Pho sate
Meg C.

The name of this place is a bit misleading, as the food definitely leans more Thai, which influences their pho offering. I had the pho sate, and while it was huge spicy bowl of soup and noodles, it did not really taste like pho to me. It was lacking the beefy depth of flavor and it was heavy handed on the cinnamon / clove aromatics. All of the beef was quite chewy and the noodles broke apart easily, so unfortunately I didn't finish the bowl. Service was nice and very prompt, and the space is a cozy no frills home, but I wouldn't come back here for pho.

A lovely hidden gem with great food! Came on a weekday and were seated immediately. I got a thai tea to start and shared scallion pancake. I loved my drink- not too sweet with a strong tea flavor. The green curry sauce with the pancakes was amazing. My tom yum soup with the prawn was delicious! Hot and sour with juicy prawns and the nice flair of coming with a flame! I loved my meal, and have been raving about this place to others

Pho Thai

It's not very good. I ordered a Pho Thai and I believe there's too much MSG. But the price is beautiful it only costs me 14.9. Service is also good.

I had a sudden urge for pho. Fortunately, I found out about Pho 'n Rice and promptly walked over for dinner. Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted and seated. Unfortunately, the speed of service somewhat slowed after I took my seat. Despite the restaurant being far from full, I waited awhile before someone took my order; I waited even longer for them to prepare my food. Nevertheless, the food here is worth the wait. The pho broth was rich in flavor and complemented the meat and noodles. In terms of portion size, I was surprised that they gave me a hearty portion of meat and quite a lot of noodles. Overall, the service here can be spotty, but the food here is definitely worth the wait.

Really great Thai food, huge portions and low prices. Love this little hole in the wall with authentic, classic Thai dishes. Their Kaprow and their spicy basil pad Thai are both exceptional. Good for dine in and take out. Highly recommend!!

The food is absolutely amazing, and the vibe with Thai music makes me feel like I am in Thailand. As a Thai person, I can say that every dish they serve is just like what I eat in Thailand. I love the crab fried rice; the taste is authentic and there is a lot of crab. I asked the server, and they told me they took over this place in April 2024. After taking over, they changed the menu and the chef. This place is one of the best Thai restaurants. Once I visit Boston again, I will definitely come back to this place 100%!

Shrimp watercress soup

We ordered the scallion pancake with curry sauce, the shrimp watercress soup, the crab fried rice, the kra pow ga kai, and the seafood green curry. Food overall was excellent; large quantity for the price, but also good quality thai food. My wife and I thought the soup, the rice and the curry were all top tier for the boston area. My wife has been to thailand, and we have also tried thai food in SF, LA, NYC and Boston, and this place was one of the best we have tried. Service was also great; despite managing many tables, our waitress was very attentive and handled our many requests quickly. Definitely would go again!

Spicy Tofu lunch plate

I came in during lunch special hours, so I was served lunch portions. The ingredients and menu items are as you'd expect for Thai and Viet cuisine. Service was really friendly, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. For my lunch meal, I was served a complimentary side soup and salad, which tasted heavenly on a cold day. Judging by the responses of the other patrons, the soup definitely seemed to have stolen the show. This is a great place to stop by for a weekday lunch, all for a very reasonable price relative to the area it's in!

I've been coming here for a few years now. Really solid Vietnamese food and friendly service. I usually get the Dac Biet Pho, which is one of the best in the Camberville area IMO. The broth is deliciously flavorful, as a good pho broth should be.

My go to takeout order here is a Goi salad with tofu and drunken noodles with tofu. Pretty much the largest and healthiest yummy takeout order you can get in this neighborhood for a total of 20 bucks before tax/tip. And ready in 15 minutes!

The worst Vietnamese food I've ever had, out of the 50+ Vietnamese restaurants I've dined in in the USA and Vietnam. We were craving pho, vermicelli, and soup for our family and saw good ratings for this restaurant, so ended up ordering dinner for 10+ individuals. Each person was left unhappy, with more to desire. The pho dishes come out to approximately $16/per person with vegetables, but are skimpy. There was very little protein compared to the amount of protein you'd typically get for a pho dish. There were several vegetarian soups with catfish and shrimp that we ordered and both had 1 piece of shrimp. Yup, one piece. That was confusing because it felt like they forgot to put in the protein we paid extra for, but somehow remember to put in one piece. Furthermore, the broth in the beef and vegetarian dishes tasted and smelled like wet socks. The appetizers were the only good part of the order. I personally liked the calamari. Overall, definitely would not recommend. No clue what they're doing at this restaurant to have let us down with 10+ different entrees.

Service was friendly and helpful, we got everything we needed and within a reasonable time. For appetizers we ordered the banh khot which were tasty and crispy, the shrimp tasted fresh. The meat included in the platter were all deliciously flavored and cooked nicely. It came with fresh lettuce and herbs to pair with the meat. Our table also ordered a clay pot catfish which was caramelized in a tasty sauce that paired perfectly with the plain white rice. Overall, this is a good place for a meal with family or friends. I have friends who tell me, "You could just make those spring rolls yourself, you know..."…read more Lies. (I've tried. They tasted like sadness.) The ones from Banh Mi Cafe are enormous, sooo fresh, and exactly what I wish mine tasted like. Both the fish sauce and the peanut sauce are excellent, and when I need to bring something to a summer potluck but don't have time to cook, I just order six orders of spring rolls and suddenly everyone at the potluck is happy. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is also absolute jet fuel. It's my go-to whenever I need to work a late night. But the reason I'll always be loyal to Banh Mi Café has nothing to do with the food. ::IT'S STORYTIME:: One evening I developed an absolutely irrational craving for their avocado smoothie with boba. I spent the whole day thinking about it, finally placed an online order, and then got a phone call saying they had just run out. They apologized and offered a replacement or a refund. Instead, I asked them a weird question: "I know this is kind of crazy...but if you'll have avocado again on Saturday, could you just make this exact order then instead, and I'll come pick it up?" To my surprise, they said yes. A couple of days later, I picked up my avocado smoothie, my fresh spring rolls, and went home happy. Maybe it was more work than it was worth for the employee, maybe it wasn't; either way, they took an odd request seriously, and that's the kind of customer service that sticks with you. Beyond the spring rolls, I've also really enjoyed the nem chua, the cold cut banh mi (I wish the bread were a little softer, but the condiments and veggies are excellent), and the grilled beef wrapped in betel leaves, which I hadn't tried before and now LOVE. I still have a growing list of desserts to work through, including the flan. One thing to know before you go, regarding ambiance: this is more of a grab-and-go spot, not somewhere to settle in for lunch. There are only a few bar seats, so I almost always take my food with me, sometimes to the nearby park. There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants around Boston, and while I'll always happily try new ones, Banh Mi Cafe has earned my loyalty, one avocado smoothie at a time.

The inside is modern and bright, and it's great for either sitting down or grabbing takeout. You order through a kiosk, and sometimes the summer rolls aren't listed on it. I usually ask if they have any made that day, and I always grab one order if they do. They have great lunch specials from 11AM to 2PM that come with a drink. My go-to is the Banh Hoi Bowl with Crispy Pork Belly. The pork belly comes in huge chunks, and when you get those extra crispy pieces, it's a real treat. I'm still testing out the drinks to find my favorite, the Fresh Salty Limeade is a little too mild for me and the Passionfruit Jasmine Iced Tea is okay. Parking is easy, with spots right in front and wrapped around to the back in the lot they share with a clinic. Overall Service: The service here is always great, and everyone is friendly.
