    Pho Thai

It's not very good. I ordered a Pho Thai and I believe there's too much MSG. But the price is beautiful it only costs me 14.9. Service is also good.

    Shrimp watercress soup

We ordered the scallion pancake with curry sauce, the shrimp watercress soup, the crab fried rice, the kra pow ga kai, and the seafood green curry. Food overall was excellent; large quantity for the price, but also good quality thai food. My wife and I thought the soup, the rice and the curry were all top tier for the boston area. My wife has been to thailand, and we have also tried thai food in SF, LA, NYC and Boston, and this place was one of the best we have tried. Service was also great; despite managing many tables, our waitress was very attentive and handled our many requests quickly. Definitely would go again!

I had a sudden urge for pho. Fortunately, I found out about Pho 'n Rice and promptly walked over for dinner. Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted and seated. Unfortunately, the speed of service somewhat slowed after I took my seat. Despite the restaurant being far from full, I waited awhile before someone took my order; I waited even longer for them to prepare my food. Nevertheless, the food here is worth the wait. The pho broth was rich in flavor and complemented the meat and noodles. In terms of portion size, I was surprised that they gave me a hearty portion of meat and quite a lot of noodles. Overall, the service here can be spotty, but the food here is definitely worth the wait.

The food is absolutely amazing, and the vibe with Thai music makes me feel like I am in Thailand. As a Thai person, I can say that every dish they serve is just like what I eat in Thailand. I love the crab fried rice; the taste is authentic and there is a lot of crab. I asked the server, and they told me they took over this place in April 2024. After taking over, they changed the menu and the chef. This place is one of the best Thai restaurants. Once I visit Boston again, I will definitely come back to this place 100%!

Really great Thai food, huge portions and low prices. Love this little hole in the wall with authentic, classic Thai dishes. Their Kaprow and their spicy basil pad Thai are both exceptional. Good for dine in and take out. Highly recommend!!

    Spicy Tofu lunch plate

I came in during lunch special hours, so I was served lunch portions. The ingredients and menu items are as you'd expect for Thai and Viet cuisine. Service was really friendly, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. For my lunch meal, I was served a complimentary side soup and salad, which tasted heavenly on a cold day. Judging by the responses of the other patrons, the soup definitely seemed to have stolen the show. This is a great place to stop by for a weekday lunch, all for a very reasonable price relative to the area it's in!

I've been coming here for a few years now. Really solid Vietnamese food and friendly service. I usually get the Dac Biet Pho, which is one of the best in the Camberville area IMO. The broth is deliciously flavorful, as a good pho broth should be.

My go to takeout order here is a Goi salad with tofu and drunken noodles with tofu. Pretty much the largest and healthiest yummy takeout order you can get in this neighborhood for a total of 20 bucks before tax/tip. And ready in 15 minutes!

    Bun Bo Hue

I ordered the Bun Bo Hue. I'm 100% Vietnamese, and my family is from Hue, so I know what good BBH is. This was okay. I liked the flavor, it was there. However, this dish here has many missing authentic components, maybe because it caters to non-Vietnamese people? It's missing pork blood, pork hoof, tendon, Vietnamese pork ham, etc. Also, this dish had way too much lemongrass in it. Too much lemongrass throws off the texture, and it becomes grainy. Also, I wished the rice noodles were thicker. These were on the thinner side. The service was okay. Not very friendly or smiley. I didn't feel welcomed, but I got all I needed , I guess. The ambiance was a two story restaurant. Limited seating, but it feels homey. ---------------------------------------- My Star Rating Scale: 5 Stars: Blew my mind, had a wow factor, will come back 4 Stars: I liked it but didn't love it, no wow factor, will still come back 3 Stars: It was okay, I didn't hate it but didn't like it either; would not voluntarily come back 2 Stars: I did not like it, I would not come back 1 Star: Absolutely hated it, I would not come back here

    Crab Meat Fried Rice

Tried this place for the first time and had an exceptional dining experience. The workers were friendly and attentive the entire time. There is a very chill ambiance with soothing music. And most importantly, the food was so delicious and fresh. I was surprised to get complimentary soup and salad. Both tasted so delicious that I would order them! I ordered the fresh summer rolls and crab fried rice. Everything was perfect.. can't wait to return!

The worst Vietnamese food I've ever had, out of the 50+ Vietnamese restaurants I've dined in in the USA and Vietnam. We were craving pho, vermicelli, and soup for our family and saw good ratings for this restaurant, so ended up ordering dinner for 10+ individuals. Each person was left unhappy, with more to desire. The pho dishes come out to approximately $16/per person with vegetables, but are skimpy. There was very little protein compared to the amount of protein you'd typically get for a pho dish. There were several vegetarian soups with catfish and shrimp that we ordered and both had 1 piece of shrimp. Yup, one piece. That was confusing because it felt like they forgot to put in the protein we paid extra for, but somehow remember to put in one piece. Furthermore, the broth in the beef and vegetarian dishes tasted and smelled like wet socks. The appetizers were the only good part of the order. I personally liked the calamari. Overall, definitely would not recommend. No clue what they're doing at this restaurant to have let us down with 10+ different entrees.

    New sign

The place is definitely under new management. It looks very different, the quality is still the same though. I don't love the use of the ramen bowls and spoons for pho, but I'm Vietnamese and I just feel like it's taking away from the culture. They have some new options which is cool. Happy that whoever took over kept the name! Still a great spot.

The restaurant has a fast-moving energy to it -- the food comes out quickly, the service is very efficient, and it feels like they do just as much takeout business as dine-in, which honestly adds to the neighborhood spot vibe. My wife ordered the Massaman Curry and I had the Kana Moo Krob, and both dishes were excellent. The flavors were rich and well balanced, and the portions were surprisingly generous. Definitely one of the better Thai restaurants we've had in the area. It may not be a place you go for ambience, but if your priority is flavorful food and a satisfying meal, Sugar & Spice absolutely delivers.

I've gotten lucky with walking in but they have enough seating for one to generally be able to snag a table even around dinner time. During the summer, they have lovely outdoor seating! I've gotten take out here once and the food holds up well. Now onto the food... - drunken noodles: occasionally these are very spicy and occasionally they are appropriately spicy. They are always so excellent and the noodles are bouncy and chewy! I usually get this with pork. - pad see ew: this is my favorite Thai noodle dish and it's no exception here. Not as spicy as the drunken noodles but just a massive portion of filling noodles, chicken/tofu, and Chinese broccoli. There's something about the way they do the sauce here that is just so savory and delicious. It feels less greasy than it usually does at other Thai places, which I really like - pad mee korat: my friend always get this and raves about it. I felt like it was worth sharing that this comes in a huge plate and was finished completely. They have a lot of variety in dishes!!

The restaurant was buzzing when we arrived, but we were seated right away at the last available table. The space felt both lively and cozy, perfect for a date night. Service started a bit slow, but once it picked up, the pacing was excellent. Our server was more hands off, which worked well, letting us settle in and enjoy the night without feeling rushed. We started with the Larb Pork Dumplings, which were beautifully presented with chili lime mayo, fresh herbs, and crispy greens. They were fried perfectly, packed with bright Thai flavors, and the added crunch from the greens made the dish even better. With five dumplings, it was a great portion to share. For dinner, we ordered the Crispy Basil Burger and the Thai Garlic Burger, both cooked medium and full of flavor, with Thai seasoning adding a unique twist to the beef.

It has all of the flavors and textures of Khao Soi, with pickled mustard greens for acid, crispy noodles for a crunchy flair, and just the right amount of spice. I find myself craving it often! The one and only bone I have to pick with Black Ruby is that the service, while very attentive, is almost TOO fast. I get that they want to turn tables over efficiently, but the last couple of times I've come, I kind of felt like they were rushing me out. I came here to catch up with a couple friends and our food came almost instantly, before our drinks, and the waitress seemed eager to keep us moving. I think our entire meal was less than 50 minutes. While I'll definitely be back, I think it won't be somewhere I'd bring friends anymore since it's just not enough time for a full conversation.
