Best Thai in the greater Boston area. Most of the people who didn't give it 5 stars are complaining about wait times and the small restaurant. It's become a very popular spot and it is a small restaurant. Expect to wait and I believe now most tables are by reservation or there are long waits. Such delicious and authentic thai food! The place is homey and full of people. All the tables were full and people were picking up delivery. Signs of a great spot. The food was very good and flavorful, with dishes I hadn't had before but I'll be looking out for them in the future. Particular favorites were: Som Tum Salad, Khua Kling Beef, Si Klong Prik Keang (ribs), Pla Rad Prik (fried fish), and the Pad See Ew. Mango sticky rice at the end was perfect to tie up our meal. Made my night with a fresh, warm, flavorful pad Thai meal made upon my late arrival after I accidentally ordered too early before having to wait 2 hours to be seen by a doctor. Came back for a late lunch and showed up when they opened and I was the only one there. I knew I wanted to try their Khao Soi and closed the menu and placed it to the side to indicate I was ready. I am not sure why, but the server passed me 4x and was just unpacking new drink menus at the counter that was practically next to me and seemed to be avoiding eye contact and my wave. It took awhile for the server to come by and take my order - I felt ignored given I was the only customer there. The Khao soi was delicious, don't get me wrong, it was one of the best I've tried in MA. But the strange cold energy from the server made me feel uncomfortable so I asked for a to-go box and left. We frequent Bangkok (Melrose) a lot and when I heard they are opening a higher end sister restaurant, I had to try. While Bangkok serves some Pho, this location does not. The roti is fried and is similar to scallion pancake. The Indian- Malay version is more airy. The pork wonton noodle soup lacks flavor but ok if you like broth on the bland side. The real star is the Tom Yum seafood hot pot - perfect blend of hot and sour taste. Also a lot of seafood (shrimp, calamari, scallops). If you don't like spicy stir fry (drunken noodle), Kiai Tiaw Khua Kai is an alternative choice as the spicy dipping sauce is on the side. Food is great, tastes like real Thai food from Thailand. The service is also great, the restaurant is not big so if they busy sometimes can be loud. The price is fair not crazy expensive, the most important thing is we love the food, and Vietnamese coffee is delicious! read more

My wife, son, and me arrived and saw a family of four immediately seated, and the woman asked if they were ok sitting outside. Seeing we missed the last table, my wife took my son to the bathroom and left me to ask how long a wait. I was told they had no tables and I would have to wait well over an hour. I looked instinctively and saw a number of folks were well into their meals and nearing the end. Noticing this herself, she said they had many reservations. I said ok, I will try somewhere else. I stepped outside and waited on the step for my wife and son, still in the bathroom. I noticed a family of three walk in. Curious, I asked what they were told. They were told 20-30 minutes and said they had no reservation. I did nothing. A second group, same number of people were told 20-30 minutes. At this point my wife and son came out the bathroom. I asked why I was told there was no tables and these other two groups were offered tables in 20-30 minutes. She said they have two people. I said they clearly have 3 people and pointed to where she wrote 3 people. I am a Black my wife who went to the bathroom at the start with my son is white. It was clear there was no reasonable explanation and she offered a table to us shortly. I thanked her and said we would eat elsewhere. read more

The time estimate offered for online pickup was grossly inaccurate. We had to wait half an hour after the promised time for our food and the staff was never honest about how much longer it would take. They kept saying it would just be a couple of minutes. Meanwhile the interior of the restaurant was crowded so there was no where to wait except outside in the rain. I understand some short delays, but I don't appreciate it the length of this delay or the dishonesty about when it would be ready. We will not be ordering here again. read more

Excellent food. No website but you can order takeout through Toast. I ordered the chicken Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and it was phenomenal. The sauce was addicting, the noodles are wider than other places, and the vegetables (baby corn, basil, etc.) were perfect. I also got the Khao Soi, which was also excellent and also my first time having it. It is a coconut milk base with spices blended in and a kick of hot chili flakes in oil. The Pad kee mao is good, This is the only place I know of in the area that prepares it using fresh peppercorns! Taste was very good. Unfortunately there was very little chicken. The moo ping is delicious and the sauce that comes with it which seems to be a mix of tamarind with fish sauce is delicious. The gra pow is decent - a lot of dark meat chicken. Flavor and heat were fine, just not my favorite execution. The Gyoza were good. If i get the kee mao again, i will order extra chicken. Convenient online ordering via the Toast app. read more

I just want to say welcome to our new neighbors Cha Roen Thai. I stopped by today and ordered the pork wonton soup and the delicious crispy rolls. They were both super flavorful! Cha Roen Thai is the sister restaurant to Kin Dee on Bedford St. in Lexington, MA. However, both restaurants have different menu options, and the Lexington restaurant is mostly takeout with only a few chairs. I am looking forward to trying other menu options in the future since it is difficult to find decent Thai food outside of Boston. My recommendation is to give both these restaurants a try. Excellent food in general, but top tier for Winchester which is overshadowed by nearby Woburn and Medford in its food scene. I'm not Thai but it feels authentic when you find a little bundle of Thai green peppercorns infusing the sauce. I also love that they have esarn sausage which is a regional dish that isn't on most Thai menus. It's a cute, cozy restaurant that also has great takeout and dine-in. read more

The food here is not your typical Thai. There is a wider range of flavors and styles, much of it a good deal lighter, fresher, and updated, compared to the usual heavy curries on many other Thai restaurants. The space is quiet, light, and intimate. The service is cordial and not rushed. I have enjoyed everything I have had here. Many dairy-free options - yay. I agree with all those 5-star reviews, although I reserve that rating for a very few spots. From me, 4 stars is an excellent rating. read more

Had Pad Thai for lunch: it was just ok. No flavor and poor quality chicken. Service was good but ambiance was not very good.
