I ordered this for lunch via a catering service. Because of this, I can't speak to the ambiance of the place but I can speak on the food, which I can say was delicious! I had the lemongrass chicken bowl. For such simple ingredients, it was packed with flavor! The portions are generous too. I would definitely order this again!
Casual and charming restaurant. Lots of great specials and honestly a hidden gem for good and cheap eats. Their Lemongrass Noodle Bowl was flavorful and refreshing. Their Lychee Lemonade was also good but it was 95% ice. Also they were playing Yesterday Once More by the Carpenters on repeat and I was there for a good two hours, which I thought was pretty funny.
What I'm discovering is that Cambridge and Somerville are no longer a bastion for the international food scene. Saigon Tiger presentation is 5 star. I will give them that. This Vietnamese food is a far cry from being the best in the state. I would personally rank it toward the bottom myself. Let's face it, things aren't getting any cheaper so you're going to be paying more for everything. The $15 dollar banh mi is common now. If you're paying that much it better be great. Being a huge fan of lemongrass, I was excited to try this sandwich. What I received felt more like a curry chicken thigh on a sandwich. Not a hint of fragrant lemongrass or fire grilled chicken. I left more than half of my Banh Mi and had to go eat elsewhere The Service was OK. Not bad. You bus your own table which is fine. But again I'm struggling with what tipping 20% is for these days when I'm doing half the work. Inside is quaint. But the windows are frosted so you can't even really see outside. I don't think I'll be back. There are way too many awesome Vietnamese restaurants in other areas.
Cute little spot right across from Davis Square station with about 25-30 seats. The menu is simple--apps, banh mi, vermicelli, and rice bowls. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but solid options. The Lemongrass chicken thighs were more flavorful than the crispy ones. There were no descriptions on the "fried egg rolls" and expected the traditional Vietnamese taro pork egg rolls but realized later it had a little V for vegetarian and was only a cabbage egg roll. Would skip next time. The dine-in experience could use some work. The table was so sticky I practically had to peel my phone off with a sound like velcro. Definitely made me think twice about resting my arms on it. I'll probably do takeout next time--food seems worth trying again, but I'd skip the dine-in experience. Food took over 30 minutes to come out when there was only 2 others table of 2 in the restaurant during 3:30pm.

My friend and I both got bahn mi sandwiches. I did the grilled chicken which was packed with flavor and juicy. The sandwiches were HUGE. Definitely a bang for your buck. It honestly could've been two servings if I wasn't famished when we went. We also ordered the bao buns. Was indecsive so did one beef and one pork. Both were delicious but I was a bigger fan of the pork bun. To drink, I got the spicy lemonade which was delicious. The drink had an incredible layering of flavors which honestly made me think "THIS is what I want from a mocktail". My friend got the vietnamese coffee which she thoroughly enjoyed. Great place for a quick bite or a longer sit down meal. I've noticed that it does get a bit busy around dinner time. Will definitely be back to try other menu items!
Pretty good, not life changing. Portions lean small. Food comes quick which I appreciate. Vibe is cute but not "nice" I'd say. Had the crispy chicken bowl and totally enjoyed it but am not desperate to return.
I got the bbq pork vermicelli bowl and it was so delicious!! And the ube coffee! Also really good! It's a really cute vibe inside- I was alone when I went so I chickened out of eating inside and got takeout but overall good food!
This place has the BEST cocktails I've had in Boston! We got the lychee martini and another spicy cocktail with chill oil and coconut milk. Both had such unique and delicious flavors and were reasonably priced at $14 each. Every dish we got was also delicious. The portion sizes weren't skimpy but also not huge, so we got a few dishes to share. Our favorites were: Grilled chicken banh mi. The chicken was tender and curry-flavored. It paired perfectly well with the vegetables, crispy baguette, and sauces of the sandwich. Grilled okra. Such delicious flavors and well-cooked. Tofu spring rolls. Soft, fresh, and paired perfectly with the peanut sauce it came with. Overall, this is such a great neighborhood spot with delicious food at affordable prices (all items under $15). The decor is casual but cute, and the staff is very kind and attentive to their jobs. I would definitely come back again to try more of their menu items!
Decided to check this place out after my doctor's appointment and I am so glad I did! Their Banh Mi is humongous! The Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi has marinated chicken thigh, pate, mayo, and a varieties of pickled veggies. I really like the marinated chicken thigh, it's very juicy and tender. I also asked for extra pate and extra mayo because it was very yummy! The baguette is also so big and nicely toasted. I think this is a great sandwich for the price and I would definitely get again. The service was nice and fast. The place is a bit small itself but very relaxed and cozy.
Came for dinner with two friends! Service was great, our waitress was very friendly and she even gave us a complimentary lemonade drink due to the longer wait (they were short-staffed that day). The crispy chicken was really delicious, but I wish the portion size was larger. The rice, bahn mi bread, radish, etc. were average. I've had better Vietnamese food in other places, but this is a great spot to grab a quick meal in a nice, cozy space.

Just be aware that it's more of a restaurant than a cafe! I got the ube vietnamese coffee latte, while my friend got the classic vietnamese latte. I liked my drink compared to other lattes I've had, even though I was a bit thrown off since ube is usually more purple than blue. However, I don't think the coffee tasted like vietnamese coffee, but more so like regular coffee.
Saigon Tiger, a new Vietnamese spot in Somerville, is one to try! I went on a Saturday morning with friends and were seated promptly. I tried the Vietnamese iced coffee, which was absolutely delicious--rich and flavorful from the condensed milk. I also got the lemongrass chicken noodle bowl and the flavors were outstanding, especially with the fish sauce. However, I did find the portions to be on the smaller side considering the price. Overall, Saigon Tiger offers great flavors and a pleasant dining experience, though the portion sizes could be more generous for the cost.
TLDR: good, fresh food. Not the hugest menu but you essentially get to pick amongst a noodle, rice, or banh mi style meal with different proteins. The proteins were incredibly tasty and tender. I didn't get to try the cocktails but they looked pretty fun. They also had child seats available. read more
Tried Saigon Tiger on a whim and found them a little disappointing. To start, their rice noodle bowl is so pricey for such a small bowl ($14), especially since it was just rice noodles with a few add-ins. Disappointing because their Lemongrass Chicken was delicious. Would say their Viet Coffee was actually terrible though. It was basically watered down Viet Coffee with a splash of condensed milk. Service was interesting to say the least. While the staff were polite and on top of checking all the tables, we did feel rushed to be honest. They were very quick to bring the check and seemed rather eager to rush us out as soon as the food was done. Strange, because they weren't particularly busy at that time either. read more

Met our son and daughter in law at Davis Square in Summerville for lunch. Plenty of options but we picked Saigon Tiger for food. We ordered and found a table in the sun (had our dog join us). Delicious food! I've visited and ordered delivery several times. Banh mi is stellar and a big portion. Side of fried rice is delicious, and the pork steamed buns are my favorite. Vietnamese coffee is great! Good prices. read more
First off, this place is adorable. It set my expectations a very high! We ordered the house muddled drinks, which were delicious- I highly recommend. But the food was really sub par. I ordered a crispy chicken lemon grass rice bowl and my friend ordered the tofu noodle bowl. The chicken just wasn't great quality- to the point that it was chewy and funky and distracting, even through the breading was great. My friend's tofu didn't have any flavor or much crispness. Both dishes were lacking in sauces and flavoring in general. We didn't try the bahn mi, so maybe that is a safer bet if you hoping for more Vietnamese type meal. read more

Very modernized take of vietnamese cuisine. The space was aesthetic as well as the plating and dishes. Great color and presentation. In terms of the taste, it was good but nothing too crazy in relation to the price. It was actually a little more on the pricey size in comparison to what you'd typically expect for viet food. If there was one thing i'd recommend to try, it's the coconut shrimp! read more
The prices are not cheap but the food is prepared very well. Of the "aesthetic" Vietnamese cafes I've tried in the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area outside of Dorchester, this spot has my favorite banh mi! We got the beef spring rolls ($8), lemongrass chicken banh mi ($13), BBQ pork banh mi ($13), and an iced coconut matcha coffee ($8). We got to try 3 different kinds of meat and I was impressed by all of them! I've never had beef spring rolls before and I was expecting the beef to be quite plain, but it had a really nice seasoning to it and was super tender. The lemongrass chicken had a strong lemongrass flavor and was on the saucier side so the lemongrass sauce soaked into the bread. The BBQ pork had the sweetest flavor out of the different meats we tried and I loved how smoky and juicy it was! The spring rolls and banh mi were packed with fresh veggies. The pate in the banh mi was rich and tasty. The coffee was quite pricey but came in a large cup. I was able to taste the coconut and matcha flavors, which complemented the coffee well. Even though they added condensed milk the coffee wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. I would definitely come back again. The banh mi are pretty hefty on their own so a single sandwich can be a meal by itself-- the 2 of us were pretty hungry when we came here and splitting both spring rolls and banh mi left us stuffed. I noticed that there are a lot of outlets near the tables. The windows are huge which allow a lot of natural light inside. read more
This place is fairly new and they are still ironing out some kinks... for a "fast casual" experience the food came out a bit slowly and the staff seemed stretched a bit thin, but this is completely normal when places are new and finding their cadence. I feel that these learning curves are expected for new establishments so I'm never bothered. The food was so fresh and tasty. I truly enjoyed the bahn mi, and the rice noodle salad we got was full of fresh veggies. I crunched away happily and left with a full, satisfied belly. The interior is cute... a bit modern/sparse, but clean. We will be back! read more

Solid BBQ pork banh mi - there was plenty of well seasoned pork with a good ratio to the fresh crunchy toppings. The bread was good too, with a light crunch on the outside and fluffiness on the inside. I was full and satisfied when I finished the sandwich. The Vietnamese iced coffee was strong, and while I liked it, it was a little pricey. Service was friendly and quick and the space is very clean and trendy. Clean-up is a self-bus situation, there are dish bins and a water/utensil/condiment station next to the ordering counter. I was happy to see they had Sriracha since it's hard to find rn. I was in Davis for an appointment so I thought Id grab lunch here before I left the area Pros: Cool vibe and decor. Easy online ordering. Deliciously seasoned lemongrass chicken on the noodle bowl. Nicely pickled veggies. Cons: $16!! for the lemongrass noodle bowl that had hardly any food in it.... A few ounces of chicken, a spoonful of pickled shredded carrots and daikon, a couple leaves of greens and three paper thin slices of cucumber.... and some bean thread noodle which costs them zilch. No pleasantries from the counter staff which came off as cold and weird. I thanked them with a smile and the woman didnt say anything or react... she just turned away and started working on something else. Weird. read more
I wanted to like this place because I normally love Vietnamese food and it would've been really nice to have another solid Asian restaurant in Davis. So that's probably why I felt more disappointed at the mediocre food. Everything else - the decor and service - was great! They seem to be going for a very mid-century modern meets urban Asian eatery vibe which would normally/probably be well-received by most Cambervillians. And our server was very attentive and friendly too. All that said, the meat (both chicken and pork) was pretty fatty, the noodles were stringy and dry, and the portions were smaller than we expected. And especially given that there are restaurants nearby with better food and portions (even if older decor, which has its own charm), it's hard to say if I'd return other than to maybeee give it another try with their bahn mi. read more

SO GOOD. Super cute restaurant with great service! We loved our lemongrass chicken bowl. Every bite was super flavorful and the greens & veggies were super fresh. We really enjoyed our chat with our waiter and the tunes were on point. Highly recommend! read more
Saigon Tiger is a fresh Vietnamese restaurant in Davis, recently just opened on Lunar New Year (Jan 22,2023). I walk by this area a lot and to be honest I did not notice this restaurant until a couple weeks ago. Finally decided to give it a shot today - and let me tell you... Probably the best banh mi I've had. The bread texture is perfect - it does not compare to typical banh mis which are either too soft, or too hard. They chose their bread perfectly. As for the flavor, amazing. I could not ask for anything more and would come back for lunch. I also had the BBQ pork rice bowl - wow. Perfect combination of savor, sweetness, and herbal. Tenderness of the meat, crunchiness of the veggies, the flavorful medium of the rice (its not just a regular white rice!). I don't want to spoil it too much, you have to try it out yourself. Im so glad they opened this restaurant in Davis. read more

I ordered the Banh Mi with Pork and it was decent and nothing phenomenal. It definitely does not compared to the Banh Mi I get when I am in California, but this Vietnamese restaurant has a more modern vibe. Maybe, it attracts the you get population who has never tried authentic Vietnamese food, this might be their alternative especially in a predominantly white neighborhood. I think that it is a gentrified version of Vietnamese food. The price was like $13 but we got 20% off as they are still in their soft opening phase. The only open during certain hours because they are understaffed at the moment. My friend ordered the fries and it was pretty good as I tried one piece. The workers were friendly. read more
Glad to have caught the soft opening of this new foodie spot! A Vietnamese coffee house ? Exactly what's missing in Davis Square! The Banh Mi sandwich with pork is absolutely delicious! Generous portion too. Besides the normal veggie and protein ingredients, it also comes with a thin layer of pork paste, which is tasty! The Rice Bowl with beef showcases a mixed grain rice, which is very flavorful and soft. The whole plate could use a bit more green color to my opinion. Unfortunately there's no vegetarian options at the moment. The staff is very friendly. I'm very excited to see what the full menu has in store for us upon the grand opening in the near future! read more

I loved the coconut shrimp and banh mj. They had crispy chicken bahn mi which my wife liked. The beef banh mi was also good. I did not like the tofu salad. The service and ambience was really good. read more

Food: The banh mi were really huge! They load with tons of toppings and good protein. However, not a huge fan of the bread, it was a bit stiff/stale like it has been sitting out for too long. So it wasn't as soft inside/crunchy outside as I usally would have it. They didn't have a thit nuong banh mi which is my personally favorite, but the pork was filling with good amt of seasoning. The chicken wings were crispy with a hint of ginger/lemon grass. The chicken lemongrass rice plate had tons of toppings & protein but not enough rice to a have a full proportional bite and it was pretty costly like $30 for a small box. Service: We got takeout which was relatively quick, about 20 min after ordered. Ambiance: It's a smaller modern viet style that gives more like a cafe vibe. Location accommodation: Theres not much parking so you would have to drive a little further for side parking. Its right near the davis station & movie theathers which is perfect place to explore the other areas the town has going on . read more

Pretty good non-authentic Vietnamese food at a higher cost! Coconut Matcha Coffee 4.5/5 -- actually grew on me the more i drank it. It's very coconuty and less matcha/coffe-y. I really enjoyed it and I will probably get this again; however $6 or 7 for coffee is a lot of money so i probably won't be getting it often. Vietnamese Iced Coffee 3/5 -- it feels like a regular latte i can get at that coffee shop next door rather than real vietnamese coffee. It is far off than the tastes of Ba Le's. I think they need more condensed milk and crushed ice. Not worth the $6. Chicken Banh Mi 4/5 -- pretty decent banh mi. The chicken flavor is there and love the addition of the pate. The bread is soft and flakey. I would go back for it. However, it is also a bit overpriced at $13. Even with this inflation, I think I have seen banh mis less than $10 still. I would get this again though. Pork Noodle Bowl 3.5/5 -- It's decent for me, but it feels a bit whitened. Irene said that argula as the veggie choice is weird as they traditionally use lettuce, but my theory is it's probably "healthier" and they can market that. Their interior is really cute and they also have free wifi, so it can be a nice study cafe spot! Although they do have pretty limited seating. If I were to come again, I would get the banh mi and the coconut matcha, or just the coconut matcha, and stay here to study. read more
