly, though customers started to trickle in shortly after. I ordered the Pho Ha Long Bay Special, the combination pho, and it was delicious. The broth was deep and flavorful, perfect for a cold day, the noodles were perfectly chewy, and they didn't include many green toppings, which is how I prefer it. However, despite it being the combo bowl, the portion felt a bit small, especially since there was very little tendon or tripe even though the dish cost extra. Portion size aside, the customer service was friendly and had a warm, family-like feel. I'm happy to have found a local Vietnamese restaurant and would gladly come back again! read more

I have to judge this place knowing that I live next to Little Saigon in California. Unfortunately nothing really stands out, but it is decent Vietnamese food in a land where there isn't much Vietnamese food to begin with. The crispy tofu appetizer was really good. One of the top 2 dishes of the night. The Bun Bo Hue was kind of a let down. Definitely geared to a clientele that doesn't like hocks or other cuts of 'exotic' meat. The broth was decent, but not authentic. But just bo vien, brisket, and steak to me, isn't bun no hue. Was also missing red cabbage as a topping, and they used pho noodles. The Bo Luc Lac was just OK. A tad on the dry side, however flavor was decent. Saving grace was the crispy fried noodle. Though a bit more protein would be nice over celery/carrots/bamboo. This was the best item we had. Pho looked ok. My family liked it, however I'm not a big tofu/vegetable pho guy. All in all this is my brother's family's favorite place to get Vietnamese food, and my search on Yelp really doesn't yield anything else. I enjoy their vietnamese hot and sour soup (it's more of sweet and sour- Canh Chua) the broth is vegetarian and vegan by default so when ordered with tofu it's a vegetarian and vegan dish. It comes with rice noodles on the side. The tofu is not fried and they charge an extra dollar to serve it with fried tofu. It has elephant ear stalk plant , bac ha, a type of taro stem, in it like traditional Canh Chua which I love. read more

I love this place! I have come here twice for their summer rolls. They normally have pork and shrimp in them but they're willing to make them without pork. That means they're made fresh! Delicious and authentic! We visited for a late dinner, near closing. The server was one of the kindest encounters we've had, and she was also helpful with recommendations. Definitely want to start by recommending the pho! We ordered a cup on the side and wow, so flavorful, I can only imagine what the full pho is like. I look forward to ordering this again. Of note, if you like the bean sprouts, jalapeño, and mint, the cup doesn't include it so you'll have to order separately. My other favorite thing was the peanut sauce for the garden rolls. I was looking forward to this lunch but was disappointed by the unflavorful food. The pho broth was uncharacteristically sweet. The lemongrass pork bun and iced Vietnamese coffee were OK. The Thai tea was good however the boba was very mushy and not good so I do not recommend the boba in the Thai tea - just get the tea by itself. I was disappointed about the lack of changing stations in both bathrooms- what are customers with babies supposed to do? Nice Vietnamese restaurant on the Eastside. I had the chicken with mixed vegetables. It was lite and fresh with little spice in the Vietnamese style. They provide three sauces to spice things up. Wanted to try a different spot (should just stick with Com Tam). This spot is great (in service) but that's about all that it's got going for. This is what I would consider "Americanized" pho. Nothing wrong with that if you like the flavor. Just doesn't do it for me. And like other reviews already mentioned, there isn't much taste. It's almost like you have to mix it with something (for example, Summer rolls, the peanut sauce is good) I always add hot sauce to the mix. The pho (I got the #12, supposed to be their signature pho) I don't even know where to begin. Portion size is small, like they used a shrink gun on all the ingredients. From the tiny meatballs, to the super thin sliced meat. I would consider their "normal" size is more like extra small. Even the veggies (bean sprouts, etc.) are served on a small and tiny plate. I'm surprised they didn't give you a tiny fork to go with the bowl (And yes you have to ask for chopsticks) As for the ambiance, it's nicely decorated. Especially the booth tables, very unique. The other plus (if you can call it that) is their super giant custom menu. Seems like they spent most of their investments in decorations instead on the food which is more important IMO. read more

I have been going here since 2022. You cannot beat the food and the prices. Never had a bad experience. The PHO is to die for and I always order it. They always include a fresh lemon into your water which is a nice gesture. Their summer rolls and peanut sauce is amazing. Plus, the waitress and the staff are always accommodating and nice. PS: when this restaurant always has local people who come 1-3 times a week to eat, then the place is probably very very good. We come here after hiking at Sabino sometimes. Nice selection of food. I got soup and it was fine a little too sweet for me. My friend got a fish dish that was delicious! Bun was fine but not as good as other place in town. Overall food is fine not the best vietnamese in town. Service was excellent. Clean bathrooms. Yummy thai iced tea. We went to the Ha Long Bay partly because we have been there on a cruise to Viet Nam and partly because of ratings. The atmosphere is very nice and the service was great. A revisit says that it's as good as when we first went. I really like their tofu dishes, and had fried tofu with peanut sauce. It was enough for two meals. What a wonderful restaurant! As soon as I walked in I was transformed back to Vietnam by the paintings on the wall of Ha Long Bay. What a great ambiance I felt like this was the place for authentic food. The service was fantastic. Things were explained to my friends that weren't familiar with the menu. I ordered a Thai Tea with boba and it was fantastic. The tea wasn't overly sweet which was greatly appreciated. We all ordered a version of the bun noodles. I had chicken and they had vegetables and tofu. It came out with the sauce seasoning on the side. We could also spice it up if needed with chili sauce, siracha or hoisin sauce. The lunch portion was a perfect size and the taste was a work deal combination of flavors that melded so well in your mouth. We didn't do dessert but I may have to leave room next time and see if they have mango sticky rice. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I'd say their vegetarian options are mainly ok, not great, but if you live in the area, it's worth a try. Here's what I thought was ok or good: Garden rolls with peanut sauce Vegetable deluxe Tofu with peanuts (and veg) Veg fried rice Garlic broccoli with tofu Mango boba (it's a sweet juice) Thai tea Here's what I thought wasn't good: Fried tofu with vegetables (didn't like the flavor of the sauce) Tofu soup with veg (found piece of chicken in it)--it's actually made with chicken broth! I only learned that they use chicken broth when I spoke to a staff member before ordering the soup a second time. Green beans garlic with tofu (small portion and arrived cold) Soft noodles with vegetables (ok, not great, not enough veg) Honeydew boba (too mild) Coconut boba (not good) Also, the boba pearls are inconsistent at this place Apparently their one soup that has vegan broth is a little spicy with tamarind, pineapple, tomato. Great restaurant off of Tanque Verde. The interior is cozy and provides a warm ambiance. I was a little worried about the service from previous reviews, but last night was perfectly fine - courteous and nice.
