I have eaten a variety of dishes with family and friends at Thai Moon for a few years. The only things that are better than the compassionate and impeccable service are the beautiful vegetarian dishes. Some of the people I've gone with love the chicken dishes. Eggplant Delight and Rama Garden are by far my favorite dishes with Siam rolls for appetizer and their lovely hot tea. When you place an order either for delivery or pick up, the window they give is completely inaccurate, so be prepared to wait 15 to 30 minutes longer than their estimate, sometimes inside their tiny restaurant. Don't bother trying to call the restaurant to find out about your order, because nobody will pick up. They are way too busy and can't keep up. Also, they added an ingredient that I was allergic to in the order, even though I specifically wrote not to add it. Terrible experience. read more

Fine Thai takeout, nothing to hang your hat on. Pad Thai chicken quite dry, spring rolls clearly heated up from frozen and fairly hollow, dumplings decent. Sweet and sour soup was flavorful and so hot it bent the plastic container it comes in so will enjoy the microplastics there. Quick delivery and edible. read more

Thai Moon in Arlington, MA is my favorite place to go for Pad Thai with Tofu. I have been a long time customer for over 16 years. They used to be located by the Bank of America Bank on Mass. Ave in Arlington, but had a fire. So happy to see Thai Moon found another location in Arlington Center by Broadway/Massachusetts Avenue. It's a very small restaurant. Staff is very nice. They have been consistent in making their Pad Thai - delicious and I recently tried an appetizer Thai scallion pancake - much nicer taste and puffier made of rice noodle - delicious!!! Very tasty Thai place on Mass Ave in Arlington. On the weekends depending on the day there may be ample street parking! I've been here a few times and usually stick with the pad thai or pad see ew (both tasty but didn't blow my mind if I recall). They have lunch size portion for many dishes (11am-3pm I believe all week) so that's nice in case you didn't want to eat something too heavy and abundant early in the day. I got the sizzling beef (with a side of brown rice) and I must say that the beef was extremely tender and full of flavor. The oyster sauce really complements the beef well and the mushrooms were quite tasty. I was hoping for more green veggies but nothing worth complaining about. Service was good and food tasted good but the dish we had was supposed to include scallops but they were omitted. When we asked the waitress about it she tried to say the dish didn't include them so we pointed it out to her on the menu. She did apologize but didn't try to correct the omission. The dish was also skimpy with only two shrimp so she could have offered to compensate the missing scallops by offering to add some shrimp to the dish. I had high hopes for this place, and just recently tried this place for soft opening and it was not really all that special. Firstly, the prices are not what they are supposed to be because they are using ToastTab for their menu which jacks up prices slightly. I ordered the Kee Mao noodle dish. It had good heat, but absolutely no flavor. Noodles were very dry and bland. The only taste I got from the whole dish was just heat. The portion for the price was average and in my opinion, not worth it. Definitely could be better. The Thai Tea was pretty good, on the sweeter side but satisfying, no complaints there. This is a small and cozy Thai restaurant with a nice selection of soups, appetizers, fried rice, noodles, and entrees. I appreciate that they have created a curtained entrance area to minimize cold drafts in the restaurant. Service was friendly and quick. This was a first time visit and I recommend both dishes. The Pad Woon Sen was a nice alternative from Pad Thai. This included glass noodles which were delicate and savory mixed with egg, chicken, snow peas, peppers and more. The Seaman with Pic Pao Sauce was a variety of seafood- scallops, shrimp, mussels and squid with some veggies in a spicy tamarind sauce. Lots of choice here including a number of duck and seafood dishes along with some vegetarian choices. Several sections of the menu allow you to create your own (protein plus a choice of sauces) and curries. Lots of interesting house specialties and chefs suggestions. Pricing and portions were reasonable. Many items on the menu are offered in lunch sized portions before 3PM. So many interesting things to try here. I'll be back. read more

This place has gone downhill in the last year or so. Quality very inconsistent. And they didn't exactly start off as a great Thai place, just reliable. But they are no longer reliable. What I got was some vegetables and brown rice thrown together, and no basil to be seen. It took me way too long to discover this hidden gem, but better late than never. It was all thanks to a suggestion by a friend who often frequents Arlington's diverse selection of unique cuisines along Mass Ave, especially those around Arlington Center. On my first visit, my friend and I arrived promptly at the restaurant's opening hour for dinner at 5pm and were asked if we would like a window seat. Why yes of course! Perched slightly above floor height (watch your step) and with full views of the outskirts of bustling Arlington Center and the beautiful Robbins Library across the avenue, these tables are designed for the ultimate 'people watching'. The restaurant is small, but cozy and charming with dim lighting (my favorite kind of ambiance). I'm sure it fills up quickly during peak dinner hours so plan accordingly. The owner and staff of Thai Moon are very welcoming with friendly smiling faces. They tend to you quickly and leave you with a complimentary basket of fried wontons upon placing your order. The menu consists of Asian-inspired delights with a great selection of appetizers and entrees. I can only comment on how delicious the lemongrass chicken is. It is so good it is all I have ordered on each visit. I have also tried a few appetizers including steamed pork dumplings and chicken wings - both very good. My mom and I are now visiting Thai Moon on a regular basis. It's a great place for quiet conversation and my mom is a huge fan of their hot tea. Claims it is 'the best tea she has ever had.' Ordered online for delivery and received yummy food in an impressive 30 min from a friendly person. Our entrees -- Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and a special chicken & eggplant dish -- were all really good. The one disappointment was the spring rolls, because the outside was thicker than I'm used to, and there was very little filling. Because of that, I would put 4.5 stars if I could. The online-ordering options for add-ons are a good idea -- it never occurred to me to ask for extra mixed vegetables, for instance. (There are also options for extra of any one vegetable for $2, but I doubt many people opt for $2 worth of extra celery.) Anyway, I look forward to ordering delivery from there again. read more

Why does this place have such high ratings? Ordered the chicken pad thai to go and was so excited to crack open the container to eat after a long day at work, but after taking the first bite, I was so underwhelmed. In fact, as I kept eating, the food just tasted worse. I appreciate that it was chicken breast, but I'd honestly much prefer dark meat if the chicken was bone dry and stringy. Absolutely overcooked and a bad texture. The meat didn't add anything to the dish at all, and had I'd known it'd be this way, I would have ordered a different protein. Most importantly, the dish was SALTY. HEAVY EMPHASIS ON THE SALT. Almost as if I got several cups of salt added in, I kid you not. I love when Yelp is right. Came here for dinner last night with a Restaurant.com gift certificate for $25, meaning my lady and I had to spend at least $37.50 on our meal. Considering most entrees are only $10, that meant ordering a couple appetizers and dessert... twisting my arm, I know. We started with the golden bags, which were crunchy, a tad dry, but pretty flavorful and accompanied by an awesome sweet & spicy dipping sauce. We also ordered the tom kha gai soup, which was possibly the highlight of the entire meal. The broth was rich and creamy, but not overly so at all, much in part to the nice citric acidity of the lemongrass/lime juice and the little bit of heat they added. We're ready to go back just to order bowls upon bowls of that soup -- it really was just THAT good. Entrees were no slouch either, as we enjoyed the shrimp pad thai (could've use more shrimp) and the spicy basil duck. The duck was crispy (not covered in fat) and the fried basil that came on top of the dish was light and provided some nice texture. All of the veggies were fresh and the sauce was spot on in terms of heat and sweetness. The pad thai was good, although not quite as delicious as the rest of our dinner. Finally, we had the thai custard with sweet sticky rice for dessert... awesome. If you've never tried Thai sticky rice, I highly recommend giving it a shot! Service was pretty solid. Our waiter was very friendly and did a nice job keeping our water glasses full, but got slower as the place filled up. Curry duck was excellent, vegetable rolls were alright, but the basil fish - recommended by the manager - didn't cut it. The fish was dry, not so fresh and overcooked. It wasn't bad, but also not great. Overall, I like that the food still is spicy and only toned down a little. Thai Moon is my new favorite Thai place. I came with my parents and boyfriend (ohhhh yes, it was an important meal) on a Saturday evening at around 6:30. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty. Half an hour later, it was packed. We all started with the tom yum soup. It was perfect -- aromatic and spicy, but not inedibly so. I would go back to Thai Moon just for that soup. That was just the tip of the iceberg though. For entrees, we order the beef typhoon, shrimp basil, seafood with crispy basil, garlic chicken, and tamarind duck. With the exception of the tamarind duck, everything was outstanding. Even the duck was prepared well; it just seemed to have way too much fat on it and not enough actual meat. My favorite of the entrees was probably the seafood with crispy basil. Those fried basil leaves were so tasty that they could have been an appetizer on their own, and the seafood to vegetable ratio was just right. Of course, I didn't (couldn't!) limit myself to fried basil leaves and tender, flavorful mussels and squid. I stuffed myself with the full range of culinary delights we ordered. ...I regret nothing. The moon rose thick and gleaming over the horizon, sited perfectly down Broadway from our vantage point in the plaza. No doubt the ancient druids who designed Arlington forecast the rising of the full moon on this portentous date and laid the very streets to amplify its psycho-spiritual impression. We sat on a public bench and awaited the arrival of our longtime chauffer, Gustavo. Night was falling and the air had turned chill after the first day of summer heat. We huddled together to conserve warmth. Blast! Where was Gustavo with the limousine? Our destination was the Thai Moon restaurant some 3 blocks away. We could have walked but Gustavo assured us it would be easier to drive. He was always making seemingly helpful suggestions that ended up screwing up all our plans like that. Thai Moon does not take reservations on the weekend, due to the veritable flood of patrons that burst upon it at 6pm every Saturday and Sunday. I was afraid we would not be able to find a suitable table if Gustavo took much longer. Then we would be forced to squeeze into one of the undersized tables for 4 along the wall, where you were almost assured to spill your thai-iced-tea with the slightest movement, drenching the table in a spicy orange bath. Finally Gustavo appeared, but he was driving a 1998 Toyota Corolla. "Sir, the Limousine was towed, I had to take this one, it's was the only thing i could find." "Good God," I exclaimed, "Did you steal it!?" "I'll bring it back before anyone notices it's gone." Satisfied, we piled into the back seat of the Corolla and sped off towards the Thai Moon. Gustavo dropped us at the restaurant and quickly drove off. Little did we know the trouble he would get himself into while we ate. Once seated, we ordered the crab rangoon apettizer and I had a bowl of Tom Kha soup. The broth was tasty but the chicken was bland and there was little else in it- disappointing. My yellow curry was good. We had fried ice cream- good- but they charged us twice for it. As expected, my compatriot did indeed manage to spill a thai iced tea all over the table. I would go back, but I would probably walk, especially because there is not much street parking and because Gustavo is liable to end up stealing a car and spending the next 3 weeks in jail before we realize what has happened, like last time. read more

Probably one of the best sit-down Thai restaurants in Boston! Thai Moon serves big portions for reasonable prices. I've only tried the noodles. The pad see you with beef ($10.50) and pad thai with chicken ($9.50) were delicious! I highly recommend both dishes if you love noodles. read more

Not the best Thai food I ever had (that would be Pepper Sky in Cambridge) but it's pretty darn close. Definitely the best Thai in the northern suburb. Slightly different style than Pepper or Brown Sugar, but the menu is immense, and everything is fantastic. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I love the Little Mermaid, nearly all the curries... one of the few places that I'm comfortable just closing my eyes and picking something completely at random, and can be sure I get a great meal. The owner recently passed away, but the chef (his wife) is still running the place. I am not sure what that has done to the service, so if it's a little slow lately, there's a good reason - give them a break. read more

I really appreciate that they put up these heavy curtains around the door to keep the breeze out! The golden bags were delicious, but smaller than I expected (*insert immature giggle here*) based on the yelp pictures. The bubbles quite hard but the drink satisfied my craving. I had the Country Style Noodles which were delicious and the portion size was huge! The Chicken Curry Puffs were also really great! Thai Moon is my go-to Thai takeout place in the Arlington/Medford/Somerville area. Delivery is relatively quick, the staff is polite, the food is very good, and it is moderately priced. It is nothing super special in terms of you basic run-of-the-mill Thai takeout, but it is particularly fresh and tasty. I order your basic Pad Thai ($10.99), Fried Rice ($11.59), Dumplings ($5.50). The Fried Rice comes with plenty of vegetables (which I always appreciate) and they were crisp and fresh. The noodles in the Pad Thai were just sticky enough and the peanuts and scallions were both crunchy and not soggy. Would highly recommend for someone who needs a good but not-too-greasy Thai food fix. The other day I actually went into the restaurant to eat there instead of ordering delivery for the first time and it was a nice, clean, and basic restaurant. Nothing to dress up for but cozy and the food was even more appealing served fresh--and I think I got about double the portion than I do when I order it in. Whether you are looking for a nice place to perch and eat or just to ordering in--this is defiantly a favorite of mine. read more

Thai Moon is not over the moon but is above average in certain ways. It is small/teenie and was quiet with light new-age type music in the background which paves the way for quiet conversion. No Insane Clown Posse or Slipknot blasting over the speakers. Mega kudos to The Moon for being sensitive and civilized and harboring a mellow vibe. The wait staff was pleasant and relaxed. The food: I got the Typhoon Chicken which was spicy and Moey got the "iPad" Thai with chicken and shrimp. Hers was a good-size portion but (as always) very "conservative" on the shrimp (see photo and count 'em on less than five fingers minus a thumb...). "My-yin" was small/teenie but had a good taste with anise flavor as the "secret ingredient." The only neg was that it had Pennsylvania 'shrooms and green beans -come on, bro, you can do better than that. I'm no cultural analyst but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that real Thai dishes don't use these American veggies. I have noticed a ubiquitous uptick of this type of veggie thing and it bugs. We got a chicken satay app and it had a small/teenie-size dipping "sarce" and some cuke/carrot-type salad, also of small/teenie size. All in all the food was good but I mostly liked this rare event of enjoying a dinner in a quiet and nonmental setting. I do recommend peeping out The Moon if you like small/teenie/tasty/quiet... (Opening lyrics to the song "Lollipop" by the Chordettes) Thai Moon has this item on the menu that may or may not be authentic Thai cuisine but it is so addictive! It's essentially a reconstructed crispy stuffed drumstick. They usually run out of these most nights, I imagine it's a labor intensive item to prepare. I gotta Jones for these things big time. A recent take-out phone call: Sean: "I'd like two orders of the Lollipops." TM G: "Sorry we don't have them." Sean: panics "You don't have any today, or you don't make them anymore?" TM G: "We have no more today." Sean: "So your're out?" TM G: "Yes all sold out sorry." Sean: "But , but I need some, I'm in a bad way." TM G: "Sorry sir, we don't have any left." Sean: "Could you check the kitchen they may have one more, maybe somebody didn't eat all theirs?" TM G: "Sir are you going to order something?" Sean: sighs "Yes I'd like the Tod Mun..." It's not just my Lollipop habit that keeps me going here, I love the spicy Thai dishes here as well. The "Duck Basil" is also a bit of a problem for me, I may never order "Chicken Basil" again. Be warned 2 peppers on the menu is 3 or 4 pepper spicy compared to other places. I recently had Pad Kee Mao and the Duck Basil in the same sitting and went through 3 Sam's Winter Lagers, trying to put out the fire. What have I been doing all this time?! I suppose I'm more a creature of habit than I'd like to think because I've been going to/ordering from the same Thai place time and time again ever since I've moved to Arlington... and missing out on some SERIOUSLY good food over here! I'm so glad I decided to traipse out of my comfort zone and grab a bite to eat here (word to the wise: unless it's warm outside, opt out of sitting by the door in those cute little window spaces... très romantique... but also really friggin' freezing because of the draft). The ambience is cozy; the tables are clean; and the service is friendly. Then the food. Oh, the food (accidentally typed 'good' instead, because I guess my brain just went there first). We started off with an order of the golden bags: yummy petite dumplings filled with ground chicken, corn, and veggies. So crisp, so tasty. And I'm glad we also ordered Thai iced tea and coffee (not sure I can pick a fave between the two) because it helped calm my tongue once I took a few bites of the hot basil chicken fried rice and noodles kee mao entrees. WOW. When some places say 'spicy,' it's more like 'sorta spicy, but not really.' Here... it's no joke. When they say spicy, they mean SPICY! But it was an awesome, delicious spicy, and the flavors of the dish were not lost or overwhelmed by mere capsaicin-induced pain. You can still appreciate the meat, seafood, and vegetables in the dishes here... and appreciate I did. The shrimp in their noodles were so fresh and meaty; the peppers and onions added appropriate crunchy texture; every bite I took was as enjoyable as the first. I had a dinner with my family at Thai Moon, in one early summer night. I've heard that people like Thai Moon but I did not have any expectations, as I like Sweet Chili near by. And the plates came -- I was shocked. It is better than Sweet Chili!! It is far better than Fusion Taste. (It's hard to make it worse than them, actually.) It is better than Green Papaya or Lemon Grass. 3 of us ordered 3 different dishes and a couple of appetizers. I sampled all dishes, also had a Tomyum Kun soup. I had a yellow curry with Tofu, and made it spicy. All dishes are well executed, tasted all great from start to end. I confirm what I heard -- it's pretty good. Since this was my first time, I can only comment on the dishes I had, but from the food I got, I think I have to come back often. read more
