Was in the area on a business trip, and found this place on yelp. Ordered the pho dac biet and an order of shrimp spring rolls. Soup for the dac biet was a bit on the lighter side, but there were plenty of ingredients and lots of pho noodles. The shrimp spring rolls were HUGE, and it paired perfectly with the provide peanut sauce. Good service and good pricing considering the area. However the restaurant is a bit hidden in the corner of the plaza, but can also be accessed through the next door Asian supermarket (Lee Lee International Supermarket). My favorite Vietnamese food in Tucson in terms of the food itself. My favorites here: #16 Seasoned Julienned taro root with vermicelli noodles, pickled daikon and the typical vietnamese herbs etc and sweet soy sauce. It comes with fried tofu typically but they let you exchange the tofu with a couple of their delicious vietnamese crispy rice paper egg rolls that are stuffed with deliciously seasoned tofu (#14 on the menu) and that's my favorite way to order it. Mixing all of it together is heaven. This is by far my favorite here! I find that I generally really like taro- all parts of the plant! The root as served in this restaurant and in Thai desserts, the leaves in filipino laing and the stalk (elephant ear stalk) in vietnamese Canh Chua soup. #20 Fried rice noodles dish (ask for the crispy option!) . This one became quite expensive recently but when I had it in the past it was delicious. Definitely get the crispy version! #14: Those vietnamese crispy rice paper egg rolls that are stuffed with deliciously seasoned tofu are so good. They let you get them a la carte but the full plate comes with the sauce and herbs. I get them as part of #16 as described above so it has the sauce and herbs in that dish as well. I really love that they have a vegetarian and vegan menu and that they have the vegan sweet soy sauce available in place of fish sauce for that menu. The restaurant is attached to Lee Lee international supermarket which is an absolute must visit in my opinion for international food lovers and people who want to learn about world cuisines. It's a great place to find international ingredients that are not easily found elsewhere. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. This restaurant really speaks to what family and generational recipes can do for a restaurant. When we walked in after shopping at the international market next door, we were seated right away. There are several different condiments, extra napkins, and utensils already on the table for your convenience. Our food arrived quickly and both items had such depth of flavor! The rice noodles with scallion oil came with onions wrapped in beef and grilled, something we had never tried before but were just as good as it sounds. The pho broth also clearly had been simmering for hours. It was dark and rich in flavor while the veggies were still crisp and fresh. Staff was friendly and helpful. They have a big menu. Located inside or directly outside of Lee Lees grocery store. Good food the pho bowls were a nice serving size. The broth was good. My husband had the number nine with shrimp and I had the pho with shrimp, calamari, fish. It came with a lot of fish and calamari. I think it was number 12. We also had the spring roll but requested no pork and that was good too my husband like that sauce on it better than some other places, it wasn't a traditional peanut sauce. read more

After about two years we were, again, at Lee Lees for some shopping. Afterwards we came here for a late lunch and to see how things were going. We were almost immediately seated at the table in the back of the restaurant to the left as you walk in at the table between the wall and the cut out in the wall that opened into the kitchen. The table being behind the wall was just a nice little private area and the wall really helped canceling some of the noise so we really enjoyed where we were seated. Handed menus and left us to see what we wanted. The server came back shortly and took our drink order and went off to fill that while we continued to study the menu, but she' shortly returned to get our lunch order. We got one order of the number eight Fried eggroll appetizer and wifey got the number one bowl of pho while I got the number 47 beef chicken and shrimp stirfry over egg noodles. It was funny that the server then asked us if we wanted one check or two checks. I don't know exactly why she asked that but her English wasn't terribly good. Of course, my Vietnamese isn't any better. But we eventually figured out that she was just curious as to whether we really wanted one or two checks. So I told her we would just take one check for lunch today. After a few minutes, a lady who we believe was the owner brought us out our plate of egg rolls with all of the sides on the plate and I have to tell you that the egg rolls were absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed them. A few minutes later, our server brought out first the bowl of pho for my wife, and then quickly followed with my plate of stirfry. The food was quite good. The service was fast and efficient and I was happy to say that we really enjoyed our lunch here this afternoon and we look forward to coming back again. read more

No-frills, family-owned Vietnamese restaurant to the rescue! Love that this place is right next to the Lee Lee market as well. Ordered two bowls of pho and the portions were good. I've tried this place once before and I was really happy the last time I got it ; there's one person taking care of all the tables and it's an older man. He's probably about 90 years old and still getting around, God bless him. But if you need something, you have to make sure that you say everything that you need otherwise you may not be visited at your table again. I love when you bite into the role how crunchy it is because the lettuce is so crisp! I think mine had a piece of a eggroll accidentally rolled into it because it had some crunch which I've never seen. I don't mind. It was just kind of a funny surprise. I ended up ordering the eggrolls also (which are also known as cha gio) I ordered two probably because I'm addicted to them, but I don't wanna eat them if they don't have all the veggies that come along side them, which includes Romaine, mint, and usually daikon or carrot with the most delicious fish sauce. Again, if it doesn't have fish sauce, I don't want it! After placing the order for only two I got them naked!! The rice paper they must use for the rolls is different from what I've seen in the past because they were really fried to a crisp. I ended up having to place an order for the entire quantity of five ( $11.99 )in order to get my vegetables and fish sauce. I guess it's worth it. I'll be eating it for the next couple days. I got my usual Com Tam Thit Nguog and it was DEVIIIIINNNNEEEE! The best was so soft, slightly sweet bbq, mildly seasoned to perfection! Then it came out somewhat usual, but there were some additional things on it. I think it's chicken. Oh, it's the shrimp bean paste! Mystery solved! Tasty mystery! I'm not sure how I never knew about this place. It's next to Lee Lee Market Orange Grove and La Cholla. Walking in, the place is well lit and looked clean. We were greeted immediately and seated. The greeter gave us menus, then came back about 5 minutes later with water and to take our order. We were no where ready to order (the menu is huge). Another server came back and took our order: spring rolls, shrimp Pho (for me) ad shrimp with vermicelli (for friend). The spring rolls were served with a peanut sauce and were huge and delicious. My Pho had a lot a shrimp in it and the side serving of bean sprouts, basil, lime and jalapeños was just the right amount. The Pho had the perfect ratio of broth to noodles and shrimp. Friend's shrimp (it's a cold salad) was delicious and was served with fish sauce. I'm looking forward to returning to Com Tam. read more

I had really high hopes for this restaurant because it's often very busy, has an authentic ambiance and smells good. Unfortunately my pho broth was so salty with little additional flavor. The way I judge the quality of pho is by first sipping the broth. It was so salty and not at all the classic depth and savory flavors I associate with pho. It was extremely disappointing. I've gone by this place so many times and finally went for lunch today. Service was great. The lady working was bubbly and friendly. The elderly gentleman that was serving amazed me at how much he was able to do, he looked at least 80. We started with #2, shrimp and pork spring rolls. The perfect summer food, very light and fresh. I had #77 with beef and it was the best bun I've ever had. The beef was tender and a tad sweet, very very flavorful. I loved the shrimp egg rolls that came with it. The clear noodle soup broth was decent and clean, had shrimp and meat. The broken rice dish is what they are known for but the bbq meat was really chewy and didn't have the char taste, it was rubbery. For the price, I can't complain but the quality was not there. The name on the sign outside is not the same as shown here or anywhere else. The website looks very professional and delicious, yet the annoying advertising that plagues it is a 100% distraction. The food was authentic and good but I've had better. Usually the pho is served with plenty of fresh basil, lime etc but here I got a scant portion. Don't get me wrong it was good but not great. I showed up shortly after 11am to place a take-out order. I think it took about 20 minutes for my order to be fulfilled. All the components to my bun were fresh and everything tasted as it should. The grilled meat was flavorful, but a little bit overcooked. I loved the fried spring rolls, I only wished they were bigger and more than two. My next visit, I'll place a side order. There was a slight language barrier, but nothing serious. They're nice people and try to be as accommodating as possible. The restaurant appeared clean. Whenever I shop at Lee Lee's, I consider going to Com Tam Thuan Kieu. My favorite dish is the pork sausage spring rolls (#3). The spring rolls are delicious, and each includes a large pork sausage and crispy fried wonton dipped in savory peanut sauce. Another dish I frequently order is the rice vermicelli patty plate (#81), which has an excellent variety of food items. I particularly enjoy the crispy pork egg rolls and shrimp paste wrapped in tofu skin. If I feel like a refreshing treat, the chè is an iced assortment of fruit, jellies, and sweetened beans in creamy coconut milk. Although the food is excellent here, the service is no-frills and lacks warmth. Sometimes, I do not receive a greeting, and servers drop off food without saying a word.
