Tasty but oh so expensive. I have the privilege of living near Boston and have options for pho and banhmi but for the Burlington area- I think this is a solid choice. This is the most expensive banhmi I have ever ordered and while tasty, it's not mind blowing. The pho was also good but for $25, I have complaints that the noodles were a bit over done and broke into small pieces when we got it. The service was quick- perfect for lunch during the middle of a work day and has enough seating to not need to wait. read more

That juicy pork rib!! So good! Whenever we want bah mi or pho we run to Viet Citron! The restaurante is located in a small shopping plaza with parking. When you walk in they have tablets where you can place your order. We were craving bah mi this time and got their pork rib bah mi with a side of crispy rolls. After placing the order we found seating and then waited for our food to be delivered to our table. It took a while to get our bah mi because they were pretty busy that night but it was so worth the wait! The pork was juicy, cooked perfectly and it was packed with flavor! Viet Citron is a family favorite. The food here is a step above what I expect for a casual restaurant. The pho soups and banh mi sandwiches are so tasty and, from my admittedly non-native palate, all made perfectly. The turmeric chicken is grilled to perfection and my picky toddler loves it. I have been to this place a few times now. I like the ambiance of the place. You can see the cooks preparing the items. I liked the phos I had there: the farm chicken pho and the beef pho. The beef pho was amazing. The beef broth had an amazing depth of the flavor. I guess the 48 hour cooking makes it so that all the flavors leech out into the deep dark broth. It was surprisingly packed with umami. The chicken pho, while not as deep in flavor, was warming and comforting. The meat in both these pho dishes were cooked perfectly. The noodles were good too. I was mostly a fan of the beef broth. I also tried their fried pork belly banh mi. That is one rich dish. The skin was crackling and the meat was moist. The banh mi bread and the sweet pickled vegetables paired well with the pork belly, helping cut through the fat. All in all, you should give this place a shot. read more

My sister says this is one of her favorite places to grab pho on a weekly basis, staying brand loyal even after a move. We were all feeling like we needed a warm bowl of noodle soup, so we finally took her up on the recommendation. The small restaurant was busy when we walked in. There's a main table for a larger group & several smaller tables around it as well as in the back/side of the order counter. We chose one of the side tables so could see the staff putting together takeout or delivery orders and bringing dishes to in-store patrons. I got the everything pho (pho dac biet). I thought it was a perfect portion size (usually they are so large it's intimidating) & had a good amount of meat, as well as yummy broth but I wouldn't say it's my best bowl. We went to Viet Citron at the Bow Market this past weekend since the weather was so nice. We got the chicken banh mi and the banh hoi bowl with sirloin. The meats were seasoned well and very tender. The staff were very nice, and we were able to order from a kiosk. The staff answered our questions and were very helpful. I really liked seeing the Vietnamese aunties outside wrapping spring rolls. Was happy to support them. The food is good quality, but a little on the pricey side for Vietnamese food. At the Bow Market location, seating is limited inside and depending on how busy it is outside, might also be limited. It's a very nice ambiance though when it's nice weather. I grew up in SoCal and grew up eating very authentic viet food. Banh hoi is pretty hard to find in the US, and I actually haven't seen it anywhere besides California! My boyfriend and I split the banh hoi with crispy pork belly and the banh mi with sirloin. The banh hoi was delicious and filling, pretty much on par with the banh hoi I've had in california. The pork belly was perfectly crispy and juicy. It was also still refreshing and not too heavy because of the fish sauce. The banh mi was also really good, since the beef was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was on the pricier side, so if you were to just get one item from here, def try the banh hoi! read more

It was so strong I could've split it into two cups and diluted it and it still would've tasted fine. The banh mi was also great! Definitely not super authentic as there was no pate, but that's what I prefer so I didn't mind. The portion size was huge and the meat was grilled perfectly. Traveling through Burlington, and I heard a banh mi calling me from this often talked about, family-owned Vietnamese spot. Fortunately for me, it was conveniently located off the highway. Unfortunately for me, it was a sunny Friday and many others had the same idea. No matter -- Viet Citron's open kitchen concept allowed me to peer into the preparation. One of the chefs wielded an enormous cleaver and was chopping away at meats coming off the grill. Others were buzzing around between the fryer, beverage maker and prepping to-go orders. What a well-oiled machine! What came to me were two giant sandwiches -- we had the lemongrass sirloin (with an au jus sauce) and big *ss chicken varieties. My bad not to expect huge from "big *ss chicken" ! -- although I began to wonder whether everything was just bigger in this place. Sandwiches were tasty, particularly the lemongrass flavor -- but I wanted a bit more -- more depth of flavor from the pickled vegetables and certainly more heat. Also a little pate wouldn't have hurt. If I am back in the area in the colder months (which is most of them in Boston), I'd love to try one of the great looking pho or even the bun bo hue (which is an underrated soup in my opinion). This place is one of those spots that are overhyped on instagram. The taste is 2-3 stars for me and the service is self which is bit annoying. The Brisket was tough and hardly able to chew completely. (Think tough rubber) either overcooked meat or CHEAP quality. The spring roll is overpriced for what you get, its mostly noodle and lettuce. BLAND and completely flavorless. BUT What i really didnt like was that the utencils are all plastic eating hot pho even the bowl. It just screams carcinogenic to me. Even the spring rolls are wrapped like crazy in seran wrap which kills me. Not only did i ingest crazy amount of plastic with my PHO and the spring rolls-each person makes sooo much trash( I Def dont recommend driving NOR walking to this restaurant) NOT WORTH IT unless you want to ingest loads of plastic :) yum ---------- Also on a side note: The owner is super sweet commenting on every negative review w his scoop of genuine sarcasm. Ordered my food "to go". They brought it out "for here". After he verified me,the customer being correct about my own order he took forever to pack it up and kept us waiting long enough for me to wonder what the hell was taking so long. So I walked up to the counter just in time to see the man packaging my food stop to sneeze in his gloveless hands and then proceed to finish packaging my food into box and into bag. They then allowed me to walk out perturbed with no remedy with the food he sneezed on. The dude did not have gloves. The dude did not stop to wash hands and have someone else complete task. They got everything right except for forgetting our boba in our thai tea. We shared an order of egg rolls and chicken banh mi. I tried their Phở Dặc Biệt while my sister got their plain pho. I really enjoyed the banh mi which had the fresh cilantro and vegetables on top of the marinated chicken. Egg rolls were still warm by the time they got to us so we quickly enjoyed them. The broth was seasoned well but not as clear as I would hope. There was a generous amount of beef especially flank included, almost too much for my preference. I am a SoCal native, I am Vietnamese and my hometown is Westminster, CA aka Little Saigon. So I know extremely delicious authentic Vietnamese food. I moved to Boston 3 years ago and have yet to find Vietnamese food that is comparable to back home. Viet Citron opened up in Union square in Somerville, MA where I first tried it. I had their Pho Dac Biet. Their broth is SO flavorful, fragrant, and perfect balance of seasoning and you can really taste the slow cooking. I was so impressed even though the price was a bit high ~18$. I saw on Yelp their OG location in Burlinginton and so when I was in the area, I made a visit. My husband and I tried their Beef rib pho ~25$ and added beef meatballs ~3$ and Thai tea ~6.25$. Ohhh it was just as good as the Union sq location, probbaly even better. The beef rib was falling off the bone tender, and the meatballs, tho sliced up, was huge. Their broth is again, up to par to what I can eat when back home in SoCal. I would say this is the only Vietnamese restaurant I have found so far that matches up to my standards for Vietnamese food/pho. DELICIOUS banh mis! The proteins were all cooked perfectly and topped with amazing sauces. We tried the chicken, steak, and pork banh mis and honestly all of them were amazing. The pork had crispy skin and was super juicy, the beef was cooked to a perfect medium, and the chicken was soft tender. I wouldn't say their banh mis are traditional, but they definitely have their flavors and cooking techniques down. The only caveat is the price. The base is $12 but when you add a protein it becomes $14-$18 for a banh mi! That's definitely the most expensive banh mi I've ever had. This is one of the few Vietnamese places I enjoy in the Boston area. I'm a huge fan of banh mi and their Vietnamese crispy pork belly banh mi is one of the best. Prices are pretty steep, however their ingredients are top notch so you get what you pay for (around the $16-18 range). Their pho is nothing to sleep on either and their broth is very good, again pricy but you get what you par for. My impression is that the owner takes much pride in their food and it's actually refreshing to see an Asian restaurant put a higher value in their food that it deserves. The restaurant is on the smaller side and I assume that it may get difficult finding parking and seating during the lunch or dinner rush. Restaurant is clean and customer are expected to bus their own tables when finished. The only thing that's a bit distracting are the announcements of their security system when the front door or back door is opening. Wish them much success! read more

I sat in there doing work for 1.5 hours and only got through a third of my drink. It was really strong, a standout characteristic of cafe phe sua da, but I thought it was a little on the milkier side similar to creamer milk and not condensed milk. I took a peek at their menu for their food items, and though a limited selection, looked and smelled great. They also have a kids menu that serves in smaller sizes for kids to branch out to try new things. Very very good pho, I didn't even have to add anything because it was so good. Beef shank- They have a lot of beef but who's complaining right? If you're a meat eater be sure to give the beef shank pho a try. The broth was just like the short rib where it wasn't overly oily and made very very well.
